The Doctor/ Katrina nodded. " He might be busy so I'm going to so a sonic screwdriver scan first." Katrina/The Doctor sat on the floor and let the tear flow. She felt as if she was trapped in a body that wasn't hers. Which she was.
The Doctor/ Katrina turned and saw her/him crying. " Oh dear. What's wrong?" Katrina/The Doctor looked up her eyes red. " I want to be me. I'm sick of being someone I'm not." The Doctor/Katrina sat down next to her/him. " I understand. I kinda miss my body too." Katriina/The Doctor shook her head. " It's not just that. What if this eye of harmony doesn't even work? What if we don't find it?"

Back in the TARDIS, Drean could hear their conversation on the scanner, which he had programmed to stay fixed on the couple.I'm sick of being someone I'm not... I miss my body, too... Subconsciously, he lifted up his free hand and stroked the wires running from his arm to the control panel. At least they have a chance of being restored to their old bodies...
Drean, there's no time for mourning at the moment, you know that we have to keep working. Besides, what's so bad about machines?
Drean couldn't help but smile. He could feel a legitimate concern coming from the TARDIS, like a mother talking to her child after a nightmare. It had always been what kept him from spiraling into despair for his old body. There's nothing wrong with machines, I just miss being able to run without hearing my inner mechanisms whirring away, or see without some kind of heads-up display pointing out things I don't understand. I miss my brain being my own, not something hackable... He let out a long sigh. In terms of survival and lifespan, cyber-conversion is the best thing that could have happened to me... But I feel a bit left out from others at times... Do you understand?
All of my sisters have died... I'm the last of my kind. It's a rare treat for me to even find a machine I can converse with. You may feel left out, but I finally feel included...

Katrina/The Doctor dried her eyes. " Let's call Drean and see if he found anything." The Doctor/ Katrina put on the communicator. " Drean you there? It's the Doctor. Any news for us?"

Hello, Doctor, this is Drean! The TARDIS and I have found a few examples, mostly involving malfunctioning chameleon arches... We're running diagnostics now...

Well, there a few small moments in medical records from Gallifrey of consciousnesses being thrown into the time vortex and landing in other bodies. But there was never a case where the consciousness that was replaced was ever found again... Not that I've found in the TARDIS databanks yet... Oh, and she wants me to tell you to be careful and make sure you get back here... Drean spoke into the radio, a bit distracted by the fact that the TARDIS was whispering into his ear the whole time.

" What sort of consciousness? I never heard about anything." The Doctor/ Katrina responded he/she then blushed at what the TARDIS had said. " Tell the TARDIS that I always am careful."

Drean nodded. By conciousness, I meant your memories and knowledge, basically everything that makes you who you are. and I will tell her that...

" That could be what happened to us! The only question is how do we reverse it?"

Well, normally the empty body of the time lord would simply pull its own consciousness back once it came into close enough proximity with the new body... But that doesn't seem to be the case here. You two seem to be in a unique situation. Pehaps if we put you both into chameleon arches and had you open each other's fob watches... Drean began running the numbers. Probability for success seems pretty low... Not to mention the fact that the process would be excruciating...

Well, if that's what you want to try... It's going to be you feeling the pain, not me! Drean groaned inwardly. Try to make your way back to the Tardis, I'll get two chameleon arches ready...

When the Doctor and Katrina returned, Drean was putting the final touches on the two Chameleon Arches, fixing the consciousness containment units (the fob watches) into place. Doctor! Kat! Everything's set, but I still don't think that this is a good idea... He walked over to the console without looking up, once again linking himself to the matrix. Neither of us do...

" Well it's not your choice it's ours." The Doctor/Katrina commented. Katrina/The Doctor was getting unsure of herself. " I know how much these things hurt."
