As she wondered deeper into the belly of the library and away from the gathering crowds she noticed it didn't grow quieter and in a very different way it grew louder; it seemed as though the books had a language of their own, the muttered and whispered to each other, the sound of fluttering pages, of leather spines rubbing up against other, more energetic books flew other head causing there to be a slight breeze blown down her neck every so often and also it seemed to aggravate the more viscous books containing knowledge of horrid and dreaded things which were chained and prevented from reeking mayhem about the building. It was a nice sound though as if the books themselves couldn't help but proclaim to any creature by that they contain information that urged to be read. Harriet didn't really need this prompting to look into a books pages and lose herself, however she usually liked to do it with a cup of tea, it helped her to relax and truly appreciate the moment.

So grabbing a book which also seemed to be singing a soft mournful song, it's pages fluttering like a butterfly she looked about for a place to sit and make herself comfortable. She turned down a different aisle and spotted between to high bookshelves a single snug chair. Settling herself down with the book placed eagerly on her lap she swung her bag round from her side, taking the strap from her shoulder and them rummaged through it. 'Blast and double blast.' she cursed under her breath; she'd forgotten her flask of water and therefore couldn't brew a cup of tea. She flung herself back into the chair, flicking the flap of the satchel close and then her eyes glazed, thinking.

Seconds later she rose from where she sat, shouldered her satchel and decidedly placed the book upon the chair, 'I'll be back for you in a moment, stay put.' with that she strode off at a brisk march towards the exit, her goal being that cafeteria to requested some hot water to brew her tea.

There was no way Ceri could find her way around this place. She sighed as she looked at all the shelves, receding into darkness; if only she could just walk through them, like she normally could. Moving around objects was so tedious. But having the pass was nice, in a way; she was manifesting in a more physical form, one which was unfamiliar to her. As such, her sides looked fairly translucent in certain lighting, or as she became distracted.

She held her peppermint treat in one hand, the prize she'd gotten from the wheel game, and wondered what kind of pet it was supposed to be. She turned to make sure Art was with her, before going further into the library. "I guess there's no point in eating this, but it seems like a pretty inactive pet..." Ceri clearly didn't understand the idea of raising it so that it would grow. At the moment, it really just looked like a piece of candy to her.

Sincerity looked at the shelves, then at the checkout desk, and with a motion to Art, said "I think I see maps... If I got lost in here, I would never get out. I hope you brought some kind of flare with you," she said. Her hand scuttled along beside her, safe in the spacious library.

"Our Tattoos are very different." Needle confirmed, reaching back to grasp Lattice's hand, pulling them forward, spikes to flesh, for Petro to inspect them. They looked pretty much the same; both having Snake and Holly patterns; the placements were different, but on the whole the theme was the same. "Very different." She repeated proudly.

"It seems his refusing of assistance rests on our aquaintence status." Needle giggled in a calm whisper to her partner, her free hand once more resting fingertips against her lips. Once Petro's inspection of their tattoos was completed she released Lattice's hand, smoothing bruised hands down her obi and fixing the position of her hakama in a very minute way, looking only as though she were brushing the fabric.

"My name is Needle, and this is my sister, Lattice." She introduced them formally, gesturing with a gentle swoop of her palm-up forearm. After a moment of silence, momentarily distracted by the craftsmanship of the tattoos on his face, she gave a light bow.

"We are pleased to make your aquaintence, Petro." They were...stunning! Unique! Exotic!

It was fortunate indeed that Needle was her sister or else Lattice might have had a tizzy at someone touching her and displaying her to a stranger's inspection. Quietly the ghoul allowed her sister to point out the differences instead of echoing them as well. She smiled just faintly as she also nodded at her sister's insistence. If the boil couldn't see the differences then he was indeed very blind.

Still they wore identical clothing just in different colors. It is what they were used to or so she thought. Lattice simply didn't try to wear anything else.

She giggled lightly with her sister and nodded a bit. Once her hand was released it went to her side as she let her sister introduce them both to the stranger, "Yes, pleased to meet your acquaintance." Lattice agreed in her quiet tone. Out of the two of them Needle appeared to be the most talkative and open.

The ghoul put forth an effort though, "Have you been at the school very long?"

A mischievous look crossed the imp's face as he entered the library. Dom didn't mind reading once in awhile, as a kid he'd certainly devoted more time to it but lately it just seemed like such a waste of time! Safe to say, the donkey wasn't here to read a book.

So just what was he up to, skulking through the aisles and peering into the shelves?

Roch stepped into the library, having taken a few minutes to himself--that turned into half an hour--to play Lizzy's guitar. Now he was thinking about something else, something a bit more secret, and this was the place he needed to be at.

He walked through the aisles for a bit, then stopped as he caught sight of a familiar boil. He grinned a bit evilly and stepped more quietly, sneaking up behind the skulking donkey boil. "Lookin' for the creep magazines?" he whispered right from behind him.

Dominic jumped, screeching out a loud, "HAWW" before his hand could fly up over his mouth. He wheeled around and glared, though his expressions softened when he saw who it was. Urrrgh, reaper!

"Roch!" he whined, "If I was looking for creep magazines, you broadcasting it isn't helping! But, no, I'm looking for something better... I just am not sure what exactly it is I'm looking for yet." All the demon knew, was that is was going to cause a great scene.

It seems the monster horse's tactic of directing the two ghouls' attention away from his wounds to some other topic had worked when he mentioned their tattoos. Though he still wondered for how long. He made no motion to touch their arms, spikes embedded aside, only inclining his head slightly forward to get a better look. Neither Needle nor Lattice had given him explicit permission to touch and the situation didn't quite call for any friendly gestures that involved physical contact. The tikbalang had no idea how wise this decision was.

"Pleasure's mine,", the smile was audible in his voice. Rather than bowing, he smoothly got down to one knee, a fist over his heart, and just as quickly straightened back up. Whatever stinging sensation the act caused, Tro made certain not to let appear on his features nor break the fluidity of his movement. It was as as much a show he was fine as it was a formal greeting.

"Haven't been enrolled that long but long enough to've been on a field trip," there was a bitter undertone in his words but he didn't elaborate. Partly because he didn't want to give a negative impression of the school or its faculty and staff to potential students. And partly because straightforward didn't necessarily mean loose-lipped.

"And long enough to show y' two around the places 'm familiar with," he grinned at this, enjoying the feeling of being helpful. Or potentially helpful since they would have to accept his offer first of all.

Roch started cracking up, laughing so hard he was leaning against the bookshelf next to them. "You shoulda seen your face!" he said, wiping at a tear. "Oh, that was great! But if you don't know what you're lookin' for, then I'm gonna go find the composition notes books," he said, straightening and looking around.

"Er... if this massive jackin' place even has any... hell, the biggest library I've ever been in would fit in this AISLE. And most of the books were stolen."
PostPosted: Sun Jun 05, 2011 8:53 pm

Dom frowned, hand on hip. "It's not funny!" he said, trying to keep a straight face but he couldn't help but crack up as well. "Ugh, can't believe you! And I'll know it when I see it... Composition whaaa?"

He tilted his head at the reaper, following after him. Clearly he wasn't musically inclined.

Roch looked at him with a stunned expression. "Okay," he said finally once he'd recovered. "You know music, right? It's got a beat, you can dance to it, that sort of thing? Well music's made up of notes, and putting those notes together is composing. So I'm gonna look at books about composing."

Again he looked around, then, purely guessing, headed to the right. "So do you have any clues? Like color or scent or edible-ness?" he asked the donkey as he took seconds to check books that they passed.

Face your demons
This library was huge. Way huge, actually. Art could honestly say that, for once in his life, there was no way he could win this game called ‘navigate the library.’ All he really cared for was the arts section, but only Jack knew where that was. He would definitely come by and check it out if he got enrolled though, and brave the monstrous library. To think of all the tattoo inspirations he could get from these tomes…

Ceri’s statement broke him out of his daydream, suddenly finding him in the library again. She mentioned something about… oh yeah, the treat she had in her hand! ”Well, that little ball of fluff actually turns into something really cute. I’ve got no clue what these become, though. He pulled the two blue cupcakes out of his pocket, sniffing them inquisitively. They smelled like…magic? Did magic even have a smell? If it did, this is probably what it was. Depending on what they turned out to be, Art might just give them away or something.

” A map, huh, sounds like a good idea.” Art grabbed a map quickly, and opened it up to find… surprise, the map was alive too! It suddenly began to attack him, beating him with its wing-pages. Jack it! He struggled with it for a while, then finally managed to pull it off, and then it flew away into the high vaulted ceiling.
”Well, looks like we’re just wither gonna have to tough it or find a table close to the entrance.”

Once Sincerity took a moment to really look around, the library was massive. It ascended into darkness, and yet she found it comforting. Like wandering through a graveyard, but full of things she could read. Well, if they didn't try to eat her. Art seemed to be entranced by the book selection. She looked at some of the ones snapping on short chains and got a wicked gleam in her eyes.

Ball of fluff? She looked back down again and made a muffled sound of contemplation. "Maybe they become hounds from hell," she suggested, her expression flat again even though she was kidding. "Do they smell evil?" she asked, her nose wrinkling in amusement as he sniffed the cupcakes.

"I have those sometimes. Good ideas, that is." Sincerity followed Art to the maps, and burst into a fit of giggles as it attacked him. Her mask slid down over her face, and she had to stop to readjust it. Her hand scuttled onto the table and seized with futility at another of the maps. It almost got carried away, but she let go before it could lift off. "That's right. Too bad we don't have string. Or breadcrumbs. Say, we could take off your charms and leave a path back to the entrance. Although I suspect the books might just seize them and carry them off," Sincerity mused. Her eyes were bright with laughter, and without realizing it, she had lost her mumble and was speaking clearly despite the stitches over her mouth.

In this place, she didn't need to mumble. It was a memory of a physical constraint, and when she was distracted or amused, apparently she forgot that restriction. Her face even seemed to move a little more, instead of the mask of indifference so similar to a doll's pale skin. "Ready to explore? I'm not scared of getting lost." It wasn't like she could get hungry or even uncomfortable.

After gathering his breath from the map attack, Art smiled at Sincerity, taking the Peppermint Treat from her hands. ”Yes, this ball of fluff becomes a ferocious beast! Even greater than a hell hound!” He plopped it back in her hand, turning to face the aisle of books again. ”But really, it becomes this cute bunny-like thing. They’re really cute.” Well, cute if they weren’t stupid, like Blanche. Sure, Blanche was cute, but man was he some kind of idiot…

”Yeah, no. These charms are not coming off. Good try though.” He didn’t mean it as sarcasm or to be a jerk, he just wanted her to be aware that his charms were precious to him, like his tattoos. He had to give her credit though, at least she tried. He finished his inner musings by patting her on the back, and starting walking forward.

”Hey, there’s that smile! C’mon, grins, let’s tackle this library! You and I will conquer this thing!” He made an ‘epic’ pose, pointing his finger skyward and bending his knees, grinning like the happy person he was. A new challenge to face? Yes. A new foe to demolish? Give it to him. This was all him, and his new sidekick. Wait, compainion.

She didn't appreciate Art taking the treat out of her hands, but she calmed herself down immediately. It was just Art, she didn't need to worry about him, as far as she could tell. Still, she could get pretty territorial. "A bunny? Mmm." Sincerity coddled the treat, as if it could understand her. It was her first and only charge, why shouldn't she adore it? She didn't really know how to love things, so it might get violent, but she meant well. Sometimes. A little. In this case she definitely meant well, though.

"It was worth a shot," she replied, "they are quite entrancing." She felt like he wasn't the kind that needed compliments, and that it would probably just inflate his ego until he was incorrigible, but she really did like the charms. Although when he patted her on the back, she got as close to hair raising as she could, her pride a little wounded. "Do I look like a child--" She stopped, realizing that she was indeed dressed like a doll, though that didn't necessarily mean she looked like a child. She did, however, seem childish protesting. Instead, she consoled herself by scuttling her severed hand over to Art's leg and watching as it attempted to climb to his shoulder.

Ceri licked her lips, pressed one finger to them and thought, the arm missing its hand folded over her chest. "Can one conquer books? I bet they would find us tasty. Like barbecue." Still, Ceri was glad Art wasn't a coward. Or boring. She hated boring boils. Sincerity tugged at one of her curls and pushed Art lightly in the side when he made his 'epic' pose, snickering. "What are you, some kind of hero?" Ceri asked. She stuck the tip of her tongue out between her stitches.

"Pose less, move more!" Her sides became translucent briefly, as she got distracted by the prospect of exploration. Despite her natural desire to lead, she figured Art would probably appreciate picking which way they went. Besides, he was the one who'd really struggled with the map; may as well return some of his dignity. In all, Ceri was enjoying herself.
