Horatio
▫ ▪Altiplos Warrior▪ ▫

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. For a moment there, Horatio thought he was going to have to move forward, draw his hammer and protect the blind man from the battlefield's menaces. He was surprised in many ways though, to see that not only had the man taken out his fair share of soldiers, but he'd caused quite the bit of chaos in collapsing an enemy tent. Horatio's eyes widened. "You're a warrior too, sir, aren't you?" he asked before carefully knocking an arrow again, seeing who to aim at next.

"I'm Horatio of Altiplos! It's an honor and a blessing that you're on our side, with skills like those!" Said the redhead, releasing his arrow into one of the nearby enemies that had come into his range. He muttered a curse when the arrow missed its target, and took a few steps back when he aimed again. This time, he would not miss!

As the arrow soared into the heart of a Mordache soldier, Horatio noticed his position. He was being driven away from the prison entrance, because the enemy knew his objectives were to free the ones inside! "They're pushing us back..." he said out loud. "Come, we must advance! Our liege and so many others depend on it!" He shouted, now taking to step forward, his focus on the entrance. The others who had infiltrated already probably needed his forces' back-up as soon as possible!

User ImageThe hawk laguz had returned to resting for the time being. That healthy helping of chicken was the first meal he'd had for awhile; with every moment he could feel his energy replenishing itself, and Janaff was already confident that he could shift immediately. He could break out of his cell easily in hawk form but it would not last through all the soldiers on his way out; this was his one chance and he wasn't going to screw it up with impatience.

It was to his surprise then to hear the shouts and commotion of the breakout's beginnings. Janaff got off the floor, some spring returning to his motions as he approached the cell's door, listening hopefully and watching for the approach of friendly forces. Noticing the people similarly looking out of the cell besides his, he dropped a cheery-sounding comment: "It could be our lucky break?"

Kione's eyes glared at the soldier as he mocked him. "Oh yeah, I'm sooo lucky," he whispered sarcastically as the soldier walked away. "That man is so going to die by my hands when I get out of this hellhole." ...if he ever got out of this place. But then a loud alarm that went out throughout the prison was a blissful sound that brought an evil smile to Kione's face. "Well speak of the devil," he said as he moved his head to see what was happening outside of his cell.

By the time he reached the front he spots a girl running down the hall and stopping in front of the cell that was directly across from his. And following that, two soldiers tripping and falling to the ground. Kione blinked and thought how convenient that seemed as she picked up the key. "So the Calvary has arrived," he whispered as he watches Clara opened the cell. Now id only they would open his cell. It seemed like a deja vu moment as he had been in a prison break not too long ago from the asylum. Which he also hoped they didn't realize he was a wanted criminal.

Before he could get their attention to open his cell, more enemy soldiers appeared onto the scene and distracted them. He sighed and just watched as the lady sage tripped, but also skillfully nailed the soldier. Now he spotted her with keys. "He-," he stopped again as she went for a completely different cell. He dropped his head and sighed at his second failed attempt to escape from the cell. His head rose up again as he watched the other two were clashing with other soldiers. "hey, when you guys are done dealing with those things called soldiers would you kindly open my cell," he just said blandly towards Clara and Cyric.

Without knowing I'm alone underneath this moonlight
I've got a feeling that fragile things are being moved far off
By the power of always believing you'll be near me

I called out only your name

Inside this light...
On nights where it's like I can't catch hold of anything
There isn't a day I don't think about it

-Cyric-

The left huh? Just when they were about to use the keys Clara had to release the other prisoners..it seems the soldier had gotten to them first. The King turned, backing up quickly when they suddenly came after him and the sage. One of them had a key...there, on that waist that was headed straight for the sage! He couldn't just up and go help her when he had a soldier in front of him that he needed to take care of first. Cyric swirved to the left, just up against the wall. He needed to get the key in some way or another.

Situation was getting rather complicated if you asked the King. Few soldiers among them and only one of them was armed...that was...until the soldier behind him suddenly went crashing against the wall. Cyric turned his head toward the direction that body flew from and if anything, he let out a pretty heavy sigh. A relief if you need to know. At least this way he knew that girl was safe. His attention was drawn back to the one in front of him, one he nearly forgotten but he dealt with him rather quickly...or at least..got him on the ground when he managed to deck him. The ol-One two punch to the face and the guy was out cold. Cyric let out a small 'phew' and proceeded to shake his hand. That punch may have knocked him out but it sure left his hands tingling considering that man was wearing a helmet as well. Last time he decked someone was back during winter..and it was to that army's main commander, Caeser.

Before more came, Cyric quickly approached the sage on the ground and extended his hand. "The keys, please." he kindly asked. It took the girl a few seconds to process what just happened before she passed on the keys to the king. Taking them, Cyric the cell where that one man had grabbed ol Chama's beard while Clara took care of the remaining soldier in the area. They needed to get everyone out and fast. Who knows when Mordachea will send more reinforcements to lock them all up again.

Tanya turned her head when a voice behind her spoke up. "You're..." she remembered her, vaguely, but she recognized that face. Kyrindra was one of those leading officers that was under Cyric's command, besides herself and Cecil of course. She shook her head in disappointment. "I'm afraid we do not, the only lay-out we have I believe is with the group that went in earlier."

The sword cut along the guard's upper arm, but the guard twisted to avoid a bad cut and then shoved the helmet back at the swordsman. The other soldier moved to attack Ziaram from behind, but was stopped by the red-haired man. Their lances clashed, and the soldier stepped back. Before the others could swarm him, he pushed back on the man and slashed at him with the length of his lance.

While that fighting continued, the robed man was unlocking the cells. The imprisoned Learanian soldiers within stormed out, almost knocking over the monk, and tackled the guards. They were high on moral and fury and were going to have their revenge. They couldn't be easily controlled, but they did bring much needed numbers to the table- and once they got weapons, Mordache was going to be in trouble.

Speaking of weapons, one of the rooms that held some that were confiscated from prisoners was unlocked. It was... for some reason not guarded. The other rooms would not be so easily gotten to. But the monk should not have run out from behind the group. When he shot out from around that corner, he was instantly spotted by guards. "Hey you! Halt!" When they saw that he went to pilfer the storage, they charged over.

Soldiers that had come up from the lower level came close just in time to see the cat kick the guard. They stared at the creature, arms shaking. The growls sent chills down their spine. "Th-th-th-th monster's loose!!" Their fear of the laguz kept them from getting too close. No soldiers came down from the direction of the exit. The pause in fighting would give a chance to free more prisoners and advance to the exit. However, near the top, a dark mage was forming a barrier in an attempt to contain them and a knight stood beside him to keep him safe, in case the prisoners managed to break through. They made sure that the cell which contained the bird laguz was on their side of the barrier, so that it couldn't get released.

When Sergeant Tanner joined the fight, he headed up for the prison entrance. As the birdgirl was about to soar passed and cut another soldier, the sergeant thrust out his lance to knock her off course "Get them! Show them the perils of messing with Mordache! Attack!" Tanner stood at the entrance of the prison, determined to not let a single one of the intruders enter.

By now, the archers were closer, and had better aim on laguz. The actions from the others had dealt with the immediate enemies and though they were delayed the reinforcements were now coming upon the group. The Estarcian commander would find it harder to fire arrows when soldiers were slashing at him close up. Other soldiers went for the two sword fighters and an archer felt like being clever by firing an arrow at the man with a blindfold on.

*The maps are empty, because I don't want to take away from the imagination or creativity of you all. Just be aware that these are night maps. Also, the cells contain Learanian soldiers as well, not just you guys' characters- they're people, too.*

Chince was happy that she had made the correct choice. The prison would stay where it was for however long it lasted, which made Chince wonder if there was anything explosive in the city... not that she was thinking of blowing up the prison... yet.

A quick swipe revealed her dexterity as the arrow snapped in mid-air, since she was closer to the arrow then he was... who ever he was. She was also sure he could have swiped it... then again he was facing the wrong direction unless a nearby tree was the enemy.

She quickly advanced taking the swordmaster's arm so he wouldn't aim his efforts on the tree he was facing. As she brought him closer to the action she explained along the way what was going on.

"We initially came here to find out what happened to the town but were split in our initial search as we came under attack. We learned that the... (she couldn't remember the word) very important person. Something like Citrus.... Anyways he was caught. Most of our force is in the prison, and with this big of a response it seems pretty obvious that they succeeded." She said hoping he wouldn't mind her slurring accent.

With those words she quickly parted hoping to give Horatio some more time with his bow. She had learned back in the Battle of Selens that metal kept hot when exposed to fire, long after the heat was removed.

The burning tent was falling apart and she quickly spun her sword through it wrapping it up along the fire proof blade.

She charged the advancing soldiers briefly knocking out their night vision with the flames before knocking out their life with the steel.

She flung the burning canvas across the soldiers causing their armor to start heating till their skin burnt in the artificial ovens they wore.

But she put out the fire with the blood of their allies before they would burn to death. The process included two soldiers getting an apendectemy at almost the same time followed by the removal of that annoying neck bone the other man called a spine.

No one ever said she wasn't cruel.

She needed to recalibrate for her next attack. To her left was where the tent had been, and to the right was the entrance to the prison and the sergeant guy who was suddenly bossing everyone around. She really felt like killing him for tricking the poor blind man and was wishing she had used the tent on him instead. Too late for that now. And of course in front of her were a few score of soldiers. And if she didn't want to be made swiss cheese out of, she would need to be moving away quickly.

A couple of rolls backwards and the occasional slash at an arrow allowed her to get back mostly unscathed however she did notice that there was now a sharp pain (and a sharp arrow) in her left arm. Luckily she was right handed.

All the noises around him was throwing him off...all from an introduction from Commander Horatio himself to screams and yells to the crackling of fire oh crap it was getting hot.

Calm down, Quentin, just relax. Just use your heightened senses...this is no trouble for you. All you need is to take a deep breath, and...feel...where the next foe was!

"THERE!"

With a quick unsheath, he swiftly slashed his next target moving up to him. He was, however, equally swiftly, met with a loud thunk.

...Heightened senses my a**! he quickly thought to himself. Had he managed to sense a TREE?! It was pointless killing trees when villains were afoot! Unless...

"Preposterous! Are you wearing wooden armor, my adversary! What tomfoolery is thiECK!"

Suddenly getting tugged at the arm, Quentin lost his footing (and narrowly having an arrow fly past his head) and was left tumbling along the ground, hitting rocks and small pebbles as he was dragged after the woman. She was busy explaining the situation to him...he got most of it down, except there was a lot of pauses as he smacked his head against the ground, interrupting her explanations with occasional thumps and grunts of discomfort.

Basically, there was an important man inside, and they were good guys breaking them out. Well, hopefully, it was difficult to see what colors one were flying under when you were blind. But Quentin had gotten rescued by this woman more than once, already. Not that he knew, but he had a feeling she had saved him from the danger of getting shot by arrows.

He could hear the flutter of some clothed fabric as it soared through the air, before it muffled the screams of a soldier or two. More blood splatter. A tent that would've stopped burning, if not for the fact that, well, the fire had spread to the nearby houses after it was thrown. Now two houses was quickly getting engulfed as well. "...it's getting quite hot, isn't it?"

Quentin stood up as he brushed the dirt off his clothes. His expression, though partially hidden, looked stern and serious. "...what are our numbers, and how many enemies are there? Point me in the treacherous foes' way, and I will cut a path open for you to get past. " he asked, as he readied his blade again, just barely getting missed by another arrow. "Also, err...are there any stairs? Please tell me there aren't any stairs...I can't handle stairs..."

Velkan hissed again at the soldiers who had come up from the lower level as he took a step forwards, towards them. He didn't charge however, instead he leaned his big head down to the soldier that Clara had killed, the man who had his harmonica. Gently Velkan used his mouth to slip it off from around the mans neck and then, like a fat man slurping spaghetti took it into his mouth.

"Note to self, do not swallow, or else you are going to have a very uncomfortable bathroom visit." His eyes narrowed intimidatingly at the soldiers as he growled deeper.

And then Velkan realized the exit was in the other direction, wheeling away from the soldiers who had been cowering in fear of him he bounded away, past the woman he had saved and down the hallway. "Debt repaid, now I'm out of here." he rationalized, "They can take care of themselves." Rocketing down the hallway he noticed that a dark mage and a knight were up ahead. "No problem, I'll just knock em down and kee---" Velkan's thought process was suddenly interrupted as he slammed into something very invisible and very solid.

With a dull Thunk the laguz ran into the barrier like a cat into a glass door, he unfortunately also gulped in surprise as he bounced off of it swallowing the harmonica that had been in his mouth. "s**t." he thought very accurately as he made an extremely confused face for as why he hadn't been able to continue down the hall. He'd never encountered an invisible wall before and so raising on his hind legs and leaning his fore-paws against the barrier he started to scratch at it frantically, growling and hissing at the two behind it.

You may call me useless for the fact that I am learning swordsmanship with my left arm

Damn, that guard had ducked to avoid a bad cut, but he still did get a cut nonetheless. The guard did shove that helmet back at him, which he took with his arm not holding his sword, and winced a bit. He did get an idea though.

Taking the helmet in his hand, he pulled back with his arm and lunged forward, faking a slash at the soldier's arm again, then spun around to slam the helmet against the soldier's helmet to cause that soldier to recoil back. He followed up with a slash at the open part of his arm, and took a look around. The Learanian soldiers were out, so that was good. He figured the monk had run off to somewhere safe.

Looking over at the other guard that Kierkess was dealing with, he had a feeling that he would be taken care of. He didn't know that Kierkess wasn't so good with lances, but he trusted that cavalier. He decided it was time to get those soldiers on his side. "We are here to help you guys! Can you aid us in taking out the other Mordachean soldiers here?" Best to get their attention with something they would want to do.

Chince noticed the man was still disoriented. She probably shouldn't have dragged him so quickly.
"Three out here. One of us is very big with a large bow, one of us is flying and one of us is me. And now one of us is you." She said slipping back into her dialect.
"At least five inside"
She had remained optimistic that there were people willing and able to fight in the prison and that some of them had been freed.

(Chince noticed at this point that she had never bothered to learn most of the other members names other then... nope she had forgotten that one too)

She couldn't bare to tell him that the path up to the prison was a stair case. However the foe were facing to the west, and the stairs to the north. If he could handle the soldiers here, she could get up there and break some bows.

She was in between him and the enemy. Her aproximation skills were pretty goodm which always helped when judging how many steps were inbetween her and her foe when fencing.

"The closest group of soldiers is about fourteen steps," She rotated him about seventeen degrees counter clock wise "this way." She said pointing him away from the burning buildings and closer to the enemy soldiers.

As she said this she dipped the tip of her blade into the inferno as it turned a bright glowing white. These swords retained heat so well. Too bad this was the last one she had. She wondered if there were any good mages in this world that could fill a sword with fire. She quickly ran away from the fire picking up speed as she charged up the stair case running towards the arrow quickly enough that it passed over her. And then she leapt over the side with the white sword glowing like a bolt of lightning as she covered an impressive mid-air distance, landing with her sword sliding through the first soldier's skull as if it were melted butter. Her sword quickly slid out and to the next. As long as the knights in front of the prison held their attention there and the shamans kept the barrier up, it meant they could devote their attention on beating back the ambush

- Kierkess Renvald -

Kierkess stepped back and uneasily parried the blow from the soldier using an unorthodox swatting motion from his own weapon. It was as if he was trying to maneuver like he had a sword and swing like he had an axe on horseback. That is, he was exerting all his energy on making strong and swift motions. He wasn't terribly muscular or anything, but Kierkess still had just enough power behind him to make this method work to some degree. User Image

...It was likely, though, that the soldier was just unused to an opponent who didn't have a set combat style with a particular weapon, especially when they had the appearance of a fierce armor-clad warrior. Whatever the case, Kierkess made sure that this guard didn't have time to collect himself and shot his arm forward, grabbing at the man's weapon and dropping his own. The Red Knight of Rausten knew that there was little chance of beating an opponent while so sorely out of his element... so he had opted to make a slight gambit since the opportunity had presented itself. Sort of.

He stepped forward and took the other end of the lance closer to the soldier's hand into an iron grip. Now the two were face-to-face, the soldier appearing unpleasantly surprised at Kierkess's 'strategy' of unarming himself and grabbing the opponent's weapon. "Hah!" heaved Kierkess, tugging violently at the lance in an attempt to shake it off from its rightful owner. "Your face...looks real scared-like now, know that?" he jeered. Following that statement, he suddenly released one of his hands and thrust the armored side of his arm across the guard's face. The helmet protected him as well as it could, but the soldier was still taken off-guard and ended up loosening his grip enough for Kierkess to gain control of the weapon.

A slight cry of satisfaction was heard from the adrenaline-charged Kierkess as he sloppily twirled the lance and held the pointed end to its original master's face. This was when he heard Ziaram speak in the background, dropping an odd bit of trivia for the Red Knight. "...Mordachean, huh?" he mumbled, looking at the soldier he'd just bested.

[Wasn't sure if I could puppet the soldier. Will delete if it turns out I couldn't.]

Moments after all the doors were unlocked, that laguz from earlier suddenly up and left. With the only one able to attack gone, the guards were well on their way to attack. Cyric, threw open the last prison door. "Move! Hurry!" Estarcian's as well as Learnian's soldiers were dashing out the door as the King ordered.

Cyric knelt down to the sage, picking her up off from the ground and ordering her to move as well. Clara stayed a little behind to give them a little chance to run up ahead.

However, Mordachean soldiers were way ahead of them. That laguz from earlier was seen, scratching at some....the air? It was when Cyric got closer did he realize it was a barrier. He patted the wall, trying to think quickly on how to get around it. He could see the two soldiers behind the wall sneering through, as a message that they weren't getting through. Cyric turned around, and pushed his way past the minor crowd. He snapped back to the transparent wall and ran shoulder first into it, tackling it head on. It seemed like a pointless move, but he continued. Cyric toppled back a few steps, regaining his balance before ramming the wall once more. The enemy was obviously laughing, calling him a fool, idiot, stupid because there was no way that the wall could break no matter how hard they tried.

Other people joined in to help, with any effort they have they could at least try breaking through. Mordacheans just kept on laughing..that was....until they heard a slight 'crack'.

The sage couldn't even begin to think about what had just happened. The first thing she knew, she was screaming at someone to help them and then next thing after, a cat laguz emerged from the dark. Was this the same person she yelled at? Venetia was confused but....a cat....a..CAT....This was not the time to be staring at a cat, more or less attempting to reach up and pinch his ears!

Before Venetia could do anything however, the laguz up and left, leaving the rest of the beorcs here to fend for themselves. The king unlocked the last door and picked her up off from the ground, ordering her to run before they were all captured again or dead.

They stopped at what seemed like a wall. The sage looked around, then looked behind her. "She can't handle them all by herself.." if only...Dah! Its not like she had any physical strength where she could actually punch them in the face. She's a magic user, not a knock-em-down person, nore could she actually help out with bashing down the barrier. Wow did she feel so useless right now.

After a couple seconds of searching, Verruckt found his possessions and jumped up and down laughing, "Finally! I found them! Guys! Our stuff is in he..." Then he saw the soldier who was nicely silhouetted in the doorway, "s**t." He quickly opened one of the tomes he had and said the spell with his finger pointing out at the guard "Shine!" The soldier was slammed back out of the door by several beams of light.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. And here they came. Just great, the soldiers were closing in on him, going to Horatio's one weakness when he was long-ranged. "I guess I better bring out the weapon that counts!" He said, slinging the bow over his shoulder, and drawing out his hammer instead.

Horatio had heard Quentin's questions, but noticed that Chince not only answered him with words, but was helping the other swordsman fight off the enemy soldiers with her own skills. He would have to hold this side to make sure that the two of them weren't separated from him. With a mighty swing of his hammer, he pounded into one of the solders' armor, sending them back into two others that were behind him.

"There's a few more on my end too, but I'm not counting them! I'm a bit busy holding them off, but not to worry!" Horatio said two both his sword-wielding comrades. "No matter their numbers, we can all take them. We just have to act carefully! Right now they are trying to rush us, but if we take them one-on-one, it shouldn't be too much for us to handle."
