The man looked at Ze with an unenthusiastic look, raising an eyebrow and glancing back at Devon, "I see you still haven't gotten over your little obsession with... homosexuality." the man spat the last word as if it were a poison, grimacing as he walked to a cupboard on the opposite side of the kitchen from the fridge, rummaging through the items. Devon was leaning against the doorway with a look of disdain, his arms folded, "Ze, this is Stephan; the a*****e who decided to screw my mom when she was 17 and get her knocked up with my older brother, then ditch her for seven years before coming back and having me." he said, his introduction of the man making him sigh and turn around, "Why must you say it like that? You know that's not what happened, Dev. And why can't you just call me 'Dad' or anything? Is it that har-" "Is it that hard to call me by my name? Do you despise it that much because my mom named me without your permission?" Devon snapped, receiving a roll of the eyes and the shaking of his head from Stephan before he continued to dig through the cupboard.

"I'm looking for-" "the money that he usually steals from me, which isn't there, by the way." Devon interrupted Stephan as he began to answer Ze's question, and the teenager walked over to the older male, frowning with his arms folded, "Where is it then?" Stephan asked, getting a haughty and snooty atmosphere about him as Devon approached. Devon pretended to think about it, making it obvious that he was aiming to piss off the man, "Hmm, I dunno', Pops, why don't you tell me? You're the one who wiped me out last time you 'visited' me. D'you spend it all on a hooker again, or did you lose it while gambling this time?" he asked, smirking spitefully when Stephan grimaced, but didn't answer.

Stephan waited until Ze was out of the kitchen before he leaned closer to Devon, "Why are you still doing this? After your mother and I spoke to you about it, you've done nothing but do everything you can to go against our rules-" "Rules?! Oh, so now I've got restrictions on who I can and can't be attracted to, but Jamie gets off Scott free? And he's a ******** cross dresser!" Devon interrupted, obviously not letting go of a long time argument as his father rolled his eyes and shook his head disapprovingly, "There is nothing wrong with Jamie cross dressing; it's not looked down upon as much as homosexuality." Stephan spat, giving Devon a bored expression, and was obviously becoming fed up with dealing with his youngest son's fits about 'unfairness'. Devon took a deep breath, trying to hold back the urge to punch his father in the face, and under normal circumstances, he would've; but Ze was here, and he couldn't just beat the crap out of his father with Ze just in the other room. Pinching the bridge of his nose, Devon sighed, "Whatever, just get the hell out already; I don't have any damn money for you to steal anymore, so don't come back unless on the very very microscopic chance that I ask you to." Devon said, leaving the kitchen and flopping down on the opposite end of the couch from Ze and closing his eyes, running his hands through his hair in a frustrated and irritated manner. Stephan stood in the kitchen a little while longer, unsure of what to do next, but finally gave up and just left, leaving Devon and Ze alone in silence.

In the several hours that Devon sat in silence beside Ze as he read, Devon stared at the ceiling, sorting out his thoughts. When Ze finally spoke up and asked about talking, the boy shrugged, glancing over at him, "Dunno' if there's much to talk about other than my dad's a douche bag and favors my brother while stealing from me and finding me a disgrace to human kind." he said nonchalantly, sighing as he heard just how bad that really sounded for the first time after speaking it aloud.

For a moment, Devon just stared at Ze, then his face crumpled up in doubt, "Are you sure we're talking about the same person here?" he asked, giving the other a suspicious look, "Are you sure that you haven't caught my cold?" he questioned, his lips turning up a little in the corner of his mouth, but he tried to hide his snigger.

Devon snorted, "Enlightenment? I highly doubt that that's a possible answer to how my father is. He's just a dirty old man who never lives for anything but himself." he sighed, leaning back on the couch and closing his eyes, "And he sure does have one hell of a sense for interrupting at bad times." he muttered to himself, obviously sulking that an earlier mood had been ruined, once again, by his father.

Devon opened his eyes and looked down at Ze as he hugged him, his heart picking up the pace a bit and seeming to stumble over itself at first before Devon patted Ze's head in a tender manner. He smirked to himself as he was fully aware that neither had their shirts on, and that Devon still had yet to fix his pants either, "You know, I'm beginning to wonder if you're really as oblivious to what your actions lead to, or if you're doing it all on purpose with ulterior motives." he chuckled.
