Your sig reminds me of the scene from Secret Invasion where Queen Veranke announces to the assembled heroes that the "He" in the phrase "He loves you" is God, and Nick Fury responds by nodding toward Thor and saying "Yeah? Well MY god has a hammer." EDIT: Also, this is mostly for Keith: My favorite Spider-Man moment

Sadly I agree with you Tachy. He used to be funny and witty. and now he just whines and sells out to save his already to-old-to-live aunt...
Wasted potential...

That was back before when he was still a good character(the exact issue is Civil War #7). In fact, that was JUST one story arc before he stopped being awesome(a.k.a. before One More Day). The sad part is he was just so badass during Back In Black, which was an amazing storyline. Especially during his last speech with the Kingpin(the "Three Seconds" speech and the "Spider-Man wouldn't kill you, but Peter Parker will" speech). Which made One More Day that much more of a surprise, and made all the bit of development he's had since the ******** 90s come crashing down. EDIT: For those who don't read the comics, here's what I'm talking about. Spider-Man won't/Peter will: [x][x]Three Seconds: [x][x][x][x][x]Just as an aside, that isn't the symbiote suit; that's the black suit he wore both in mourning for Captain America and to scare his enemies shitless after Civil War.

Alright. I concede. That is badass. ...but as Eps said, I just feel like his writing is not to brilliant overall. I seriously need to read more of the Civil War and after. I think I read some of the main arch, but...
Also, that literally made me laugh out loud, Selena.

Aside from Back In Black, post-Civil War Spider-Man is where it all went wrong, starting with the aforementioned One More Day arc. For most Marvel fans it really was the straw that broke the camel's back as far as Joe Quesada's reputation goes, and I don't think there's been a Marvel storyline that's driven more fans away since the Clone Saga... coincidentally enough another Spider-Man story.
Literally the only good thing to come out of One More Day is Flash Thompson's Iraq storyline.
Honestly? I've always hated Spider-Man as a character(though I will admit he's had awesome moments in the past), but I always read ASM because, for the most part, it tended to be well written, particularly during J. Michael Straczynski's run. But Joe Quesada had to go and ******** that up for me.*
I personally prefer the Noir universe Spider-Man to the traditional. For one thing, he's got a trench coat and fedora, uses a revolver, and kills his enemies; that pretty much makes him instantly awesome.
EDIT: *--Me being me, I feel compelled to explain myself here. Yes, One More Day WAS written by J. Michael Straczynski, but when it comes to comic books, there's two kinds of bad story lines; there's genuine bad comics, where the writing is just completely irredeemable(take Daniel Way's run on Deadpool, or Frank Miller's All-Star Batman and Robin, or just about anything by Rob Liefeld), and there's editorially mandated bad comics, where the editors essentially force a bad storyline on a good writer(s)(such as in the case of One More Day or Countdown to Final Crisis, or any recent DC crossover that wasn't Blackest Night really).
In this case it was the latter, in which Joe Quesada(Marvel's editor-in-chief) forced the storyline on Straczynski, which is why everyone blames him instead of the actual writer.

If it wasn't for Joe Quesada, he would've.
But in hindsight, it's sort of a blessing in disguise. Kingpin dying would've meant Shadowland likely would never have happened. And say what you want to say about it, I loved Shadowland.
