Does it have to do with the drawing? Like how long it would have taken?

En-Faye Does it have to do with the drawing? Like how long it would have taken? A skilled artist near death would be able to come up with just a simple sketch, yes? Time doesn't matter. rofl

Because the portrait would have been drawn on something other than paper? It never mentions that they found paper in the shack.
Or is it because in the begining Hall said it looked like "A Rudy Karan" not Kaiko and afterwards Brian says that Karan drew a sketch of Kaiko not a portrait of himself.

(( Kiako claimed to take off his gloves and then tear apart a chair amidst freezing weather within a shack which was clearly not sheltered from the elements. Aside from the clear danger posed in that situation, he couldn't make a fire when their supplies were gone. He hadn't searched the shack for supplies yet, so he couldn't have just found some matches. Even if he did, they would probably be ruined by exposure.
Brian said "I can buy it from Kiako for twenty thousand" insinuating he had not yet purchased the pen and ink sketch. If that thing was worth 20k, let alone half a mil, it wouldn't make any sense for Brian to already have it in his briefcase.
For that matter, if Kiako received the honor of such a gift in the final moments of a renowned artist and dear friend, yet found himself willing to part with the prized possession for a mere pittance by market standards, he wasn't a faithful friend to begin with. ))
