Maybe it was lack of sleep and food for his poor aim. Shouldn't fishing be in his blood? Then again, if he did this with his bare hands, he would have caught a tentacle by now. Yeah, it had to be other reasons. He couldn't be this bad at fishing, could he?

Jove was almost relieved he wasn't the only one wearing out, if his boyish pride wasn't so strong he would be tempted to hand his harpoon to one of the two who had already speared a tentacle. Maybe their luck still held, and he could sit down to rest for a minute or two... But he couldn't do that, he had to prove he could manage just like the rest of them.

"Fishpants better not be eaten yet." He muttered, aiming again and firing.

He wished he had a fisherman he could call up right about now to give him advice. A guiding spirit (he wouldn't mind a ghost who floated by him to give him fishing advice) to tell him the trick to taking down the beast. The only thing he was catching was a bad ache in his shoulders.

He had to pause between firing to roll his shoulders and shake his arms loose. This was really a lot of work, and if it didn't mean saving someone, he would have sat down a while. Where was everyone else? Sleeping? They should have been up here to help!

Breathing deep, he aimed and fired again, not surprised he missed.

His kind was good with endurance and strength, but that was in the legs and with pulling or running. Give him something to haul and he was great, but this was pretty crazy. After he shot and missed, he pulled his arrow in and leaned on the railing of the ship, breathing. "This is killer." He was trying, but geez. He would have liked a wave to come up and splash on them to give him a bit of pep.

This whole stupid ordeal was just as ridiculous as it was miserable, and amidst the thumping and clatter of missed harpoons, the underwater roar of the great leviathan, and trying not to wet himself (... you know, in the humiliating way), Elaphe once again mustered all his strength to try wriggling free. In his natural form, it would've been much less difficult... but no, with such long ungainly limbs and thick parts, he only managed to get himself squeezed harder by the enormous tentacle.

Shrieking at the thing in his frustration wasn't particularly smart either, because it was snapping its disturbingly fanged mouthparts again and acting very much like it wanted to eat him.

If he really did die on this, he swore, he was going to haunt EVERY LAST ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE ON DECK. FOREVER.

Oh and also he'd still somehow be a badass Terror of the Sea. Because surely a ghost or zombie could manage that, right?

(HE TOTALLY WASN'T WEEPING INSIDE, REALLY.)

Hobknocker wasn't sure what had happened. One moment, he had grabbed a harpoon, ready to help the students and his terrifyingly appealing Captain and the next, he found himself flying through the air. He had been hit by a tentacle and embedded against the wall of the ship with his own harpoon!

Times like this made him glad he was a member of the undead. However.. he was stuck and his feet barely reached the deck. He hadn't felt this vulnerable since his first wife. What a banshee she was! (Literally!) The harpoon was embedded deeply within his chest and the more he wiggled, the wider he made the hole. The last thing he wanted was to rip his body in half. He needed it to be pulled out but it wasn't going to be an easy task. It would take several students.

"I know you're busy.. trying to save a student and all.. but if you find a moment to try to help me, I'd really appreciate it and make it worth your while.. hopefully before the beast realizes I'm easy pickings...", he was more than a little nervous. Why did this kind of thing always happen to him?

-----Mini-Game: Save the Hobknocker!!!!------------------------

To try to save Hobknocker, roll a 1d6. If you roll an even number, you succeeded in latching on to the harpoon. Three students are needed to successfully pull the harpoon out of the wall as it's deeply embedded, so this will continue until we have three successful students. You can roll as often as you like but please wait at least ten minutes between Hobknocker save rolls to give others a chance.

+The person to land the first successful roll will receive a rare minipet and the other two will get a common minipet.

Don't let this deter your roleplay! Continue battling the squid even if/after you land a successful roll. It will be assumed that Hobknocker will be saved after we have all three winners so your student will not be stuck at his side. Keep on fighting that squid! Never give up, Never surrender!

Taking a moment before going off to try and shoot again, he noticed the TOTer start to help and then......fail. Fail more than Calder did. The guy had shot HIMSELF and was now attached to the ship.It was with relief that he was an undead because despite Cricket's profession, that would have been rather....messing.

Sighing, he turned and headed over, setting his own harpoon gun down to go over and help him. The harpoon was tricky to grab, wet from the waves and mist flying about and already being rocked, Calder was having a hard time balancing.

He rubbed his hands on his sleeves, looking up at the zombie for a moment. "Sorry. Hands a bit wet with all the harpoon I just pulled in." Not that his kilt was much drier, but with a few rubs, he dried them off and reached up again. He wondered if moving the spear too much would hurt the zombie but seeing as he had a massive hole in his chest, he doubted he could do much worse.

"Keep trying, gang!" Draven was trying to sound helpful, but cheering only did so much. He almost cheered again when he saw the Hobknocker start to help-the more the merrier! But then suddenly, the undead was out of action. That wasn't good.

Well. Should do something about that. He saw the kelpie head over to help, too. Yeah, it was gonna take a few of them to get this done. With a determined nod, Draven reached out and tried to grab the harpoon that was embedded in the Hobknocker and the boat.

The harpoon proved a bit tricky to grab. It looked like the other student had a decent grip on it now, so that was good.

"A bit slippery, isn't it?" Draven mused out loud.

Draven waited a moment to dry his hands and mentally prepare. They could pull thins thing out. Just had to get a decent grip on it. Between things being wet and the boat thrashing this was harder than it looked.

"We'll get you," he said to the stuck Hobknocker as he tried to grab the harpoon again.

Well, so far no luck. At least trying to get a decent hold on the harpoon helped to the keep the demon upright. All this thrashing around the boat was doing did make it hard to get a good foothold.

Just gotta keep trying, he thought to himself as he tried to help free the Hobknocker again.

Really. Should this be so hard? Draven had successfully pinned a tentacle to the boat, but now he was having a difficult time pulling a harpoon out. Well, mostly just getting a good grip on the thing.

He backed off for just a moment to collect himself. Then it was back to trying to get this harpoon out.

This time he actually found a decent hand hold. Alright! He didn't notice the triumphant smile that crept onto his face as he gave the harpoon that was trapping the Hobknocker a hefty tug. Just a bit more help and they would have it!

Now there were two people in trouble, great. As if things weren't complicated enough. Slightly torn between saving his fellow student or the trick or treater, Seiji propped his harpoon against the railing and ran over to help Calder. Surely the other student would remain uneaten for at least that long, right?
