Daemon Sadi Seventh year Slytherin prefectDaemon nodded. "I find myself unwilling to speak to new people unless they openly catch my attention. It is a bad habit but it has served me well."

Ravenclaw, 3rd Year
Nam cursed his luck. Really he'd rather not practice any charms, but he couldn't refuse a teacher. "Thank you Professor Farmer..." he mumbled into his neck and waved goodbye to Lena before she'd even had a chance to respond to his strange introduction.
He walked over to a part of the room where there were less people and things to accidentily hit and took out his wand, waiting for the professor to give him the 'okay'. Knowing him, his cheering charm would make the professor angry, and then she'd be in a foul mood and give him detention for failing to do the spell right... he couldn't wait to get this over with.

Lena
Lena gripped her wand still more tightly and closed her eyes, trying to forget everything else, trying to clear her mind from all thoughts. After a few moments, she opened then back. Come on, Lena! You can do this! She told herself. It's just a summoning charm. She tried to cast the same charm once again, but the book simply shook and was lifted a few inches off the table. She was really starting to get angry now, but she still had determination left so she took a deep breath, pointed her wand for what felt like the hundredth time at the same book and firmly and loudly spoke the words, frowning in concentration. Accio!! Lena's face suddenly broke into a bright smile, though she was still concentrating deeply, as the book was lifted a few inches off the table and slowly, but surely, little by little, it started to float towards her. When it was a foot from her desk she reached out and grabbed it. When she touched the book with the tips of her left hand, she punched the air with her right, wand still in hand. I've done it! Lena was very happy with her work. Tho it had taken time and a lot of practice, she had never completely lost determination and had kept on trying to summon the one book. To make sure it hadn't all been luck, Lena pointed her vine wood wand at another book that was on the same table. Accio! The book was also lifted from the table and started to float slowly towards her. When it was mid way to her desk, she gave a sudden jerk to the right with her wand arm and the book followed, it was under her control. Lena was controlling the book and had successfully learned how to summon an object. She then started trying to summon heavier objects, bigger books, ceramic statutes. She afterwards began trying to summon objects at a longer distance, on farther tables, objects that were at the front of the class while she was at the back. Each time, the spell was successful, the object was summoned and Lena noticed the objects started moving with more and more speed. She was very proud and pleased with her major improvement.

"That's what I do mostly too... so, what spell did the professor asked us to do again?" she asked Cloud and Daemon with a soft smile.

"Thank you professor."Kai gave a brief smile, pulling her textbook from her bag. Flipping through it half-heartedly, she kept an eye out for the spells the professor had mentioned. Finding the chapter she needed, Kai pulled some parchment from her bag and began scribbling down answers, deciding to submit a better version a little later on.
Her second task, practicing the levitation charm, presented more of a challenge to the little Hufflepuff. Furrowing her brow slightly, Kai flipped back to the page of the text explaining the charm and read it more closely. She didn't want to mess this up too badly. She whispered the incantation to herself a few times, testing the words, smoothing her pronunciation. Following this, she practiced the wand movements a few times, trying to be steady and strong in the motions. At last she felt ready to give the spell an attempt. Looking around for something light to try the spell out on, Kai spotted the quill she had just been using. She aimed her wand, slowly letting out a breath and whispered "Wingardium leviosa!"swished and flicked. She held her breath. Nothing. Not even a wiggle. She frowned in confusion. Nothing?
"Wingardium leviosa!"She said it more strongly this time, jabbing her wand at the stubborn quill. It rolled over. She scowled at it. Damn quill. She repeated the incantation to herself, sure she had the enunciation correct. The wand movement though...what was it exactly again? She turned back to her text, examining the demo picture carefully. Ah that was it...A longer swish...She hoped. Maybe?
"Wingardium leviosa!"The quill lifted slightly, the feathered end rising barely an inch from the desk. Eyes widening, Kai grinned. She did it! Well sort of...The quill collapsed back onto the desk as soon as she stopped paying attention.

Ravenclaw, 3rd Year
Nam took a breath, singling his mind on the spell he was to perform. The cheering charm... perhaps thinking happy thoughts will help. Just then he noticed that shy girl Kai practicing a basic levitation charm. She wasn't spectacular, but she was still better than he ever was, especially on her first charm (he was guessing). It brought warmth to his heart. He flicked his wand at his professor, "Laeto Lato!" He waited apprehensively for her to start screaming or burst out in tears, recoiling his wand hand defensively toward his chest.
(( I don't believe she gave you any points, she gave Lena points. She was just saying she was going to check to see what your assignment was. ))

Kate felt happiness wash over her. "Great job, Nam. That was excellent. And Daemon, your assignment right now is to turn vinegar into wine."
(And yes the points were to Lena.)

Nam's mouth flapped open and closed, absolutely dumb-founded. "I-It worked...? Really...? On my first try too?" He eyed his wand in amazement as though his success was its fault. He rotated it in his hand and examined it to make sure it really was his wand. "Th-Thank you Professor." He wandered weakly into his seat, feeling as though it must be some kind of trick, or perhaps he was in a dream... if he was, he was in deep trouble. He stared into space while it failed to sink in.

He hated to say it in these terms, but he couldn't think of a better way. "Well Professor... I'm dreadful at magic. No spell has every worked on the first try for me before, and half the ones I do end up doing something completely different from what they're supposed to." Suddenly he felt he'd said to much. This wasn't the school counselor (they didn't even have one of those), it was a professor. But she'd asked.
