Hmm a stubbron little thing absolutely refusing to come out of its shell. Perhaps it was warmer in there then it was on the sands and the dragonet didn't want to come out until he was sure that it had found his or hers. He wondered what color it would be.

"Aw come on, come out already..." She murmured as she tipped the egg a little, dropping into a crouch to peer in. It was then she let out a hoot of pride and laughed, leaning forward as if to drag the baby out.

No wonder it'd been shy...

She clicked her fingers and above, Feynath rumbled, ordering the little one out of its shell with a few quick words of encouragement. "There's no one else. Just you, come on out."

And still, the little one refused to move, until and at last, that sweeping of the crowd stopped and narrowed and then filled and blossomed in the mind of Mercy. The egg rolled then and cracked completely as Eirlyn moved away, satisfied to know the little one had Impressed.

As the egg fell away and the shine of the goop slid off from the pale body it was not a little silver that was trundling towards the girls but rather...

With a markingless hide that was pale pearly hues of gold, bronze, blue, brown, and green it was a white!

Mercymine, Your Aerith is cold. And hungry. the little white, smaller then the greens and atypicals that had hatched, hiccuped and blinked big blue eyes as it stumbled and flopped on the Sands. White possessed far less stamina then their bigger counterparts...

And with that, Eirlyn strode over to the white, waiting on whomever Impressed it before she turned to address those attending the Hatching. "Congratulations New Weyrlings! We are done here and with new life... comes new promise! Welcome!"

It said, to her at least, that the events that had transpired during the Council had, maybe, set them on the proper path. A white was sure to indicate a time of positive, great change.

All but the brown had impressed. A clutch to be proud of. Perhaps next time. Shedrawn thought with a smile. And whites were so rare. This was a lucky Weyr and he was proud to be a part of it.

Mercy was really begging to worry as the dragonet refused to come out - especially when the weyrwomen crouched down to look into the shell - was something wrong? but no she was laughing and then..and then Mercy felt that little mind connect with her and she knew..just knew that the little one inside was ..her's and she stumbled forward to help the little beast

Aerith! her Aerith! 'I'm coming, I'm coming' She assured the white as she rushed forward to guide her to the food tables. "We'll get you fed and warm!" She promised.

Look! Look, Mine, look at my pretty sib! Rayenth was practically wriggling with excitement, once it became clear that the little White had Impressed. We have to say hello, Mine!

"Wait, Rayenth," Na'uel said softly, stroking his entirely-delighted dragon in an effort to calm her. "Let them have a chance to speak with Theirs, first, we can say hello when they come over to the table." He understood Rayenth's wish to greet her siblings, to talk and be social (after all, they couldn't have had much conversation happening while they were still in their eggs, could they?) but she needed to slow down before she strained herself.

I will not strain myself, Mine, I just want to say hello. But I will wait.

"Just for a little while, lovely. Promise."

Zeren fought back the lump in his throat, the white was so tiny, and so ....not for him. He watched as a girl rushed to him. He fought the tears that threatened to spring. He stood, shaking as he waited for the candidates to be dismissed.

Almost as soon as he'd left th sands a multicolor blur of green blue and brown 'exploded' into his face, eyes whirling yellowish green, "Mud, even you've got up to meet me?" he asked holding his arms in front of him for the flits to land, Viska and Grym perched either side of his head and rubbed his cheeks with their warm, knobbly heads, whereas Mud latched onto an arm and demanded a cuddle. With his three flits attatched he headed back towards the bunks, only when he was alone there did he let a few tears drop.

Kazvar stared for a time at the tiny white, rendered speechless by the sight. There hadn't been a white since... since he wasn't sure when. He couldn't remember one, but there it was, and his stomach turned a little sour thinking that it had come from a BENDEN dragon. No doubt BENDEN would try and claim that they were the only reason it had hatched, though they would have never hatched it at all.

No... this white was all Malvren's, and Malvren, rightfully, should be proud of their Junior Queen and her remarkable little clutch.

He saw Zeren's retreat, registering it after a short pause, and stood up, edging his way through the crowd. Time to go... he didn't belong among the happy throng, he had other places to be.

A Crimson, a Black... and miracle of miracles, a White. Galvanth had sired a White dragon. S'raid's attention sharpened, focused on the tiny hatchling. Yes, there was no way he was letting that go unnoticed. They had not had a Gold or a Bronze egg, but they had managed a White. How many Golds or Bronzes got to say that much? He felt profoundly smug, a sharp sense of pride surging through him as he observed the pair. Yes, there was no way that anyone would forget what had been brought into being. White dragons were very rare indeed, and considered to be a boon even among Benden riders.

Do you see? I told you that they were special, Galvanth informed his rider smugly. S'raid felt... slightly vindicated. The clutch had been an impressive one after all. No, he would not allow anyone to live this down. There had been many Blues and Greens to be sure, but a White was... an exceptionally good sign. A pity that the Brown had gone between, of course. Having a Brown as well would have added a certain weight to things. Instead there was the Crimson and the Black. Not bad, but not something that Benden would respect.

A crimson, followed by an etergenic black. She smiled as the black Impressed. An audible gasp escaped her as the last dragonet didn't want to come out of it's shell. Oh no! Was something wrong with it. A couple more taps from the Weyrwoman and a rumble from the gold caused a sense of anticipation.

She went wide-eyed as a small white came tumbling out of its shell. It.... it was so many colors! Who would Impress it? Wykla gave a soft squeal as her friend Mercy ran up to the white. She'd done it! Her arm gave a happy wave to her friend.

Her glance passed over harper Ashmere. She hadn't Impressed this time around. Wykla made a note to find her at the feast.

That's not how it looked to me, Kaikuth replied with a dragonic giggle, teasing the serious-minded Kameth a bit. As further conversation between the dragonets however was quickly brought to a stand-still by the events of the rest of the Hatching. Ooooh, look Mine! Another sister has Impressed! The green stood up on her hind legs to get a better look and gave a welcoming bugle to the crimson as Hers attended to her.

Azuran couldn't help but smile at Kaikuth's infectious enthusiasm, and he pat the standing dragon affectionately on the head before watching the rest of the Hatching more carefully. Only two eggs left... The next was a black, and quite a loud little fellow he was too. Ah geez, Andeon. Even without knowing the other teen personally, he knew enough about him to know those two were going to be trouble. Well, a different sort of trouble than he himself was somewhat known for anyway.

When the dragonet inside of the final egg was revealed, Azuran was positively floored. A white? There hadn't been any white dragons hatched for... Well, he couldn't remember quite how long, but the point was that they were rare! That was truly incredible that they were able to see one n this very clutch.

Kaikuth nudged against her rider's leg. My sister is nice, but you are still Mine, she reminded him, nipping playfully at his robe.

And I wouldn't want to be any other's, he thought back with a smile, experimenting with the mind speech that riders often used. He had to be the luckiest Candidate in all the world to have impressed a dragon as wonderful as Kaikuth. Ah, speaking of Impressing...

He quickly turned back toward the remaining Candidates, but it was only to see the back of a retreating Zeren. Shards. He honestly hoped that the other would find His one day. At least this was only his second time Standing.

Dragonflight Pern
The Taiga green finally finished looking the front row over and tossed her head in obvious dismissal and shoved through the row to begin... well, inspecting the second line. Her was here, she need only find the girl! When Andeon started laughing, she arched her neck and caught his gaze a very obvious buck up tone to the look she gave him before she padded away. It's a good thing dragons have short memories or she'd likely be one to follow through on the "i'm coming for you" threat.

The little green Prairie also looked up as Andeon laughed then shook her head, soundly dismissing him. She meandered past Zeren, stopped... reared up to watch him then shook her head once more. Where was Hers...? Here, somewhere...

Ah! There! There was someone who could appreciate her tastes! She padded over to Pazzult and cooed at him, Pazzultmine! Your Nnith is so hungry but only the best, yes? For your Nnith?

Pazzult had been towards the middle of the boys, caught up in his own thoughts. He had walked several blues and greens Impress, sad to see the brown go. But honestly, who would want to be saddled with the wrong person for the rest of their lives? He had seen espousings dissolve when things didn't go well and he was pretty sure you couldn't dissolve an Impression.

So when the Prairie green came up to him and sat in front of him cooing, it took a second to realize that Nnith was talking to him about how hungry she was...

"Oh my gosh! I am totally sorry, Nnith! What a spazz I am, of course we will get you some food. Come on!"
