Nope, he was definitely looking for a boy, Akaya thought, as the blue snorted--displeased, was he? Well, he seemed to think there was something of worth to be found there, or he wouldn't be sticking around... Chagrined at the uncharitable thought, she clasped her hands behind her back and tried to think happier thoughts. It took all kinds? Certainly some were more...irritable personalities than others.

'Mine I would like to eat now.' Attention was successfully on the boys. No one would notice if they slipped off the sands.
Optheli grins and nods. "Right. C'mon then." She leads towards the tables with Dynith following along behind. There were a number of new riders there already, so when she got a glimpse of her brother she flashed him an excited smile that said it all.
Dynith shys away from the higher colors and scoots in next to a couple of blues and greens. Surely they wouldn't mind.

S'kor sees the elated smile his sister flashes between a couple of others. He gives a quick wave and chuckles.

Biting her lip and watching the Blue with worried eyes, Malina wondered more and more if he was going to go between the way that his sister had. She didn't... know what to look for. How did dragonets get when they meant to go between? ... And what kind of cruel practice was it that dragonets had to go between if they didn't find their rider, when firelizard didn't? Baby flits could just be wild, and they'd usually be fine, though she'd heard tell that they did better when paired to a person. She wondered why that was. Maybe they were better protected, and better fed when they had a person? Anyway, it didn't seem fair that a dragon had to Impress to live. The whole thing was rather melancholy if you looked at it from that perspective.

The blue seemed intent on them, the male candidates. He looked at the rest of the males left of the candidates and hoped that the blue would find His in the group.

He glanced over at the females and wondered how they felt at being slighted by the blue. Saykiro knew he wasn't exactly disappointed when the others moved past him to find theirs, but he wasn't exactly happy about it either.

Oh, silly little fellow! Jalarant sighed, watching the increasingly annoyed Blue pace about. Just calm down, He thought to himself. Yours is either here or up in the sands. Just take as step back and find them.

Zal hadn't known that watching a hatching would be such an experience for drama and high emotion that practically hummed around him in euphoric highs and the bitterest of sorrow and depression. After the first bronze had impressed he was able to turn full attention back onto the sands to see the small green. Obviously alot smaller than her brother but more striking for the vibrant colour that made up her hide. Her impression followed the traditional formula really and nothing unexpected came from it but it was still cause for celebration. Naturally.

Then, crack, crack, crack. Three eggs hatched in quick succession. The Gold especially drawing a gasp and coo of delight from the spectators. More so the girls as they would be trying to coax the beauty to them. Zal failed to see what the fuss was about. He had his own moral code and it was set strong. He would have no problem following a queen of course but she would have to prove herself first and there was nothing to be impressed about over the cracking of an egg. At least not any more so than her brothers and sisters.

Still he had been told the gold was the crowning jewel of the weyr and who was he to argue? He watched with the same interest in the others as the new hatchings choose their life partners. He tried to figure if there was anything to connect the ones that were chosen, any special trait that marked them out from the others but failed to do so. They were all as different as the random gathering of candidates, a wide selection. There was always the possibility that it was something he couldn't see, and there was really nothing he could do about that. If it was something immaterial it was harder to gain that quality for yourself.

But he was knocked from his musings by another gasp and mutterings as the queen impressed to someone in the stands. This hatching was just full of surprises apparently although the other little blue had no trouble impressing it was really rather over looked when there was things like stand impressions going on. Shaking his head to clear it he could still feel his heart tripping in his chest. It hadn't stopped since he had set foot on the sands and it didn't really slow when he was passed by. To accepting of that when there were plenty of other eggs left waiting.

Once more the hatching settled into a steady routine of hatching and impression before the new formed pair left the sands. Until the green came. And maybe it was a latent animal instinct but somehow Zal knew something was wrong with that green. And the panic was soon a clear indication of that then anything. But it still came as a great shock to Zal when she went between. To take her life rather than live without the bond she was born for was a tragic and touching event. And it resonated with Zal who valued his own bond deeply.

But there wasn't much time to grieve. There were others coming and now Zal found himself paying more attention. He didn't want to see another one go between after all. And suddenly he was alert for the signs. As the brown impressed his dark eyes followed the blue that remained

Oh for the love of little Green dragons! Did this Blue not know what he was about? S'raid glared at the Hatching Sands with about the same level of irritation as the Blue dragonet. He was not a patient man, and this was slowly wearing at his already frayed temper. But then, how many men could say that they had been taunted by a young Queenrider as her first act upon Impressing? Not many. ... Then again, maybe that was something to be proud of. He watched the Sands, and yawned again, not having to for a moment feign boredom. Truth be told, he was quite bored. Obviously, what this Hatching needed was a good mauling. That always spiced things up nicely. He delighted in seeing the wee little Candidates shrieking and milling about the Sands. Generally, he preferred that they not actually be injured in a permanent sort of way. What use did anyone have for crippled dragonriders, after all?

Hu. Well. Things were going alright. Opeth shifted on his perch slightly and peered down at the action. He wouldn't admit it to anyone, but he did enjoy seeing the new little ones find theirs. It was... a rightness. It did keep you still in one place for a long time ago. The blue groaned deep in his chest and stretched his wings...

He nudged a Benden dragon. How had he perched himself next to one of those things? His groan turning to a growl, Opeth's eyes flashed orange.

He was touched, distracted for thought and watching... A Trine blue? What did it want? Brumath cocked his head at the angry creatures, his own eyes remaining dull blue. Such rage against him when he had not desired to come, yet such had been his orders and so he must behave. He must do his duty, and not allow Trine to have complaints against him.

The brown huffed out an unimpressed breath at Opeth before turning back to the sands and studiously ignoring him.

...Fine. A hatching was not the time to tear one of these invaders apart anyway. Giving a huff of his own, Opeth too looked back over at the eggs.

By the time the blue had gotten only halfway into his little walk amongst the boys he stopped dead in his tracks and turned back around, his eyes moving from green to blue as his pace quickened. It seemed as though he may have found something interesting, or rather someone, and there almost looked to be a spring in his step as he moved and settled himself near a small group of boys.

He looked all three of them over, even walking around in a circle to get a view of all sides, though it wasn't quite clear which one he was interest in until he reached up with a claw. A quick swipe that was probably meant to be more of a curious poke ended up drawing blood, likely knocking over the stringy boy in the process. It wasn't meant to be cruel and overly intentional, the dragon's eyes not having changed from their rich blue, but none the less the boy would walk away with a scratch and a limp. . .and a dragon.

Your Suvith doesn't approve. You need to be fixed, Nithanmine.

The blue stepped over and onto Nithan, his voice loud and clear to all of those around the pair as well. He had no problem, it seemed, voicing his concerns. The fact he was clawing up the person he was meant to belong with now seemed to escape him, but that was just alright for this pair.

At least the tempermental fellow had found His, even though some blood had been shed. Jalarant sighed and turned his head from the newly Blue to look towards the rest of the eggs. Were any shaking, yet? Had any of the poor Crimson's clutch hatched? In all of the confusion, he couldn't really tell!

Malina's eyes went as wide as possible as she watched the Blue manhandle what was unmistakably his new rider. Did... that mean that all dragonets might be like that? Apprehensively, she waited to see if any of the others would hatch, and if they hatched, if they would be so angry! Or was that anger? From where she was standing, the dragonet's eyes seemed to be... blue? That meant he was happy, right? She blinked, a trifle confused by this. Wait, what? So, a dragonet could hurt somebody even if they weren't angry? This was news to her, and she decided that it would be all right to be a little more careful of them from now on. Surely he didn't mean to be hurtful, but not meaning to be and not being were to rather different things, in this case.

The blue scratched His, adding blood to the sands, but had Impressed that boy. Congratulations to them both. Seemed few of them were left. Saykiro looked at the eggs left and wondered if they were going to be Atypicals. It didn't appear that they were shaking, and the Crimson's clutch seemed reserved in their shaking. Maybe they just sensed the others being hatched?

S'kor drapes his arm comfortably around his dragon's neck. Now that he was mostly full, he could actually watch part of the hatching. He admired the markings and colors of the latest Impressed blue. One to be watched for sure. Unfortunately it looked as if he was determined to walk all over His. And from the scratches those claws looked sharp. "Wonder who'll hatch next?" Scarath rumbles contentedly, standing next to His. All was right with him.

Optheli blinks and moves to the spot picked by Dynith. Why here? She wasn't sure, but there was meat within easy reach. Grabbing some she begins to feed her dainty green. Joy making her smile non-stop.

This isn't right. We should be in the honor guard.

Shush, you. You couldn't intimidate a green.

That doesn't matter! I am very fast. Faster than any of those Benden dragons, and you know it. If that bronze decided to go after Brakiath, I could be on his wings before he even lifted off!

Then you will be perfectly fine protecting the queen from here, won't you? Oh look, there's La.

Instantly mollified, Taikoth crooned in apparent pleasure as his head swung back and forth, brilliant blue eyes hunting for the tall girl. There she was! He would have called out to her, except that she needed to focus completely on the hatchlings. It was terribly important. Especially with this clutch... They needed all the care they could get.

Both T'vek and his dragon chuckled at the rather unorthodox Impression of the little gold... then shuddered in unison as the one unfortunate green went between. Was it simply another unfortunate case of no compatible rider available? Or was it somehow linked to the death of the Crimson, and the pall that had hung over Trine as these dragons were still curled in their eggs? No one would ever know, save for that poor green, and she could tell no one. There was no use dwelling on it.

More and more hatchlings found Theirs, and Taikoth began to shift restlessly.

Perhaps there will be more blacks, Mine. Or crimsons, like Alumanth. Taikoth's omission of silvers was telling - while he had no particular dislike of the color, it was obvious that the little dragon valued speed over size. Silvers, like bronzes, were just big hulking objects to fly around in his eyes.

Well it was about time! And oh, the dear little creature had supplied him with the mauling that he'd desired. S'raid felt a (brief) fondness for the Blue dragonet, though he was still of the opinion that the baby dragon had been acting above his station. This was a little less boring, and he sat up straighter, watching the proceedings with faint interest. Only very faint, however. There was little unusual about these rather ordinary hatchlings. Pity, that. Now, if only the next dragonet followed in his or her brother's footsteps, that would be something. Something less dreadfully dull than the usual parade of dragonets and new riders. Truly, he had better things to be doing. Galvanth did not quite share his opinion, but the Bronze wisely kept his thoughts to himself.
