 Ilrochè grimaced and bit his lip. I guess I could tell her a little bit about it. Just leave out the ugly parts that involved him killing people. "I can tell you a little." He paused to see her reaction before he began.

Alexis blinked. "Okay," she said, her face smooth and expressionless.
He probably doesn't want to share some stuff, she thought. I honestly don't blame him.

"I was born an orphan as well." Ilrochè started. "I never knew who my parents were or where I truly belonged. I was merely left on the porch of an orphanage in Paris. I was first adopted by a young couple when I was five, but they were killed in a car accident two weeks after they adopted me. I was returned to the orphanage and entirely ignored by everyone as though they blamed me for their deaths. For the next three years, I lived in absolute solitude. No one ever asked if I wanted to play a game with them. Worse than that: No one ever spoke to me at all. Until a widow decided to adopt me. I don't know what she ever saw in me, or why she ever chose to adopt me.""I lived with her for two years before she died." He couldn't help but omit the fact that he had killed her himself. " I refused to go back to the orphanage where no one liked me, so I ran away. I've been living on the streets ever since. At least, before I found Camp Half Blood, but that's an entirely different story." He attempted a smile at his somewhat true story, hoping she wouldn't ask too many questions.

Alexis blinked. "Wow. It's almost identical. But..." Alexis's eyes met Ilroche's. "Have you ever killed anyone?" she asked, her voice almost inaudible.

Ilrochè bit his lip again. "What would you say if I told you I had?" He definitely didn't want to tell her he had, in fact, killed more people than he could count. "Figuratively speaking, of course." He smiled.
