Expecting the blue haired girl to speak, Adira had to shift her focus to one of the other girls at the table who was smiling warmly at her. The girl had a rather pretty color of cinnamon hair, the most piercing pink eyes she'd seen, and her dress was cute if not fully appropriate. She was surprised that Szelem had allowed her to be in Jada's court dressed in such a short dress; the witchy woman was usually a stickler of details.

"Ah, such a shame, though its only to be expected, particularly with Szelem involved. I don't believe she knows that I'm here, and I'd like to change that." Her pale blue eyes followed the debutant around the room for several seconds before turning back to Fallon, who was introducing herself. "No, I'm sure we haven't. Adira Perses, charmed to meet you." She found it difficult to actually slip into informal speech at these events, so ended up somewhere oddly in between. She noted the girls lack of last name in her introduction, wondering what it was. Regardless, something about Miss Fallon's smile gave her the impression of a tiger ready to pounce.

The dance with Howl had been magnificent. Towards the end, she hadn't even slipped up at all! "No I haven't been practicing, my dance partner must have just gotten better then." She smiled and finished out the rest of the dance. The smooth transition into an escorting position seemed just like another dance move, and she looked up at him.

"Thank you as well, Mr. Howl." They walked off of the dance floor rather shortly, having been close to the edge anyways. "I would love that, to be honest." She wanted to ask him if she'd done everything right etiquette-wise with his mother, but figured it was a question to ask on another day.

The pair mingled through the crowd on the way to the lookout table, where the people she knew seemed to be gathering. She'd seen a few other students she recognized from class, but no one she was comfortable talking with for long periods.

Gabbie was watching Audrey's face closely as she laughed and joked. Ah! There was the hint of a blush. She rather suspected that Audrey liked Elzo. Which suited her fine. Not that she didn't like him, she did. Just.. not in THAT way.

Leaning in close to the blue haired girl, Gabbie smiled conspiratorily and whispered so hopefully Audrey would be the only one to hear.

"D'you like him? I ask because, well, we were going to go to the prom together but this," she pointed to her casted leg, "has rather squashed my plans for dancing the night away with a friend. And I want him to have fun, with a nice, pretty girl."

She watched Audrey closely. She wanted her to say yes. Gabbie badly wanted to play matchmaker also. And she'd made sure that there was nothing in her tone or body language that would make Audrey think the wrong thing.

Lily had to school her expression as the approached the girls. She did not recognize the girls, but one had shocking green hair and Lily was trying hard not to let her jaw drop.

Azzo gave introductions and Lily's head snapped up when she realized she had been staring rather intensely at the green haired girl. She dipped into polite curtsy and smiled brightly at the girls.

"It is a pleasure to meet you as well Miss Melody," she said responding to the girls polite greeting. "Cello is a very admirable talent," she addding adding a compliment. It was nice about the talent of other's.

She turned and gave a curtsy to the green haired girl, Quinn. "Miss Quinn," she said simply, "it is a pleasure."

Lily found she was begginning to really love the ball. Never had she seen so many people with such wonderful manners it was like every had lesson in manner.

"I attend Meadowview, though I really think my parents would have preferred if I had gone to Crystal, like my sister. Though I am certain they enjoy having me at home."

--------------------------------------------------------------

Xander had never been so happy to have a dance end in his life. The young girl had stepped on his toes every five seconds, but he'd politely kept leading right through to the end, trying to ignore the mumbled appologies from the girl.

Needless to say when the dance ended he thanked the girl and promptly fled. He was looking for Lily and hoping his younger sister could fend of the hungry-eyed girls, that he was certain were looking at him. His eyes scanned the now very crowded room and he spotted her, speaking with a green haired girl. He found him self thanking god for hair dye and made a b-line for his sister.

"Lily," he called lightly as he approached her, seeing her turn and smile at him, he felt himself relax. He quickly made his was over and took he place beside his sister.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Lily smiled waving a hand to her brother as he came up beside her. "Did you enjoy your dance," she asked smiling, before turning to the little party before her.

"Azzo, Melody, Quinn, this is my older brother Xander. He works for Destiny City Memorial Hospital." She smiled at the group as she introduced her brother before introducing them to him, "Xander these are Azzo, a friend from school, and Melody and Quinn whom I've just met today."

--------------------------------------------------------------

Xander ignored his sister's comment because no he had not enjoyed the dance and secondly she'd began introductions.

He gave a polite bow, "Good evening. It's a pleasure to meet you all."

Charmed to meet you.

It was such a nice touch. Simple, yet polite. Charming in itself. Serenade Soriano might have been in the room, but Fallon found it hard to notice. She had tunnel vision, and it all filtered back to Adira Perses.

Well, almost.

Her ears pricked to hear Gabbie ask Audrey about Elzo beside where she stood. It was a little tough to make out over the noise in the room, but Fallon caught enough to understand what was being asked. Audrey had admitted her feelings about Elzo to Fallon in confidence, and she wasn't sure how keen she was on letting the world know. Her savior sense went into full swing. Fallon touched Audrey on the shoulder. "Excuse me, Audrey," she said, drawing the girl's attention and flickering an apologetic gaze to Gabbie. "This is Adira. Have you two met? She was hoping to speak with Jada soon. Do you think one of us should cut in on her dance partner?"

It was a door, one that Audrey didn't have to go through, but that could be used if she wanted. Audrey could avoid answering the question by darting to the dance floor, or she could have Fallon do it and face the music. Either way, Fallon wanted to make sure that she had the option.

His partner's praise was much appreciated, and as they walked, he uttered with a kind smile "Miss Calintha, you are far too modest about your own skills in dance." He casually glanced towards their target destination before adding on "Perhaps we shall just agree that it was wonderful due to both of our parts in the dance?"

He was not about to take credit for getting better, since he had done no such thing. Yet, he wasn't about to completely discredit his companion's opinion on the matter as well. Thus, compromise was an easy solution.

As they approached the table, Howl was pleasantly surprised to see Marlo Xanis amidst the gathering. This boy was one of the few in the school he felt he could label as a "friend" rather than a mere acquaintance.

It was only polite to introduce your friends to your parents, when the opportunity presented itself.

As he and his recent dance partner approached, he announced their arrival with the politest of "Salutations" he could muster. He turned to face the cinnamon haired girl, escorting the blonde at his arm in that direction carefully.

"It is a pleasure to see you again, Miss Fallon." His head tilted in for a delicate nod before he glanced to the lovely Calintha at his side. "I believe this is your stop, Miss Calintha. Once again, I thank you for the dance." He once again made the motions seem effortless as he loosened himself from escorting position and dipped his head in for a small kiss to the hand. It was obvious that this was where he was departing from her side, at least for the moment.

Hero Barrett danced better than he did. Dylan survived the waltz with a faint history-student memory of the repetitive step and trying his very best not to think about it, as every time he brushed grace it was unintentionally. Unfortunately, he'd never been gifted at not thinking about things. Otherwise he wouldn't be thinking about his failed driving test. Otherwise he wouldn't be thinking about all the people staring at him. What had happened to his mood, anyway?

"Talking," he said. "Yes, talking. Talking I can do. In fact, I'm a champion -- not so much at making conversation, but stringing together word after word in a long line and not stopping, yeah, I flatter myself I'm pretty good at that if I try. It's on my CV. That and dressing inappropriately to formal occasions," he settled his eyes on the red of Hero's hair, rather than her eyes which were big and set off a couple guilt bells somewhere. "Also breaking into things. But not dancing. Dancing is rubbish, I think. Someone said that, didn't they? They had to, it sounds like something someone would say."

He needed a strong drink. Well, not a drink. "Anyway, monarchy is bullshit," he twirled her again, drew her in, and fixed his eyes on hers, "and I'm not here for anything but shits and giggles, so why don't you talk? Zodiacs are banned, soldier."

Skye Starrfyre
"You might have whispered it once." She murmured softly, lips barely moving as she tilted her head just enough to acknowledge him, eyes scanning the crowd for familiar faces. Her parents were out there somewhere; parents who were waiting to be introduced to her escort, no doubt. Perhaps Erik Odysseus Corlione was getting a bit more than he signed up for, but he had his vest.

Her calm facade broke into a grin that almost had her laughing again as she thought of the vest, which they had found in a thrift store, of all places. It was amazing. It was horrible. It was him, and that's why she had agreed to it. If she was dragging him into her world, her parent's world, she could at least make sure that he had one creature comfort... Even if he had been warned that the brightly colored confetti markings might not be met as well by everyone else.

They paused in their move across the floor once Jada was presented, the entire scene making her stomach flutter. At one point she had longed for things like this, scenes like this... A fairy tale, of sorts. There was so much more to it than that, though, especially given this sort of society.

She snorted softly as the dancing began, momentarily ignoring whatever question there might have been as to why she was making such a dark face. She paused behind a pillar with her escort long enough to recompose herself, drawing her arm back away from him so that she could adjust her gloves before reaching up to adjust his bow tie. "... I think I've found my parents. Are you ready to meet them? You..." She looked up, eyes meeting his for a moment. "You look very handsome. Much different than jeans and a t-shirt... Or spandex and a cape."

The last bit was added on quietly, a small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.

"If I can handle the past couple of weeks your parents should be no problem." He noted, only half jokingly. "I admit though that at least jeans and a t-shirt are easy maintenance. Bow ties are clearly the sign of a deeper conspiracy. James Bond is probably the only man to be able to put one on by himself and he's fictional."

Cordy seemed to be genuinely uncomfortable about them though, which meant this should be... challenging.

A soft laugh at the compliment, amusement in her eyes. "I don't know about admirable, but it certainly is a talent. I've been working at it since I was young, music is my passion and life."

Which felt a bit silly to admit, no matter the truth behind it. When the girl, Lily, mentioned Meadowview, she smiled more so. "Truth be told I wanted to go to Meadowview, I don't much like the general snobbiness of most of the girls who attend Crystal. My mother was so adamant about it though, I didn't have much of a choice." Such a shame, she was sure she would have fit in better at Meadowview.

When Lily's brother walked over to join his sister, she gave a polite (though charming) smile and curtsied in reply to his bow. There was a slight shine in her eyes and it was easy to see that she was rather enjoying this type of setting, though it was hard to tell if it was the setting itself or the not having to go through this alone.

"Good evening to you as well, Mr. Xander. Or would it be doctor?"

Azzo gave a bow in greetings to the Saylors. "It's a pleasure to meet you both." He said with a smile.

He was watching the others talk eyes scanning the room. Before looking back at his Grams. Who was still eaves dropping but looking as if she had found some people to talk to. He knew she was eaves dropping because of how close she was.

"Melody I believe you've yet to meet my Gr--" He was cut off by the other lady turning around.

"OH well hello there~" She said in rather chipper voice. As if she'd been the sly one not to get caught, "there you are Azzo. I didn't see you on the dance floor I was wondering where you'd gotten to."

"Grams..." He finished with very, very slight irritation in his voice at being cut off, however the smile never left his face.

He coughed, "She'd been bothering me to go since she heard about the ball." He held a hand up so the girls and Xander could hear and try to avoiding his grandmother hearing. "The last time she was at one was when Gramps was alive. I think she's a bit lonely." He of course only did this when his Grams was distracted.

"So who are these lovely young ladies and the strapping Gentleman?" Grams turned her attention back to Azzo and company.

"Grams this is Melody Klein, Quinn and her mother Mrs Saylor." He said, "And of course You've meet Lily and that's her brother Xander." She'd only met Lily because Lily got to them first. He chuckled softly. He thought'd he seen Quinn before which is what drug him over in the first place. That shocking green hair looked oddly like someone he knew. However he couldn't really place a name to face... He seemed slightly perplexed at that.

"It's a pleasure to meet you all." Grams said, beaming for ear to ear. It seemed even though she barely knew anyone here she was enjoying herself. She was looking towards where the auctions were, almost musing if she should go over. Azzo did notice this look, and gave a mental sigh.

Some of Audrey's effervescence dimmed as Gabbie's words about being Elzo's prom date wrapped around her brain and squeezed. She tried to not do it, she really did, but the bluenette couldn't help but inspect the looks of the injury buddy. What she found, caused her to almost moan in horror - the green-haired young woman was about as built as Jada! No wonder Elzo'd picked her up for a date so quick, she was devastatingly attractive as well. Were there no unattractive young women at Crystal Academy? Serah perhaps wasn't exactly a knockout, but her age was a cushion for it and she was rather pretty in her own way. And hadn't Aree gone to Crystal? Aree was pretty damn gorgeous as well, along with now being her prom date. Not even for her crush would she bail on her friend, not after all the begging, pleading, and concessions made to get the date in the first place!

Thankfully, Fallon stepped up at that moment all omniscience and full of ways out. Impulsively, the bluenette put an arm around Gabbie for a half-hug and started to rise from the table. "Prom isn't for awhile yet, who knows. You might be healed, and if not, Elzo is excellent at making up for his partner. He's a great dancer." Among other things. Somehow though, the idea of 'dancing' with her the way he'd danced with Audrey didn't exactly put the teen at ease with this decision. "And you're right Fallon, I'll go get her. She shouldn't just dance, we need to get some food and water into her." A friendly smile at Adira, noting that the burgundy-haired young woman was quite interested. Remembering her newfound knowledge of Fallon's leanings, this caused even a larger smile. "It's nice to meet you Adira, you should take my seat and enjoy yourself! Certainly getting a crowd over here!" Rescue Rangers, go, for more than one girl that night! Maybe somewhere in the crowd she would even find the topic of their girlish conversations. She was looking especially pretty, and even considering the night before, she wanted him to see it. Otherwise, what was the point of being attractive?

Slowly, supporting herself and pausing at several chairs to adjust her balance and wait for the pain to dim, the Meadowview student edged her way onto the ballroom right as the music paused for a switch of partners. "Pardon me, I really hate to pull Jada away when you're all so attentive, but she really should have a drink, don't you think?" The debutante, in heels, was just as tall as Audrey and not so easy to drag off as she might have been had her friend not been handicapped. "You gotta save me, Jay. And get a drink, you're going to pass out." Lips moved, but eyes roved. Where the hell was he?

"Thank you, ladies," Rica spoke. Her purple eyes took notice of the newcomers - a male in black and purple with a top hat, and a girl with off-red curls and a celery green dress following - before Esen's olive-green eyes did, though the younger did notice soon after. "I'll speak from here, mother," she quietly muttered in Rica's direction, seeing another person come by.

"Hello, Azzo, Lily, Xander - my name is Quinn Saylor, and this is my mother, Fredrica-" she gestured to a woman with a blue dress and similarly colored curls to her own. 'Quinn' was quite stiff-mannered and stiff-voiced - while Melody curtsied, Esen gave a formal nod (her dress did not lend itself much to the curtsy, anyhow). No, the green-haired girl was nowhere near the elite in status, she was just very guarded. "I can't say anything regarding Meadowview High, but Crystal's been a good experience academically. I'm not so sure about the social experience, though..." Her face twisted into thought, then quickly unwound. "...I guess I'm a bit lucky."

Rica Saylor, Esen's mother, gave a curtsy to the newcomers. "Thank you. I'll be somewhere on the dance floor if you need me, E-Quinn." Holding her skirt, Rica walked off.

After watching her mother leave, Esen turned back. "The debutante seemed very beautiful..." It was a very awkward attempt to start conversation, but it wasn't like she could just run out of there. The girl, clad in very deep green, wanted to leave, but knew she couldn't. It would only cause more problems.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 15, 2010 4:34 pm

As Rica left Melody lightly wrapped her arm around her green haired friend's, trying to give the nervous (and perhaps out of place) girl some strength. It would be okay, she wouldn't leave Esen alone to face this ball by herself. And if she left for a dance? Well she'd be back as soon as it was done, she promised.

Turning her gaze to the elder woman, who was now the oldest in their small little group, the smile never faded from her pretty face. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Crowley. Azzo has spoken about you several of times since we met. I'd been waiting to get the chance to meet you myself~"

Yet, once she was done speaking to the woman, her brown eyes had gone back to Xander to watch him while waiting for a response.

"Mm... I don't know. I bet Bruce Wayne knows how to tie his own bow tie." Her grin was conspiratorial, one of their little jokes that seemed like it would be enough to get her through this as she fussed with his tie just once more before stepping back so that he could take her arm again.

Once it was confirmed that they were both ready she steered him through the crowd, pausing to stand proudly and properly as she waited for her father to glance up from the couple he and her mother were speaking with in order to acknowledge them. Her father introduced her and she smiled, although it wasn't a real smile. It was one that she put on for propriety's sake, but so few in these circles would know the difference.

When it came time for her father to introduce her escort he paused, brow furrowing slightly upon the realization that his daughter had never informed him exactly who she would be bringing with her.

"Erik, Daddy... I've told you and mother about him before." She went from smiling to pouting softly, playing up the introduction just enough to make her father bewildered as he racked his memory for a name.

"Ah, Corlione, yes?" He held his hand out to the young man, his own smile genuine. "A pleasure. Forgive my lapse of memory. Old age setting in, I'm sure." In truth, he couldn't have been that far past forty, but that excuse seemed general enough.

His wife rolled her eyes teasingly, reaching over to lightly pat the young man on the arm. "Don't believe him. He likes to pretend that he forgets most of Cordelia's boyfriends, doesn't he, darling?"

"... Mother." Her face flushed as she contemplated just how quickly she could make her way to the nearest exit, especially if conversing with her parents was going to turn into this. "I just wanted to let the two of you know that we made it safely. If you don't mind..." She gave Oddy's arm a light tug before whispering. "Get me out of here."

Sighing in disappointment, Gabbie leaned back into her chair and rubbed the bridge of her nose. That could have gone better. Had she phrased it badly? She was pretty certain that she'd made it clear that she thought of Elzo only as a friend. Bother, bother bother.

"How," she muttered to no one in particular, "is a girl supposed to matchmake when one of the pair runs off."

Still, as Audrey had said, there was still time. She'd find a way to put them together.

"Oh, really there's no need-" By the time Adira had spoken, it was already too late to do anything. The blue haired girl, Miss Audrey had already gotten up from the table and left to interrupt Jada's dancing. How mortifying, really. The girl hoped that the bluenette had not mentioned her name as the reason for the interruption.

In the meantime though, there was nothing really better to do than to stay with Fallon and the rest of the small crowd at the table. She wasn't quite sure what was going on, which was slightly confusing, but decided to just roll with it. It would be interesting to see what Jada's reaction would be to her hanging out with her friends. From what she could put together, the debutant viewed her as competition, which was something that Adira could certianly rise to. "So, Miss Fallon, How do you know Jada?"
