Well, depends on the type of Kalona you're going for. My Myrddin's backstory didn't come about until I was browsing through Cele's teepee and noticed there wasn't a finished tale for how her armored white boy, Crous, escaped from the battle ring. So I talked with her about having my dragon be the perfect opponent. Kalona and Winds tend to be very much enemies so it was a perfect idea. During their fight and their combined strength during the battle, they some how break the magic of the ring, giving Crous his escape, and Myrddin a chance to snack on spectators.
I have a very mare heavy list of quests I'm working on as well and most of them have backstories except for Rose Goodfellow, my Usdia.

Crimson Ribbon Eve I love you. I understood every word and I miss having people to WoW speak with xD -quit raiding a while ago-
Congrats btw to all the winners, customs, raffles, and the like >w<. -bounces impatiently- I wonder who will open customs next.
Psycho Shocker and I play WoW quite a bit. It gives us something else to do together even with the five and a half hour distance between us.

Not really aiming for a completely evil Kalona X3;; Shi-chan sucks at RPing too much evil.
I decided to name him Thor 83 He's a tormented Kalona ~
His basket kinda got.. lost I suppose, and he was stuck into a herd of Soquili that really were afraid of Kalona.
He was raised by a Uni who was convinced she could raise him to be good, but Thor was basically secluded and shunned since he popped from his basket D8!
When the Uni that was caring for him had to go on a mission to help another herd, Thor was basically driven away from the herd and never saw that Uni again = w=
Figuring he would always be viewed as evil, he decided he'd become exactly what his herd thought he was -- A vicious malevolent beast o wo
Really though, he's just lonely, but let his evil persona take over him > A< Thus explaining why I saw "Tormented" for his temper owo

I pray in my heart that this dream never ends...-nods- I can understand that. WoW was something for my bf and I to play together....but it eventually had somewhat of the opposite effect.
My future Kalona is not so much evil either, as she is....grumpy. Her temper is going to be Tempermental. So she's moody and grumpy, but not outright evil. But she's not outright good either. She does as she pleases to suit her own moods. Because I'm crap at playing really evil characters too =/;; I see me through your eyes... I see you

You can apply for a teepee now. Feel free to use mine as an example as you're setting it up. And the choices are to find someone to be a "mother" or you can have a Native persona care for it. The basket interactions will be very limited, but those are all the suggestions I can think of right now.
