Koko smirked a little bit, sensing Zed's dislike of the jungle.
"Oh, it's not too far... I suppose...."
She giggled slightly before sprinting off into the trees, her speed making her disappear within seconds. Even though it seemed like she had left Zed in the jungle, she'd actually looped round so that she kept level with him, to judge his reaction.

Zed continued walking whilst muttering to himself.
"I hate walking... ughh... Koko... what an odd name... pretty good looking and pretty handy with the ship... better not steal my ship... or my poncho... goddamn jungle... I miss my poncho... thats a point, where'd she go?"
He stopped and looked about for a moment.
"Koko?"

Koko grinned for a moment, having observed the pilot muttering to himself. He sure was odd, but heck, who wasn't? She shook her head a little when she remembered mistaking him for Finn, mentally chiding herself;
Sure he also has silver hair & is round-about the same height, but he doesn't have the chizelled look that Finn has. Nor does he have stubble, a scar over his left eyebrow or the same hairstyle. I guess I was just hoping.... This guy..... He's got an awesome ship, but I don't reckon I could steal it anyway....
She looked over at Zed again, putting one hand under her chin & tilting her head to the side, as though properly looking at him for the first time.
Hmmm.... Trim & lean, though still with a bit of muscle, not too top heavy but still with broad shoulders. He's got the scruffy look going on at the moment, kinda cute. Maybe if he was cleaned up a little....? Woah, woah, woah! OK, let's stop thinking these thoughts!
She tutted herself, then ran across in front of Zed, letting him see her before jogging through the trees.
"Come on slow poke!"

Zed didn't like being called slow, after all, he was the first human to break the 'light barrier'. He grabbed his jetpack's trigger and pressed it as hard as he could whilst leaning forwards. This sent him flying quickly past Koko. He landed back on his feet at the edge of a cliff, the nearby waterfall cascaded down into the pool below.
"Oh. I found the waterfall."

Koko sat above him on a nearby rock, having sped up when she noticed him go past her on the jetpack.
"I can see that."
She laughed a little bit, then took off the jetpack & her top, so that she was just in combats & her bra, then rolled up her trousers & kicked her shoes & socks off. Then she began climbing up the rocks at the side of the waterfall.
Ah.... I used to do this all the time....
After a few minutes she reached the top & walked into the shallow water leading up to the waterfall. Despite the small amount of water, the current was very strong so she had to spread her feet slightly apart to keep her balance.

Zed perched himself up in a tree that overhung the cliffside beside the waterfall.
"You gunna jump down that? You're crazy."
He laughed and nearly lost his balance.

Koko frowned slightly as she looked down at Zed, then stepped closer to the edge of the waterfall.
"I'll show you!"
With that she took a leap of the waterfall, angled her body downwards & threw her arms out in front of her in a model 'diving' pose. At the bottom she dove easily into the water then surfaced a few moments afterwards.
"I used to do that all the time as a kid, so it's nothing new to me. Wanna try bigshot?"
She stuck her tongue out, her wet hair now plastered to her head.

Zed was tempted, but he didn't want to risk leaving his valuables in the jungle.
"I think I'll pass... this time."

"Huh, that's what I thought."
Now the young mercenary floated in the pool at the bottom of the waterfall on her back, looking up at the sky. She sighed slightly, thinking about the last time she'd been here. There hadn't been the jungle the way there was now, but this particular place was still the same. She glanced over at Zed, then looked back up, simply drifting.
"Thank you for bringing me here Zed, it means a lot...."

Zed floated to the ground then lay down.
"no problem."
He sighed then watched the waterfall, the water's purpleish tint was natural to Ares, but Zed still found it odd. He then remembered his visit back to Earth.
"What do you know about my story? I hear it's become quite well known all over..."

"Hmm?"
Koko looked over at Zed, then swam to the bank & clambered out of the water, standing over him. She then sighed & sat down next to him,
"Well, I don't actually know very much about ya at all. I was just told to investigate a guy with a high-tech ship out in the desert. Apparently you'd shown up on this planet asking for people who don't exist, then you upped & left for the desert."
She lay down near to him, her voice quieter now.
"You showed up not long after my partner went missing...."

Zed was keen to tell his story, but was curious as to what had happened to Koko's partner.

"Yeah.... he was sent out in a prototype ship to try & get back to Earth or something. I said it was stupid & he shouldn't go.... but he went anyway."
She turned her head to the side so that she was looking at Zed, a small forced smile on her face.
"But anyway, enough about that, I can tell you want to explain your story. You probably haven't had someone you can tell that won't judge you or think you're crazy."

"well... it sounds a little weird, i know, but just listen... I was the only Earthborn pilot on the whole of Ares, and the best damn pilot too, so I was chosen to pilot a prototype ship back to Earth. At the time I was engaged with a baby on the way... Anyway, I accepted the mission after being told the whole trip would take less than a month... I flew the ship across the blackness of space. I found Earth... then headed back to Ares."
Zed sighed and closed his eyes.
"On the way back, the ship's FTL core went dead. After a couple of days I somehow got it to work... but when it activated.. well, i cant really remember, but there was some kind of explosion. I woke up in hospital in the sleeper ship city, no-one was the same, my fiance was no-where to be found... I even hacked into the sleeper ship's databases, but she didn't exist... So I stole my ship back and buired it out in the desert."
He opened his eyes again.
"it's like I'm trapped in someone else's world..."
