Cold water splashed down the young king's upper body as he clutched the side of the sink, allowing the water to run into the basin. What the heck was he thinking? Courting poor Shanya into insanity. Was he really going to do that again?! No, the kind decided, he wasn't.
After pulling on his shirt, Reiba walked out of the bathroom, his hair still damp from his wake-up call with the sink. "It's all yours." He muttered, tossing his clothes into a small basket near the door. "Just toss your dirty clothes in there. The maids pick it up in the morning."

Though still unsure, Shanya nodded and walked to the bathroom, closing and locking the door as soon as he was inside. It was very awkward being in a bathroom. He had probably never been here probably since the day he left. Even so, there was no sense of familiarity here whatsoever.

Reiba plopped down in front of a window overlooking the kingdom with a bag of chips in his lap. It'd been a while since he just relaxed like this. He seemed to be always worrying about his 'young brother'; where he was, how he was doing. He never imagined that he'd be in his bathroom at this very minute.
However, the problem still remained about how he was. Shanya still didn't fully trust the king yet, it was apparent. So, he wasn't ever going to tell the chocolate haired boy what he was really thinking. Ugh, sometimes Reiba just wished that the magician had cast a spell on him too. Oh, how great life would have been.

It wasn't long after Shanya entered the bathroom that he felt warm water on his back. It took a little while to adjust the temperature, but now he was just standing there. It felt nice to feel the year's worth of dirt and mud disappear like they never had the ability to stick on to him in the first place. As much as he would like to stay this way forever, he knew eventually he would have to get out.
After a while, he turned off the and dried himself off with a nearby towel, which was very soft compared to a lot of other fabrics Shanya had touched. Once he believed he was dry, he then put on the clothes that the king had left in the bathroom for him. The clothes seemed a little strange, but maybe it's because he wasn't used to the materials.

Reiba just kept on staring out of the window toward the kingdom. He suddenly saw a flash of light, as if somebody were setting off fireworks. However, it was just some kids turning a bright flashlight on and off in the village's near darkness, with the dim streetlights. It brought back a few flooding memories, which Reiba allowed to engulf him, for the first time in almost eight years.
The memory of two boys running in the field at night with the fireflies seemed to be the most dominant, and he allowed himself to drift backwards in time until he was running with them, laughing and spinning around in circles, trying to catch the shimmering bugs before they blinked out and disappeared for the night.

Shanya soon left the bathroom and threw the dirty clothes into the basket. He would have asked the king a question if he wasn't staring off into space. His Highness seemed to be lost in something, so it was probably best not to disturb him. What could the king be thinking about? Perhaps he was thinking about the cave and what he should do about it.
Then something struck Shanya. He had forgotten to ask the king about what had happened in that cave. The king had only told him that they were separated there, but how? Could it be those invisible hands? Could have something to do with the frightened ghost child he saw running deep into the cave?

Reiba barely heard Shanya reenter the room, but slowly the memory faded, and the young king was once again in his room. The younger boy was standing somewhere behind him, and he turned instinctively to look at him with a blank expression.
"I'm sorry, I didn't hear you come back." The chocolate haired boy apologized, standing up and holding out the bag to Olan to see if he wanted any. But the younger boy seemed troubled by something. A memory? Possibly not. Was it something he had said earlier? "What's wrong, child?" Reiba asked, retracting the bag quickly.

Shanya was pulled from his thoughts as soon as he heard the question. What can he say? That he was thinking about the cave and what might have happened? No, the king wouldn't want him to think about that. It was too troublesome and a disturbing memory for him.
"Nothing. Nothing's wrong," Shanya replied. "I was just thinking about something." The king shouldn't find out. if he gets angry, then maybe Shanya would have to live in another kingdom. It would probably be a kingdom where he could never find any answers to his forgotten past and perhaps one more cruel than this place that he had been forced to call home.

Reiba looked at Shanya, who was obviously lying his a** off. "Shanya, I know you have a question. It's plain on your face. Just ask, I don't mind." Reiba muttered, pulling Shanya closer to him as he dropped the bag of chips on the ground.
"Thinking about the cave, are you?" Reiba guessed, looking into Shanya's eyes. "What do you want to know about it?"

At seeing the king's eyes, Shanya blushed and attempted to look away, but he couldn't ever keep his golden-colored eyes from looking at those ice cold blue ones. It was frightening, the way those eyes chilled him, but not the way he would be chilled when cold. It was strange, very strange.
Knowing that he would have to answer the king's question, Shanya just took a deep breath to calm his pounding heart. "I... I want to know what had happened that got us separated," he said, though very nervously. "Before I went to that room, I saw a frightened ghost child running away. It probably had something to do with the separation, but I'm not sure if it really does."

A ghost child? Reiba allowed the memory of that hated event flow into his mind again as he remembered every little detail, every person there. Another child? There had only been him and Shanya. Unless... that child had been him, running away, or Shanya, being kicked out of the cave. No, Shanya had been unconscious afterwards. There was no way it could have been him.
"I'm not sure about your ghost child." Reiba finally muttered. "But I do know how we got separated." The young king let go of the younger boy and pulled his shirt off. On his back was the burned mark of the Holy Cross and a snake. "A beautiful thing, a Holy thing, tainted by the mark of Satan. My father thought that to be true with you and me. You be the mark of Satan, and I the Holy Cross. I kept on fighting with him that you were nothing more than another child, so innocent and pure, but my father had other ideas. On the day that your memories were to be erased, my father burned this picture on my back, and made you sit in the corner and literally held your eyes open, forcing you to watch. Those invisible hands, those were the people who held you away while we were both screaming, I in pain, and you in fear that you may be next, probably? I'm not sure why you were screaming. Anyway, your memory was drained away, and the pit was fire was where the court magician threw the water with your memories. That was also the fire that burned the design onto my back. Simply put... it was quite painful for both of us. You wouldn't stop screaming or crying, I remember that all too well."
((Sorry if I'm godmodding. If I am, I'll change it.))

(Nah, it's perfectly fine.)
Shanya had trembled when he saw the mark. It was unbearably familiar to him, and not just because he had seen it in so many of his nightmares. When the king had explained the origin of the scar and what had happened in the cave, the fear on Shanya's face turned into the expression of sympathy or something of that sort.
"It's very cruel of your father to do that to you," he said, very sadly and guiltily. "I'm sorry I asked that question. I made you recall such terrible memories." His thoughts from before were correct. The question wasn't meant to be asked.

"No prob. The maids are always fighting in the morning to dress me because they want to look at it. They think I'm a delinquent or something, I don't know." Reiba laughed, pulling his shirt back over his head. He allowed his fingers to run down the slightly raised skin on his back as he pulled his shirt down, allowing the memories to come rushing back to him.
"You almost suffered the same. Imagine that." Reiba sighed, caressing Shanya's face. "Except... you weren't going to live through it. You were too weak, much too vulnerable and soft. You would definitely have died." Reiba whispered into Shanya's ear, running a hand through the younger boy's hair. "When you were screaming, you kept on repeating over and over, 'I don't want to die!'. Do you remember that?" Reiba asked, all emotion drained from his voice.

Shanya just shook his head. He didn't want to remember any of that. It was probably too horrible a memory to try to recall any of it. The nightmares were already enough, or it may seem for him. Besides, he didn't want to see the king's younger self suffering. He didn't want to see the cruelty of the process that had taken place in that dark room. The story was already too terrible for him to hear.
Right now, he was feeling very uncomfortable with the king standing so close to him, too close. Immediately, he backed away. The blush that had been on his face and disappeared returned, now more red than it should be. Shivers merely ran through him as he felt the king's warm breath attacking his ear. His surroundings suddenly became cold, and the only warmth radiated from the king.

Reiba pulled away and ruffled Shanya's hair, smiling and laughing. "Just messing with 'ya. But seriously, everything is true." He said, picking up the bag of chips and flopping onto his bed. Behind the diplomatic power and high standings, the young king was just a regular teenager. Stayed up late, played video games, ate chips, listened to loud music; all of those things. And he wasn't going to hold back just because Shanya was there.
"Hey, enough about all this doom and gloom crap. Wanna do something else? There's video games, board games... we can watch TV, or we can just go to bed already. It's all up to you." Reiba said with a small smile, smirking at Shanya's beet red face.
