"I see," Elberon smiled. "So small. How old are you, Vergil? Have you been here long?"

Vergil shook his head. "I just got here. I'm a year and a half. I used to live with my brother but he disappeared, and then I was looking for some family and a giant elf named Lore took me here to Cindy, so now Cindy's my mother!" He beamed.

Elberon chuckled. "That's a lovely story, though I'm sorry to hear about your brother. Was he as little as you are? Do you have any idea what might have happened to him?"

Vergil stared at Elberon silently for a moment. He blinked once, twice, and then a third time, and then he said flatly, "You ask a lot of questions, don't you?"

"Vergil....." Cindy murmured but her tone conveyed she did not approve, even though it was an innocent enough thing.

Well that and she knew that Elberon could get out of hand sometimes.

"You ask a lot of question too, but if you don't want to answer just tell Elberon so politely."

Vergil blinked at Cindy. "Politely?" he asked, tilting his head in confusion.

Elberon held up one hand. "Don't worry about it," he assured Cindy, "it's quite all right. I'm used to it." Really, he had been told off so many times that he just took it in stride - and compared to some people, this was quite mild.

"Nicely... not so blunt?" Cindy inquired to Vergil.

She supposed that would be harder to explain especially to someone who had the mentality of a young child ( a smart young child) already.

Cindy looked at Elberon and smiled, "Still...."

"Blunt?" Vergil asked again. "Isn't it good to say what you're thinking? It's honest, right?"

Elberon chuckled. "Honest, indeed. But really, Cindy, I'm no different. You know that. For Valar's sake, you live with Shael, and no one knows that more than she does."

"It's called setting an example," Cindy pointed out to Elberon, "But I do know your questioning can get excessive. I've also lived with father closely before the move to the clan grounds."

And she heard many things from Donovan, but now about Vergil.

"It's good to be honest, but sometimes you can't always say what exactly is on your mind because it can come off rude, or is rude, or isn't even nice. Not everyone appreciates that sort of honestly."

"Setting an example?" Elberon laughed and held up his hand. "I'm an expert at setting examples - if you're meaning examples of what not to do." He grinned down at Vergil. "Sometimes honesty isn't the best policy," he winked. "Upsets some people. Makes them think of what they don't want to think about."

Vergil nodded wisely. "I get it. Careful what you say."

Cindy giggled at that, that was Elberon alright. Though she was sure that wasn't what she had meant.

"At any rate, I was just showing Vergil around Haven."

Though she wasn't sure how often she could visit, she figured it was important that Vergil know his way around.

"Lovely!" Elberon beamed. "What have you seen so far?"

Vergil thought about it a moment. "We saw Haradhel and she promised to get some utensils for me," he murmured, "and we saw Jasmine and Halmir, but they were fighting, and we saw Amdir and a horse ... and now we see you and a horse!"

He grinned, proud that he had remembered all of that.

Elberon grinned right back at the boy. "Excellent. And you must meet Aragost, he's the one that everyone goes to when they have something troubling them. He's sort of the unofficial leader of the workers, other than Lord Elrohir."

Cindy hadn't thought about that, but then again Aragost tended to not visit, probably in the past because of Rhea and her gift.

"I suppose we could head back and visit Aragost.... is he inside or outside?"

Elberon shrugged sheepishly. "Afraid I can't tell you that," he admitted, "he's one person I don't dare ask too many questions to or about. Though on a day like this, there's a good chance he'll be indoors. He likes warmer weather, and it's still early spring now."

Though if he were indoors, he would be sitting by his window and soaking up the sunshine.

Cindy thought about it so probably Aragost was inside, "Thank you, I'll check his room then."

It had been a long while isnce she had sat down and talked to Aragost. Then again unless it was dinner at the Ranch House he rarely went to other people, though plenty went to him.

Vergil looked up at Cindy. "Who's Aragost?" he asked quietly.

Elberon chuckled. "I have to get back to work," he grinned, "I'll leave you two to it then." He bowed his head to the two of them. "Until later."

"See you later Elberon," Cindy waved before heading back to the barracks.

As she did so, she explained to Vergil.

"Aragost was one of the fighters, he's retired now though, but he still makes this place feel safe."

"Feel safe?" Vergil repeated. "Isn't it safe here?"

He was confused. Cindy had made it sound very safe, but if it was just a feeling then was it really safe?
