((Sorry for the sandwich post, but I'm giving this thread a jolt of electricity to the heart. Live, little one, live!))

Emma slipped into the amphitheatre without notice, keeping close to the walls and observing quietly. She glanced back at Scribbler and Farkson, sensing the uneasiness pouring off the boy and the fainter, but still noticeable feel of fatigue and frustration coming from Scribbler.

Worry and Fatigue joined Fear and Frustration in the mental back room, shoved roughly in by the inkmancer and kept under lock and key.
The key was lost under the mild stampede of Folk through the amphitheatre, and even knowing it was a simulation Scribbler found it hard to keep her footing.
She was shunted inside as well with the group, sitting down in one of the rows only because the way out was blocked with further bodies.

"So...what's this about?" she asked the Folk sitting beside her.

[>.<; sorry guys, I keep forgetting about this]

"Are you kidding?" The Incola Noctis asked to her astonished."This is the debate on the biggest crisis we've had in a long time!"

"Those freak humans, have been tearing up our battle mages, and now we're left defenseless!" He shuddered."Infact any humans in the city are now being checked for their mark."

He went back to talking to his peer, as if that cleared it all up.
Farskon sat down in the nearest chair, and shivered.

Those 'freak humans' are worth more than you give them credit for Emma grumbled mentally, folding her arms beneath her breasts.

Her Roman clothing gave her a better chance of blending in, and she struck up a brief conversation with another elf that stood next to her. In Latin, of course.

An old, and decorated man came, in and peoples attention turned to him. He was an elf, and seemed high skilled int he arcane arts.

After a time, he used a spell to elevate his voice, and began.
He was blunt, and went straight the issue rather than an opening speech.

"We have all seen humans," He began, and motioned his hands dramatically."Some are decent, and some skilled in magic."

"Not very good fighters, or strong compared to alot of us, but effective." He sighed."A few moons ago we the Arcane Council had permitted the use of magic for battle means."

There was a silence, and it was clear some still thought of this with disapproval, but they seemed subdued as if they could no longer blame the armies of The Folk.

"Almost around the same time we encountered a new kind of human," He sighed.

Farskon tensed.

Scribbler chuckled, feigning confidence.
"I thought the borders were closed already," she said airily.
Her hand moved shiftily behind her back, covered by the drooping wings.
Give me your wrist...I'll try to obscure it if I can, with a more complicated pattern, she sent to the paladin.

No, trust me it work. I've tried everything it's the one thing on me that can't be altered.

The Elf, named the new kind."Silver hearts,Holy knights, Paladins,"

"These abominations use their freakish magic, and unleash the most wretched massacres of all humans."

"So what do we do about!?" Asked, someone in the auditorium angrily.

"Yeah!" Agreed another.

He raised his hand to settle people down.

"We have thought this through, and some of the Council would like to have a word, but before hand I would like any humans in this building to be examined." He said at last.

Emma sighed wearily. "Of course...because it was just too easy up until now."

It was a good thing she had gotten Hrothbert home before this...she had no wish for that particular human to come to harm.

But it would be fun to watch them try. she reminded herself.

I don't mean change it, I mean it will be still there, just a band of immovable stuff that looks like skin. They won't be able to tell.
The thought was getting desperate now, the small puddle of ink quivering in her palm as the inkmancer caught the next words.
If this doesn't work, shall I attempt to plant a few false marks on some unsuspecting Folk?
PostPosted: Mon Dec 07, 2009 6:49 pm

Farskon replied.Sure, but hurry, and it won't work trust me it will reject the skin.

It was too late.

Two humans got up wearily, and some people laughed.

"Kidding kidding, we have a spell for this; keep your seats."

The other humans sat down.

Then the elf snapped his fingers, and a blue aura encompassed the area.
Then it faded, and Farskon found himself in the middle of the autitorium.

People gasped, and the crowd was murmuring. Farskon looked about ready to cry then, as if he was reliving a nightmare.

The Elf was surprised and shouted out a startled obscenity.

Instantly celestial chains encircled Farskon, and the auditorium changed and morphed with arcane energy.

Into that of an old fashioned court room.

"Any allys of the Silver b*****d know this," A Council member replied, the one obviously casting the spell."Any attempts to aid him, and he'll be done."

The council member turned to Farskon.

"What?" He asked mockingly."I thought you Silver Ones could break through any magic mmmm?"

The atmosphere was tense, a moment ago it was just another assembly, but now....

Emma nearly threw herself at the Council member anyway, and found herself held to the wall by a glimmer of silver and blue.

You'll get him killed. Don't be foolish.
PostPosted: Mon Dec 07, 2009 7:00 pm

Scribbler had a subtler but probably more foolish method planned.
She stood, baring her wrist, a perfect copy of the Mark brandished there as if it had been there.
"Check again," she half-snarled.
A frisson went through the audience as half the Folk found the same marks on their wrists where there hadn't been before, pulsing with a faint blue-purple aura.

Ink travels quickly when spurred by desperation.

"Are you sure you have the right one?" she challenged again.

Emma fought against her sorcerous bonds, but found herself unable to move an inch from the wall. An outside observer would have only seen the elf leaning casually against the wall, but there was much more than that going on.

Now that's just suicidal, darling.

Everyone was confused, and gasped in horror, some already left just from seeing Farskon.

Another council member silenced everyone with a spell, and sighed."Now now, Harpy, I don't know what's going on here, but it's obviously the Paladin's trick."

Farskon almost laughed then out of bitterness, and his ignorance; but he didn't.

"There is another way we can tell," The lead Council member said, and without ceremony activated a spell. A slender fishing string sized needle shot out, and pierced Farskon's chest.

The Paladin winced, and coughed out an ounce of silver blood. It spilled on the floor, and people fled in fear at the site of the human teen.

"There is no mistake."

She lets the spell fall as well, the ink seeping into her veins and those of the Folk. The wrist went limp.

"Paladins are not known for illusion magic. What do you want with him?"
