Circling in her fighting frenzy, Shaishuu found herself in the location she had been when raven-Evangeline first got her attention. She was fighting madly as something or someone grabbed her arm.
She was about to cut it off when she realized it was a child's hand.
The small girl lay among the bodies of wounded Keepers and werewolves, blood dripping from many places.
She wasn't a Keeper, so she must be a werewolf. And they must surely care about her.
Most importantly, she was still alive.
Shaishuu hauled the figure roughly to her feet. She was hardly older than the girl, but feeling well beyond her years she held the girl upright. She kept a tight grip on the limp figure with one arm, and the other hand held her bloody dagger to the girl's throat.
"Stop fighting, or the young one gets it!"

Shaishuu didn't back down. She was the one with the girl; she was the one in control and with the power. After so many long days of disorientation and confusion, this control felt like a salve on all her wounds.
"Tell the werewolves to stop fighting," she shouted back at him. "And we can talk terms."

Felincia was about to shoot another round of silver poison when she heard the wolves whispering.
"They've stopped fighting!"
"What are they doing?"
"They've got the little miss!"
"We can't surrender!"
"But they'll kill her!"
Felincia dodged back inside the tunnel and hissed, "Get back out there! Something's going on!"
They transformed back into cats, crawled into the forest, retransformed, and walked forward as humans.
Felincia saw with shock that Shaishuu was holding a small werewolf girl to her chest with a blade at her throat. It seemed unthinkable that Shaishuu could be so bloodthirsty, but Felincia looked into her eyes and saw only a shadow of Shaishuu there.
The Senior Hunters ran up to Shaishuu, and talks began.
"Surrender," said Dad, "would obviously be the most convenient choice for all sides."

Felincia gulped nervously. None of the werewolves were making a move, and the Keepers weren't budging. Shaishuu looked so... frightening. Like she'd snap the small werewolf in half at the smallest provocation.
Can all little girls get so violent? Were the Keepers right about this?
Felincia shook the thoughts from her head. It was an honor to protect their fellow humans from these monsters.
But they were going to be here a long time if something didn't happen soon.

[[This is getting reeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaly bad. I'm completely out of ideas - I think we just ended the world or something. Stalemate?]]

Felincia watched as the girl was dragged roughly into a cell, then thrown against the wall. "Don't hurt her!" she lectured the young Keeper.
The Keeper looked at her strangely. "She's a werewolf."
"We need her alive," Felincia pointed out. They walked out, with the hollow sound of the thick cell door being closed behind them.
The cells hadn't been used for years, so there were modifications made. Scientists and engineers were at this moment developing handprint-screeners and better locks. The cell itself was deep, a floor above Department O. And the werewolf, even if she had been healthy, had no chance of digging out.
Felincia let herself reflect over the day's events as she walked back up the stairs. Unable to take an upperhand in the stalemate, Keepers had dragged the small werewolf off. Actually, Shaishuu had done most of the dragging. The violent glint in her eyes hadn't left her, and Felincia was frightened for her. She wanted to find her, but after she had been excused she had run off and Felincia didn't know where she was.
The werewolf had screamed and cried until someone tranquilized her. Even some of the Keepers were horrified that Shaishuu had given Evangeline an explosive, and that Evangeline had dropped it while they were talking terms. The crying of wounded werewolves from inside had been mortifying.
Taking a shaky breath, Felincia unlocked her lab and began her newest experiment: reptilian Xedods. More and more Keepers were being injected, now with almost every mammal they could think of. Because of Evangeline, lab heads had pushed off birds for a while. But wildcats, small wild dogs, small cats, and even mice were being injected into volunteers all over the premises. When Felincia was not determining that reptiles could be used for Xedods, she was assigned the task of determining if Xedods could be injected with more than one animal.
Time to get to work.
Time to forget about Shaishuu.
Time to forget the leader of the werewolves, down in the cells, you had named her Felicia and had treated her as a trusted feline friend.
Time to forget the dead on the field, werewolves and Keepers alike.
Felincia wondered, briefly, if she'd spend her whole life forgetting.
