I've beaten both Emerald and Ruby. . .I rather fight the Emerald Weapon because at least if that air attack kills me, I could simply Final Attack + Phoenix and wouldn't have to curse at the television screen because two of my characters got sucked into the sand.

yes i have beaten both of them tho i found ruby alot easier tan emerald tho my friends thought differnt

I got my tail kicked the first time around. So I went the long way around and by the time I got to Emerald and Ruby all chars were at lv99 and I had maxed out all materials and had three copies of mime.

so, most if not all people say whether they've done it or not without saying how, and i feel like i should just say how i did it, i dont really care if someone copies my strategy because its not really that clever, it just takes a shitload of work. this is mostly for beating emerald because ruby really is easy (if you havent figured him out, try entering battle with two of your pary members ALREADY dead ) anyway, strategy for emerald is:

I use cloud barret and cid because cid's limit break is amazing. now this is the part you hafta work real hard at, everyone has their best weapons, zeidritches (which are the best bangle and are pretty hard to come by if you dont know where to look) and since status ailments aren't a problem, you can equip any accessory you want, personally i use touph rings. think that might be hard... maybe not, but the materia needed... is the REAL trick:
one character should have all + time (for haste on everyone) mastered 4x cut, mastered mime, mastered W-summon, mastered KOTR (yes i know, but i did it, and i know a good way to get it done quick which i can clear up later) you should probably use your underwater materia also.
next character should have all + barrier (for wall on everyone) a mastered 4x cut, mastered mime, the second W-summon paired with the second KOTR
the last character should have all + cure (for regen on everyone) mastered 4x cut, mastered final attack with mastered phoenix (someone else can have the other final and phoenix but it just takes up unnecessary space).

NOTE: ultimate weapons have 8 slots and zeidritches have none, so keeping your materia down is important, as well as not equipping counterattack because when you counter attack, so does emerald weapon and it breaks your chain... also, "aire tam" storm is "materia" storm backwards, and does damage proportional to the materia you have equipped... so the less the better

The fight: if you have everything as listed above, this is a cake walk. First, start by casting regen, wall and haste on everyone. use elixirs on members that need healing if this arrises. there are two ways of dealing a s**t-ton of damage
1) have a member with a limit break do their attack (hopefully with crazy high damage) and then keep skipping back to his/ her turn and mime it, if you didnt know, you can create a chain of your own mimed limit break.
2) this is what I used, whichever character has KOTR and W-summon, have him/her cast (twice obviously), after this, simply start a chain where the next character mimes this action followed by the next character. In the event that everyone is knocked out phoenix will revive you and you can always break the chain to heal. I dont remember how many KOTR it takes but i think 12 because i seem to recall everyone miming twice.

then you win and go celebrate, and go pwn ruby weapon in a similar fashion. (just as an afterthought, if you wanna try the limit mime, you can use "hypers" to get your limit up twice as fast as usual. its a pretty basic trick and you probably already know about it, but for those that dont...)
