[Hefin]

{The blades don't lead to war, it's the soldier}

[Traverse Town : First District]

Hefin was ready to get down to business. This woman was hurting his companions and had to be at least driven off. He was ready to charge at her and swing his hammer... when the wail hit him like a tonne of bricks. His mind suddenly shut out the present, and threw his perspective to the past.

------------------------------------------------

Hefin was pacing back and forth in a lobby. The room was populated by other people, either coughing or in visible pain. It was the waiting room in the Vector hospital, back on his homeworld. His wife had gone into labour and was under care of the medical staff. It had been hours and Hefin was unable to sit still due to anxiety. Finally, a doctor had entered and called Hefin over.

"How is she?! Did everything go okay?" Hefin asked the doctor, hoping that his child was delivered safely. He wrung his hands, concern growing as the doctor hesitated to speak.

"Mr. Estalle, there were some complications during the delivery. The baby will be fine and should be healthy... But your wife...

I'm sorry."

------------------------------------------------

"Harietta... No..." Hefin was frozen in place, the pain of the loss of his wife returning at full force. The memory played over and over in his head, fully incapacitating him. None of the events transpiring were registered in his mind, save for one. That was the sonic blast that the siren had released, knocking Hefin flat on his back. Tears now ran down his face unchecked. "Harietta..."

.: Traverse Town | Second District -> Green Room

________
¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯

[Bollocks.]

The cold woman was just about to step through into the hotel when she caught the last part of someone's cry,"-where's the gas coming from?"
Freezing, she quickly swirled her head to the side, glancing at the sealed door. It looked like it was crudely held together by some makeshift adhesive... It was too glossy and firm to be glue, but wasn't transparent enough to be glass. Well whatever it was, Orielle wasn't familiar with the use of such a substance.

She did, however, manage to catch sight of a few faint whisps of sickly green gas and piece all the abnormalities together; gas had seeped through and someone had hurriedly sealed the gap between the doors together.

Now she was in quite a pickle. For gas to seethe through, there must've been a lot of it on the other side... Where Souzourou was...
Cussing quite loudly, she shoved through the door and walked briskly back to the Green Room to get her weapons, damning her companion all the way.

{A heart shed for power is the only heart of worth.}

[Castle Oblivion : Kitchen]

"If you would like to leave the castle, you are free to do so, so long as you keep a low profile," Vereor reminded Masenko, watching as Haruko made another move- she managed to get one of his Sorcerers (Bishops), which made him release a very soft, almost inaudible chuckle. He pondered his next move- he had to keep her entertained, so he didn't end it immediately- while speaking. "Of course, the last time you left the castle, a world was taken by the Heartless, so maybe it's best you remained-"

Vereor tensed, his hand hovering over his last Dusk (Pawn). His eyes narrowed off to the side, as if focusing on something that wasn't there. Whatever it was, it had caused him to stop speaking entirely. And then.

"Understood. Leaving immediately," he muttered, and an onyx gem on his coat gleamed softly. The hand hovering over the Dusk immediately moved toward the Twilight Thorn (Queen), which he picked up and brought across the board and planted just a few paces from her King (Heartless symbol).

"Checkmate," he muttered before standing, bringing his hood over his head, which enveloped his face in shadow. "And with that, I leave- we may have a new ally."

A corridor of darkness appeared, encasing him in black and violet, before dissipating entirely- and he was missing.

~~~
[Traverse Town : Second District]
The cloaked man stepped out of one of the darker alleys, his tattered jacket trailing behind him. He was pretty close to his target, though he was surrounded by two others- a young male swordsman (Wyatt) and a young woman in a bloodied dress (Ayla). But most importantly, he'd managed to arrive before too much had been missed.
"Hey! Do you two know whats going on? Where's the gas coming from?"
"The town is under an attack by two monstrously powerful warriors," he said from behind the group, approaching slowly and with no hostility. "One of them is actually rather similar to you, I believe..."
{Ignorance is bliss... until reality throws a Heartless siege at you.}
[Traverse Town : First District]
Soryuju was immediately pushed higher into the air by the sonic blast, which caused him to lose control of his body for a few minutes, forcing himself to get reoriented before he landed on top of a nearby roof- the roof of the gummi hanger and world entrance, actually. He prepared his spear, and was about to target the poison-user... at least, until the woman spoke.
"I'm sure Vereor will be pleased with this progress."
Vereor?!
"How do you know Vereor?!" Soryuju shouted, looking down to the woman with determination in his eyes. It wasn't exactly a common name, but... what were the chances???
"Do you need me to break your other arm?" Aria asked monotonously as she pushed aside Alex once again with hardly any effort on her part. She shook her head in disappointment before what she deciphered as an angered shout caught her attention. Her steel blue eyes flickered automatically up to the Dragon Knight. Anger... what an interesting emotion. Apparently, she said something to ... anger him.
"What concern of it is it to you human?" Aria asked, her voice was kept oddly calm and neutral.
[Ölüm]
(Unfortunately, there is not a fleck of remorse within me.)
[Traverse Town : First District]
Ölüm had never controlled such a substance as fire. The fluidity was amazing as there was no friction between the air and the fire... The air simply fed the rage of the substance and he loved every bit of it. He had began to burn a few buildings around first district when he realized that he was being attacked by two other fire attacks almost simultaneously. With any hesitation at all, Ölüm would have been singed and his little escapade would have been ruined. However, because he was trained in the art of combat so well, his attention to his surroundings had been nearly perfected.
Ölum's pillar of fire-poison rushed forth to meet the two separate attacks and the collision created a large bang. The result however was unexpected as the poison completely evaporated and was no where to be seen by the naked eye.
"Boring? Oh, but toying with death is such a wonderful hobby! I do believe that continuing is in order here. Now, watch and learn my children and see how your lives will be in further peril. Oh, how I do love peril!"
High above the ground the evaporated gasses began to rapidly condense faster than any cloud would. Quickly, a set of clouds had formed, and they began to get bigger and puffier as more gas condensed... and then it began to rain... and Ölüm laughed.
"This gives a new meaning to acid rain if I do say so myself!"
"No. I need you to shut up," she spat, skidding to a stop. Her blue eyes where hard and she helfted her sword up onto her shoulder. She tried to move the fingers on her left hand but they wouldn't twitch. "Damnit," she muttered.
And then came the rain. She cringed as the rain hit her and it stung. Great, just what she needed. Acid rain, a witch who moved as fast as sound, and a bum arm. Just great.
"Hey, Dragon Boy! We need to get a move on with this, or there won't be enough of us left to fight for what's left of Traverse Town!" she shouted up at the boy with the spear (Soryuju).
[Traverse Town : First District]
Soryuju growled- a low, bestial growl if a human could make one- as the witch below dodged his question. He did, however, catch something- she called him 'human' as if she wasn't one. Perhaps that was the secret to her power? Before he could demand any more information, however, the man he'd attacked earlier started talking, and then... burning drops of fluid began to fall from the sky. The liquid did nothing against his clothing, luckily, but every drop that touched his flesh left a burn mark as it ate away, little by little.
"Tell me who this Vereor is!" he demanded, remaining in the acidic rain, enduring the slow burning sensations it caused. He needed to know. "Who is he to you? After all, what do you have to lose from telling a human like me?"
{You look like you fell down a tree and hit every possible branch on the way down.}
[Traverse Town :: First District]
The pain was excruciating, Suzu fell to her knees at the ringing in her ears. She saw the beautiful moonlit lake of her homeworld and how darkness descended upon it. There were so many dead that night... bodies of warriors sinking into the deep waters, claimed by the goddess. Suzu tried to shake her head of the pain only to watch her brother run off.
"To bail you out? What do you mean by that?!" Suzu asked in surprise, exactly what was her brother planning to do? She saw the magical sparrows take flight, it was always her favorite attack of his. Not that she saw them hit their mark for they disintegrated upon her attack. What did this crazy lady want with them? But she didn't even get to ask that question for she was suddenly flying back upon the force of the blast and then she felt something burn into her shoulder and constrict her airways. Suzu gasped for breath as hell seemed to rain down upon them.
"Why can't you just leave us alone?!" The teen cried out as she cut into the sheet of rain, seemingly with little success. However, from the edge of her scythe flew a torrent of water, crescent shaped like a moon. It crashed into the ruined cobblestone floor before leaping up to take form of a water dragon. It opened it's jaw as it rushed for Ölüm, as if swallowing him in his watery maw would stop the painful rain. Something, someone had to stop this, or they'd all be cooked alive.
[Traverse Town :: First District]
Aria merely stared blankly at Soryuju, not knowing why he was going through the random outburst of anger. She tilted her head to the left, producing quite a childlike image as she wondered about this human. Is that your heart? The Twilight Requiem merely smiled, a small smile gracing her expressionless face.
"Who is he to you, Knight?" She asked simply.
{Ignorance is bliss... until reality throws a Heartless siege at you.}
[Traverse Town : First District]
"How can I answer if you won't tell me if it's the same- UGH!" he shouted, now officially fed up with the witch. The combination of hearing his brother's name, seeing those vivid images, and going through the constant biting pain of the acid rain had made his temper short- and now, Aria would be the subject of his aggression.
Without warning, he dove in Aria's direction with blurred speed- he'd charged his legs once again with energy, but instead of jumping into the sky, he leapt directly at her. He brought his spear back with both hands, ready to strike at her.
Let's try this out!
Focusing intently on his arms, the same energies that powered his Dragon Jump began to feed their way into his upper limbs, charging them with the same energy, giving them the same strength- and with all that charged up energy, he swung his blade at the witch with enough strength to knock her flying a couple dozen meters. Of course, if he missed, then there would just be a nice crater where her body had been.
"Enough games! Answer my questions!"
"How can I answer your question if you don't tell me-" Aria began to retort, finding it all fun and games. But what this knight did next caught her completely off guard. She didn't expect him to move that fast, these humans had been so encumbered through the whole fight and suddenly- who was Vereor to this human?
Aria barely had enough time to bring up her weapon to counter, but she couldn't summon a counterattack quick enough and the force of the attack caused her to fly through the air. But before she made contact with the brick wall... or brick debris by the point, she disappeared into a dark portal only to reappear some distance away. It was quite obvious that the attack took a toll on her, she was breathing quite heavily though she still stared at Soryuju with the same blank expression.
"You answer mine first."
[You aren't good enough for her... drop dead buddy]
[Traverse Town : First District]
Before he could even follow up with another strike his missiles were destroyed even before they got to hit. And after that he was flung back a bit due to a shockwave ruining his concentration. Drat... nothing ever seems to go as planned. It's like dueling with mother all over again! he thought to himself.
Suddenly rain began to patter down, and he liked the rain but when it touched his skin it began to burn. "Tch. A person can't even enjoy the rain anymore." he said while rushing back to his sister's side. "Hey Suzu, can't you do something about this burning rain? It's really bringing down the mood..." ending with him getting into another stance. "Nakitsukidou Stance 2: Tsubame!" he threw out the sparrow missiles again but this time at the male opponent (Olum).
Soryuju barely managed to roll onto his feet, standing up in the acid rain as he locked eyes with Aria. His breathing was rough, but most noticeably, his arms hung limply down by his side, the spear having been dropped to the ground. He quite literally could not move either of his upper limbs, nor anything connected such as the fingers- the immense strain from forcing the energy into his arms was simply too much. He'd trained for years to use the Dragon Jump efficiently, it would likely take just as long to be able to use the Wyrm's Might.
"He's... my brother," he explained in between rough breaths, refusing to look away from the witch who manipulated vibrations and sound. "He's a little taller than me... black hair. Is he the same Vereor as your own?"
NalΘ
"Wanna play a game?"
Nalo saw a puff of smoke and a wall of the diner shatter as Enyb came flying out. The chocobo rolled and tumbled past him back into the poisoned fog. Nalo gasped and ran back out to the mint green bird. He quickly started coughing and tried to hold his breath as he ran towards the bird. His eyes were streaming tears with every step. He approached the chocobo and hurriedly, but to make matters worse, it started to rain, and the rain burned his fur at it rolled down his arm. Nalo started to really panic now.
He might just die in this god awful world. He started to weep for himself, and his new found friend. "Why do I feel so useless...Maybe they were right...maybe I should have stayed in the protection of the.."Nalo's ears perked up and he cursed himself for being so stupid. He swiftly cast shell on himself and the chocobo. Hopefully, this would give him enough time to drag Enyb back out of the poisonous fog.
Try as he could; however, he could not manage to move the chocobo more than a few feet before the pain set back in his lungs. If it wasn't already nearing hopeless, than it was now.
