Cat's cradle, the Maboroshi way? DC:21 (Black Jack!) Formula:1d20+Int Train: 8/10 Roll:16+15=31
Xenon looked at his own radio as Kimiko picked hers up curiously. "I see," his tone was methodical, if somewhat bored. "That sounds like it would be useful, I suppose will our individual skills at such an exceptional level already, our weak point is our teamwork." he raised an eyebrow behind his enigmatic glasses his fingers still making the string weaving look simple. "Though in our defense, we've managed to pull through in that regard rather well before now..."
Kimiko gave him a slightly chiding glare. "It's probably because you always try and steal the show Maboroshi." This wasn't entirely true, she knew, but Maboroshi did have the tendency to steal the spotlight, whether he did so unintentionally or otherwise. Kimiko herself, though she wouldn't admit it, also had the knack of one who enjoyed the spotlight, and it caused her no end of concealed distress when her rival took it for himself...
Xenon seemed unconcerned with the accusation. "My goal is to ensure our success, and failing that, survival, in the most efficient way possible. Personal excellence is my goal, not personal glory."
Kimiko rolled her eyes, still examining her radio. "Whatever..." she held up the radio and looked at Raine. "Do you think Dash-sensei has something planned to test our teamwork again or something? Did he say anything else?"
Xenon merely continued to work with the string, his mind wandering off to other things. Personal glory... in a way that was something he didn't want, but he supposed it would be unavoidable. It would be perfect he could gain the power he desired without recognition, but that would also mean forfeiting the freedom he wanted somewhere down the line. He supposed he would have to endure a bit a fame and reputation in pursuit of that goal. If at all possible though, he wanted to split the fame between the three of them. If Team four itself won the fame, rather then Xenon Maboroshi alone, he would not be quite as infamous, and that would work in his favor later on...

Raine unwrapped the small cord that went from the neck band to the ear bud and laughed at the others' conversation. "Oh, Xen dear. You're so modest." He Pictured Xen standing in a spot light as rose petals fell to the ground and women threw themselves at his feet. He shook his head, it just didn't seem right. "I don't know about you guys, but as the one who takes all the punches protecting the one of you that gets the spotlight, I should get a medal or something." He made his fingers into the biggest circle he could and imagined a shining medal there. The Tekkenseisai wasn't one for humility, he just didn't see the use in it.
"Do you think Dash-sensei has something planned to test our teamwork again or something? Did he say anything else?"
Raine shrugged, "No doubt. I mean he's probably sitting out home in the dark thinking of ways to torture us right now." He thought back to their earlier conversation, "He didn't really seem to know what he was talking about this morning though. So who knows. We might end up doing push-ups or something."

Xenon smiled at Raine's medal comment. He could practically see it himself. Yes, that would suit the tekkenseisai. Glory and riches, it might even suit Kimiko, though he doubted the riches would appeal to her in the slightest. As for him for him though, glory brought unwanted attention, and Xen was more one who enjoyed anonymity, he merely wanted security, insurance that he was the most powerful, and it was even out of practicality. That was the only reason he desired power in the first place...though he had to admit he DID enjoy learning new things, the feel when he mastered a new jutsu, the quiet repose of study, and the rush of a new revelation... speaking of which, he'd gotten distracted from his original goal...he'd been thinking about who Sanako's old friend might be...
Then Raine brought up the image of Dash sitting alone in the dark pondering ways to make his students miserable, and he failed to stifle a laugh.

Cat's cradle, the Maboroshi way? DC:21 (Black Jack!) Formula:1d20+Int Train: 8/10 Roll:4+15=19
Kimiko looked sideways "Ha, you hear that Maboroshi, push ups, doesn't that sound like fun?" she chuckled at his expense. This was nothing new, she'd known back in their academy days that Xenon was a physically weak boy, despite his skill and marks above her in most everything else, it had always been her one up on him in the back of her mind, something enjoyed loitering over he nemesis whenever he got too big for his britches.
Xenon merely continued to work with his string. "Well, actually that would work into my training routine perfectly, if you'll recall I was already working on my condition." he looked at her somewhat bemused "You know though, I find it a bit odd that you would be so cruel Kimiko-san." he was smiling somewhat mischievously, and his tone mirrored it.
Kimiko looked suddenly clueless "Huh?" She wasn't cruel! She was a Heroine, didn't Maboroshi have that down with all the times she'd yelled it at him? Or was this another attempt to tease her?
"I mean," Xenon elaborated maintaining his tone. "That you would pick at a poor little weakling like myself's handicap, when it was something I was born with." his smile was almost spooky as Kimiko was giving him an incredulous look. "Why, it would be like picking on Raine for his difficulty with Chakra." his fingers were conducting the string about almost gleefully now. "How utterly villainous of you."
Kimiko was giving him a dead panned look now. "And you seem SO distraught over it to."
"I am." Xenon insisted in the most unconvincing tone imaginable.
Kimiko grimaced. "Sometimes, I REALLY don't get your sense of humor." she rolled her eyes before looking back at Raine. "Anyway, I wonder if it will be something like before, an obstacle course or something...though...it doesn't seem Dash-sensei's style to use the same gimmick twice either..."

Raine tinkered with the radio, turning it on and sticking the bud in his ear. He listened to the low hum of static and pushed the buttons on the neck band. As Xen laughed, his blue eyes flickered up surprised, was Xen actually laughing at one of his jokes? Raine didn't let his gaze stay long and quickly pulled off the radio setting it on the table. He headed for the little fridge in the corner as the others talked. He stopped down to open it while eavesdropping, only to find the litle fridge empty. He walked back utterly bored only to hear Xen say something about his difficulty with chakra. The Tekkenseisai hadn't thought it was that obvious and let his hand climb to the back of his neck as he wallowed in a bit of self-pity. Soon enough he was out though and looking over Xen's Fingers.
"Hey, you know if you ever needed a Taijutsu lesson, I could kick your butt and teach you something." He quickly flung wickedly fast punches into the air. They would be impossible to count as his fists moved with such lightening speed that they blurred with movement, the shadow attacks could even be heard through the air. He pulled his arms up and held them in a defensive position. Almost unseen his muscles softened from their hardened state that action always brought. The boy smiled,"I totally have your back." He dropped his arms and turned to Kimiko,"I hope he didn't tell you about the first time we met, and I had to show him how Tekkenseisai fight." Raine boasted as usual and crossed his arms actually remembering the fight with pleasure. "Oh good times." He laughed to himself once again turning to Kimiko, hoping she would be pleased that her nemesis had once been fallible. "You should have seen his face when his trusty senbon didn't really hit their mark." Raine was proud that Xenon's weapon of choice was useless against him, it helped his insecurity in every other aspect compared to the boy.

Cat's cradle, the Maboroshi way? DC:21 (Black Jack!) Formula:1d20+Int Train: 8/10 Roll:3 This is why I don't like leaving margin for error... if it was a matter of actual chance that would be one thing, but Gaia just uses a algorithm based on occasionally varying numbers. Ever found yourself getting similar rolls in a row? Kinda like now? stare
Xenon seemed indifferent to Raine's offer. "No, I'd already considered that, but if you were listening, my clan is physically weak from birth, there's no way my body could possibly survive using your style of Taijutsu." he looked sidelong at where Raine's many scars were located. "I wonder sometimes how even yours does." he formed a three diamond cross section "That's why I'm focusing on a more speed centered taijutsu, one more about using the opponents strength against them."
Kimiko rolled her eyes. Honestly, couldn't Maboroshi tell that Raine wanted recognition of his talent...or... she blinked. WAS that Maboroshi's way of recognizing his talent? She shook her head before smiling. "Maybe you can teach me a thing or two sometime Raine." she then looked a little embarrassed. "I mean, I'm strong yeah, but I've been so busy with my Ninjutsu and Swordmanship that I haven't really had time to brush up on my taijutsu since the academy. Even Maboroshi's probably better then me by now."

Cat's cradle, the Maboroshi way? DC:21 (Black Jack!) Formula:1d20+Int Train: 9/10 Roll:10+15=25
"I hope he didn't tell you about the first time we met, and I had to show him how Tekkenseisai fight.""Oh good times.""You should have seen his face when his trusty senbon didn't really hit their mark."
Xenon twitched slightly, an exasperated expression on his face. 'Yes...almost a priceless as yours when I forced you to watch you brother die again...wasn't that hilarious?' he kept his thoughts to himself though, and merely continued to work with the string on his fingers. He understood what Raine was feeling, it was something all of Team four shared. There was not a person in their trio who was built to lose, they all were winners, winners who were not afraid to work relentlessly for their prize. Though they all sought this power for seemingly dissimilar reasons, Xenon could see past that... the truth was they were all very similar indeed. He smiled as he continued his work.
Kimiko was looking somewhat suspicious at her rival. "Yeah, Maboroshi told me about that..." she folded her arms. "Come to think of it, it was right before we became Genin." she rolled her eyes, before looking innocently surprised as though something had just struck her. "Oh...that's right!" she looked to Raine earnestly "That reminds me Raine, we've got to find a way for you to counter the Hien Technique." she pointed over her shoulder at Maboroshi "That jerk found out that it was one of the few things that could allow weapons to get past your Kekke Genkai!"
Xenon pushed up his glasses exasperatedly "If you say it like that it sounds like I was planning on using it on him..."
Kimiko looked at him accusatory. "Weren't you?"
Xenon cleared his throat. "That was before we were placed on the same team. I was merely preparing myself should I run into a similar situation."
"Sure..." Kimiko said doubtfully.

Raine knew he was going a little far with taunting Xen and stepped back still waiting for Dash to show.
"No, I'd already considered that, but if you were listening, my clan is physically weak from birth, there's no way my body could possibly survive using your style of Taijutsu."
"Ha, There's no way I could teach you my form of Taijutsu. You would die." he smiled brightly talking about his one love. "And you make it sound like Taijutsu is only this one thing that you can't do. But there are even more forms of Taijutsu than there are ninjutsu." he pulled himself from the chair, setting himself in a fighting position and holding his hands out in front of him like a boxer. Raine quickly shifted them with palms extended to each side, one hand on top of the other at the center of his chest. He once again shifted, moving his feet this time as well and working through a series of different positions all of which were from different fighting styles. "They all have the same fundamentals though. I could teach you that." As he moved his body his eyes were off in the distance and a quality that was not often in the small boy's personality came through, utter focus, concentration, and levelheadedness. "For you Xen-" He leaned back over one leg while extending an open palm out to point at Xen. "Wing Chun." he threw more quick shadow strikes. "It was invented by a woman and it's moves are specifically designed to use the opponents weight and force against themselves."
Raine pulled back set his hands up at an equal level next to his head. "And Kimiko." He shadowed powerful attacks at an invisible foe, taking them and throwing them against the ground. Jujitsu. Used by Samurai and focusing on defeating armored foes with pins, locks, and throws." He stood up taking a deep breath and sat down in the chair. "I'm just saying."
That reminds me Raine, we've got to find a way for you to counter the Hien Technique." she pointed over her shoulder at Maboroshi "That jerk found out that it was one of the few things that could allow weapons to get past your Kekke Genkai!"
Raine was a bit interested, but didn't have anyclue what the Hien was nor did he believe that it could get through his Kekkai Genkai. He was the human shield. As the thought came to him though, he thought of the scars on his chest, he thought of shattering ever bone in his body against the Taki Jounin. He sighed, he may have been a human shield but he was still human. "What's the Hien Technique?"

Cat's cradle, the Maboroshi way? DC:25 (New DC) Formula:1d20+Int Train: 9/10 (I just looked and all the rolls that counted were above ten anyway.) Roll:7
"True." Xenon admitted to Raine's observation on Taijutsu. "I've never denied that Taijutsu is an art, but aren't you looking at things from a limited perspective?" he laced a finger through the string formation. "Keep in mind that our team each specializes in a particular area of ninja arts, why do you think that is?" he took a moment to push up his glasses. "While it's true their are more official styles of Taijutsu, styles of hand to hand combat, remember the way of the Shinobi itself is based upon three principles." he took a moment to hold up three fingers, sounding like an academy instructor.
"Body," he looked at Raine "Spirit," his eyes flashed to Kimiko "And of course mind." he let that one stand. "It is together these three principles compose the Ninja, one alone will not suffice. For every way energy can be molded, their is a Ninjutsu, for every motion the body can make, a Taijutsu, and for every illusion that bend the mind to the will of another, their is a Genjutsu."
"Each are different, yes, but not better I think. It's a matter of talent, affinity, and preference," he looked at Raine "I've little affinity for Taijutsu, but I still am making an attempt because if one is to be a Ninja, one cannot simply ignore one of the three principles..." he looked back to his string "My mind will always be my strong suit, and I don't dream of ever having as much chakra as Kimiko-san, or being as strong as yourself, but a man once told me that if ever a tower should grow too tall without others to act it's foundation...it will crumble..." he blinked, trying very hard to stop the image of his father's face from entering his mind. The fool... "At least...that's what I believe."
Kimiko was staring at her rival somewhat flabberghast. It was times like this she really did have acknowledge that Maboroshi MIGHT know what he was talking about...sometimes...maybe...sorta. Occasionally. If you were gonna twist her arm about it. Maboroshi really was an odd duck sometimes...okay, most of the time.

Cat's cradle, the Maboroshi way? DC:25 Formula:1d20+Int Train: 9/10 Roll:7 confused You see what I mean though right?
"What's the Hien Technique?"
Xenon took his mind off the exercise for a moment as he shifted his gaze to Raine, more then happy to explain what he had so painstakingly uncovered. "It's a chakra technique that allows the user to give their weapons an extra edge, in a way it's similar to the Hyuuga's Jyuuken, but with a weapon. It strikes with chakra, fortifying the weapons own attack with the power of the user. Unless I'm much mistaken, an attack like that would be able to pierce even your skin., at the very least, it's likely the chakra would bypass your defense, even if the weapon it was channeled through didn't."
Kimiko nodded a confirm. "Yeah, my mom told me about it early today. She said that it was a useful technique for weapon masters with high chakra."
Xenon continued to work with the string. "Yes, Weapon masters like yourself in fact. In your hands it could nearly double your combat capability, added atop the Kage Bushin you recently mastered, I'd say that you might even catch up to Raine and I."
Kimiko suddenly looked enraged, her eyes catching fire. "What's that supposed to mean?! Are you saying that I'm not as strong as you!?"
Xenon smiled "Yes." Kimiko face vaulted at his pleasant bluntness.
"That's it! Outside now Maboroshi! I want a Rematch!"
"I'm sorry Kimiko-san, but I haven't mastered a technique which can heal mental damage yet, I promised myself I wouldn't fight either of you until I did."
Kimiko grit her teeth in frustration.

Raine listened to Xen's lecture, it was sound information. It made complete sense, that is to anyone else besides Raine. "Well, I get what you're saying yeah. I know I will always be best at Taijutsu. That doesn't mean that I can't be great at Ninjutsu, and Genjutsu. I know that it takes me twice as long as you guys and I know that I'm not so good at some things. But that doesn't mean I can't train until I am. To be a good ninja I need all three parts. As a team we have that, but as a person I don't. And that's why I will always loose." He looked over to both of them. "With us, it's like playing rock, paper, scissors." As the thought of the analogy it surprised him that they even shared qualities of to the three. He sighed, maybe Xen didn't get it like he did. He could use a genjutsu on someone and not have to worry about a ninjutsu or Taijutsu coming back. With Raine's fighting style he faced all three and had weakness against two. Suddenly having his Kekkai Genkai didn't seem as amazing as it first had.
Not only that but then they went on with the Hein. The boy listened closely his eyes on the floor thinking over what would happen. "Well.... I don't know. Maybe that would hurt me. Get through." he thought about it for a second. "I guess then I have to think about what my Kekkai Genkai is in the first place." He pulled up his arm and flexed it until he willed his muscles to harden. "I don't think it has anything to do with normal chemicals." he ran over anatomical books in his mind. "Carbon. That's the chemical that defines the hardness of your body. I must be able to somehow control the carbon in my body." he shook his head, "But that doesn't make sense, because you can't create or destroy energy. I can't just pop carbon out of my butt without anything going wrong somewhere else." He let his arm relax. "Unless, I was born with that much in my body and I can somehow activate that with electrical charges form my brain. Or I am somehow using my chakra to control or amplify the carbon, which means that when the chakra blade meets my muscles. It would be chakra against chakra and it wouldn't cut through unless their stronger." HE shrugged.
"One of you guys learn it and I'll let you stab me." he was completely serious which was a bit surprising. As he looked up he noticed the two had been fighting and wondered if they had heard his one attempt at intelligent conversation ever.

She looked back at Raine before her look softened "Though, I guess that is the best way to be sure." she smiled. "Okay, I'll do it. My Mom was going to teach it to me any way, so it's no problem." she then folded her arms looking thoughtful. "You know...come to think of it, I'm pretty sure that I'm going to work on that next. At least that's the way my mom made it sound."Xenon formed one final complex pattern with his string, before taking it off each finger, rolling it back up, and putting it away in the pocket he usually kept it. "Then it will likely be you. I've many things on my plate right now that I want to work on, and the Hien, while useful, takes a back seat to them." he stood from where his sat, giving a slight sigh as he turned his gaze to the windows. "Speaking of which, where is our Sensei? He didn't tell you when he would be arriving did he?" he glanced about the room again and even at the ceiling. "Knowing him though he might already be here..." Kimiko leaned back in her own chair. "Could be...but if he is you shouldn't say that, you'll ruin his opportunity for a flashy entrance."
Xenon looked at her somewhat nonplussed. "Of course...what was a I thinking. The very idea of spoiling a flashy entrance." his tone bore string hints of sarcasm. "You laugh now Maboroshi," Kimiko insisted, "but someday when someone spoils your flashy entrance, you won't think it's so funny." she nodded with the utmost certainty. Then started examining her new Radio again. "Hm...I wonder if these things really work..." he pressed the button with a childish happiness on her face. "Ten four Raine this is Kimiko over, our teammate's a total stick in the mud over."Xenon just stared at them incredulously, before giving a small sigh. He really did believe his hair would be gray even if it wasn't it's natural color...these two...

(Hmm, don't know I'll ask talk it over with kouri or something. I checked the clan profile and it said all physical attacks.)
Raine picked up the Radio quickly and pushed the button in return. "Rodger that, Kimiko. We've got a code gray on our hands, we're going to need backup now. Oh god, he's done it. I didn't think he was capable!" Raine fell to his knees faking crying. "He has officially pooped the party!"
As if on cue, Dash burst through the front door. He stood looking at the brat crew and pushed his glasses up. His hands were different now. For the first time in front of the team he was wearing fingerless strap-on leather gloves. Not only that but the jounin was sporting both his katana on the holster device that rapped around his arms like a back-pack. Dash rolled his shoulders feeling the weight of the crossed blades.
Stepping into the room quickly he walked past Raine and Kimiko and went to the boxes of shuriken and Kunai. He counted out 5 kunai for each of them and 8 shuriken to match. Then he pointed to the radio's on the table, not counting the ones that Raine and Kimiko held. "Grab your s**t and come on."
Raine stood still with the radio in his hand for a moment. The silence filling the room. He had only seen Dash wear his swords when the village was attacked. Quickly he shot glances to Kimiko and Xen before hurrying to the table and assorting the weapons into his pockets.

(Yes I know, but wouldn't you consider a chakra blade a non-physical attack? The way I was thinking, the chakra damage should be added to the reduced physical. But then what's to be said about a Tekkensei said facing a Hyuuga? Your right, I'm not sure, it was just a thought I had.)
Xenon snatched his radio and attached it almost too quickly to a secure pocket on his pants that seemed as though it had been made for just such a purpose, and pulled his coat more securely as he his flicked his wrists preparation, senbon flipping into his fingers, and then back up his sleeve. Refreshingly to the point as always, Xenon was starting to appreciate that about their squad leader.
He followed without question, his eyes a deal sharper then before. A stick in the mud he may be, but he was also no fool when it came to reading an atmosphere... either Dash was in a particularly bad mood, or they were about to do something serious, either way, the young Maboroshi wanted his wits about. As he filed after Dash, he made a circling motion with his finger to a near by tree cluster. There was a rustle, and a black bird took off into the clouds.
Kimiko was a little put off her usual peppy game by Dash's demeanor. Was something wrong? She secured her Katana over her shoulder slid the radio into the pouch at her hip, careful to make sure it wouldn't jostle about. Following after Maboroshi in the line, she couldn't help but wonder what could possibly be wrong...AGAIN. She was all for situation in which she could show off her heroics, but the village had already seen it's fair share of disasters lately. She supposed Phantom didn't count as a Disaster, but then, even without that...
She ran a hand through her hair calming herself. Okay, so long as it wasn't deep water, Ghosts, or , heaven forbid, a Walrus, she was going to be fine, there was no way that she was going to back down. Now that she had her Kage Bushin, she was going to show her team what she was made of!

Dash stood with his back turned to the ground for a moment. He breathed deeply once before pulling his hand up over his shoulders and pulling one of his Katana out. This wasn't the time or the place for both of them. The jounin turned around to face them. "Okay. Put in your little Radios." he flickered his sword up as a gesture before stepping back and jumping up onto a near-by tree branch. He stood comfortably on the think branch, smiling down at his team. "Today's lesson is strategy. Team strategy." He looked over them just as he had their first lesson. "As individuals your wimpy little punks, but as a team of three you are a well rounded butt-kicking machine. Together you will be able to defeat shinobi that far outrank yourselves." he winked down to them. "So today you guys will be working out a strategy without my help. And of course-" he stabbed the sword into the tree quickly so it stood erect and instantaneous flicked hi fingers together in combination so quick they went unseen. The ground rumbled for a moment softly vibrating underneath the children. "You'll be fighting me."
