"Well, tha's th' nature o' breakin' horses, lass. You hae t' keep gettin' on them, or else they'll ne'er let someone ride 'em," Rory laughed, then groaned a bit, holding his side. "Think you're right, though. Might need t' stop by th' doc's on th' way home." He put a hand up on the fence and hauled himself up, gritting his teeth. Instead of climbing over, he went down a few feet to the gate and let himself out, then walked back to where Lee was. "Come on, lass. I'll gae tell Da I'm leavin' and I'll change out o' these. You can come check me fae bruises if'n you want." He gave her a teasing grin.

For once, she had something legitimate to worry about. He'd need to see a doctor? Lee shook her head, her face souring before she, too, stood up. As for the bruises, she intended to check him, whether he was teasing or not, and nodded to him despite the smile. Luckily in this case, her worry largely overpowered her embarrassment.

He walked back to the stables, taking her hand in his. After stopping by his father's office and being shooed away for the day, Rory led Lee down to a small locker room. He checked about before bringing her in, satisfied they were the only people there, and shut the door. "I'll get out o' these shoes and jacket, wash up a bit, an' we'll gae do somethin' less active fae th' day, yeah?"
Walking over to a locker, he opened it up and begain getting out of the jacket, wincing a little. Shoving it in the locker, he sat down on a bench and began working at his boot laces.

Lee sat beside the boy, and while he was taking his boots off, she took it upon herself to do as she'd promised herself she would -- check for bruises. Lifting the back part of his shirt, she sigh and looked away for a moment before pulling the shirt up father to reveal even more bruises. She, of course, didn't dare touch any of them. "Oh, god... Rory, you're crazy..." This was just the first set of bruises. She was worried most, however, by his ribs.

"Tha's what they tell me," the boy chuckled, looking at her. "Help me get these boots off, eh? Then I can gae wash up."

Lee reluctantly let his shirt fall back down and knelt over to help with his boots. "You like doing this, then? I mean, you enjoy working here?" She felt she was nagging him somewhat, but she was a little angry at him for letting himself get hurt. Angry at herself for letting him get hurt.

"Aye, Lee, I like workin' wi' th' horses. It ain't always like tha'. Most o' what I do is like th' stuff wi' Kettle," Rory said, wiggling his foot a bit so she could get the boot off. "Sorry you had t' see tha'."

Lee pulled off his boot and set it aside, sitting back up and laughing a bit. "You dun have to worry about me. You're the one with the bruises." She'd be worrying about him every night from now on, she was sure. Even if what she saw today wasn't what happened most of the time, just once is too often.

"Aye, well, a few bruises, cuts, and broken bones isnae enough t' keep me from th' horses," Rory chuckled, holding up his other foot for her to help with that boot, too. "Just keeps me off 'em awhile, then I'm back t' ridin' again." Once Lee had his boot off, Rory stood up, stretching a bit and wincing at the slight pain that brought. He pulled his shirt off and padded over to the mirror to have a look. "Ach, looks like I got in a reet fight, donnae it now?"
He looked back at Lee and smiled a little. "Well, girl, I need t' wash up some an' you are most welcome t' stay an' watch. Might even hae you help wi' me back." He crossed over to a large sink and set about to filling a wash basin. "There's some wash cloths in tha' pantry there. Can you get me one?"

Lee stood, wanting to see his ribs as soon as he took his shirt off. Glancing past him and into the mirror, as well, she rolled her head back and cursed lightly at the sight. She could tell, though, that despite the injuries, there was very little that would keep him from continuing doing such things. "Just... try to be more careful... or... I dunno, just have someone else break the horses..." She figured he wouldn't listen, but thought it was worth a shot.
Getting the cloth he asked for, she handed it to him before leaning her back against a wall and staring at the injuries on his chest with amazement and slight disgust. She didn't intend to leave.

"They hae me break 'em 'cause I'm good at it," Rory said, dipping the washcloth into the warm soapy water. He started washing up, watching Lee in the mirror over the sink. "They'll hae t' get someone else t' do it fae awhile, though. When I'm healed up, I'll see about gettin' more paddin' placed in tha' jacket." Noticing that she wasn't going anywhere, he smirked at her. "Lass, either you're gonna get a show here or I'm gonna hae t' wait till I'm home to clean up properly."

For once, his words had actually provided her with some relief. Lee smiled and nodded when she heard he'd at least look into some more padding. "Eh?! Oh, s-sorry, I didn't think--" She hadn't known he was planning on washing all of himself just now, and looked away with a small blush, pushing herself off the wall and heading out of the locker room.

Rory just shook his head, laughing. He hadn't meant to embarrass the girl, but after being thrown from a horse several times, he had dirt in places he didn't even want to think about. Once he was sure she was gone, he peeled off his clothes and washed up then changed into a fresh pair of jeans he kept in his locker.
"Lee?" he called when he came out of the locker room, barefoot and bare chested. "Didnae mean t' scare you off, lass."

Why should she get to peek if he didn't before? Holding the teddy bear lazily, she rested against a wall, her embarrassment easing as she waited.
After Rory came back out, she stood up straight, looking down from the small shred of embarrassment left. She kicked her feet a bit before asking, "You're still gonna see the doctor, right?" What if his ribs were worse off than he thought?

"Yeah, girl. It hurts a bit when I breathe, so probably best tha' I do," Rory said, leaning against the wall. "I didnae hae a change o' shirts, so this'll hae t' do. We can gae by my vardo after th' doc's."
