Hargun Aikason
Hargun walked out of the duplex, taking a deep breath. Just as she had faded from socializing as odd as it seemed to her, she had to be woken to finding another one of her friends changing. It was pretty painful for her to bare.

"So.. I had no idea you and Chubbs were.." she began and looked to her scaley friend. She mustve been turning into a lizard of some sort by the looks of it.

Joliette Rigiel
"A couple?" Joliette finished her friend's sentence awkwardly walking moving her heavier bare feet wasn't anything like she was used to. "Yeah... I been sleeping over a lot... last night was... special.. until this" she said quietly as they made their way to the cafeteria. Her long yellow tongue flicked in the very very early morning light takig in all the scents from near and far, very far.. she felt like there was areas of hte isle she knew but had never been to

Hargun Aikason

"Yea." she said blushing a bit. Another one to add to the list.. that seemed to be growing.

"I used to love reptiles when I was little but I forgot.. the tounge senses.. what now?" she asked and watched Joliette flick it in and out. She didnt mean to ask but she had absolutely NO idea of what else to talk about after all tha trama to her.

"I mean.. if you dont mind me asking.."

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette turned her head to look at her friend "Uhm I dont know but it seems 'smell' I am picking up smells of the island I don't recognize" she admitted she wrapped her arms around her torso trying not to catch her Gi with her claws "I don't know, reptile of some kind, only clues I have are what I can see... and feel" she moves one hand rubbing a hte nub in her backside gingerly before crossig hte threshold of hte town hall

Jamal_Reedy
Jamal had spent most of the day in the cafeteria for some reason...either he was hella hungry or he was just really bored. Today he was decked out in basketball shorts and a baggy tee, and unlike the two approaching girls, hadn't yet sprouted a single claw or rouge hair to date.

For now, he was hunched over a bowl of cereal and was shoveling it into his mouth while thumbing through a sports magazine about boxing. All the work he'd done with Chubbs had got him actually interested enough to look up information about the sport.

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose was just strolling out of his duplex on the way to the cafeteria. Angelina was still sound asleep on the bed where she had finally fallen unconscious the night before... after a very... wonderful time. He didn't have the heart to wake her, so he resolved to go get something for her to eat.

He had showered, thoroughly conditioned and combed his fur and hair, and dressed in some of his nicer clothing. Strolling outside, there was a bounce in his step and a wag on his tail. Even the cresting sun on the chilly morning aided his spirits - for once it wasn't sweltering hot. Small favors with a December in the Caribbean.

His ears pricked as he saw two other figures headed towards the cafeteria - Hargun and Joli by the look and smell of them, and he jogged up behind them, not yet noticing Joli's changes from Behind.

He did notice, however, a scent of anxiety and the reminiscient tinge of fear. His ears lay back cautiously. Apparently not everyone had had as wonderful of a night as he had.

"Hey... guys. How's it going?" He was almost scared to ask.

Hargun Aikason
Hargun turned around at Ambrose's voice, happy to know someone else was there besides her to confort Joliette. Especially since it was Ambrose who seemed to be the one gone through the most pain over any other islander.

"Hey Ambrose.." she said and looked at Joliette sympathetically.

She hadnt yet noticed Jamal.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette turned around stopping shortly inside the cafeteria, Jamal looked busy or so she noticed from the corner of her eye, she thought she'd probably greet him in a moment, in the mean time ambrose had spoken, she looked up at hte wolf-man "Hi Ambrose" she said quietly her tongue flicked from her mouth and she shudered at the 'smells' it brought her on it's return and she clung to her arms a lil more "ouch" she gave up holding her toso and let her hands drop to her sides

Jamal_Reedy
Jamal hardly glanced up as the group came in. The voices were familiar enough...

He lifted a hand and gave a lazy, sloppy wave without lifting his eyes from the magazine that was boldly emblazened with something about heavy weight boxing and their training equipment of choice. The black man hardly cared if they saw him or not...he'd probably get up eventually and go be social.

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose's eyes widened as he took in Joli's changes. His exuberant smile changed to a wince with a hiss of air.

"Oh, man.... Joliette... I'm sorry." From the looks of things, and her flicking tongue - memories of Cassidy's first change came back to him. Another snake? The poor girl.... Ambrose idly wondered what the staff had against women.... all of the reptiles were ladies... the bat and bird - losing their hands, a hedgehog with the quills. As high as his spirits had been - all things considered - this brought back the cold spash of fear for Angelina.. and what she would eventually become.

He glanced over to Jamal, the only other occupant in the cafeteria with a nod, though it probably wasn't noticed quite yet as the black man appeard to be poring over a book of some sort. Why had Joliette changed, though? It had been some time since her arrival... btu she was the first newcomer to change in quite some time! Jamal hadn't changed yet!

"Are you hungry, Joli...? I ... I was after my changes." His tone was sympathetic.
"Why don't you two go take a seat by Jamal... I can get us something.... what would you like?"

Hargun Aikason
Hargun looked over, now noticing Jamal after Ambrose mentioned him.

"Oh hey there Jamal. Sorry I didnt.. uh.. notice you there." she said and turned to Joliette. "Yea.. you do need to eat something.. its not just your changes, but you look rather hungry.." she said, wanting to have to avoid looking at her poor friend. Those changes could break your heart.. definately since she knew this would change Joliette's whole lifestyle almost.

Hargun walked over to the food bar quickly though, needing to get something in her tummy as well.

Joliette Rigiel
"Thanks Ambrose" she sighed seeing his initial reaction, she guessed she'd have to get used to it now... "Uhm I'm hungry, but what I want is not all inside me wants... I just hope... I can hold down what it wants..." she added She looked at Jamal "All right, I'm going to sit with Jamal" she scratched her already raw scaley cheek with a claw her yellow tongue chosing htat moment to flicker once more "I'll try a happy medium, can you get me a salad with... meat in it" she asked giving a weak smile then clumped towards Jamal's table her claw-nails clicking on teh lanolium as her heavy feet landed and moved

Jamal_Reedy
Jamal swore as a splash of milk escaped his heavy-handed spoon handling and splattered all over the page much to his utter annoyance. Dammit...well, maybe he could put it back in the 'library' and no one would be the wiser to his clumsiness. He was finished with it anyway.

He lifted the magazine up into the air and gave it a few strong shakes, sending the milk on it all over the floor and on the surface of the table, then closed it up proper and flung it back onto the table on TOP of the splattered milk.

The clicking of nails on the floor brought his attention to the group that had just entered. At first he thought that it was Ambrose coming along, but instead he was greeted with a green-patched Joliette who looked distinctly ill. At first he squinted and stared...were those SCALES among her freckles or was Sabin back to his tormenting? His eyes widened when he confirmed his first guess and couldn't stop himself from looking slightly taken aback.

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose nodded seriously to Joliette. "I'll see what I can find." He said gently before joining Hargun in the lunch line, his own toenails clicking on the linoleum.

He pulled out a tray and two plates, loading the first one up with the meat of the day, the other he put together a garden salad and sprinkled it with ham chunks - big enough that could be located and removed if she couldn't stomach them, btu small enough so as to not be obtrusive, then doused the whole thing in ranch to disguise the flavor.

Heading back to the table with his food and a few drinks balanced on the tray, he took a seat across from Jamal.

"HI Jamal." He spoke - the mood had been dampened some with Joli's change, but not killed altogether. There was an air of confidence about the wolf-man, his tail held high. His fur was still a touch damp from his shower, but obviously recently washed.

"And here you are, Joli... hopefully this will be palatable.." He slid the salad her way then picked up his own utensils.

He weighted how to ask the obvious... glancing first to Hargun - she had apparently 'found' her first. She obviously wasn't happy about it all - but he didn't know if discussing it would just make things worse... or better..

Hargun Aikason
Hargun gathered up a plate of shrimp and some bread.. a little bit of the salad ham as well that she always loved eating at buffets. She hadnt yet lost ALL her taste for other foods, but still preffered bugs over all.

She came and sat back down next to Ambrose, sighing.

She was silent for a while, unable to think of anything wity or cheerful to say like she usually did. It was turning out to be a depressing morning.

Joliette Rigiel
"David changed too" Joliette said after taking the salad, she was staring down at it hoping she could keep it down, she'd not eatten any meat in a lil over three years. she picked up the fork having a little trouble with it thanks to her changed hands. She knew very well the meat was hidden under the sauce and appreciated ambroses' efforts to hide the meat. With a LOT of hesitation she took a bite

Jamal_Reedy
Jamal passed a look of slight panic to Ambrose, wondering how everyone was being so calm about all of this. It wasn't so bad for him seeing already transformed people having an advancement, but to see a completely normal person now looking like...one of them...

"Yo, Ambrose," he managed to say without much waver to his voice, trying to push off his uneasiness with a stout shrug of the shoulder and placement of his arms on the table. However, for once, he felt distinctly out of place among the changed islanders...he was the only NON-changed person here...and for that fact, Joli had been here a lot less time than he had and she was already sprouting scales. Now, either someone was playing games with him or something had to be up.

He held his tongue as the question of "what up" lingered there. Pretty damn obvious what was up, wasn't it? However, Joli's mention of Chubbs being changed made him squinch his face up and he swore under his breath. ******** to ruin a perfectly good thing with his boxing teachings. God dammit, how inconvenient.

"Well s**t." He didn't know what else to say.

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose winced at the news of Chubbs. HIs good mood, it seemed, was determined to be weighed down by the new news. He idly wondered if he would ever be able to keep high spirits for very long here. He made friends with newcomers, and they were all bound to change... right? Even small triumphs or good things on this godforsakenisland were bound to be overshadowed by the reality of the s**t going on.

"Well put, Jamal." Ambrose said without any sarcasm. "Poor Chubbs...." He had always been such a nice, friendly guy. He wondered how he was... or was his absence enough to speak of that. "And here I was about to go... work with him" He caught himself as Joli was sitting right there. "How... how's the big guy doing..?"

He took a breath. It had to be asked. "How are you doing for that matter, Joliette...? I.... we know how you feel..." He glanced quickly to Jamal. Well.. most of them did. And the rest would eventually.... woudln't they? Why was Jamal taking longer? Was something wrong? Did... they need more preparation or something for his serum? Or maybe he was becoming a plant like Anjali....

"I take it.... you're a.... snake...?" He asked, barely a whisper, glancing to where her tongue had flicked out barely a moment before. "What... what of Chubbs...?"

The steak before him gave him an alternative to talking, and he cut into it, red 'juice' spreading over the plate and releasing its 'sumptous' odor to his nose. He took a big hearty forkfull.

Hargun Aikason
Hargun took a bite of her shrimp then shot a glance at Ambrose rather suprised at him. "Shes got claws... and sharp teeth." she whispered to him. Finding the two both close to each other rather frightened looking really slaughtered her mood for the day. She tried her best not to sound bitchy though.

"I was shocked to have found them BOTH changed at Chubb's duplex." she started and looked at Jamal. Now that she ran it over again, he said hed been at the island for a VERY long time when she talked to him in the entertainment room. WHY in the world had he not shown ANY signs of changing?

She also had no idea about Anjali, so she couldnt use that as an exscuse.

What did Moreau possibly have against him, if thats what it was, that would keep him waiting so long.. so dangerously and antagonizingly long to change?

Joliette Rigiel
"Somehow I don't think I'm a... snake" she agreed with Hargun her eyes looking at the claws... she looked to Hargun "I.. uhm.. I'm kinda moving in with him, he asked me to... before... " she blushed averting her gaze again "And then this happened.. David is ok I think, he was going to sleep when we left... he's rather furry now.. among other things..." she picked at the salad and tried to keep her tongue in her mouth after almost loosing it when her tongue flicked and picked up the scent of the meat's juices on Ambrose's plate

Jamal_Reedy
Jamal gave both Hargun and Ambrose a very hawk-eyed glance, noting that they each look at him in turn in a way that gave him the impression they were wondering something about him or they were checking him out for some reason. Eww.

"Sounds like a lizard, if ya askin' me," he said in hopes of not looking as weirded out as he felt. "Ain't that s**t similar ta Amaya?"

Ambrose Maurlias
["Maybe" Ambrose replied. "I didn't think lizards did the.... tongue thing..." Ambrose winced after he said it.. Jolie probably felt uncomfortable enough as it was. "I'm sorry, Joliette... I dont' mean to put you on the spot. I'm sure you'll discover things on your own time when you're ready to face it." He gave her a smile.

"I still have yet to figure out the ... order... however. Maybe some people react different to the serums... or maybe not all of them work. I mean, this is experimental. I would think that it couldn't work all the time." He tried to sound encouraging to Jamal. "Like... Anjali - I don't think that they could really turn someone into a plant." He squirmed, probably sounding like a hypocrite, sitting there covered in fur. He had doubted beforehand that changing beyond his first change would have been impossible.

"I'm glad to hear Chubbs is doing alright." He smiled. "And fur - that's not bad!" /color]

Hargun Aikason
Hargun nodded remembering Amaya's scaley ness. Joliette had yet to show any signs of a specific lizard though and it would take a while to figure it out most likely.

Hargun poked around at her food, but ate most of it after a while. She was still pretty tired, and Joliette and Chubbs had woke her up at a bad time. She yawned and looked at everyone at the table.

"Guys I dont want to sound rude, but I outta bail soon. I was still sleeping when I heard Joliette and Chubbs and Im still pretty tired." she managed to say.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette closed her eyes for a moment after Ambrose's words but knew she'd have to get used to it.. "I think I'll be pulling out my laptop computer's encyclopedia" she said quietly and forced down another bite of the meaty salad

"I think one big difference between Amaya and I though is... she has long fingers..." Joliette held up her free hand "Mine... shrunk"she moved them around a bit before letting her hand lower again "David, well he already knows what he's becoming, he asked the git and was told"

She looked to her friend "I'm sorry Hargun, I didn't mean to wake you up... " she bit her lip a moment looking between the three

Jamal_Reedy
"Oh," Jamal said lamely as each added their two cents in on his guess but shrugged. "Well, whatever. Yous prolly gonna figger it out soon 'nough anyways."

Ambrose's reassuring speech made him feel better...so he wasn't the only person to think that maybe his serum failed! Okay, well then maybe the chance that this was the case wasn't so far-fetched. It was enough to make him smile smugly and tap the table with his nice, human fingers. So what would they do to him if the serum failed to take? Let him go home? Or just wander around the island? Either was a decent option...except the whole going home thing again put him at risk for being picked up by the police.

"Yeah, I'd be so ********' sad if dat b*****d's plan ain't gonna work fo' me," remarked the black man snidely. "Ain't da first time I be puttin' up trouble fo' some crazy ********' b*****d...ain't gonna be da last."

Ambrose Maurlias
"I wish I could boast such luck, Jamal." Ambrose said with a sigh as he skewered another large chunk of steak and then proceeded to chew on it thoughtfully. "Though ... and this bit me in the a** last time I said it... I wonder if he really can change us ... further than we already have. I mean... all of this is pretty drastic. Don't get me wrong - I'm not going to get my hopes up like last time.... but it really is .... unbelievable."

He quirked an eyebrow at Jamal's smugness. Reassurance was one thing, gloating was another. "Or maybe he's trying to turn you into a plant too... or a ... mushroom or something." His ears flicked back. He regreted saying it as soon as he did... but part of him wanted to jibe back after 'losing' the snips the other day. Another part of him wanted to gloat about his wonderful night with Angelina... but that was in even poorer taste. He shut up that train of thought with another bite of steak.

He looked over to Hargun. "I understand. My schedule's been pretty wonky recently... not really diurnal or noctournal." He saluted jokingly to her. "Sleep well, Hargun."

"Good luck figuring it out, Joliette... They told me when I asked as well... but I don't know if your... er... previous bad experience would reflect on their honesty with you."

Hargun Aikason
Hargun smiled at everyone and waved, yawning then turning to the door.

"Bye guys.. hope things cheer up.. or at least get a bit better." she said, and waved a hand lazily before slumping out of the cafeteria and back to her duplex.

Joliette Rigiel
"I do not trust the git to tell me the truth, I gave up on trust with him a long time ago before the green hair incident" she tells him glad to have finally washed the last of that out hte night before. She smiled weakly "Uhmm..." she tried to avoid hte impending arguement after having watched their last bout... Her toungue flicked out and in she knew both scents well now and didn't like the 'taste' they brought to her "So how is... uhm.. What is her name again?" her day's so far activities made the name slip her mind

Jamal_Reedy
Ambrose's jab was well landed to judge by how Jamal's eyes narrowed immediately and glittered in an almost feral way, not at all in a manner that would appear to be jokingly. Arms drew against his chest in a firm crossed position as his jaw tensed, then he dropped his arms to grip the edge of the table.

"Yeah or maybe I jus' lucky and ain't gonna be screwed like da rest o' yous," he said acidly, kicking his chair away from the table and standing, his temper obviously flaring and getting the better of him. They were NOT going to ruin his hopes that he was going to escape this whole mess.

"It ain't ma fault you is how you is and it ain't my fault I be how I be. s**t, I'm ********' due fo' a goddamn lucky break."

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose's ears pressed back and his hackles raised defensively in response to Jamal. "Look Jamal." Ambrose replied flatly, staying in his seat, but matching his glare back at him. "No one is blaming you for any of us. But pardon me if I might be a bit resentful for what's happened to me. To Joliette... to Chubbs... to all of us. None of us asked for this. No one wanted to be turned into a damned animal. And you're due for a lucky break?? What did any of us do to deserve being tricked here for one reason or another and had our humanity stripped from us?" Ambrose tried to keep the growl from his voice. Everyone was tense, and it was so close to Christmas... there was no use fighting among eachother.... he tried to repeat to himself.

He closed his eyes and took a calming breath. "I'm sorry, Jamal. I know how it feels to be.... scared of what... might happen." He rubbed at his temples. "And for your sake, I hope you're right! I hope that no one else has to change any more. I just... I've gotten stung already for getting my hopes up."

He turned to Joliette with a thankful look at the other subject. "And Angelina... she's... doing better. She came out to the cafeteria the other day... met Jamal. She... she's scared too - the same reasons... but at least I've been able to help her relax some I think."

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette anxiously watched the pair argue tensing before relaxing when Ambrose turned to her, the last thing she needed just then was to whitness them at it a second time. She forced herself with queezy stomach to eat more of the salad, she was hungry after all. "I'm glad, I ... I feel her fear... and yours Jamal" she added and shifted her position rubbing her bottom end with one hand she had sat on the nub of a tail the wrong way for a moment when she was tense

Jamal_Reedy
"You ain't got no ********' idea," Jamal snarled, a finger flying out to point accusingly at Ambrose. "I never ********' said any of yous deserved ta get what you be gettin', but goddammit fo' once maybe I jus' got da best end of the deal 'n it jus' be happenin' herr?"

The pointing hand moved now to tug at the hem of his shirt, lifting it up over one pec and shoulder while the other hand jabbed now at little circular scars that marked thricely on his abdomen and one near the socket of his shoulder...remains of his lackluster bullet-dodging career. "You ain't never been shot at, I ********' bet, let alone been HIT...run from the cops eitha, Ambrose? Jus' cause yous a black ********? No, you ain't. So maybe yous best forgive ME fo' lookin' fo a reason to get one ova' on dat b*****d."

"Can't 'spect yous to anyway. s**t. Yous just like them people," he said, dropping his shirt down so it settled back into a baggy drape across his form. "You ain't got no ********' idea." His tone was almost condescending now but the anger on his face was still very apparent. He highly disliked the fact that they could "smell his fear" as it were. One couldn't even HIDE such an emotion anyone with these people around.

"And scared? ********. I be ********' past that bullshit," he said, which was true. He wasn't scared anymore, just...apprehensive and uneasy, which was pretty much a very close cousin, but not the same in his views. He knew what was possibly coming, it was just a matter of when and if.

However, he figured his welcome was wore out at this point and honestly he wanted nothing to do with Ambrose right then, or Joliette or Chubbs by proxy of being one of 'them' now. He had no one to confide in anymore and that felt like betrayal even if they couldn't control it. Even Awen was changed at this point...were there NO complete humans left? He snorted harshly and shoved away from his chair, stalking to the food bar to grab a handful of snack-sized chip bags with every intention of leaving.

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose attempt at peacemaking after his comment had fallen flat. Ambrose hated upsetting people, probably stemming from the situation with his father... that would now never be resolved. And especially when he was starting to consider a person a friend. But he wouldn't back down. Jamal didn't understand, and from the soudns of things he wouldn't until it happened to him. Until then he would be walking on eggshells every day - even if it was another month until he changed... another year.

"And what in the hell is yelling at us going to do, Jamal?! You're right! You ARE lucky! You still have every bit of humanity that you came here with. But from the sounds of things it's that fact that's pissing you off. But you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. You relish that fact, you tell yourself that you're going to be okay and won't change again, then when - fine- if you do - then it's going to be all the harder. I know. But the alternative is no way to live either - dreading the day you're goign to change, counting the days until what you have is gone. That's just as much bullshit."

Ambrose eyed the scars on the gangster's arms dubiously. He had never known anyone who had been shot before.... and just because he was black?? That didn't really happen like that, did it..? He had know of... black people attending the university. They weren't shot at just because they were black. Maybe because he was black and from the slums...? Ambrose knew very little about that sort of lifestyle. "So maybe you've had a shitty life.... but I refuse to believe that there was nothing you could do to take charge of your future... I refuse to believe in fate." Ambrose, perhaps, had seen one too many after school special. "I know it's hard.... maybe not from your perspective, but I did a sharp turn from where my life was outlined. I cut myself off from my parents... from what they expected of me.... and I set out on my own." He grit his teeth, reminded of where that got him. "NOW we're all screwed maybe. Maybe now, in a virtual prison, we're out of control of our lives. And that is maddening! But until now, we were all alive, and we all had some measure of control. Now we're all ********." IT had been some time since Ambrose had sworn.

Ambrose pushed his empty tray away with a throaty growl. Jamal was leaving. He wasn't trying to piss him off - he just needed to LISTEN.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette pushed her plate away and folded her arms atop the table resting her head atop her arms trying to block the fight out. She didn't know what kind of background either male came from, she didn't know them as well as she would like to. Calm they were both great people... Angry... Well Joliette could not put words to them...

Jamal_Reedy
"Maybe I jus' wanna ********' know if I'm gonna change or not. To know if they ********' screwed up so I ain't gonna have to go to bed tonight wond'rin' if Imma wake up ta'morrow wit' fur or scales or ********," he bellowed, whirling away from the food, his face taut with anger that just sort of manifested itself in him out of nowhere. "You weren't herr way longa' then some people and they be changin' and you just get ta sit and guess how long it gonna be. Yeah, dat's a real good game...yeah, yous mighta been herr when no one else knew what was goin' down, but you jus' had the doc's word to go off n' there weren't no walkin' examples 'round ta go against."

A hand beat his chest sharply with a loud thump as though emphasizing his presence there.

"Ev'ryone be tellin' me I been herr so long and ain't done jack s**t...you think that's a'ight? You think dat makes me feel good so I get ta walk in limbo?"

The black man drew a sharp breath and an oddly relaxed expression took over his face, yet his mouth curled and eyes glittered with a look of irony and acceptance.

"But s**t, dat's a'ight. Yous don't believe in fate...yous been spoonfed all yer life...yous one of them high 'n mighty white folk who kin afford ta pay da bills and buy expensive s**t...so o'course you figger it so easy to jus' change a way of life. But by god, when a ********' black man might succeed where folk like you ain't, well..."

Jamal basically lost all respect for Ambrose at this point because to him, Ambrose had turned this into something that it shouldn't have turned into. The blonde had always oozed rich and well-off since the day that Jamal had met him, but he tried to put that off in hopes of banding together to get through this bullshit...but at this point, Ambrose had started spouting almost how no one's life could have been harder than anyone else's and that ticked him off. Self-righteous? Basically. Did Jamal care? No, because he had never intended to come off like he was better than anyone, even if he privately thought he was in some aspects.

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose rose to his feet now, hackles raised. He could hear the scorn in the man's voice, and he couldn't stand it. He sure as hell wouldn't run, tail tucked back to Angelina after that.

"You're right. I didn't have my posible future looming over me when I arrived. But in a way, I think it was worse - I had no time to even have the option of preparing myself for what was to come! Everything was hunky dory - people were kidding about something top secret going on here, and then BAM! One day I wake up and I'm growing fur and claws. I'll tell you what, Jamal, it scared the ******** out of me. I didn't know what the hell was going on. I thought there was some kind of damned mistake. I was the freak among everyone else who was completely normal. No matter how much they comforted me... I knew they saw me as different. Then I watched it happen all around me and I came to the slow realization of what was going on. No convenient pre-packaged truth of the matter." Ambrose slapped the table.

"And yes, My parents had money. But you know what?? That doesn't necessarily mean that i had a good life growing up. Have you ever been told how to act? That the things you wanted or the things you liked were wrong? Were unbecoming? Being constantly compared to someone else? But you know what - I finally stepped back - and realized I couldn't live my entire damn life for a reason I didn't believe in. And I left. I left the money and the 'silver spoon' as you would say. And I had trouble paying bills, and I had to scrape to live the way I wanted."

He was trying to keep his voice from wavering. "And why the HELL do you think I'm here, huh? Because I was ******** Desperate for money. I needed Five thousand dollars so that I could keep going to school... so I could keep fencing... to maybe, maybe reach my dream of the olympics. Well THAT's ********." AMbrose's eyes were stinging.... in his conviction... yeah... conviction.

He turned his back, crossed his arms, trying to mask the wiping of his nose from Jamal.

God DAMN it Ambrose, don't lose it.... don't show him this.... He bit the inside of his cheek hard - harder than he had intended with his now sharp canines - and focused on the pain of the cut instead of the pain in his chest.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs walked very slowly into the cafeteria, he was still feeling tender, the fact he put a dent into the wall using his body didn't help. He frowned hearing the argument, it rang through his new ears and he held onto them to trying and block the noise. He then looked over to where it was coming from, Jamal and Ambrose. Two people he though were his friends now bickering at each other.

He winced hearing the words thrown at each other as he tried to uncover his ears. He looked partly scared and partly angry. He felt it was a barking match that he should be winning, that he should yell over them. Chubbs eased himself into the room and looked between them like he he should do something, and a ugly gut felling made him feel sick, something telling him to smack them both out.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette hadn't moved much trying to block it out, her tounge flickered and picked up another scent, a very familiar one. She lifted her head and turned it "David" she said quietly and stood abandoning her food in favor of what felt to her like protective arms in the midst of the fighting and just as sore as he she headed for Chubbs

Jamal_Reedy
"s**t, dat's betta than bein' dropped on an island and bein' met by a bunch of people who looked like ********' MONSTERS outta a movie," he retorted harshly. "I'd be givin' anythin' to go back ta not knowin' and just havin' it happen if it gonna. Then I ain't gonna have ta deal wit' no what ifs...just what nows."

The scorn never left his voice, but it was mingled with almost an inflection desperation as he spoke. He was still very angry about everything now, it seemed.

"And at leas' you got dat time in a nice place wit' food all da time and s**t. I ain't been so lucky and maybe yous need ta realize things ain't a goddamn picnic fo' ev'ryone in there life...so I wanna hang onta this ONE THIN' and yous gonna tromp all ova it? Aw hell naw. Ya can be bitta' if ya want, but don't take it out on me. Yeah so yous got stuck herr cause you lookin' ta get more educated o' ********, but some o' us come herr because we ain't got no choice. SOME o' us be wanted fo' -murder- because we jus' tryin' ta get by and survive back home 'n s**t happens. I was tryin' to change my life...get away from fate as yous like ta put it, but brotha can't get no break anywhere. So how 'bout you just shut da ******** up 'n let me cling ta whateva ********' sign of hope I got?"

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose barely noticed Chubbs enter in the room - he was seeing red. He would NOT stand here and be scorned by this man!

"At least YOU have the luxury of foreknowledge. Say what you will, but I would wager that if you woke up, even back where you were from, one morning and looked like a monster with no warning you would be scared as hell! Scared of what people would think of you - that they'd be scared of you - hate you...."

"I never tried to make this harder for you - you're the one stirring something up, Jamal! You're seeing people all around you losing your humanity one by one and you're blaming US for it instead of Moreau like you should be!"

Ambrose froze... as that last tidbit of information was passed along. "M... Murder??" Moreau let a damned killer on the island?!~ He knew he was insane.... but that?! No... he knew Jamal... had worked by his side for days, talked with the guy.... he wasn't that bad... not some... serial killer or something... there had to be an explanation... right? But still... Ambrose's tail lowered a bit with that news from where it had been sticking straight up and bristled a moment before. He was trying to change things... like me... I can re... respect that! But.... MURDER?!?!

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs wrapped an arm around Joliette, he balled his fist, not out of anger, but so he wouldn't touch her with his new nails. His head dashed back and forth between Jamal and Ambrose like watching a tennis match, and just as annoying.

He held Joliette tighter as he fel himself growing hotter under his clothes. Why was everything suddenly crashing and burning? The lastest days felt like a rollercoaster, going so high and feeling up, then suddenly plummeting to the ground.

" W-..we can stand here, and argue here till... till we are blue in the face. But that just makes us animals... You two, there's no need for this...We all have our points of view.. our own opinions.. a..and we can either agree or disagree. W- we got to stay together... we are the only family each other has now... there's no one else we have."

Chubbs was trying not to cry or go completely ballistic at them both, it was so hard, he wanted to shout, he was angry at what had happened.

" I lost my family.. twice now, I.. I need to believe that you are my family now.."

Chubbs clenched his fist, wanting to hit something, he'd only ever felt like that around Sabin.

" I can't lose another family again.."

Joliette Rigiel
"We all got trapped here at various stages of the doctor's plans, and he keeps adding new people all the time, and none of them are told hte truth, they are left to find it out from us. All of us hope i's not going to happen to us, all of us hope to get away, no matter what our backgrounds, no matter what we did in the past, we are stronger as one then we are divided as many" Joliette said quietly after David had finished speaking

"Please guys stop fighting" she shook slightly the day becoming nearly too much for her already

Jamal_Reedy
Ambrose might have lose some of his fire, but Jamal was far from it. He was quickly rising to the point he had so desperately tried to stay away from since he's been here...a point he hadn't been to since that night in the alleyway that ended his life as he knew it.

"I NEVA ********' SAID IT BE YER FAULT O' ANYONE ELSES DAT HAVE THIS s**t HAPPEN FAULT," he practically roared, the desperation gone and replaced with refueled anger that deepened the severe creases about his eyes and forehead as he practically vibrated. "When did that -EVA- ********' come outta ma mouth!?!"

The appearance of Chubbs only made him more angry because he knew the man was going to try and get involved...and he did. Jamal didn't listen only because he liked Chubbs enough to not want to start a war with him too...the man had never given Jamal a reason to not like him.

Jamal paused, realizing now what had just slipped out of his mouth, and an intensely bitter expression spanned his darkened features. Ambrose had made him so angry that he had let slip the one thing he had been so desperate to keep from everyone. Great...just ******** great. Now he was an angry black man who was a known killer.

His eyes acquired a hollow, worn look even though he continued to hold a snarling posture with his mouth, but he looked defeated in a way that was hard to put your finger on...maybe the slight slouch of his shoulders gave it away.

"You ********' win," he said more quietly though he continued to seethe internally. "I'm jus' a stupid, black, murderin' b*****d who don't know nuthin' 'bout anythin'. Ya be sure ta let all yer friends know....but don't botha tellin' Awen. She already know."

His clenched fist loosened and the bags of chips he had not long ago grabbed onto scattered to the floor with a crinkling plop as he turned for the door, nearly wrenching the handle off as he flung it open.

Ambrose Maurlias
Chubbs' words rang true with how Ambrose was feeling as well - just didn't have the same words to express, the sentimentality as opposed to the frustration that was lacing his words with growls.

But Jamal was gone before Ambrose could repeat the words about unity being necessary here.... Yelling wasn't going to get any of them anywhere except slipping more to the bestial sides that most of them wanted to pretend they didn't have.

"Arrrgh!" Ambrose called eloquently after his retretaing figure. "You accused ME of taking it out on you!" He kicked at the table and grabbed his tray roughly, taking it to the return slot where he virtually threw it in with a snarl. His hackles were raised and he was frustrated and angry - Jamal was misunderstanding him! And Where the hell had that outburst come from anyway? Was it because of that damn joke about the mushroom? Jamal was on edge and he should have realized that and not tried to poke at a wound that was obviously sore.

Ambrose paced between the table and the door - debating between going back - but taking this frustration home to Angelina, or staying here and being frustrated.

With an audible sigh, he turned a sympathetic look to Chubbs. "It's... not my fault!" He protested, exasperated. "I agree with you! We can't fight! We're in this together! That's what I was trying to tell him too! Arrrgh..." He snarled, and sat heavily next to chubbs with his arms crossed.

He took several slow breaths with his eyes closed again. "I'm.... sorry ... both of you.... that you had to see that... and... probably not helping your morning any that was already stressful enough."

He... wondered about the family comment.... but didn't pry.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs pulled the saddest look as Jamal stormed out. He wanted to go do something, he wouldn't be able to catch up with him if he tried.Chubbs sighed and looked to the floor, he for once didn't feeling like breaking something and sat in a chair slowly.

" Ah! nut sack!... damn thing"

Chubbs winced and ran his hand over the nub on his back now. He watched Ambrose get some frustrations out in the cafeteria. It looked almost good to Chubbs.

Chubbs took a deep breath and stratched as his cheek while running his tongue over a canine. He listened to Ambrose and nodded. The guy was trying, he saw that.

" It's okay... don't fret mate... things will work out... christmas is coming up... we could all use a bit of some holidat cheer, even if it's a fuzzy one"

Chubbs smiled as best he could, but it seemed sad.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette stayed close to David even as he sat. "Furry and feathery and ...scaley" she said quietly watching her furry friend pace "We have each other, and thats about all we have, but it's what counts" she sighed and pulled another chair close to sit down, she looked at David taking in his features truely for the first real time since the change

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose huffed, the adrenaline fully wearing off and he leaned forward with his elbows on his knees.

"Thanks, Chubbs..." He said with a ghost of a smile, glancing over to his now furry pal, his eyes skimming over the features. For some reason, seeing the man sprout fur and fangs and claws wasn't nearly as much of a shock as seeing the scales and tongue on Joli.... maybe he was biased.

"Bet you're sore..." He said quietly. "I was.... when... it happened to me. And hungry."

He scuffed his foot on the tile, looking down at his own claws. "Yeah.... but there doesn't seem to be much of the ol' Christmas cheer going around, does there? I can't even go shopping for presents. And... I've been so preoccupied with everything else.... damn... I should have been trying to do something. As horrid as it sounds, I'm not used to making things for Christmas." He was rambling, trying to get his mind off of the argument, but he was still tense.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs noded slowly to Ambrose, he was sore, like he'd done six hours training at a gym, he ached all over.

" Friggin killed changin"

Chubbs looked towards Joliette, noticing she'd been watching him closely. He got a good chance to see her closely now. He must have looked so different, he didn't want to see his face if he could help it. Chubbs stuck his hand on Joliettes, then tried to hide his claws again.

The smells from the cafeteria were getting to him, Chubbs took in a deep sniff before looking to Ambrose.

" It's understandable about the gifts... but well ya helping me bring one to the community"

Chubbs tapped his nose at Ambrse and gave him an all knowing wink to suggest to keep it hushed in front of Joliette.

" We don't have much to do left.. I umm could help ya whip up something for Angie if ya like.. all you need is imagination Ambrose"

He stroked Joliette's hand as he spoke.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette took his hand and opened it un-hiding hte claws she lifted a hand wiggling her own longer and rather much sharper ones "Don't have to hide them from me..." she really didn't want him to hide things from her, if he did he would be the rest of their lives and there was no point to that.

She said nothing about the 'surprise' she knew he wouldn't tell anyways there wasn't any point, besides the fact she had resided herself to waiting for the surprise, it wasn't all that long left anyways

"Sometimes homemade presents are better then anything one can get in a store ambrose, because it's our heart that goes into it rather then someone else's or a machine's" she smiled softly looking at the wolfman

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose nodded weakly. After the argument he felt tired. The frustration was still there - he hated seeing his group of friends falling apart - arguments over stupid things, arguments about what was happening to them when the problem was outside them.

But a part of Ambrose was still hung over Jamal's admission... the murder.... he didn't sound proud or threatening with that statement, but regardless of that fact it gave Ambrose chills, and didn't help the admitted stereotype that Jamal had brought up.

"I'll think of something guys, thanks." He looked up to them, glancing at their held hands, with a small smile. He could sense their.... connection. relationships seemed to be budding all over the island. People put together in stressful situations needed companship, comfort...

"You.... ah.... you two take care. I'm glad that you have eachother with all of this. And I'm here too, of course." His tail gave a small wag. "If you ever need to talk... about anything. What you're feeling.... the changes..."

He took another deep breath and stood up, walking towards the door where he paused, debating where to go.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs smiled lightly, and even through the change, he still blushed. What's more his fur and hair seemed to blush as well a little. He nodded to Ambrose and cupped Joliette's hand in his.

" I .. I appreciate it..Ya a good friend Ambrose"

Chubbs watched him head out to leave, and he turned to look at Joliettle, aching a little bit still. He smiled at her, for even through the change, he still could see the love in her eyes.

Joliette Rigiel

"Take care Ambrose and say hello to Angelina for me" she says watching him leave for a time then looking back to David "Hungry?" she asks softly and then glances over her shoulder at her ranch drowned ham salad knowing she was still hungry herself

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose paused with a more genuine smile to Chubbs at his compliment, his tail wagging again. "Thanks Chubbs.... you too." He nodded again, giving the pair a wave.

"And I will, Jolie. Good luck to the two of you.... the changes... they don't look that bad.. Honestly." He gestured to them.

With a final wave he headed out, letting his feet carry him wherever.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs took a deep sniff in the air and the smells asaulted his senses. He felt himself almost salivate and his stomach growled loudly, almost like there was an actual wolverine in his stomach. He blushed a little and smiled to his love.

" I ah.. think my stomach is talking for me"

He rubbs at his stomach and looked over at the display of food with hungry eyes.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette nods "I'll meet you at he table then... Ambrose got me some food when I got here earlier" she stands and kisses his furrier cheek and awkwardly as she is still getting used to the changes in her feet walks to the table to sit

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs nodded and stood on his feet with some effort with his eeyes closed. The aching sucked big cheesey nuts, it wracked his body as he walked. He headed towards the counter and grabbed a plate. The food looked good. He started grabbing a couple of chops, then a steak, and some more of both. He placed some vegetables on the side, for some reason he didnt't feel like them that much. Chubbs grabbed a soda and a knife and fork and made his way slowly to Joliette and sat.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette had begun to spear at her salad again and eat it, she found it somewhat surprising that she tasted little to nothing until she went to swallow and thats when she had to foce herself to swallow the food. She looked at him her yellow tongue flicked out and in and she made a face it smelled ... like meat, and while some of her wanted it, she was having a hard time mentaly dealing with it and trying not to get sick and lose her lunch again

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs looked over at Joliette, and smiled lightly. Je rand a hands slowly across her cheek, he skin felt a little different but she was still his soft and gentle Joliette.

He began to cute up huge chunks of steak and chew the, popping them in his mouth passed his canines. The meat felt good hitting his stomach. He looked over at Joliette once more and chewed his upper lip.

" I um.. didn't hurt you... last night did I?"

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette shook her head "No, climbing over me didn't tickle, but the changes hurt more... Don't worry" she leaned her cheek into his hand and then stared down at the mostly greens picking at them as he gobbled down the meat

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs smiled as he chewed and blushed shyly. His hands petted her check again, hoping his nails didn't scratch her. He wished he didn't clamper over her this morning, she must have been in pain enough with out him kicking her.

" Ummm actually.. I meant before the changes"

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette pause eatting smiling thinking about before the changes and before the nitemare "No David you did not, not at all" she turns looking up at him happily

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs smiled and took a deep sigh of relief, he was glad he hadn't. He took up a napkin and wiped his mouth and lips as he watched her. He wanted to show he was still there for her, that the change didn't matter. He only hoped she felt the same as he slowly leaned over and kissed her lips.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette smiled softly and returned the kiss, she was glad nothing had changed them in that way, she pulled away after a time looking into his eyes her tongue flickered and she sighed "Gotta learn to control that" she grumbled unhappily

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs chuckles a little and smiled at her flickering tongue. He'd still been able to kiss, which was good.

" I dunno, It kind of has advantages"

Chubbs smiled cheekily and blushed a little, then bit his upper lip. His teeth stood out easily.

" Hmmm have to get used to these too."

Joliette Rigiel
"Lots of changes to get used to, changes I wish I didn't have to get used to but what can I do, what can any of us do" she reached up and touched the tip of his wet nose with the back of a finger so that her sharp claw didn't poke him

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs rubbed his nose along her finger and sniffed at her. He grinned and chuckled a little.

"Ooo hey you smell like my cologne... oo smells nice on you"

Chubbs took in another big sniff and closed his eyes, looking like he was in a dreamy state. He knew this would get a giggle out of her, something he needed to hear.

Joliette Rigiel
"Gee I wonder why I smell like your cologne" she grinned and her tongue flicked out and in, her grin revealed her mouth of pointy teeth. She tried to stiffle her giggle but his continued dreamy expression caused her to not be able to contain it "Silly David"

Chubbs MacKraken
" Sillier than a derangd lunatic, more powerful than Joliette's giggles, able to smell cologne in a single bound... it's Super Sized Combo!"

Chubbs then made a classic superhero pose with hands on his hips and a grin on his face.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette managed to keep a straight face for all of 3 seconds by the time he finished and disolved into a fit of giggles over his antics, after a moment she toppled "ouch" she squeeked between giggles not trying to get up from where she lay fallen

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs chuckled and smiled softly, only frowning some as she fell over. He grunted and got to one knee and scooped her up with a chuckle.

" I'm sorry.. heh .. I just needed to hear you giggle"

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette took a deep breath and looked up at him "It's ok" she finally got out, "I shouldn't have let myself fall though, that hurt" she was more then happy for his assistance up once more

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs rubbed his cramping hand over hier shoulder and sides where she fell. His hands weren't all that good at the moment, they were both bruised from hitting the wall like he had. He lifted her onto his knee and from there he put her back into her seat with a smile.

" I'll just have to hold you more... so you don't fall"

Joliette Rigiel
"Do we want to stay here?, or head out from here, I'm done eatting all I'm going to be able to... I am having a hard time with the one topping of that salad..." she motioned at the salad which looked more like a puddle of ranch dressing with some greens sticking out now

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs looked at the salad, then the plate of his and dumped her salad onto his plate, standing with a wince.

" I can.. take this home and eat it later"

He looked down at his hands as he picked up the plate, it felt weird to have those long nails, he concidered clipping them. He offered his other hand to Joliette and smiled, his teeth stuck out som, but he tried.

Joliette Rigiel
"Oh David you dont have to take the salad back to the duplex, I'm sure they are used to unfinished meals here" she said accepting his hand and standing up once more

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs blushed and smiled, holding her hand as best he could as he walked with he to the door.

" I umm.. felt like a salad... it looks nice"

Joliette Rigiel
"If you like greens and ham drowned in ranch dressing it's ok I suppose..." she made a face "Least hte dressing blocked hte meat taste for the most part, I only really seem to taste when I'm about to swallow which sucks"

Chubbs MacKraken
" Oh it doesn't sound too bad... gives something to go with the steak"

He pushed the door open and held it there for them to both head outside.

" I have a better treat to taste on when I get back anyway"

Chubbs smiled and winked at Joliette.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette giggled softly and slowly walked with him back into the daylight, she stopped breifly looking up at the sun with her eyes closed. "Nice out here" she mused quietly "I think I will pull out my laptop's encyclopedia after we get back"

Chubbs MacKraken
" Going to look some things up?"

Chubbs smiled and stroked her hand with his thumb abd looked up, feeling the sun beat down onto his furry body. He actually felt a bit hot.

Joliette Rigiel
"I trust the staff here about as much as I trust a pirahna to not eat meat... We have some clues, maybe we can figure it out without them..." she mused walking again with him but staing in the sun whereever possible

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs lead Joliette into his duplex, he headed over to the fridge, placing the plate inside. He reached up and flicked on a lightswitch, turning around he gasped spying his room. The place had been repair, the wall was smooth again, his chair wasn't in pieces, it was mended and whole.

" Holy s**t"

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette walked in and stared her tongue flickered "Someone was here obviously, the scent isn't familiar though..." she ambled in taking hold of her laptop in her hands as she inspected all the repairs

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs blinked and walked over to the bed and crawled over. His clawed hand brushed over the wall and he was amazed.

" It's all dry"

He knocked on the alls, it even sounded solid. He found his position started to hurt badly and he laid down on his stomach on the bed, shaking his head.

"That's creepy"

Joliette Rigiel
"You're telling me" Joliette shakes her head slowly feeling stilll quite sore. She sits down and turns on teh laptop slowly pecking at the keys with the ends of her claws and soon has the encyclopedia open "So what do we know... reptile, claws, yellow tongue, meat eatter..." she looked to David to see if she missed anything

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs smiled and settled next to her, resting his head on a pillow.

"Tail, cute, attrated to furry animals, sweet, kind and gorgeous"

Joliette Rigiel
"If my hands didn't hurt i'd swat you for that one" Joliette giggled as she inputs the pertanent data into the program and letting it run. She hoped it would give her the answers without going to the git....

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs smiled and moved himself a little closer to his, twisting his cap around, he leaned over and kissed her left hand with a smile. He tried to be good, but he found joy in amusing her.

" Sorry hun, wouldn't want you to do that"

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette smiles her tongue flicked out and in and she looked back athe screen "This is gonna take hours, I can think of better things to do while waiting..." she pushes the laptop onto the side table and faces him laying on her side "Like seeing exactly what changed on us..." she runs hte side of one claw against his shirt

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs smiled and rolled to his side to face her now. He slipped her hand into his own and cupped it gently. He gave her fingers and her lips a gentle kiss before slipping his cap off. Then looking down at his shirt, he started slowly pulling it over his head.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette's eyes followed his shirt's movements, "Wow" she murmurs and reaches resting her hand on his furry chest and feeling the fur under her touch. So very much different then the night before, but not terrible...

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs bit his upper lip, he would have bitten his lower lip but it hardly possible with his new teeth. He blushed lightly and closed his eyes as she stroked the fur on his chest, It felt rather nice. He sighed and smiled and looked back to Joliette and watched her reactions.

Joliette Rigiel
"Not to terrible, it's not..." she mused she leaned closer resting her cheek against the fur before sitting up andwincing slightly when she lands wrong on the nub of a tail behind her "I not gonna get used to that I swear" she mumbled to herself and then undid the belt of her Gi slipping the top off looking at him

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs ran his hand along her bar shoulder, and then her back, pulling her closing to him. Her skin felt a little leathery and scaley but still mostly soft like he had remembered. He reached down and softly ran his hand across her tail.

" I hope it feels better soon..."

Chubbs looked to Joliette, feeling her close to him and he smiled lightly, then suddenly smirked and coughed a little.

" Well now, seems part of me still works the same"

Joliette Rigiel
"Me too I'm not used to it being thre, I dont know if I ever will be used to it. " She smiles softly, "well thats a good thing at least" she giggles and her tongue flicks out accidently catching his chin for a second before returning in her mouth "Ugh I have got to learn how to control that so it doesn't do it on it's own at such inopportune times"

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs grinned lightly and blushed as he looked at her eyes. He blinked then chuckled as his chin was licked, it tickled him there. He rubbed his thumb under his chin, then flicked his own tongue at her nose.

" Oh I don't know.. I kind of enjoy it"

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette made a face the lick felt weird, especially against the scales. "You get a tail?" she hadn't focused on hie rear end as of yet but she was certainly curious as she plaid with the waistband of her Gi bottoms

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs nodded and shifted himself to have his back more facing her. there was hair on his back near the shoulders and on his lower back where the tail sat hanging over his shorts.

" Yeah. bears actually have a small one, devils have a lil long skinny one, like a dog, and wolverines have a puffy one sorta"

Chubbs felt around his back fur on the lower half.

"The fur is like everywhere, and I mean everywhere"

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette propped herself up a little looking at his tail and then reached and gently felt it with the back of her fingers not wanting to accidently scratch it. "couldn't be a teddy bear if it didn't" she said trying to make light of the situation and kissed his cheek

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs blushed, giving his fur a tinge of red, and he rolled over to accept the kiss on his cheek. His tail actually wiggled in her touch and he looked over her shoulder at her, not wanting to rest on his back in fear of the pain to his tail.

" That feels so weird but really nice"

Joliette Rigiel
"I know hte feeling" she admits with a soft chuckle tickling softly then pulling her hand away resting it atop the fur of his back... "David... I love you" she said softly and kissed his cheek as it was easier to reach

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs smiled at the kiss and hearing the words. He really needed to hear that now. He rolled all the way back around to face her. There he smiled again seeing her face.

" I love you Joliette.. all of you, new and old"

With that he kissed her lips.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette smiled and leaned into the kiss willing her tongue to behave as she returned the kiss filled with the love she felt for him. She was glad their changes hadn't effected their relationship

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs kissed fine, deepening it was tricky as his teeth were a bit in the way. Determined he still tried as he ran his hand down her arm softly.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette felt his touch and regardless the changes it felt comforting that they both had someone there for them, even if it was just each other... She contently returned the kiss and her clawed finger picked at the blanket

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs was lost in her touch, He reached up and flicked the light, leaving them to their world together, to find their new changes.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chubbs later held Joli in his arms, holding her close to him. Nestled under the blanket he felt the even the changes could not hold them back.

Photos on the Cliffs
(AIM RP Log)

Despite Awen's attempt to actually be around someone for the first time in two weeks she couldn't seem to find anyone. She grumbled a bit wondering how people could just disappear like that, they were on an island for crying out loud there were only so many places they could go to hide! So disheartened and still alone she ended up wandering over to the cliffs again. She didn't fight the urge to stay and listen to the waves and just set herself down on a nice familiar spot. She rubbed her temples softly knowing this place just gave her headaches sometimes.

She glared out at the water, for a few moments neither longing for nor fearing it. In the few seconds she looked out she cursed and hated the water that surrounded this place, trapping them all seperating them. This was the only real barrier of the island, it almost seemed as thought if the water wasn't there there would be nothing stopping them from leaving. She knew this wasn't true, but it was the only physical thing keeping everyone there. Soon her anger fled leaving her to feel like a lemming again.... she sighed heavily and just put her face in her hands. Feeling the aweful horn things on her forehead she dropped them immediately and just shook her head. Nothing seemed right.

*click click click click click* "That should make a nice photo" Joliette murmured to herself, she had not heard the sigh of awen her focus having been on the horizon with her huge telephoto lens on it's tripod . With a bit of difficulty she hit the button again having to turn her finger on it's side a little bit . Her auburn curls covered most of her face. she was wearing her black gi bottoms and a short sleeved to and standing in the sunniest place along the cliffs she had found

Awen had been so wrapped up in her own thoughts that she hadn't noticed Joliette at first along the cliffs. Awen glanced to the girl and all too quickly saw the scales on her arms and her slightly mutated hand. Frowning slightly at the thought of someone else changing she wondered who else did in the two weeks she had kept herself secluded. Maybe Chubbs had as well....? Or....Awen gluped a little bit Jamal..?

She stood up and brushed her pants off, trying to brush away those thoughts from her mind. She managed a smile. "Hey Joli." She said in a friendly tone.

Joli lifted her head from the viewer of the camera and turned it, "Oh! hi Awen" she smiled weakly "Sorry I didn't hear you approach" her weak smile revealed the sharp set of teeth she now owned. She stood up and turned more towards Awen her eyes noticing the changes Awen had but trying not to linger

"Got you too huh?" She said as Joli noticed Awen's own changes. It was almost funny how either of them tried to ignore and not draw attention to it so much. Joli's glances had been quick as Awen's had, and even though the convorsation had jsut started it felt like an eternity of them staring at one another. This way, by confronting it directly, it would ease the tension later on. "You look kind of like Amaya..." She noted. "But really not a bad change all around..."

"Yeah it did, and David too" she sighed her yellowish tongue flicking uncontrolled from her mouth and she made a face, there was definitely game at this end of the isle. "Not so sure about not so bad... I am a vegan.. or was" she looked at the horizon for a moment then back and scratched her cheek as carefully as she could with the sharp claw

"Oh..." She said softly being reminded of the vegan thing. "Right..." Something puzzled her though she didn't quite know who..... "David?" She asked suddenly. "Who is that, I don't think I've met him..."

Joliette blushed lightly "Sorry I kinda got used to calling him that, Chubbs, that's who I referred to" she said to her blue-haired friend

"Oh....OH!" She nodded a bit. "Chubbs changed then too? Should be fuzzier now...prolly more of a teddy bear then..." She chuckled as the thought of the big guy dressed up in a bear suit popped into mind. Yeah like that was how he changed. She expression schooled itself and her tone sobered as she looked back to Joliette. "How are you two handling it...?"

"Oh he's fuzzier all right, he has a fuzzy little tail too, The change wasn't easy, David did some damage to the unit, was fixed later though oddly enough, , I know myself I'm trying to keep my food down and learn to deal with the changes" she looked at her hand "Changes I certainly didn't want, was trying to figure it out what I'm becoming... How about you?"

"Me?" She laughed a little bit and looked back out to the water. "I feel like a lemming..." She shook her head. "But I don't think lemmings have grey rubber for skin, gills and horns do they?" She sighed heavily and looked back to Joli. "I spent the passed two weeks since my change...well since my last encounter with Chubbs since my change anyway.... hiding in my duplex or out here. I don't know how I'm dealing with it and I'm confused about what I am...but... I don't know I think I'm getting used to it."

"I don't think they do.." Joli replied quietly "I guess we all have to deal with the change in the only ways we know how, whether it's to sort out what we are or be secluded, or just get on with it" Joliette sighed and sat down on a warm piece of rock on the cliff top "Ouch" she grumbled to herself and shifted her position

"Tail troubles...?" Awen guessed softly as she sat herself down by the poor scaled girl. She new the feeling of sitting on that particular uncomfortable stub well enough. She didn't understand the purpose for her own tail though, she could really move it, consciously or not, it never wagged or anything like that. She didn't know any animal with a tail as stupid and useless as her own seemed. It had given her enough trouble too, being so inflexible yet long.

Joliette nodded "Yeah that's a good name for it, tail troubles, little nub of a thing, still sore so that doesn't help either" she pulled her big feet closer to herself so her knees were against her chest and folded her arms atop them she looked at her friend letting the sun land on her back "Have you started looking at information sources to try and unconfuse yourself?" she asked once she was comfortable enough

Awen shrugged a bit. "I don't know where to start looking to be honest." She shook her head slowly. "With my luck I probably got a combined thing like Chubbs.... I mean what kind of creature has a stiff tail, gills, rubbery skin and horns?" She shook her head. "There just isn't one! Moreau's turning me into some kind of...mutant fish and that's all I really know." She let out a breath. "That's... all I really need to know."

"Tails, gills, horns and rubbery skin?" she quirked a brow, "Well Gills I'd say aquatic, and rubbery skin? I'd take a stab at the ocean, beyond that I'd have to say hit an encyclopedia... I left my encyclopedia running an intensive search to try and sort me out, I don't trust the feral staff to tell me the truth even if I asked" she flicked her tongue watching Awen

She shrugged a little bit. "It doesn't really matter. I was going to ask... the night before I transformed I was going to push the button and ask. The one thing I know of Moreau is he's never once lied to me, I don't see why he would lie to me now, once I'm already caught." She shruged. "But I've decided I just don't care to know. Whatever it is it's meant to be underwater... that's all that I need to know." She looked over to Joliette now and realised how bitter she must be sounding. She bit her lip and tried to change the subject. "So... I miss anything in the passed few weeks? Any good gossip compiled?"

"Uhm I don't really know, I have been spending a lot of time with David, we were together with this happened..." she lifted a hand and let it drop once more "I witnessed yet another argument in the cafeteria, I'm beginning to think the place is a fight room rather then a food room, and I know David is up to something that's a secret I don't know what though, he says it's a surprise"

Awen smirked a little bit at the mention of the surprise. "Yeah he has a book of plans for something... he wouldn't let me see when I asked him either." She frowned a little bit at the thought of the fight though. Things weren't going so good on the island after all. "Who was fighting this time...?" She just let the subject of Joli and Chubbs being together when they changed alone. She had always feared that would happen with her and Jamal too...but... thankfully it hadn't happened like that. She couldn't think of how painful that must have been.

"I haven't even seen the book so he's really keeping it secret" she chuckled and closed her eyes for a moment "As for the fight it was Ambrose and Jamal... again, the were in the last argument I saw too, but there was more there that time then just the pair" she sighs softly

Awen froze and suddenly stiffened. Ambrose had been inadvertenly pushing Jamal's buttons from day one. Another fight between them didn't boad well. Awen bit the inside of her cheek wondering if she wanted to know. But she would find out from Jamal she figured next time they talked..she might as well be prepared.... "What about...?"

"Changes or lack thereof, financial and racial backgrounds, something about a murder found it's way in there too..." she stared at the ground ahead of her "It was tried to be defused a few times... but those attempts failed"

Awen nodded slowly. "Those are...touchy subjects to Jamal..." Awen mumbled. "So other people know about..... This is not going to be ...." She shook her head and snapped out of her mumbling. She smiled to Joli. "It's just a tense situation, times like this will pass... It won't be perfect mind you but everyone will be getting along more or less eventually."

"I hope they do pass and we all do, we're stuck with each other here for the rest of our lives." Awen's mumbling had barely been heard by Joliette though she tried to make sure she did "Somehow I sensed the biggest issue was the changes or lack thereof"

"Maybe...." She wasn't so sure but she didn't want to get further into this. "Ah well..guys...will be testosterone driven idiots sometimes.." She smiled. "It'll pass though..... hey looking forward to the holiday?"

Joliette chuckled "Especially if they are stars, sports players or bodyguards I've found" she chuckles and opens her eyes to look at Awen "I have got to say no, not really... I'm used to spending it with mama, papa and gran and gramps but... besides spending some time in the darkroom hoping these changes don't stop me from developing some photos... and spending time with David I don't know what else I can look forward to here..."

Awen grinned a little bit. "You guys missed the Halloween party though, I'm sure they'd do another one for the holidays!" She nodded. She wasn't completely sure though... After what happened at the last party... But it was Christmas. Surely even Moreau wasn't Scrooge enough to deny the islanders a Christmas...or...other holiday... celebrations. "I just wish there were snow."

"There was a party? what happened at it?" Joliette looked curious about this statement forgetting about Christmas for the moment

Awen's smile widened. "Food, drink, dance, kareoke." She laughed a little remembering all of the people that sang, including two songs by yours truly she snickered. "Just a fun time all around with decorations and everything. I got to meet a lot of people there, it would be good for everyone to have another party."

Maybe there will even be presents this time?

"Wow, sounds like they went all out then. I guess we'll see if they'll do another, there's still so many people I've not met, maybe I'll meet more of them at a social gathering." she pondered this and then looked up at the clear sky "Yeah somehow I don't think we'll get snow, and if we do it'd be a miracle considering our longitude and latitude... In a way I'm kinda glad... the sun feels nice on the skin really"

"Yeah...maybe... I dunno how I'd fare in the cold anyway. Fish normally just freeze up when it gets too cold don't they? And Amaya too.... she would hate it." Awen sighed heavily. "I just...miss home. I was always someplace white and fluffy for Christmas..." She shrugged a little bit. "I didn't have family to depend on, but I always knew there was going to be snow."

Joliette looked over at Awen "Where are you from?" she asked curiously listening to her description of the snow

She smiled a little bit thinking of home. "Well originally southern ontario, but I eventually worked my way further north of ontario."

"Ontario that in..." Joliette paused to think of her geography she pointed in the air as if figuring something out "Canada?" she asked at last

Awen blinked slowly, the idea that someone hardly knew where Ontario was seemed a little strange to her. Not unherd of though... some people thought she meant the city of Ontario down in California somewhere whe nshe told them where she lived. Eventually Awen nodded. "Yup." Was all she could manage to say. When she thought about it though, apart from Canada and the US Awen didn't really know the provinces, or states, of other countries. Why would they know her home's?

Joliette smiles softly and nods "I've not been to Ontario, just some of the eastern states and Canadian islands, I've spent most of my life in Britain for the most part, to be honest.. the time I've spent on this isle, is the longest I've ever been away from home... " she sighed and looked at the clouds "I hope mama and papa are ok, and gran and gramps, they must be worried by now"

"Maybe they'll be searching for you?" She gave a hopeful smile to Joliette. "That's what I think. This many people disappearing? Someone's going to notice. When Chubbs doesn't come back after the "tournement" people will notice. When I never come home from "therapy" people will notice. Someone will come looking....someone will ifgure out the truth. And there is no way the governments of the world will stand for this crap..... we'll be free soon enough." She nodded definately.

"Or like me, people will hear rumors and go looking, that's how I got here, course the juiciest part of that rumor was the involvement of a star but that's besides the point." She nods

"Well right then. See! Someone will find us, we'll be able to go home. Sooner than you know it I bet." She grinned confidently and hadn't felt this good in days. Weeks. Heck, months!

Joliette just chuckled softly and smiled, her tongue flicked out and in as she did, she didn't have the heart to tell Awen the rumor not only brought her there, but made her one of the trapped persons being experimented on.

Joliette didn't have to say it but Awen had figured as much. She was aroun for the whole 'oh they're just actors' thing after all. But she figured soon someone would be wiser than a tabloid reporter looking for a scoop and tell the authorities about it all. They would come in force, she was sure, if one of their operatives go missing.

"Everything's gonna be fine Joli, believe you me. We're all going to be fine in the end." She didn't have the heart to tell Joli of her fear though... of how society would accept them once they did leave the island. She wondered what was worse really... not seeing their friends and family, or seeing their disgusted and horrified looks.

"We'll see as time goes on... in the mean time we take each day as it's given... A small part of me doesn't want to go back, I mean I want my family to know I'm safe and all, and I don't want to change into an animal, but I found love here, I learned to be more social here and there's the prospect of being turned into lab rats back there too while they try to figure out what was done to us and possibly even abuse that power..." Joliette looked out at the ocean, "be nice if there was a happy mid-point..."

She shook her head a little bit and sighed. "I know what you mean. But you and Ch-- David could always just move somewhere together. And I'm sure that all they could do back where ever are a fwe exrays a few blood tests. Maybe they can even find a way to reverse the effects." She always had to look on the bright side, didn't she? "I really doubt they'd be able to abuse the power over us. I mean, after all, we're stronger, faster, and more deadly than before. Er- in general... So hey how could they really make us do what they wanted if they tried to abuse it huh?" She left out the classic brain washing, drugging, computer chip implantation, threatening loved ones stuff you read in comics of course. She was really just making light of the subject now, not really trying to be overly serious. It was one of her points of light, she wouldn't let a little thing like reality bring her down.

"We did here, so we probably would out there too, just a question where..." she smiled feeling a lil more relaxed then she had been

"See?" She gave her a little nudge and smiled. She thought it was cute how those two hooked up actually...

Joliette chuckles and nods "Yeah, he's wonderful he really is, I wish meeting him was under different circumstances... but then at the same time on the mainland I never let myself be interested in guys... oh well, c'est la vie"

She nodded slowly. "Ya know we're more alike than just being short." She laughed a little bit. "Both short girls with bigger guys, both never let ourselves find a guy mainland...I mean gee coincedence much huh?"

Joliette chuckles "it's a small world, and it's kinda nice when you find someone who you can relate to" she nods as if to confirm her words

"Glad we agree then...." She stood up slowly, making sure to balance herself because didn't quite want to fall off the cliff. "But... I think I should get heading to my big guy now. He's probably upset and everything. And I....haven't seen him for two weeks."

Joliette looks up at Awen and nods "I hope you are able to help him calm.. it was nice talking with you"

"Thanks Joliette. I hope so too." She seemed a little worried but still let a smile slip through. "You take car, and tell David I said hi, alright?"

Joli nodded getting up slowly as she was still sore "I will, take care" she replied intending to return to her photography after Awen headed out

Mongoose on the Beach

Lauren Granger
Dealing with Colche earlier was very draining, and Lauren had to get away towards something more peaceful and serene. For some reason the only place she found that peace was the beach.

Perhaps it was just an echo of her childhood before her mother died and her father turned into a monster that she found there. She used to swim a lot, even being in the swim team. She also used to go to the beach with her mother often, collecting shells and just watching the waves come in.

A memory of sitting on the sandy shore next to her mother was etched into Lauren's mind, her mom looking so happy and content with her life, but hiding some sadness at the same time.

Lauren reached down to pick up a grey shell, throwing it into the ocean with all her strength as if she was trying to throw away the pain, "******** you all!" She said to no one.

Or at least, she thought no one was there.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette looked up, she'd been sitting on a large rock in teh sun a ways from where the new arrival stood. Well new arrival to the beach just then really, she didn't recognizes the voice, or the person, a flick of her tongue told her she didn't recognize the scent of them for sure. Joliette watched the figure for a moment, ignoring her pile of equipment next to the rock where she had put it after walking back from the cliffs, she was more intrigued by the person

"Are you all right?" she asked after a time she asked hearing the female exclamation

Lauren Granger
Lauren turned in surprise to hear someone, let alone someone she had never met before. She seemed to be changed, that was good, Lauren didn't want to have the talk about what was happening.

Her mood immediately changed as if nothing happened, she wiped a slight and small tear from her cheek, "Yeah, I'm good, just stepped on that damn shell." She was in her swimsuit and her black saroung, the one with the red skulls on it.

Lauren waved, "Hey, never seen you around here. I'm Lauren" She flip flopped what she called herself so often it was hard to keep track. Lauren wasn't sure if she was indeed Thorn anymore. Perhaps Lauren was the social part of the girl, only taking place when Lauren was being nice. Thorn was Lauren's attitude, that tough part of the girl that grew callous and hard when she ran away.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette nods and slides of the rock her feet landing heavily in the sand and she wandered closer "I'm Joliette, Theres a few I've yet to meet, I suppose you would be one of them. Nice to meet you Lauren" She hesitated slightly not sure whether to offer her hand or not, she still wasn't used to the fact her fingers now had long claws. When she stopped she did offer her hand to Lauren.

Lauren Granger
Lauren nodded, "Hey Joliette. Yeah, I've been here a long time and there are still a lot of islanders I havn't met yet" and a lot of islanders probably are avoiding to ever meet me Lauren added in her mind, extending an equally clawed hand out to shake Joliettes, with a firm grip of course.

"So you're a reptile of some sorts I take it... saweeeeet." She tried to be uppity about things, and tried to get this whole animal business out of the way, "Yellow Mongoose here, we eat reptiles but I havn't tried them yet. Just a few chocolate covered ants so far." Lauren put her arms behind her head and stretched out, her long lanky skinny form nearly towering over the short Joliette.

Joliette Rigiel
"Yeah... a reptile" Joliette sighed after letting go of the handshake "I'm not sure what kind as yet, just know the few little things" she looked out over hte ocean her yellow tongue flicked out and in and then she looked back to Lauren "I've been here a little over a month... I think, kinda lost track" She smiled weakly but didn't comment on the eatting of reptiles, it was very likely whatever she was becoming might eat mongeese too considering the mouthful of sharp teeth she now sported

Lauren Granger
Wow, she was here for over a month and Lauren never even heard of her, the island was getting kind of large or Lauren's bought of anti social behaviour did win for a period of time. "Well, Amaya is turning into a lizard as well, you can bask together." Lauren beemed back at her weak smile.

Lauren was getting a little nervous, she actually wanted to be friends with someone. . . again. It was probably the mongoose but hell it never happened and sometimes becoming friends with someone was a prime time to play the mind games she loved so much. "So uh, what do you do besides. . . lizard things." Lauren asked to Joliette.

Joliette Rigiel
"Yeah Amaya is a iguana I think she mentioned." she chuckled softly "As for 'lizardy' things I'm a photographic journalist, or was, now I just take and develop photos. And I practise my martial arts, I'm hoping to get another punch in on the git... Sabin who knows what the next change will bring. You?"

Lauren Granger
Lauren laughed, while she liked Sabin alright it would be awesome to see Joliette punch him. He always has that smug grin.

"Ah, so you're a photo journalist by day, a** kickin' ninja by night I see. And your next big mission is Sabin's jaw." Lauren nodded, "I'll keep your secret as long as you let me watch. That would be so awesome seeing you punch in that wicked grin of his." As if it was needed, Lauren motioned the punch with a big smile, laughing at her own jokes.

"well, I'm really just a run away, but I do like to draw some and hang out here at the beach. I also like the jungle, uh not much else though."

Joliette Rigiel
"If I could reach his jaw tht would be a good target, but I think I'd take another jab at his solar plexus, the last time it knocked the wind right out of him and hte cocky grin off his face too and I almost got a kick in. " she grinned at that "For someone small I have a pretty good punch, and the git learned that... right before I learned he can put us to sleep with 3 words. I'll let anyone watch if I get the chance to do it again. Though he probably wouldn't let me close enough if I ever did see him again" she nodded "All right, it was nice to meet you, watch out for more of those seashells"

Lauren Granger
Lauren laughed, "never had to worry about not reaching someone's jaw so didn't even think about it. Too bad though, I nearly forgot about that sleep thing." Lauren remembered her fight with the Dude and how the doctor put him to sleep, making the dude believe Lauren had knocked him out. He didn't put Lauren to sleep but warned her that he could. "Damnit, that does piss me off."

Lauren waved as Joliette started to run off, "Nice to meet you as well, yeah those sea shell huh? They can be real killers." She kind of laughed nervously at that. "Maybe next time you can show me some martial art moves, I do love to fight. We can... I think it's called spar... or something" Now that sounded like fun, although Lauren probably could take her even with no knowledge of martial arts, or at least that's what she believed. She waved goodbye as Joliette left, feeling in a bit of a better mood. Something that was starved in her mind was now satisfied, and Lauren knew it was the mongoose.

"Well you had it now are you happy, I was ******** nice." She muttered to herself, going off into the ocean for a late night swim.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette smiles and waves "Enjoy your swim lauren" she said watching her disappear into the waves before returning to her pile and scooping it all up puttin ghte heavy high powered telephotolense on her shoulder and heading for the village

Her pile was smaller as she went from unit to unit after having checked the list in the town hall to find out where all her friends were... Joliette looked through her pile of envelopes she went through them as carefully as possible having already poked holes in the corners of many of them by accident with her new claws.

She found the one she was looking for and slid it under the door of her new friend.

Rayanya was sitting on her bed, digging her fingers through her hair, trying to figure out what she was going to do, when she spotted an envelope slip under her door. Perhaps the doctor's voicemail had died? Perhaps this was going to help her prepare for Jul? Ray dashed as fast as she could to the door and flung it wide open, wide, manic-looking eyes staring into the hall.

Joliette was just about to stand up again to move to the next unit when the door opened she blinked. It startled her she hadn't been expecting it and the girls frantic looking made her stare not thinking of words just yet, their last meeting didn't go so well

"Dammit, yo--" Rayanya had started to yell, then found herself looking at the familiar face of Joliette. She had only met her once, but remembered the occasion quite well. However, Joliette was different now, had changed. Rayanya blinked a few times, mouth moving comically with no words coming out of it, before she caught her bearings. "OH! Joliette! I'm so sorry, so sorry! Things are so stressful right now... Jul, and Woten, and Bulder... And the Wild Hunt..." She was speaking terms that probably only meant anything to herself, and herself alone.

Joliette's tongue flicked out and back in before she stood gathering her own wits "Hello Ray" she said slowly, a bewildered look crossing her face with Ray started going on and on about hunts and... well she had no idea

Rayanya wrang her hands together and licked at her lips, looking frantically around outside. Dammit, damn that red-haired sadist... he did this on purpose, she just knew it. Finally, Ray's odd blue eyes locked back onto Joliette, and, in a hurried tone, she spoke again. "So sorry, come in, please come in for a minute." With those words, Rayanya backed away from the door to allow Joliette entrance to her duplex, should the other girl find it wise to enter the room of someone who was acting like a maniac.

Joliette nods and takes a few steps into the duplex looking around "Thanks" she looked back towards Ray "You seem worried about something" she mused aloud to her

Rayanya swept in after Joliette had entered, sending a glare towards the intercom box on her wall at Joliette's statement. "Very," she practically growled. "I needed stuff for the Jul ritual and I tried getting in touch with someone, and no one answered, and now I don't have the stuff to do the ritual, which is bad, very very bad..." Ray's voice was going up in pitch with each word of her horrid, panicked run-on sentence, and she had to take a deep breath after she was through to keep herself from panting.

"Ahh... I don't call anyone on those anymore, I don't trust the staff here at all..." she frowned "though I would think if you need them you might have better luck writing then calling, then you can say exacts and they can't claim to write them down wrong"

Ray took a claw-ringed hand and dug it through her hair, leaving a long scratch along her forehead. "I didn't get a single word back. I called, and I left a message, and said that it was urgent... and do you think he could have called me back? Of course not!"

Rayanya turned towards Joliette quite quickly. "Do you realize how important this holiday is to my religion? How much significance it has?" Ray was starting to pant again, and she had such a crazed look on her face that she appeared ready to start foaming at the mouth.

Joliette looked rather unnerved by Ray's franticness and yelling "Uhhh no I'm sorry, I'm afraid I don't have any idea" she said meekly and scratched her cheek with a claw her yellow forked tongue flicked out and in

"Bloody... stupid... guh..." Ray paced around the room twice, then spun towards Joliette once again. Her eyes widened; though she had been looking at Joliette for a while now, and had acknowledged it at least once, she still let out a squeal. "You've changed! Oh my gods! I'm so sorry, Joliette, for a while now I've been meaning to find you and apologize for not believing you!" Ray dashed over to the other girl, looking her over.

Joliette watched the taller woman pace for a time and startled when Ray spun to her... "Yeah.. a couple days ago" she said quietly her eyes watching her examine her. She glanced down at herself wearing her black gi bottoms and a white cotton t-shirt

Rayanya looked over Joliette once more before her attitude shifted entirely, the manic look from her eyes melting away. "Are you okay? Did it hurt? Do you want to talk?" Her speech was still frantic and quick, though.

"I'm ok yes, sore still but ok... It hurt very much" she admitted looking towards Ray again "David and I changed at the same time... He knows what he is becoming, I'm trying to figure my own out without going to the git for answers"

"I'm sorry, Joliette... Sorry I didn't believe you at first, and sorry that you have to go through this... that we all have to go through this. I seem to be... lucky. Its been a month now, in fact, over a month and I'm still... human. Perhaps the stuff they... shot in us to do this isn't registering with my body."

The name David didn't register with Ray, as she had not met the man yet. But she didn't think on it, as it was obvious that he had to be another tenant of the island. Rayanya heaved a sigh, then moved to wrap her arms around Joliette in a hug.

"I'm sorry we do too, none of us asked for this... it was over a month for me too..." she nearly took a step back when Ray moved to hug her but let her she was nervous around Ray just then due to her ranting and raving, but that ranting hadn't been about her so she gave it a chance that Ray wasn't going to freak on her

Rayanya wrapped the expansive fabric that covered her arms (and her arms) around Joliette for a brief moment, hugging tight and hopefully in a comforting manner before letting the girl go. She then stepped back and tried a smile, but she was worried: about her friends, herself, and everyone else on this damned island. Oh, what had she done to offend the gods into giving her this punishment?

Joliette smiled weakly "Thanks Ray, so much to get used to, I'm not sure how to get used to this, I have more difficulty with my camera now, I hate to think what hte future holds in that respect..."

Ray nodded her head. "I tried asking the doctor what I was going to become, and accidentally... blew up at him." Ray wrapped her arms around her own scrawny form now, clutching herself tight as she chewed on her lower lip. "He just told me that I was going to become the same animal type as another person on this island, but a different species..." She sighed. "I wish I hadn't lost my temper, I want to know what's going to happen to me. And I keep hoping that nothing happens at all."

"Which doctor did you reach who said that?" Joliette asked curiously

"The red-haired one who welcomed me here, Moreau I believe." Rayanya sighed again, running her fingers through her hair. "I really wish he'd just tell me. That man's evil, I swear upon it. You can see the sadism just glowing in his eyes." Not that it was necessarily a bad thing; Ray had always been attracted to sadists, she just never stated it out loud.

Joliette nods fidgeting slightly with the envelopes in her hand succeeding mainly in poking a couple more accidental holes "I've heard that, I have yet to meet him though so I couldn't tell you from personal experience"

Rayanya nodded. "Yeah." She seemed to be upset yet again, as her words were dying and she was becoming less social. "I hope we all get through this okay..."

"So far people have for the most part, but I guess we'll see what our future holds I suppose" her tongue flicked out of her mouth and in as she tried to ignore the mouthful of sharp teeth she had "Guess we all have a lot of life changes to get used to"

Rayanya nodded her head. "I wonder if we'll have to go fully animal, and if we'll lose the ability to speak, and do... human things." Ray's face was starting to look troubled.

"I don't know... I haven't the courage to ask... there's certain things people are unable to do now though... like Hargun and Ian" she sighed "I wonder when he's going to decide he has enough test subjects, there's already about 27 people here"

Rayanya shifted her eyes to the side, staring at her wall as she muttered in a spiteful voice. "Probably never... anyone cruel enough to do this has to be a mad scientist, and they don't stop til they die." Ray tapped a claw-ringed finger on her arm.

Joliette made a grimacing face "Probably... I think I wouldn't mind punching him like I did the git..." she grinned a moment revealing the teeth she tried to keep somewhat hidden "but I doubt i'd get even a little close enough" she sighs

"I'm sure he's well protected," Rayanya said with a nod. "I mean, he's had to have been pissing all these people off... and he is, essentially, equipping us with weapons. He has to have a way to protect himself, so we'd probably never get to him." Ray looked relatively unhappy.

"Three little words that's all it'd take ... Subject... our name... sleep..." she shuddered at the memory. "He doesn't even need weapons, they can make us sleep without any true effort... just three words"

Rayanya blinked. "What? How is that even possible?" She sighed, though, realizing the stupidity of that statement. "But then again, I'm sure that on an island where people are turning into animals, hell, anything's possible. Hell, for all I know this could be the one place where Christianity is real." The last was a low mutter, not said to offend anyone, but as Ray's own personal expression.

Joliette blinked not commenting and shaking the words from her mind spoke "I don't know how they do it... we're still trying to figure it out... but I know they can do it.. I've experienced it first hand"

Ray nodded. "Yeah..." She turned away, went over to the door and lifted the envelope that Joliette had slipped beneath it earlier, turning it over in her hands. "Holiday card?" She asked simply.

"No... I didn't make cards, it's just a little gift of sorts.. best thing I could think of given the lack of stores and all here" she said sounding rather downhearted about it all

Rayanya nodded. "Thanks... I'm afraid I didn't think of getting anyone anything, I was too wrapped up in the ritual that was supposed to have started on the 20th." Ray sighed, looking down at the envelope and feeling a bit guilty.

Joliette nodded "that's ok, I had no idea what I was going to do for a long while, I'm only just getting around to dropping them off now" she smiled

Rayanya returned the smile and carried the envelope over to her desk, setting it down on the top of the nearly-empty thing. Though she had spent most of her time here in her room, one could not really tell: she hadn't even messed it up, let alone bothered to try and redecorate it. "Thanks again, Joliette."

"You are welcome Ray" she nodded after ray put it on the desk "I hope you like it"

"I'm sure I will," Ray gave another smile, which, despite her makeup, didn't look as intimidating as it usually did. "I'd better let you get back to your deliveries, so you can get them all underneath people's doors in time."

Joliette looked down at her small pile "Thanks I do still have a few left to do"

Ray walked over to Joli and gave her a final hug. "Well, there is one thing to say about this... its definitely a new experience." She chuckled. "Catch you later, Joli. Take care."

Joliette smiled and nodded "yes I'm sure we will catch each other as time goes past.. Oh I'm staying with David... Chubbs in 25 now if you want to find me you are more likely to find me there then in 27" she told Ray on her way to the door

Ray nodded, and walked Joli to the door. "Sounds good. I don't really come out of my room a lot, but if I want to find you at least I know where to go now." Ray smiled and saw Joliette out with a final goodbye, then shut the door behind her. Retreating to her bed, Ray fell onto it, and nestled deep into the covers. Sigh.

Joliette unlocked the door to the darkroom and jeld her laptop close to herself. she walked in leaving it open, she wasn't working just then, she'd done enough work having made her deliveries. she walked to her armchair in teh corner and sat down pulling her legs up under her not sitting on her feet. she set her laptop in her lap and opened it. pulling it out of sleep mode she glanced at hte search... it was done, but she was nervous to read through it, instead she entered teh journal program and typed in her password...

Journal Entry
Well journal the search is complete, question now is do I have the courage to look through the results... Tomorrow is Christmas... but... Oh I miss mama and papa and granma and granpa... By now we'd be sitting around the dinner time eatting the haliday meal... gran and granpa serving, papa lighting the candles and mama bringing out the biggest dishes, it was the only meal they hadn't made meat for in a long while...

Then gran and grampa would stay in Britain for a few extra days, shaying for another family event... Oh journal it will never be the same again... I wont have those around me through that week that I usually would... Well I suppose I should get my courage up and look through the results...

au revoir for now

And with that she closed the journal program out...

Joliette closed her eyes to compose herself and get up her courage.. After a few minutes she opened her eyes and maximized her encyclopedia search results... She stared at the results, and noticed each and every result had one thing in common. She clicked on the first one and let it open, her eyes skimming the results. She shook her head "No, god no..." she put the laptop on the desk next to her and sat to digest the info

Joliette stared off at the hanging photographs she had not used in her christmas presents that hung from the wire stretched across the area across the room, she didn't feel like getting up, she didn't feel like doing anything, she didn't like the results of her search and was having a hard time accepting them, and thus had yet to sleep. It was not the only thing weighing on her mind which also didn't help matters. Her laptop's monitor had long since gone into screen-saver mode

Come morning Joliette had dozed off in the same chair she'd still not come to accept what hte results of her search had revealed and didn't feel like leaving the darkroom. The door still was open spilling morning sunshine into the darkroom, well at least in a direct line of the door stopping just short of the chair the rest of the room in a red-lit darkness. She usually would love christmas, be one of the first up and near the tree... on the mainland at least

When Joli finally woke she decided to go get changed, she'd yet to take all her stuff over to Davids as he'd only just asked her to live with him. She trudges out of the darkroom leavng it open intending to return and heads down the stairs

Left on Joliette's doorstep is a small cardboard box.

There is a note attached to the top:

Quote:

Joliette,

Keep it real this holiday season. I've never known a chick that didn't like chocolate.

Merry Christmas,
~Vasile

And inside the box is a colored tinfoil-wrapped chocolate santa.

However, instead of being hollow or solid chocolate, instead it carefully has been filled (and resealed so as to prevent leakage and signs of tampering) with blood. Technically sheep's blood - not that she knows that ^_~.

Hargun made her way out of her duplex quickly, irritated with herself for not doing this sooner. In one of her arms was a few pieces of paper with scribbly writing, and several, tiny little clay figures, each wrapped in a makeshift red ribbon for a tag. Each also had a label to whom it was for. Most of them were hearts, but a few were animal shapes.

She pulled out one shaped like a little camera .

Then she placed it down near the door, on top of a letter that read (In terrible handwritting):

Quote:
Dear Joliette,

Im sorry you got stuck on this place.. and Im sorry about your recent changes. It must be really hard considering the time of year it is. (I was so dumb I forgot about today.) But I want you to know, We're all here for you and that we want you to have the merriest of holidays!

Love, Hargun

In your room you find a package, it is a rather small one.

When you open it you find an Ipod sitting on top, and beneith it some magazines.

They appear to be the magazine you used to write for, and the top one has an article about you going missing.

It also mentions having no leads they have given up the search.

It will still be sometime before you are declaired legally dead though.

You can however see your replacement's pictures and articles in there.

Joliette's eyes catch the items on her doorstep and she stoops to gether them up before going inside. she reads the notes attached and smiles weakly. She puts them on the desk "Thanks guys" she says quietly. She isn't in the mood for chocolate right then so figures on leaving it for later, she heads for the dresser and sees a 3rd package, she eyed it warily, it was INSIDE the unit which could only mean it was from a staff member... she walked slowly up to is and looked at it without touching "Moreau... interesting" she muses, her tongue flicking out and in as she pokes at the side of hte bulge of hte wrapping with a claw and then pulled her claw across the wrapping and blinked "And ipod.. and" she pulled it further open pushing the ipod aside, it wasn't a big deal to get one, she already had one.. but...

"Oh my god...." her hand trembled seeing the publications of her most recent publisher... her eyes landing soley on the words on the front cover World Weekly News Journalist Still Missing her photo on the cover and then in smaller text under the title article see page 3

She couldn't do it in this atmosphere, forgetting about all the rest of the presents as well as the reason she had come to her duplex to begin with she scooped up the small stack of magazines and hurried back up to the darkroom

Joliette walked into the ddarkroom as quick as she could discarding the wrapping paper on her way not carring jsut then where it landed, she sat in the armchair looking through the magazines for the first and oldest date... October 27th

World Weekly News Expose coming Joliette flipped through the magazine not really caring if she made any holes in pages as she skimmed to page 8.

...World Weekly News photographic journalist Joliette Rigiel promises the magazine an exposee to top all exposees, she travels south by boat certain that the stories of the missing Actor Vasile DiRossi are false and the actor is truly alive.
...Joliette is due to leave as this article is published and we should have for you said article in our pages within just a few weeks.

Joliette's hands shook as she read, her tongue flicking out and in, she wished right then and there she hadn't left on the trip, they knew the general direction she was headed but she had never been smart enough to tell them EXACTLY what direction she went. She dropped the magazine to the floor open still to the page that made the world aware of her upcoming article and moved to the next issue dated 2 weeks later just after her last contact with them... November 10th... Ironically the exact date Joliette located the isle she was now stuck upon.

...Weekly World News photographic journalist Joliette Rigiel has checked in with us via email, she promises she has found something worthy of our readers wait! We appologize for the delay and tell you to keep your eyes open!

Joliette shook more... she KNEW that was a lie she had told it under threat of hiring someone else in her place. She hadn't known that 2 days later she really would find something, something that would blow the world away. That article too joined the first on the floor open to it and she flipped through the next one and saw an article by a new journalist it was dated 3 weeks later, 1 week after her yacht had been due to be returned... December 2nd

...Weekly World News photographic journalist Joliette Rigiel has failed to check in and her rental boat has not been returned. At this time her parents have reported her missing to the authorities and interpol has begun a search for the missing journalist. World Weekly News asks if anyone has seen the journalist to please contact our offices or the interpol offices local to your area

The magazines were beginning to make her tear up. "Mama.. Papa.. I'm so sorry" she said quietly after reading the small article, the magazine joined the first ones on the floor as she opened the next one it too 2 weeks later, December 16th, the article this time had made it onto page 2 RIGHT after the table of contents, and it featured a large color photograph. A majority of the article was a biography of her life. But the last couple of paragraphs spoke more about her disappearance...

...Two weeks have passed since the reported disappearance of young woman and the search has now been joined by Feral Labs whose extensive worldwide company has many outlets. Founded by the charitable Doctor Nicolas Moreau P.H.D.. Feral Labs has many resources they are donating to the Rigiel family in their time of need.

...World Weekly News recently had a exclusive interview with Joliette's parents, Tolianna and Raymond Rigiel along with Raymond's parents Olie and Duniel Rigiel who joined their children in this time of need. Mrs. Rigiel was quoted to say 'Joliette was never one I would expect to run away, I do believe with all my heart something happened to her, but if I'm wrong Joliette I plead with you to call or come home'

...The search continues and if you have any news about the missing journalist we ask you contact one of our offices, Interpol or Feral Labs who is helping the Interpol with their search.

Dropping the magazine with the others was all Joliette could do, her whole body was shaking. "Gran and Gramps are there with mama and papa" she whispered as the magazine landed on the floor, it too open to the page she had been reading. The final magazine was dated just 2 days previous, December 23rd. It was the magazine she had first seen when she was in her duplex.

...World Weekly News Journalist Still Missing

...After an extensive search the search for missing Photographic Journalist Joliette Rigiel has been called off. It is with the combined efforts of Feral Labs and Interpol that an large area of the ocean has been combed. While authorities are no longer on the hunt for the journalist, the woman's family has informed World Weekly News that they will never give up searching for her

...Joliette's whereabouts will remain a mystery and at this time her file will be put with the Interpol's cold case files as she is not legally considered dead for a few more years and hope remains she will return.

The Magazine slipped from her hands and she broke down crying and just letting it all out. All remaining hope that her disappearance would have brought rescuers to save them was gone... Completely gone...

***

Joliette cried for a long time before sniffling and gathering the magazines and her laptop and leaving the darkroom to go to the duplex she was sharing with David now

Chubbs wake with a biiiiiiiiig yawn and rubbed his face sleepily. He slowly crawled out of bed, noticing Joliette was not in bed. He figured she went to go get changed and he shuffled to the bathroom. Chubbs washed at his face, rubbing his sleepy eyes. Taking up his toothbrush he poured some toothpaste and began brushing his teeth. Looking up at the mirror he spluttered, spraying toothpaste all over the mirror. Chubbs quickly wiped it down with a cloth and starred blankly at the new face. He looked at the new beard and ran his hand through it. It was there alright. Chubbs gave it a tug and felt like he was going to pull his face off. He stepped out of the bathroom, and that's when he finally noticed it, the suit. Chubbs frowned and shook he head and tugged at his beard some more.

" Damn a*****e"

Chubbs folded his arms and sighed, he usually played Santa anyway, they must have listened in. Chubbs looked beside the suit and saw the massive gift sitting beside it. Reaching over to it, he was almost afraid to open it, but he did. Tearing it open with claws, his mouth gaped open when he saw what was inside. Chubbs looked his gift over with a smirk. He was pretty impressed, it was a nice gift, even from a jerk. He then remembered he hadn't opened his gift from Ambrose or Joliette yet. Pushing the large box and suit aside, Chubbs picked up Ambrose's gift and carefully unwrapped it. Slowly peeling it open, he blinked and then grinned at what he saw. He made him chuckle loudly and he admired the ashtray. Chubbs reminded himself to give him a big hug later. He placed the gift beside his teddy bear, which he poked on the nose with a smile, and placed Hargun's heart present in the bear's lap. It came down to the envelope that Joliette got him, sitting on the dresser. Chubbs took it in his hands and sat down on the bed.

Joliette had left the darkroom holding the pile of magazine and her laptop, the magazines were inside each other as if marking the pages and the laptop inside the inner-most magazine. she nearly stumbled on the stairs but managed to catch her balance and walked over to #25 and opened the door to enter, she didn't feel compelled to knock anymore since he asked her to live with him, her face showed obvious signs of crying and not just the moisture on her cheeks

Chubbs was about to open the envelope when the door opened. He smiled widely seeing Joliette enter into the building, but the smile soon disappeared as he noticed her eyes. She was upset, it was obvious, and he put the letter down and went towards her. Chubbs wanted to rid of her tears. He reached out to pull her into him.

" Tell me.. what's wrong?"

Joliette lost it again burying her face into his chest holding the items she carried tightly between them, she just cried for a long time before pulling her face a little away and motioned what she was carrying

Chubbs tried to keep his newly attached beard out of the way. He was annoyed to have it there and then. He held her for a while and brushed the tears from her face, trying to keep his claws out of the way. Chubbs looked down at the magazines and back to Joliette. He took them in his own hands and started going through them. He carefully began to read the parts concerning her, specially the ones with her parents in them. They sounded like nice people, specially because they loved her so much as to care that much. Chubbs looked at the magazines, realizing where they came from now, and threw the whole lot at his gift from Moreau.

" I'll kill him"

Chubbs grabbed Joliette again, hugging her to him, wanting her to be safe in his arms.

"Tha-that's not all" she whispered still holding the laptop as he pulled her to him "I .. I know what..." she couldn't finish the sentence mainly due to not accepting it, and she considered it the worse thing to ever happen

Chubbs couldn't handle all this, Why were they blatantly out for Joliette? wasn't the transformation enough? Chubbs dared to look at the screen, wondering if he could take any more bad news.

Joliette opened the laptop bringing it out of sleep mode and handed it to him, it was still open to the encyclopedia's results and one of the pages she'd opened from it

Chubbs peered down at the screen, his eyes searching it over. It was information about the Komodo Dragon, Chubbs recognized it, a big lizard, actually he thought the biggest. He pondered how she would be upset about it, then it hit him. They had been searching to find her animal, the one she would change into. There it was, a Komodo, a great big lizard.

" Oh hunny"

He put the laptop down and held her tightly to him. How could this have all happened?

Her arms now empty she clung to him letting her tears fall once more, though she felt safe in his arms all her hope to get away from the island was gone and she just didn't know how to cope.

Chubbs had been somewhat settling into the fact he couldn't get off the island, But with the fact Joliette's parents were desperate to see her again, and she was being tortured on this place, Chubbs re-ignited the need for escape, but it wasn't for him. He ran his fingers through her hair, wondering to himself if she will lose the soft hair one day. He kissed the top of her head softly and whispered with wet eyes.

" He won't stop me loving you"

Joliette nods into his chest she hadn't even noticed that a few of her claws had poked their way through his shirt "Love you David" she whispered between sniffles

" Love you too"

Chubbs didn't know what to do, he was in pain when he saw Joliette upset. He needed something to take her mind off of the situation. Chubbs petted her hair and lifted her chin up so he could see her. His face smiled gently to her and he dried at her tears.

" Want to see me unwrap my gift you gave me?"

Joliette looked up at him her eyes searching his for a moment then she nodded "Okay" she whispered and let go of his shirt.

Chubbs took her hand, he wished the damn beard was gone so he could kiss her properly. He lead her to the bed and sat her down beside him. Giving her a quick hug, Chubbs took up the envelope once more and smiled to her as he picked at the seal carefully.

Joliette eyed the white beard with slight confusion before just leaning against him to watch

Chubbs Opened it and then pulled out the photo slowly with two clawed fingers. He actually gasped when he looked at the picture, it was really stunning. he really loved it. He sat there admiring it and finally found the note enclosed. HE smiled as he read it and turned to Joliette. He tried his best to move the hair out of the way and leaned in to give her a big kiss.

" You are welcome.. and I love it"

Joliette smiled weakly it was the best she was going to give under the circumstances "I'm glad you do... it was the best one out of all the ones I developed I think... it was taken here on the island" she returned his kiss, she knew he truly cared for her and that helped

Chubbs kissed both her eyes and her lips once more. He loved the picture and her. He rested the photo against the Teddy on his dresser, standing up and took the suit on coat hanger. Chubbs began to put it on as he watched Joliette.

" Seems the asses want me to be Santa for the day. I don't mind, except the beards stuck on. Well would you come with me near the beach?.. I'd like to give you your gift... and I think it may cheer you up a little?"

Chubbs started putting on the big Santa belt and boots.

Joliette nodded "Yeah I'll come with you, it's better then being alone... did that enough last night" she replied quietly as he finished getting ready , she didn't care much about her wrinkly clothes just then or a whole lot of other things

Chubbs put his hat on, and smiled to her.

" Ho ho ho "

He chuckled and blushed reaching over to take her hand and then made sure he had the key for the lock. He lead Joliette towards the door.

Joliette walked close and followed him out of the unit, his outfit was something of mild amusement... she was certain she'd look back at the day's attire at some point and laugh... just not right then

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs in his Santa suit lead Joliette up along the sandy edge of the beach to the fenced and tarped over area. He smiled in anticipation in seeing her reaction. He stopped her a good section away from the fences and smiled to her.

" This is it... I have to unwrap it for you... mind shutting your eyes?"

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette looked at hte massive fenced off area, she hadn't even known it was there... what on earth had he been up to?... After a moment of shock she nods and looks towards the sand closing her eyes at the same time

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs nodded and smiled, as he started undoing the fastening s holding the fence and tarp together.

" This will take a little bit, keep em shut still. You'll hear a noise or three, don't worry about it till I say so hun."

Chubbs disassembled the fences chucking them into a pile.

Joliette Rigiel
"Okay" she replied quietly sill facing hte sand with her eyes closed, she wrapped her arms around her torso some ofhte sounds o fhte fencing seemed a tad dulled but she ignored that and just waited

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs took down the fences and tarp, then uncovered the large sign. Stepping into a small hut, heflicked some switched and lights flickered all over the area. Small moters turned asn whirred as the present came to life.

Chubbs revealed the project Jamal, Ambrose and himself had made over the last few weeks. It was a miniature golf course, a putt putt park. There was a big sign out on the front with the words " The Three Kings Presents: The 9 Wonders" , Above were painted cutouts of the three that built it. There was a small shack near the entrance and beyond?, Nine minature golf ranges, all based around nine wonders of the world. The Pyramids, Sphinx, Empire State Building, Taj Mahal, Eifel Tower, Leaning Tower of Piza, Roman Colloseum, Great Wall of China and Great Barrier Reef. All were buld in a smaller scale and made as obsitcles in the path to the hole. Chubbs sat out the front and smiled. There by the front was a sign that said: " To the community, please enjoy this gift from us these holidays. We hope this brings some enjoyment to your lives, how ever little." Below it was signed, or in Jamals case, tagged by Jamal, Chubbs and Ambrose.
The Gift

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette heard the tearing down of fencing stop but didn't hear the motors that were turned on it was too low a tone and even if she didn't know it her hearing was beginning to change too. She waited for David to tell her to look, she grew curious despite her day's problems. She wondered what it was but knew it couldnt be a downer on everything else that happened or would happen in the next week...

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs held out his arms and grinned

" Open your eyes"

Chubbs couldn't help but smile at the situations.

" You said you'd reget not seeing he wonders of the world, so... I brought them to you."

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette lifted her head and opened her eyes at his words and blinked... The three of them had made this? wow... she took a couple steps forward and looked at it closer, her tongue flicked out and in "Wow" she said quietly "You guys have really been busy" she mused her eyes landing on the eifel tower and staying there

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs nodded his head happily,

" Mmmhmm, we made it all. The island hooked up the electricity but that's about it, oh and gave supplies. I think we did well."

Chubbs grinned and went under the arch and motioned for her to follow.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette followed after him as he indicated her eyes watching the tower for a few more moments before looking towards him "Very nice job"

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs walked her around the courses, showing her some of the moving parts, like the tower of Pisa that tilts right down and back up, trying to block the path.

" So what do ya think?"

Joliette Rigiel
"It's wonderful David" she says after having finished the tour, she stopped near the eifel tower and put one clawed hand on it's surface looking at it, the guys had done a good job at creating it, she bit her lip slightly trying not to pierce the skin

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs wrapped his arm about Joliette and rubbed her shoulder softly, looking to the tower as she was. He smiled and kissed the top of her head.

" I'll get you home one day hun, untill then, this can be the world outside"

Joliette Rigiel
"One could see the tower from gran and gramp's house... It was beautiful on new years, We always spent christmas in Britain, but we'd travel to France a couple days after.. to celebrate something else in the house I lived in when I was first born" She told him, "It's not going to be the same this year... "

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs sighed and looked down at the tower, something wasn't right about it that he noticed. With a hefty boot he kicked the tower and the little lights on it flickered to life. He nodded at that and held Joliette close.

" You'll see it again"

Joliette Rigiel
"I don't know.. maybe I guess" she had lost hope in the idea of being rescued from the wretched island "This has been a bad week, it started off so wonderful... then... first the change, then christmas, then the search results, then the magazines.. next...." she sighed not finishing her sentence. She closed her eyes and turned burying her face into his side

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs sighed deeply and hugged her with both arms. resting his head on top of hers. Joliette was the one thing stopping him from ripping the beard from his skin, ripping out a pipe and demolishing the labs. He hated the feeling, violent tendencies washed over his brain, but it was Joliette that kept him at bay. Chubbs held her close, wishing he could do something to make her day feel better. It seemed all he did was make her worse. Some damn gift he got her.. a boat load of memories.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette looked up at him and gave him a soft smile "Thankyou David, you do so much to try me feel good, I really do appreciate it... With everything thats happened here and to me you've always been there to make me feel better about things. And this is no exception... Perhaps after my birthday things will even out for a while" she reached a hand up resting it on his bearded cheek

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs ran a hand over the top of her head, trying to smile as best he could. He couldn't feel her hand right through the beard, and tried to tug at it agina, to see if it would come off. No good though, it was firmly stuck on. Chubbs looked at Joliette and pondered about something she said.

"So when is ya birthday?"

Joliette Rigiel
"In four days on the 29th. It's what we went to celebrate in France, thats where I was born" she eyed the wretched beard that was under her hand and tried to find a better place to rest her hand so that she could touch his skin

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs blinked and looked at her in a stare.

" The 29th? really?.... awww bugger... I need more time"

Chubbs looked at Joli and smiled some, holding her still. He didn't know her birthday was coming up, he had to do something about it.

Joliette Rigiel
"Yeah, thats why it's been such a bad week. and probably wont get much better, it's just one of those things I guess... I'll survive" she rested her head against him again feeling a bit better in his arms

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs getnly stroked her back, hoping that the gentle gesture would help her relax some. It was all he could do, he hated feeling so helpless. He didn't know what he could do to make her feel better

Joliette Rigiel
"Thankyou David... I love you" she whispers softly, resting against him feeling his gentle touch she was reminded once more what she loved so much about him

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs sighed and gave Joliette a warm hug. HE couldn't fix everything, but he stil wished he could.

" Santa loves you too"

He smirked a bit at his joke then looked down at her and brushed her hair back to see her face.

" Come on, .. I don't want to be santa any more, Let's head home so I can shave this thing off"

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette chuckles softly "Dear Santa... I've been a good girl this year... a little nosey at times yes... but a good girl..." she says as he brushes the hair from her face. He stomach grumbled at her having not eatten since lunch the day before "I think I need something to eat, can I meet you at home? I promise I wont be long..."

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs grinned and nodded, leaning down and kissing her lips softly.

" Oh I know Joliette, you've been oh so good... I just might have to fill your stocking when you get back"

Chubbs snickered and ran for it, afraid he maybe hit

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette chuckles and shakes her head looking up at the tower one more time before leaving hte golf course... She'd get him later... at home

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette was cheered a little by what David had shown her, though that Eifel tower greatly reminded her of the one she could see from her gran and gramps house... the house she'd lived in till she was 2 and often visited afterwords. With a sigh she trudged into the cafeteria, her yellow tongue flicked and brought to her the smells of the meats across the room which made her cringe. Though the beast inside her desired them they still really bothered her. She looked up as the scents brought back to her were also that of people... Chana, Greer and someone she didn't know.. Oh joy, she hadn't seen Chana since the girls' first day there... She shifted directions not wanting to go near the foods just then and headed for their table her toe-claws clicking on the linolium as her heavy feet landed on the floor. She'd not had a good day and she knew it wouldn't be any better of a week and her face showed the remaining signs of having cried earlier that morning

Chana Cohen
"Priest? You mean Father Young? He didn't seem so bad..." though we never got around to my being Jewish she finished to herself. She grew pale as Greer summarized the introductory speech. What on earth...?

"Diabetes, ah...that makes more sense. My cousin has it," she replied absently as Joliette walked in. The French woman had...changed. There was no other word for it.

"Erm...hi Joliette," she said. Suddenly that last half a lotke didn't look so appetizing.

Greer Cassenwari
One look at Chana said she was handling this badly. Damn it! Until her last change she'd been so much better at the being gentle and nice thing... probably because without the hawk in her she actually was. Bah. Humbug.

"I'm going to guess you haven't had it then - I'm sorry, I'm being so callous. Do you know why we're all really here?" Smiling at the curly-haired girl, she glanced back and saw the photographer. Oh hey! "Joliette! Thanks for the photo - it's beautiful work."

Kim Nguyet
It didn't take a scientific diploma to figure out... Just by the way the other girl almost seemed to go white.

Uh... well.... oh.

"Chana ? Are you allright.... ?" It was evident that the newcomer had been cried... But she decided to not ask about it and wait if the matter would come up, giving her a wave. "Hello... I don't think we met, im Kim."

Joliette Rigiel
"Hello Chana" Joliette said in her thick British accent as she reached the table "Uhm Merry christmas.. to all of you" her voice sounded almost as if she was forcing the holiday cheer into it "I'm glad you liked it Greer, it was the only think of giving the people I'd met here, so far I wanted to give something..." and then she looked at the vietmanese female "Hi... I'm Joliette, you are right I believe we have not met... You... You guys mind if I join you?" she asked quietly

Chana Cohen
"Um...yeah. I haven't had it," she answered Greer's question shakily and started piling her flatware on her plate.

"I'm fine, Kim...and thanks, Joliette, for the picture. It's lovely." She gathered up her dishes and stood.

"I...ah...think I'll be going. It's been nice meeting you two, and it was good to...see you again, Joliette." Chana left her utensils and dishes in the appropriate place and fled the cafeteria. Little bits of conversations were coming together in a way she didn't want to believe...for believing them would mean doubting G-d.

Greer Cassenwari
Growling at herself, Greer swallowed the last of her food and bussed her tray. Idiot! What was her goddamned problem-

"Excuse me, I'm going to track Chana down and apologize - have a good meal you two." Giving a quick nod to Kim and Joli, the entomologist left the cafeteria, searching for the girl in vain.

Kim Nguyet
Blink.... Blink...

Blink.

Well, that went.... well ? Oh, boy.

"Erm..." She shook her shock and confusion away, managing to give Joliette a smile, in dispice it all.

"I don't mind... have a seat."

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette sighed at hte sudden departure of hte two people she knew but figured it was jsut another addition to her day... oh well. She had a seat, her yellow forked tongue flicking as she did "Soo... uhm how long have you been here?"

Kim Nguyet
"Hm... over a month. Add or take a few weeks. I've been... a bit out of it lately, I guess, at least with time..."

Checking the calendar wasn't the girl's first priority when she was busy puking her gut out.

She sighed a bit to herself, a look of worry for the two on her face, as she took a sip of juice.

Joliette Rigiel
"Means you must have gotten here around the same time I did" Joliete mused quietly and shifted her position "Stupide tail nub" she grumbled hating hard seats. She glanced towards the door and back "Some Christmas this is no..." she said to Kim

Kim Nguyet
"Yeah..." She trailed a bit. "...It's all very wierd... almost alien, in my mind. To think about mom... all alone at home..." She sighed, and forced herself off that track of mind. Someone back there must have made up something to cover her dissapairance... it seemed logical.

Her mom didn't know, and probabely never would...

Joliette Rigiel
"My mum's not alone, she has papa , grans and gramps and interpol and all them woulda just left a few days ago too" Joliette didn't sound like she liked saying that, "I... I dont think we'll ever leave" she was completely downhearted and had lost her sense of hope

Kim Nguyet
"Yeah... I know." She sighed. "But even if we can't leave, ever... Even if we stay here for the rest of our lives, nothing keeps us from shaping our lives, don't it ? It's stupid... but im not letting them break me. Not that easely..." The small girl managed to slide a smile. "...I mean, I could mope about it... But then, what will it give me ? So I guess, I've been trying not to think about it... or what im going to become, on that matter."

The mere thought sent a shiver trough her spine.

Joliette Rigiel
"I have a tormentor, and my christmas gift included issues of World Weekly News, the magazine I worked for before winding up here, and they searched, and Feral Labs got involved, and now the hunt has been called off, plus I figured out what I'm becoming... Right now I dont have much to feel cheerful about besides David" She rests an elbow on the table and her hand on her chin leaning there, her long tongue flicked "Do you know what they are turning you into? Or just not thinking about it at all with no knowledge?"

Kim Nguyet
"Wow... that... seriously blows." She sighed a bit, unable, as always, to find the words that would make things better. "At least, you have him..." She didn't know who this David was, but he was obiviously very close to the other woman.

"I've got no clue, nothing at all... and im not sure if I want to know." Alot of the transformations seemed almost... ironic or downright mean. "Well, I have those dreams... But I have no idea if they're any related to it or not."

Joliette Rigiel
"It's greatly possible... mine have all been about eatting meat.. I'm a vegan, or rather I was before this... but... according to my research I'm becoming a varanus komodoensis, and their diet is 100% meat, completely carnivore" She frowned "And I know who chose it I'm pretty sure... even if I was not awake when they gave me the first injection... As for David, yes least I have him... I met him here... him and hte few friends I've made are the only good things I've experienced here"

Kim Nguyet
"Wow, that's just..." The words, however, choked in her troat. She muttered something in a foreign language, probabely vietnamese, and from the tone of it, it looked pretty damn colorful. "How can people be this mean... I still havn't figured that out." Even after the awsome gift she's gotten... her opinion on things still weren't too hot. "...I don't know what ill'd do if I was going to lose my hands and be unable to code and play games anymore..."

It would be the worst thing... ever.

Sighing a bit, she continued. "Mine mostly focus on... I dunno. It's kinda like flying... but not at the same time. I can't ever seen the ground, im just... drifting in a void, gliding in a void, until I find someone, something... and then I wake up." It was almost conforting to know she wasn't the only one to get dreams like this...

Joliette Rigiel
"I know Hargun is losing the use of her hands, Amaya's hands are getting bigger... Mine..." she lfts her other hand looking at it and it's rather sharp claws "Well mine got smaller, not as agile as they used to be, I hope I can still take photos... somehow... I doubt I'll be able to develope them forever.. guess we'll see.. I hope you don't lose yours, it's seriously no fun at all" she sighed looking at Kim again

Kim Nguyet
"Yeah, I know... Hargun is the one who told me..." She sighed. "...She didn't really want to, but I just... had to know the truth, you know... ? I don't know alot about photos, but I did a bit in high school... Ill develop them for you, if you want."

If there was a way to make the other girl smile... she would do it.

Joliette Rigiel
"I am for now, but I may have to take you up on that offer in the future, we'll see I suppose... thanks" she smiled weakly, a smile that didn't really last very long. "Amaya was the one who told me... I believed I was on a movie set getting an exclusive, least thats how they tricked me to come ashore and leave my yacht. I didn't even know I had gotten an injection..." she sighed

Kim Nguyet
"My mom made me come here to test out an experimental cure... It had that "too good to be true" feeling all over it, but I didn't imagine.... this, happening." She sighed a bit, shaking a few bangs off her face. "I wasn't even told anything... I only knew something was add around here when I met Colche and Hargun."

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette chuckled softly "Call me dense, Hargun was the first I met and I was sure she was an actress in costume, that they stayed in character all the time, I even had a script for it all... The script is in itty bitty tiny shredded pieces in a box that I sent to the git now... did that right after it all sunk in and I kinda had a screaming fit... How did you take the news?"

Kim Nguyet
"....I kinda reacted a bit oddly. I havn't ever reacted like I did then before..." She remembered, absentmidtely balancing a fork on her finger. "I didn't freak out on the go... I just took it all in... Went back to my duplex to see my neighboor had changed... but when I finally got back alone, I just kind of... broke down, cried, and failed all night. It was really strange..."

Joliette Rigiel
"I've seen some pretty bad reactions to the news, I've even seen pure disbelief... I took it as a grain of salt till it actually sunk in... I hate being lied to and thats what coming here is, one great big lie... thats all they do to get us... lies lies and more lies... They have camera's watching us, ways to put us to sleep with 3 words, obviously ways to come into the duplexes without being seen...." Joliette scratched a claw on the table's surface

Kim Nguyet
Kim paled a bit... just enough for Joli to notice.

"T-They can what ?" Cameras everywhere ? Being put to sleep ? She never heard anything about it...

After a moment... she just gave a nervous little laugh and shook her head. "I should have guessed, at least for the cameras... I bet they got a way to track our locations, now that I think about it... Man, this sounds like a very bad plot for a science-fiction rpg. But its real."

Joliette Rigiel
"Well I'm sure you noticed your christmas present wasn't on your doorstep like ones from friends would have been... As for the other thing... the 3 words I hope I never hear again... 'Subject Rigiel Sleep' ... Rigiel is my last name, so presumeably it's replaced with the name of whoever they want to sleep... It happened to me right after I managed to get a martial arts punch in on the git... right below his solar plexus... knocked the wind out of him and hte cocky grin from his face... And you are right... it does seem like a really bad science fiction thing..." she sighed

Kim Nguyet
"Yeah, I noticed that... I about tripped on it this morning, but by some miracle I didn't break it..."

She was getting a bit hungry... and she would have to get something to eat soon to keep her blood sugar stable.

"Want anything to eat ?"

Joliette Rigiel
"Eat? yeah I probably should get something to eat, I haven't eatting since like lunchtime yesterday" she admitted and looked towards the huge buffet that was set out

Kim Nguyet
"I think I saw some salad on passing earlier..." She remembered Joli mentionning something about not eating meat, so... She peered around, finally finding what she was looking for. "Ha, there it is !" She finally spotted it into the garnished table.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette got up, "have no choice on the meat thing, my body is craving and nearly demanding it... I try to hide it in my food though..." she wandered to the salad table and served a nice leafy salad then looked for some ham chunks like ambrose had done for her and sprinked some on making a face that truly said she didn't like the idea. and then returned to the salad area and started just simply drowning the salad in dressing

Kim Nguyet
Kim bit her lip lightly in sillence, visibely feeling a bit bad. No one should be forced to do something they didn't want to... damnit. None of this was right... but what could she do ?

Sighing a bit, she scooped some salad aside along with some turkey, asking for a diet pepsi... she could use the jolt right now anyway.

All this reminded her of something, and her eyebrows creased a bit in thought.

"You know, when I think about it..." She trailed a bit, taking the dressing once Joli was done with it. "...I don't like fish, at all, or most seafood. But lately it seemed to small pretty damn good." She wrinkled her nose a bit in a bit of disgust at the idea. "I wonder if that mean anything... Something that flies and eats fish... That's pretty damn broad, still."

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette looked up at her new friend "You know that is true. Least it gives some minor hints in the direction though, flying and fish, least you know it's probably not an owl, I think they like mice better" She headed for the table with her ranch drowned salad her tongue flicking, then sat and waited for Kim

Kim Nguyet
Eating mice ? ....Ohhh ewwwwww. Maybe the fish option wasn't that bad after all... She wrinkled her nose a bit tho, the only visible sign of her thought pattern.

"Yeah, you're right... Flying and fish... Maybe an eagle ?" Didn't eagles eat fish ? Hm...

Joliette Rigiel
"Eagle? well I guess that wouldn't be so bad, maybe if you can fly you can get away from here" she picked up her fork and speared the salad and took a bite.

Kim Nguyet
"I dunno... Don't think I could. I mean, Greer looks like some kind of bird... And Hargun is a bat. Im sure he thought about it... and even then, we're pretty far from any identified coast... We'lld probabely tire out before even reasing a shore." She sighed, glancing at her hands absentmindely, as if they could burst into something different any second now. "At any rates, I guess I will be losing my hands, if im some kind of bird..."

Joliette Rigiel
"Hard to say until you start to change, you could fluke out and not even change into anything related to your dream" now that would be a major fluke

Kim Nguyet
"Yeah... Beside im not sure if I wanna know to begin with." She sighed a bit, taking a sip of cola. "It's just all so... I dunno how to explain about it. It's one thing to see it into others, but when I think about it happening to myself, it's almost like if my brain completely knots up."

Joliette Rigiel
"Yeah I know what you mean, I know exactly what you mean" she sighed softly, "I hate what they are doing to us" it's not anything she would have wished onto her worst enemy, not even those who called her a paparazi...

Kim Nguyet
"It's a situation no one should be into... Not even the jocks that shoved me in lockers back in high school." She sighed a bit, idely turning her fork into her salad to mix the dressing in. "But I guess talking about it makes it a bit better... I know when I don't let out what I think in one way or another, ill't stay stuck in my head and about drive me crazy."

Joliette Rigiel
"Yes, bottling things up can be bad for you. I suppose the only way any of us will get any of that bottled emotions out is to talk, we are all in the same position, so at least we can know where each of us is coming from to some degree" she speared her salad again and munched on the tasteless mouthful

Kim Nguyet
"Yeah..." She nodded to accompbany the word, munching a bit on some turkey before talking again. "We all need to be there for each other, because if we arn't... then who will ?"

Joliette Rigiel
"Very very true, who will if not us." she worked on her salad till it was nearly gone "Thank goodness for salad dressing... though I suppose eventually it wont be able to overpower the meat the beast inside me will want"

Kim Nguyet
"Probably..." She sighed a bit. "It's not fair, tho... I mean, it's just..." The words lost themselves before they came out, and she decided to stop while she was ahead, taking a sip.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette finished and put her fork on the plate "Well Kim, it was nice to meet you, and to speak with you... I should get moving it's a touch cool in here... The listing may put me in #27 and #28, my darkroom, but I'm staying with David in #25 if you want to find me" she smiled weakly

Kim Nguyet
"Yeah..." She glanced idely at the psp for the time. "I should head home too... Im in duplex 22... If you need me, just come, allright ? Im in there alot, so..." She managed a smile on her face. "Im here if you need me, okay ?"

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette nodded and filed that information in her mind for later "Have a good rest of your christmas Kim" she said softly and stood dropping off her plate then with a small wave headed out

Kim Nguyet
She waved back, picking up her things and finishing with cleaning the table before leaving as well.
