Not sure if I responded on here to this post...

I had my cycle a month after my 13th birthday. And my mother's response was "there's only one b#$% in the house and thats me" I'm 20 now. So it feels like there's 2. razz

I've never used a tampon, and probably never will. xd

I got my period when I was on vacation with my family. I was 11 at the time. We were spending a couple of days in Hawaii on the way to Australia, and I got my period while we were down at the beach. My mom took me back to our hotel room and explained that I now had my period, and I couldn't go swimming while I had it. I think I locked myself into the bathroom and screamed and cried that I wanted to go swimming. We finally compromised and I went without the pad (for the day, since I was so upset about it), but didn't go back in the water once we went back to the beach.

Yeah, I was a difficult kid. sweatdrop On the plus side though, we spent 5.5 weeks in Australia, and after we got back, because of the travel and time zone changes, I didn't get my period for 3 months after that!

Aww! sad That sucks! I sometimes get my period on trips (Thanks, mother nature!), and I don't go swimming in pools when I'm on it. In the ocean, though? I just put on a dark swimsuit and go in there. I've never had a problem with stains, with people seeing me on my period, with sharks (lol, yes, my ten-year-old sister asked me this). I don't know. Nothing can keep me out of the ocean, haha.

Well, I got mine on New Years' Eve - one month after I turned ten years old. I spent the first few minutes of the new year in the bathroom, crying. xD

The only thing I hate about women when it comes to their period, is the majority think, "Hey, I feel like crap. I'm on my period, so that means I'm hurting. That means I can be rude to people and get away with it."

I hate that excuse. When I feel like crap minor or severe, I don't get up in someone's case. I keep quite and move and act only in a manner that'd make me feel better. Although I'm a guy, I've experienced extreme pain before, both physically and mentally that have far surpass what pain a period gives.

For example, nearly dying from an antibiotic that was suppose to help, but all it did was make it feel like the sun was burning my flesh. Having delusion of the mind, a hammer feeling pounding in the inside of my head, fatigue and nausea.

Know what I did? I laid in my room, staring at the roof and kept quite.

Unless you have actually experienced a period firsthand, it's not really possible to say what's better or worse with any certainty. It would be like trying to compare an apple to a fruit that you have never tasted. xp

Not to mention that period pain can vary from month to month and from woman to woman. Some women are actually bedridden for a week every month.

And that rudeness/moodiness that a lot of women get during their period is not usually caused by pain as much as it's caused by hormonal changes.

Yea, I'm aware of that. It's different for each female, but I just don't like when they play that card to people. Some ladies I know, they seemed to be on their period 100% of the time, cranky and socially unpopular to most in the manner department.

Ugh, here's my first period story:

So I'm eleven years old, and I'm sleeping. Always a great start, right? I'm sleeping, and I wake up that morning to a lovely and, um, decently sized blood spot on my bed. stressed Now, by this point I'd already been told what a period was and about what age range I would be in when I got it, so I knew what it had happened.

I just didn't quite know how to TELL my Mama. So after getting out of bed, freaking out a little over what to do about the bedsheets, changing into clean clothes - and stuffing a bunch of toilet paper in my panties, very a la diaper, I wad the bloody clothing into a ball and go to my Mama and shyly whisper that I got my period.

SHE THEN PROCEEDS TO HAPPILY TELL MY FATHER.

WHO THEN PROCEEDS TO TELL ME THAT I HAVE BECOME A WOMAN. gonk

The rest of the morning is spent hand-washing the clothing and the bedsheets with my Mama for optimum blood-removing power before putting it all in the washing machine, with both of my parents being rather... happy about my magical transition into womanhood. I'm not saying that they shouldn't have been happy. But nearly making a party out of it was verrrry embarrassing. sweatdrop

Okay here's my story: I was at my friends house (her name is Emily) the weekend. We were talking about periods and girly stuff. She had gotten herand I hadn't gotten mine. Well, the next week, on April 24, I was having some back pain and a stomach pains. So, we were doing our L.A. class, and I had to use the little girls room. (We were in groups and evey group was in a different room in the school! XD) So I when to the bathroom, dropped my pants, and there was blood all over my panties. Shocked, I let out a small screech! So I finished using the bathroom and ran back to our desiganted room, and called Emily outside. So I told her, and she hugged my and we went back inside smiling. It was pretty special. But, of course that was the week we had Sex Ed so she kept nudging me the whole time!

2 years later, I am no longer excited about that time of the month. I dread it, but I'm thinking of asking my mom to let me go on a birth control pill to treat my heavy period. Do you have any suggestions on pills that are any good? (For your information, I am not sexually active))

Birth control pills are a bit different for everyone. A pill that works great for one woman might give another woman really uncomfortable side effects. And some pills might not even be safe for all women to take. So it's something that you want to talk to your doctor about. Your doctor will look at your needs, your current health and any other issues (like weight or acne), your family's health, etc. And based on all that she will help you decide which pill will the best and safest fit for you.

All I remember was my mom was away for some reason. My dad tried to help. I was like, "Uh, no dad, I can take care of this myself." I never panicked or anything, I was expecting it.

I got my period for the first time in Secondary 2 (8th Grade). I was 13 years old, and was happy and sad I got it. Happy because I knew my body was normal. Sad because...well...I had to deal with that EVERY MONTH for the next 25+ YEARS. And I had a lot of painful cramps for the first few times...
