Justice blinked as the flamingo stopped, and there was an audible rumbling. "What's going on?" His tail flittered before a flood of paint swept him forward "EEEEEPPPP!!!!" The kit clung to the pink bird as they were washed to advance forward.

Rupel continued jogging along. She was moving reasonably fast for a short person, but she was by no means close to being in the front. But then again, she was not the last or even second-last person.
All in all, she thought she was starting off rather nicely.
She heard sounds and looked back to see a flood of paint a little way behind, and was glad she'd missed that. Now, if it had been melted icing, she might not be so worried, but paint... well, that would have just ruined her dress for sure.

Wondering where that flashflood of paint came from, Eri just shrugged and continued running.
At least she didn't see red paint.

Blue continued running, quite puzzled by the complete lack of booby traps as people around her fell victim to torrents of paint and such weirdness.
She was also puzzled as to why they were running to begin with, but assumed she could always ask someone when she caught up.

Justice tried to sqeaze every ounce of speed out of the flamingo. "Come on, Flamingo, we're falling behind! We need to beat them!" He cried out, mewling. So far they'd been going at a pace only a snail would fully appreciate. With that, the flamingo sped up to the best of it's ability, going into a full charge.

Rogi grimaced as he noticed the rest of the racers pulling ahead. He needed to make up for lost distance. While he continued walking he began to trace a series of runic symbols in mid air. A simple teleportation spell could get him closer to the pack, assuming his spell received no interference from the course.

Rupel kept jogging along, then suddenly realized that she was speeding forward faster, her feet still moving but not touching the ground.
Looking around slightly bewildered, she turned and realized that from nowhere, a set of rockets had attached themselves to her back and were propelling her forward! They ran out of fuel after a couple minutes, and once Rupel's feet were back on the ground she paused a moment to take the rockets off before starting to jog on her own once again.
She shrugged and grinned, not even trying to explain to herself how the rockets would have gotten there in the first place.

Areashine started running along the road. As she stepped down, she felt herself flying through the air. Though a trained dancer, she fell on her back and lost all the wind in her lungs. She laid there trying to catch her breath.
