Once more Lin couldn't help but blink in confusion, how was Rhea so sure that the butterflies wouldn't bother her until she came back?

"Come on," Donovan told Lin, "Might as well take advantage of that while you can."

Though he always figured that gift would be useful if she could keep all the butterflies away except for the ones that she could train like the foxes for example.

Lin nodded getting up onto her horse, still it was such a curious conversation.

"Right."

Whisper looked up at Rhea as the girl joined her once more and continued on through the woods. "You know you're going to regret that," she told her softly, rising to her paws and padding after her. "You still complain about the last time the butterflies followed you everywhere."

Rhea smiled down at Wish. "I channeled it out, don't worry," she murmured. "The ranch might be seeing a few more butterflies than usual, but at least Lin won't be bothered on the hunt."

Meanwhile, Celeborn was circling the group of hunters, checking over everyone to make sure they were ready; and when he arrived at Lin and Donovan, he stopped.

"Are you ready?" he asked them quietly, seriously, his usually bright eyes dark with apprehension.

Lin had checked... and double checked and the only thing left was actually being shove out of the proverbial nest. She nodded at Celeborn's quesiton, she was ready.

Well as ready as anyone could ever be.

"Ready," Donovan replied, "We can go now."

Celeborn nodded seriously and turned his horse to the west. With a nod to the others, he set off.

~~~~~
It was a while later when Rhea and Whisper finally made it back home, and as expected, Shael was waiting for her in the yard, her arms folded across her chest.
"Where were you?" she asked, raising one eyebrow as her daughter drew near. "You're late, Cindy's been waiting for you."
Rhea clutched her staff tighter. "Seeing the fighters off," she replied quietly. "Where is Cindy?" She felt bad about keeping her teacher waiting - yet again - but on the other hand, she thought, her mother should know better ... she always saw the fighters off on their hunts ...
Shael sighed. "In her room, I think. Now hurry on up."
Rhea nodded silently and slipped past her mother into the house.
Cindy actually didn't mind when Rhea went off to see off the fighters, but then again she had come to understand that Rhea was almost an adult around here. To not be able to help must be driving her student nuts (it would have driven Cindy nuts had her mother based her age on her physical appearance rather than how long she had been around).
She was reading, and wondering what the others were up to.
Well... she was sure she could hear Naida wheeing outside doing who knows what.
Rhea left Whisper downstairs and hurried up to Cindy's bedroom, not at all her usual cheerful self. She tried to hide it as she knocked on the door, though, and as she opened it and peered into the room, she did her very best to smile.
"I'm sorry I'm late," she apologized right away, seeing Cindy reading a book. "I wanted to talk to Lin before they all left."
Cindy looked up and smiled softly, "Well you've always gone to see the fighters off, I don't think this time would be any different and I'm guessing you picked up a few things from Lin?"
This was Lin's first time and it was knowing the sort of life Lin was living that sort of made Cindy wished her little sister was little. Sure Lin seemed to be made for the life here, but traveling, putting herself into dangers, well no big sister wanted that.
Rhea blushed and lowered her eyes. "I know I'm not supposed to mess with other peoples' magic," she murmured, "but I took away Lin's butterfly magic ... just for now. By the time she gets back I'm sure it will have returned. I just thought it might be more of a hindrance on the hunt ... since a butterfly gathering of any sort would attract attention."
Lin would be, in essence, a sitting duck.
Well... Rhea did have a good point, and even as an adult now Lin couldn't control it, though to be fair that could still change as Lin grew into her adult status. Cindy mused on this and wondered if there would ever be a way to make that stop.
"That's true," Cindy murmured, "And I'm sure the last thing she needs is to hear what other people are saying, especially if they are people she didn't mean to over hear."
Especially since Lin should be focused on the hunt instead.
"Don't worry," Cindy patted the seat beside her, "Though yes sometimes you do still get lectured, I do trust you to think about what you use your magic for and you do."
Rhea blushed and moved to sit where Cindy indicated, leaning her staff against the end of the bed so that for once she wouldn't have to hold it.
"Mama still doesn't trust me," she said softly, wringing her hands together. "It's like I'm still the same child I was when you first arrived. I'll be an adult in less than a year ..."
Indeed... and Cindy actually couldn't disagree with Rhea on that account. True there were still worries about her abilities but they stemmed from the fact that so little was known even now about Rhea's gift.
But Cindy did... had to trust Rhea to not over do it, or do anything too dangerous.
"She worries about you," Cindy murmured softly, "The nature of your gift has made things difficult. Though I do admit, you should be doing something..."
Rhea sighed. "Lin thinks I should help Miyu with her shyness. How am I supposed to do that? It's not magic, that I can take it away - and even if it was, it would only be a temporary solution, and it wouldn't solve anything."
Even if she did manage to befriend the girl, it wouldn't help her not to be afraid of others she would meet in the future.
"I actually wonder if she is shy, sometimes it seems initially she's more scared or frightened easily," Cindy murmured.
Which when she was little made sense everything was big to a Surprise, but it almost seemed like a reaction she couldn't grow out of it.
Going back to the problem at hand, "And I think it's the act of simply being there for her. Miyu from what I understand doesn't really spend a lot of time with other people. I don't think shyness in itself will go away, but if Miyu needs to work with people she's never met having someone closer to her age there would be of help."
Well as close as one could get for a Second and time differences Cindy mused and she was sure Miyu got her personality from Jaseth.
Rhea still didn't know how she could help. Aragost was already there for Miyu, wasn't he? What could Rhea do that Aragost would not be able to do? After all, Aragost was the one whose power was nearly unlimited.
"But wouldn't the children have the same problem?" she asked softly. "Wouldn't they also be afraid of her? After all, they've been through a terrifying ordeal ... and she's not exactly something they would be familiar with."
For each and every one of the children, a girl with wings would be a new and probably terrifying experience.
Cindy had to admit that thought was a good point, though from what little stories she heard, the children seemed by the time they arrived at Haven more curious than anything else.
"I don't know... it isn't the first time Miyu has been around when the children have arrived, granted normally mother is there too, which I hear this time she isn't and won't be for a long while."
And of course her mother had much larger wings.
"And... well I can't recall them shying away overly much when I went there, granted the last time I was there when the children just arrived has been a long while myself."
Though she had to admit that would be an interesting problem.
"Just be there," Cindy murmured patting Rhea on the knee, "Sometimes the act of just being there is helpful whether it is for the children or for Miyu."
Besides Cindy wondered if it was just Lin's way of saying that Miyu needed another friend, someone she could at least relate to. Sure Miyu had fun with Arwen, but she had never been able to relate to Arwen between time gaps and Arwen being very... out going.
