Maximus stared into space a moment before having a delayed reaction to Lorien's question. "Huh? Oh, yeah, I'm fine. Just a little nervous I suppose. I'm actually almost home."
He nodded and hopped away from the table, smiling as he watched everyone else on the boat running back and forth for last minute memories or to get their things together. "It's a good thing we packed light." He said, frowning at the packed hallway that lead to their room.

Lorien chuckled lightly. "Yeah...I don't think I could take them out in a normal fashion. People would stare if they saw vines carrying out trunks of stuff we have." She sighed before picking up some of her belongings and packing them back into her bag. "Alright...I'm ready to depart when you are."

Maximus chuckled at the thought. "I think they'd get jealous and ask for our help."
He wove through the scurrying crowd, pausing at window to look out. The docks were packed with other boats of all sizes. There were many buildings along the shore. Buildings rose in the distance. Smiling, he hurried up to the deck, setting his bag down and placing his paws on the railing, the sea wind ruffling his fur. The water was a pristine blue made choppy by the boat. "Isn't it nice Lorien?"

Lorien laughed. "I'm sure they would." She eventually followed Maximus out of the boat and through the crowd. She stared at the place in awe. "Wow...the buildings are really big." The earth moonlit looked around the place. "Is this really how you imagined it?"

Maximus shook his head. "I wasn't sure what I was expecting really. It does look very nice though, which is encouraging." He smiled, tail wagging slowly. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad? That cloud he had always felt back at the mansion was still there, but for the moment was light and easily ignorable. "We better go. I don't wish to be last off this boat." He chuckled, grabbing his things.

Lorien nodded her head. She wondered what he was expecting Rome to look like. Nonetheless she grabbed her valuables before departing the boat. "Well...It doesn't look too bad."

Maximus nodded. "It looks rather pleasant to me." Modern buildings lined most of the shore while older buildings peeked through, the amount increasing as they went inland.
Once they reached the bus line, Maximus stopped to survey and clear his head. He didn't know where to go next. He wondered where other moonlits lived here.

Lorien looked the place over. "Well I'm happy it's what you expected. It would be sad if it wasn't." She looked at the tall buildings wondering how people could build such things.

Cocking his head, Maximus found a small smile gracing his maw. It was nice to see someone else care about what he felt.
Soon a bus pulled up and the two wolves got on, aiming to get to the pre-reserved hotel/kennel room. As it drove, the male watched the buildings going by, hoping something would grab his attention, would spark a memory, something to tell him why he was here.

Lorien stared at all the buildings in amazement. "So...do any of these buildings strike anything familiar?"

Maximus frowned and shook his head. "It seems familiar, but nothing in particular." His ears lowered with each passing block, the faint familiarity tickling his senses, but nothing standing out to him. They soon reached the kennel, before anything could happen. "Perhaps we check our room, grab a bite, then maybe my mind will be refreshed." He offered, an apologetic smile on his maw.

Lorien nodded her head in agreement. "That sounds fine to me. Plus I think we could use it. It's been quite a while that we have been traveling." She put a paw on his shoulder. "I'm sure something will stick out here sooner or later."

Maximus blinked, glancing at the paw on his shoulder in surprise. She was being so comforting and encouraging... "My dear, you're going to spoil me with your upbeat mood." He said with a chuckle, nodding his head. "Okay. We shall rest a bit first, then continue on."
They reached the hotel without any enlightenment. Sighing, he walked inside with Lorien, a bellhop leading the way to their kennel, though at this hotel it was more like a personal room for the animal kind. Maximus turned to the man. "I'd like a nice cut of meat if you could bring it here. And something for the lady." He turned. "Would you like something to eat Lorien?"

Lorien blinked as well then looked at herself with the paw on Maximus before pulling it off in shock. "Uh...sorry about that..." She blushed a bit. "That sounds good." Lorien then followed Maximus to the hotel and watched as he checked in. "Well...any strawberries and cream? That sounds nice or some sparkling lemonade."

Maximus smiled. He didn't mind the comfort. It wasn't a bad thing. He just wasn't used to it.
When the bellman left to fill their order, Maximus put his bag to the side, pulling out a blanket from home, a map, and a chew toy. He set the blanket and chew toy on one of the beds, then laid the map out on the floor, spreading it out to look through it again.
