"Uh... Okay," Aya said before putting her ocarina to her mouth and started to play a song.

((This song is one of my favorites. It's from one of the best video games ever. It isn't perfect, but it's close. Oh, and it's not me playing. I don't even own an ocarina. XD I play violin.))

((Yeah. I was gonna say, 'You're a guy?' Lolerz. XD))

"U-um...no...that is...um..." Anna stuttered, the color on her face deepening as Mort leaned closer. As Ainsley came to her rescue, she was very thankful, and decided on coming to hers. "Do you doubt her? Yeah, I think the vents can be shifted. I'll check." She could tell that Ainsley was actually cold, and quietly turned the heater up about three or four degrees. She herself was getting cold, as she had a tendency to do. Then she leaned over to see what it was that Aya was playing. "Hey, that reminds me of something. It's an...ocarina, right?" She managed to say 'ocarina' at the same moment as Aya. She laughed, pulled back, and listened. She clapped quietly when the song was finished.

Lysander's smile didn't waver as the girl looked into his eyes, giving him the distinct impression that she didn't like him. Whatever, like he cared. He snorted at her excuse.
"Right..."
Lysander had gone back to retreating back to his corner when he noticed. The quiet one had pulled out an ocarina. Lysander hadn't seen many ocarinas, so he wasn't sure how to react. When the girl began playing, Lysander began hard thought. Where had he heard this? He knew he had heard it somewhere. He kept thinking and thinking, but his pose could have been mistaken for trying to stifle laughter.

Mort's eyes filled with curiosity as the Ocarina was pulled out and played. His family was rigidly set against any music that did not belong in a traditional symphony. Of course, that was why he had left- there was no romance in his family, only profit and the ever-looming family company. When the song ended he clapped distractedly and slided over to Aya's side. He held out his hand, his head turned to one side like a bird.

"May I see that? It's such an exotic instrument and I've heard anything with such a pure, earthy sound..."

((I can play that on the flute!))

Ainsley was grateful that there wasn't very much air blowing on her bare legs, but she couldn't help run her hands twice over the goosebumps to push them away. She sneaked a glance at Anna, wondering if she shared her opinion that Mort was getting cuter by the second.

Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Lysander, hunched over. At first, she thought that he was laughing, but it occurred to her that he was the kind of person who would laugh out loud, not hide it. But then what was he doing? The ridiculous thought that he was playing an intense game of chess with one of his other personalities came to mind and she couldn't help break into a smile. Well, if he was, she was rooting for the nicer one.

Lysander was now thinking so hard he was having an extreme headache. He still couldn't think of where the song was from, and now it was even harder with the quiet one having finished the song. Lysander kept thinking and thinking until he caved. It would bug him until he figured it out. So, finally throwing his pride aside, he looked up. Fire burned in his eye and his jaw was set. Unintentionally he spoke as if they didn't give the right answer he would slit their throats before they could react.
"Where is that song from? I've heard of it before, but I cannot place it for the life of me."

Just Before An Eclipse

PostPosted: Fri Mar 20, 2009 1:20 am

Before her father's death, Ainsley had owned a PlayStation 1. She actually gave him a smile, and said softly, "I think it's from VIII, Final Fantasy Eight. I don't know the name though." Though he had acted inappropriately before, his question was reasonable. She did ignore his tone, keeping her own soft as if trying to sooth a hurt animal.

With his answer, Lysander nodded, looking off into space, thinking yet again. He knew for a fact he hadn't played the game. He had played some videogames, but not many. And definitely none as long-term as Final Fantasy. So, Lysander began thinking. Where could he have heard it. Then it hit him. Many of his flunkies would play videogames in their pastime. That, or rather inappropriate things. The point was, however, Lysander had figured out his mystery. Lysander immediately nodded his head then shrugged, getting back to his comfortable position. He pulled out his yo-yo again, only to pause to ask another question. This time, it wasn't in a threatening tone.
"Where are we going and when are we getting there?"

((You're so lucky, Eclipse! I only memorized the words...))

"Huh? Oh, sure," Aya answered Mort and handed her ocarina to him. When Ainsley said that she didn't know the name of the song, Aya said, "It's called Eyes on Me. And we were wondering where we're going as well," she answered Lysander.

Dakota stood up and started back towards the house, pulling out her cell along the way. She caught herself in mid-text, texting Steven. I'm going to have to get a replacement soon..... She, instead, connected the phone to the speaker systems around the house. Everyone in an outside the house, but still in the yard, could hear her words. "Samuel Landon, will you please make your way to my office." She hadn't actually met the guy, she had hired him for his skill and his backgroud check had turned up clean. But still she had planned to speak to him soon anyway. She made it to her door just as he did.

Samuel had been lounging in the forest when Dakota called for him. Hmmmm...Dakota, Dakota. He made his way to her office and arrived just as she did. "Hello Lady Dakota. There is something you wish to speak to me about?" She didn't answer him but fumbled with the door and, after she finally got it open, led him into her office. He stood in between the desk and door as she went to the chair and sat down. She didn't speak for a few minutes.

((Mort is so cute he's in danger of hurting himself. Should I reign it in a bit?))

Mort held the ocarina above his head so it caught the light. His eyes sparkled as he examined the piece.

"Wow...so simple and yet it makes such a lovely sound...There's not even any metal in it. So amazing..."

Mort hugged the instrument tightly and turned to Aya, his eyes filled with the inner light of joy. "May I play it? Please? Just a few notes?"
PostPosted: Fri Mar 20, 2009 5:23 pm

((I like Mort's innocence and cuteness. ^^))

"Oh, uh, sure. Just let me clean the mouthpiece first," Aya answered. It would technically be like an indirect kiss on his part if she didn't. That would be a little weird.

((Nah, his I.A.C. is fine. Strange, though, because when we first designed him we were thinking U.A.P.))

Anna felt relieved that Aya said she'd clean the mouthpiece first. An indirect kiss between them, especially if he didn't know, would just be...awkward. And random. She didn't know why else, though.

((Uh... I.A.C.? U.A.P.? Um... What? Stefis is confused. XD Talking in third person is fun.))

(( I dunno either. I wish I knew what she was talking about, honestly. All of this termanology makes my brain twitch. ))

Mort obligingly handed over the ocarina to be cleaned, then took it back. With bright eyes he slowly raised the intsrument to his lips...

...And produced a the most horrible and ungodly sound ever heard. It raked through the ears and shook the windows.

Eventually the sound faded but the memory of it rang through the ears. Shaking slightly, Mort lowered the Ocarina.

"Sorry...I've never uh...played a wind intsrument before..."
