Lumi quickly had an 'oh s**t... shouldn't have said that look' on her face. She lowered her head in embarrassment and nodded her head. "No.. no... I know. it's just well... you know..." She nodded her head towards Heret, and widened her eyes for some sort of effect. Becuase Heret really WAS blind, completely. She trotted a little closer to Chanda, trying to get her just a bit away from Heret, hoping he wouldn't hear her when she whispered- "It's just that... well, Heret is blind, and i'm going to need a bit of help... so, you'd be more useful with me i think." She hoped that Chanda bought that, it wasn't neccessarily a lie, but it wasn't the only reason that the three of them were staying behind. In a sense she sort of WAS babysitting, but she also did need the help. she just hoped Chanda didn't fight that, or try to go after her, it would only result in Lumi feeling obligated to go after her, adn when that happened, she might lose Heret as well.

Anything Benholz was going to say in response to Rook, a quiet reassurance, perhaps an offer to look into his future, was drowned out by the sudden flurry of motion and confusion. Rearing back to look over the heads of those already pounding into the bushes, Benholz leaped neatly over the nearest, and apparently angry and stationary, Herla (whose name, as far as she could deduce from all the yelling, was probably Chanda) and moved around the bushes, hoping to cut off any possible paths of escape. She moved more slowly than those dashing after the little thing, though since she was not hot on its trail there was no need for that particular haste, but her long legs took her at a decent clip nonetheless.
Anything her Guardian said she ignored completely, and after a few clearings of a nonexistent throat, Alonso retreated back into wherever it was he went, leaving Benholz alone as she slowed, closing her eyes and trying to focus what limited precognition she did have. When no particular gut feelings presented themselves, she opened her eyes, ducked her head forward and lashed her antlers out in irritation, and picked up the pace, still moving in a wide arc toward where she suspected the main of the group to have gone.

Chanda let out a breath, still trying to calm herself. If she hated being treated like this so much, prehaps Heret did as well. "..We should stay together.. But I think we should go too." Her mind moved quickly as she walked to be right beside Heret. "With one of us at each side, You'll not misstep." A lighter tone, one happier showed through in her voice. Why should they be left behind? Quite simply put, they shouldn't. Surely Heret's other senses were sharper to help. He would notice things that the others wouldn't. Her own senses weren't quite that strong.. But then, if she got to the bear king, they wouldn't need to be..

Lumi went back to the other side of Heret; she notice that Chanda was trying to make the situation a bit lighter... so while laughing lightly she informed Heret- "Congratulations Heret, you have two beautiful doe on either side of you, you should be rejoicing." Lumi riased her head and watched as the fortune teller who called herself Benholz or something went bounding off in the other direction... as if she were looking for something. Ofcourse it wasn't in the exact opposite direction... she seemed like she was just trying to cut her off. so, Lumi called out "Benholz... what are you doing?"

Pausing in mid-step at the question, Benholz looked over her shoulder. "It seemed an appropriate course of action to keep the flank covered, should anything try to dart away with a sharp turn," she called, then turned her head and continued on trotting, buzzing her wings loudly against leaves and branches to flush out anything hidden or gone to ground in the undergrowth. She still wasn't entirely sure what she was looking for, but no doubt if she came across it, she'd know.
And then probably be run over by about fifteen other Herla still engaged in a mad dash to catch it.

Chanda smiled, almost laughing. She'd end up as back up after all... Still, Beholz would need help if she were to really succeed at her idea. "Would you like some help?" The doe tossed her head, brushing the mane out of her eyes to get a better look at what features she could make out on the hind.

Now, Makaio was not exactly what you would call slow. On the flip side of this, he was not exactly what you would call fast, either. Putting hinges in his "legs" to simulate ankles wouldn't have been so hard to do, but it would have certainly compromised their strength. So he dealt without them - dealt with the fact that he wasn't as fast as most other Herla.
That's not to say that these things didn't frustrate him in choice situations, like the one he was in now. Charlotte and that other buck had darted off like there was a pack of hungry somethings behind them, so of course Makaio couldn't keep up. He didn't stop trying, though, and kept up a steady canter throughout the wood - or at least, as much of one he could maintain given the thickness of the brush. He kept his ears pricked and his tail high, following the others by ear and not by eye.

(dimitri i love how that rhymed)
Lumi followed along side of Chanda, Heret somehwhat wedged inbetween the two of them. A frustrated look crossed over her face, they weren't moving as fast as she would have liked, but they were moving and she supposed that was the real point of the matter. She wondered how idiotic they might look, going along like they were. She shook the image from her mind and tried her best to keep a firm eye on the quick footed Benholz.

"Hm?" Iris sat up watching most of the Herla take off for something in the brush. Was it that creature he saw earlier, he wondered? Standing to all fours he moved forward but made no attempt to give chase, he just wasn't fast enough and the best he could do was get lost and then they'd have to find him too.
Poking at the shiny metal he had pulled from the bush he gave it a soft kick again it rolled to the bush. Maybe if he disturbed the bush the creature would come out? Instead he stepped back snorting, he didn't like the way the thing had rattled at him and stuck its tongue out. It scared Iris. Looking up in enough time to find Benholz closing the gap between those running the thing down, he followed at a safe distance. Did anyone else get a good look at it? He wondered about this as he nudge bushes and kicked at rock. If he saw it at least he could identify it... cause there was no way he would attack. Too scary.

Charlotte just barely kept an eye on the tail of the creature. Her ears caught the sound of hooves to her right, moving around to flank it. They also heard the syncopated sound of Shayann's hooves and paws directly behind her. Further back came the clatter of the others, trying to keep up.
Good, dearest one. Keep it in sight. The others were trained well and will know what to do. You will chase it to its safe-hold. Then we will take back what was stolen from us. Yes, we will take ours back...
Arkadian's voice quieted to a murmur, talking to himself again. He was slightly unbalanced, but a good Guardian. Though, he can be a bit of a distraction, she thought, barely missing a low-hanging branch with her head.
Too many hoof-things... Must go to home. Safe. More coming. Bring the others around. Run to ground.
Before her eyes, the small creature was joined from the surrounding underbrush by about a dozen of fellows, each having the same mane around its small head. "More of them!" she yelled back at her compatriots. "Let's see where they're all going!" Charlotte tossed her head, laughing with the pure energy of the chase.

Iris stared, he hadn't expected to find the creature so quickly but it wasn't just one there were two poking their tiny heads out of the bush. "Oh... um.. hello?" He called, as they hissed at him then sunk back under the bushes slithering away. "Oh please wait I think you might have something of ours..." Chasing after them he kept a safe distance but followed the two for now, uncertain of what the other Herla were up to. "Please wait! I won't hurt you we just need our things back! Hey!" Iris wasn't sure if this was part of the plan but everyone running in wild directions couldn't be a good thing. Even so he managed to look around and saw a few Herla from his group nearby. That was good at least he wasn't lost... yet.

(Dude, I had no intention for that to rhyme. o_o)
It was a good thing, in retrospect, that there was no Herla behind Makaio. It would have been an awful shame for one of them to get a kick to their jaw as the buck did just that: bucked. It was a brief little thing, like the one he had done when Charlotte picked him out. Those groups didn't matter anymore, now, but it was the brief spasm of joy that had made him look like a rodeo horse both times, flinging his hinds legs high up into the air as he continued onwards. He felt like a fawn again, here chasing things...and with other Herla that were just as excited as he was. If that wasn't an anamoly!
When he caught a glimpse of something white and gold out of the corner of his eye, at first he thought it might've been a creature. But, no, this was definitely a Herla. Was that...the Pearl?
Oh me oh my, his Guardian muttered in a low, concerned tone. You'd best watch that one.
Now, as much as Makaio didn't entirely understand the way Guardians picked their Herla and vice-versa, he was fond of his. She didn't talk much, and when she did, he always knew that it was something he should do. She had never steered him wrong before. He certainly was not about the compromise the chase, however - it wasn't often he got an opportunity like this, and almost never with other Herla - and moved a bit closer to Iris as he continued to run forward, the diagonal left of the doe and buck leading the chase.
"Hey, pretty boy!" he called to the enthusiastic buck who seemed to be on his own separate chase. The call was not an insult in the slightest: just a term of endearment that Makaio thought was suitably appropriate. After all, who was he to call any other buck a pretty boy and mean it in anyway but playful nicknaming? Makaio was nobody's hypocrite.

Jerking his head from the bush he was greeted by another Herla. Having seen this one once before when he was sniffing around for the shiny metals. "Ah... hello." He greeted his attention split between the Herla and the critters. Once again his snout went to nosing at the brush, the sound of slithering not too far. "I'm sorry... ah no... um.. they're getting away." He informed moving forward once again. He half canted trying not to be rude but wanting to keep pace with the strange creatures.
"I found two of them. They're moving away... can you please help. They look scary." Iris bleated out, his steps going only as fast as it would take to keep up rather than pounce. No there would be no pouncing on these things today. "Is there a way to catch them without harming them?" He asked while nosing more bush he found the critters slither under.

Chanda's ears twiched with the sound of hoof beats, and a thrill ran through her. "They're comming this way!" She nosed Heret with a slight push as she moved a bit quicker, hoping that Lumi would catch on quickly enough. Quite a few little somethings were scurrying through the bursh, she could hear the squeaks and... A new thrill went through her, something quite like fear. They would be run over!

With the appearance of more of the things, Benholz had laughed delightedly and put on a burst of speed, moving into nearly a full gallop in an attempt to draw in closer to the rest of the party. The appearance of more of the little things made her laugh with something akin to delight, and she lunged into an even longer stride, attempting to draw parallel while keeping her distance. If anything darted out to the side, she'd be after it in a heartbeat.
Getting a better look at the little beasts now, she was thrilled at them. They were darling in their own way, but also very, very interesting to look at in general. The little manes were peculiar.
