*Enters the kitchen and tips his hat to the chef* heart

Looks excellent!

*He walks over to the first collection of foodstuffs and prepares a simple - but tasty - ham and cheese sandwich, then pauses slightly and contemplates what soup to have with it. After a few moments of internal debate, he finally settles on some chicken and rice soup, pours himself a nice bowl, gets a napkin and goes to take his seat*

* Fixes a smoked turkey on sourdough sandwich, remembering to put some sliced tomato and lettuce in it, dishes a bowl of Baked Potato soup, and sits near DV*

How's the Modly business treating you? I hope the workload isn't too taxing.

*Smiles*

Oh, it's not too bad...

*takes a bite out of his sandwich, chews and swallows before proceeding*

... You just have to know how to organize things. For instance, I could easily spend all my time on Gaia just sorting through reports and they'd never end, but then I'd burn out quickly. So since there are so many new Mods now and we all have a shared pool of reports, I can take it easy today and only do what needs to be done, without feeling guilty about it and then be back with new energy tomorrow. heart

*Takes a spoonful of soup, blows on it and eats it*

Oh, but it's not all work. There are plenty of great perks to being a Mod too.

I suppose that rumor of the Modly discount in the shops isn't true, huh?

But yeah. It's important to balance the workload with the fun stuff. And to have an asbestos flameproof suit for when things get really hot! xd

Unfortunately, that rumour is not true. whee However, since we have a special staff only server, we never have to worry about the bank being overloaded. Ever. That's definitely quite a perk.

Oh, and when things get really hot, we just wave the banhammer. The threat alone is enough to make most back off. wink

*takes another bite of the sandwich*

Aw, there's nothing going on in the kitchen tonight?

Well, I suppose I could... mmm... Yes, that'll work...

*exits, stage left*

-Fifteen minutes pass-

*enters again, carrying a loaf of bread, fresh from the store, then proceeds to once again take out the left over meats and cheese from last night and puts them on the table. He opens the fridge and looks at the soups*

Hm... I'd have to warm those... Not really in the mood for soup tonight anyway...

*He closes the fridge door again, slices the bread, puts it in a little basket and places it in the middle of the other ingredients, takes a slice of bread and makes himself a little sandwich, then waits for more people to show up* heart

Ooh. Sandwiches again? This time I can fix myself something different. Maybe some pastrami on rye. With a little light Dijon mustard.

And a beer! Yeah. This definitely calls for a beer.

Thanks for setting this up, DV. Can I bring you one too?

I would love one. heart

And I apologize for not preparing anything more elaborate, but I thought it'd be a shame to let what was left over go to waste and I needed something quick so I could get back to my Modly duty.

I pulled into Nazareth, was feelin' 'bout half past dead
I just need someplace where I can lay my head
"Hey, mister, can you tell me where a man might find a bed?"
He just grinned and shook his head. "No" was all he said

I've been neglecting this kitchen. And I missed Sir Haru! :sigh: Just haven't felt culinarily inspired lately. It's all just a rehash of the same old stuff.

*puts kettle on and watches the gas flames of the burner glitter in the partial darkness*

Maybe tomorrow I could make some comfort food. Something with mashed potatoes.

*puts tea in the pot and waits for kettle to heat up, pulls out some Mint Milano cookies*

What's 'taters, precious? xd

*turns burner off and pours water into the pot*

:sigh: The Modists are going to think I'm nuts if they catch me in the kitchen talking to myself.

*sits at the small kitchen table with a cup 'o tea and takes some cookies from the bag*

Spiral walks in and sits heavily in the seat beside Usagi. You know, I don't think you're nuts. I talk to myself all the time. Besides, I was eavedropping so you weren't really talking to yourself...you were talking to me.

I don't think we have a right to expect you to cook if your not inspired. Your cooking is an art, and without inspiration it will flunder and die inside of you and you will begin to resent it. You could try what I try when I need inspiration...watch the rain fall or take a walk in the gardens.

We keep the pies over there in that piece of furniture with the pierced tin on the front. It's an antique styled pie safe. But being Modists, of course, ours has wing designs on it.
