"Funny you should say that, a friend of mine at the music store gave us a bunch of them. Look in the drawer by you on the right." Al grabbed his harness, tape, and snare and harnessed up. "Dang, I need to adjust the harness, it's already to high." Al looked at the pathetic old marimba just taking up space now. "We need a new one, and I'd rather a couch over that. We should go garage saling for one."

Cameron listened to Al, as he went over to the drawer, grabbed a drum key. "Sweet," and began tuning his drum. "Whew, I can't wait until marching seasons over, so I can put my drum away for good," said Cam as he was adjusting and striking the head a couple times.

"Are you kidding? I hope for a long one. I think we can do a damn good job this year. We work hard enough, maybe we can do indoor percussion come winter." Al smiled and adjusted his harness until it was at the perfect height. He had already tuned up his heads, so he was ready to go. "What time is tap off?"

"Yeah but you didn't have to march all 4 years of high school. I love band, it's just marching is annoying. And I think tap-off's at 12:00" Cameron striked his drum once more to see if his drum is tuned up. "Perfect," he said.

"Yeah, but three years is still plenty. I do agree with you there though, marching is annoying." Al looked at the clock. "We got ten minutes. I guess not everyone is showing up for the first day?"

" Freshmens always want to be so badass so they show up late all the time on their first day," explained Cameron as he gets ready.

"Well, they'll learn the hard way why you don't do that period." Al smiled and got all his equipment together.

Kale stared blankly as Cameron and Al chatted and fixed their equipment like it was nothing at all. He had dreamed to like they were but knew he wasn't cut out for it, but as long as he could dream he wouldn't fall back into the depression that haunted him for all those years before band. "So has anyone seen the music for this year? I REALLY need to learn it before the end of camp otherwise I'm screwed."

Dani walks up to Kale. "Hey I'm Dani, what instrument do you play?"

Kale turns to see Dani standing in front of him and politely introduces himself, "Hi I'm Kale and I'm on Marimba again this year. What do you play?"

Jonathan looked around. "Alright guys, let's get these chairs set up!" He said, trying to gather order and impress Leslie.

Michelle stopped what she was doing and looked at Jonathan trying to get order. She shrugged, unhooked her neck strap and helped to set up the chairs.

Jonathan helped set up chairs in the rehersal room. The only thing he hated was the fact that the custodial staff never left the chairs in their places... they were always moved around. He let out a sigh, but Leslie wasn't in sight, and it bothered him.
