RP that occured August 28, 2004: Night had become day, as the process always went, and Tosten had woken earlier then expected despite his comforts of being near a friend. Though he had tried to rest further, curled to Ares' side, it eventually was just hopeless.
"Eleven... eleven..." He had scrabbled out of the drawer and sat just over it on the table top instead. The remote was beside him and he was pushing down on the channel button while watching the television flicker through the stations. When he got to the one he desired he squealed in delight and settled happily, glancing momentarily to the slumbering Ares before focusing on his Saturday morning cartoons.Ares stirred a little bit in her sleep, her head rolling to the left as her closed eyes flinched. It wasn't the sound of the television bothering her, it was merely the dream she seemed to be having. Falling...broken wings...and someone reaching out to her from above. What was this...? And why did it feel so real? In her dream, as she looked over her shoulder, there was only darkness...and then red. Ares' three eyes snapped wide open then as she jolted awake, her head pulling upright to quickly inspect her surroundings. Nothing was wrong...she wasn't falling. Instinctively, she lifted her wings, folding them down over her shoulders like a cape. They weren't broken, either... What an odd dream.
Lifting a delicate hand, she covered her mouth as she yawned silently, her left side feeling a little cold. Tosten must have moved, she figured, and sure enough, there he was with the remote above her. Her ears twitched a little bit, and her red eyes glanced momentarily to the flickering lights reflecting a little bit on the ceiling. Some sort of cartoon...what else would have such bright colors? She stayed quiet as she looked back to the blue feien, her black tail curling around herself a little bit.The movements below were lost upon Tosten, his mind was absorbed fully into the Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon. It was a funny word, hedgehog, and why would being one make you so fast? Ah, he'd like to be a hedgehog! He giggled to himself only to pout instead as a commercial claimed the show.
"Hmnn..." A mild sigh-whine was issued, shoulders slouched gingerly as he eyed the commercial. Some video game, not interesting! So he absently glanced down to check on Ares, back up, then down again in surprise when it registered what he had seen. Her eyes were open.
"You're awake!" He announced like it was all that big of a shock. He beamed a grin cheerfully. "Good mooooorning! It's morning. Did you sleep well? -- Omigosh! I didn't wake you up, did I?! I kept the TV quiet and everything!"Ares smiled a little bit, shaking her head. "No no, you didn't wake me...and yes, I slept fine, thank you."
Carefully, she stood slowly, most of the aches and pains from the night before gone. The rest had indeed helped quite a bit, but she wouldn't doubt not being able to fly for too long quite yet. She was rather glad that Neko would be coming later to retrieve her...
"What about you, Tosten? Did you sleep all right?"Tosten eyed her unsurely when she stood, his good wing fanning out slightly as he instinctively prepared to move in case she wasn't as recovered as she thought she was.
"Uh-huh, I slept really good." He replied pleasedly, studying her before relaxing his wing and his posture. She seemed sturdy enough, maybe sleep really had been all she needed. "Here, do you wanna come up here? There's food and stuff. I tried not to eat it all cause I dunno what you like but there's, um..."
Bi-colored eyes flit to the tray beside him, studying the contents. "There some strawberries, and grape, and melon, and cheese, and cracker - the buttered kind, I love those! - Do you like any of that? I can have Nekota bring other stuff." He peered back to her intently.The time feien looked around for a moment, trying to figure out how to get out without flying. It seemed simple enough...perhaps the towel would work for a climb. Thus, she did climb up the towel, it not taking very long to pull herself up onto the table, her tail flicking a little bit. Sitting back down, she looked to the tray for a moment before picking up the strawberry, wondering how long it had been since she'd eaten one (since Neko didn't like them and usually only had grapes and blueberries).
"I'll have to remember to thank him later," she said softly after taking a small bite of the red fruit and swallowing. "And thank you, Tosten, for helping me last night."The strawberries were cut into slices proper for a feien meal, much like the manner a watermelon was cut. Tosten looked pleased when she ate, food was a very vital thing and he'd make sure she got enough of it.
"Ah? I didn't do anything though..." He replied in surprised. In fact, as he embarrassingly recalled, he got all teary-eyed and dramatic about himself instead. Luckily he felt much better today and was sure such a situation wasn't going to repeat itself anytime soon.Ares took another small bite of the strawberry, swallowing before speaking again. "You took care of me," she said, smiling a little bit. "I don't think that's not doing anything."Tosten blinked at her puzzledly, none too sure how he did that... but if she thought so then he was proud, so he preened happily despite his confusion. "Oh, well... you're welcome then! I'm happy to, I mean really! If you need anything you just have to tell me, okay? I like doing it."
He beamed happily with his words, bracing his hands upon the table top before him where he sat. The cartoon had started again but he hardly noticed, happy to have Ares to bestow his attention on instead.Ares stopped for a moment, shifting her legs so that she could sit cross-legged, staring down at the piece of strawberry in her hands. She felt rather guilty now, having come all the way here only to collaspe, to speak with him only to not have him want to talk about the issue any longer, and now to be leaving soon, after all of his troubles. She was quiet as she thought, her tail flicking a little bit on the table. Even if it wasn't, a part of her had felt it was her own fault that Tosten had gotten hurt. Had she been there...or even yet, as she not sought out the information he was willing to finally give her...
"How does your wing feel?" she asked, turning her three eyes to the blue feien.Tosten gave her a surprised look at the question and glanced back a little awkwardly to the wing. "Nekota says its healing nicely! It takes a long time though, I wish it was like a bruise or something and just goes away in a few days..."
He heaved a sigh then snatched up a cracker, given its size he could tuck one end in his lap and nibble at the top contently before he added on. "It's.. kinda, sorta, really boring though. I dunno what to do in here allllll day."Ares finished up her strawberry before continuing. "Have you ever tried to fly without your wings?" she questioned curiously.Tosten hesitated at that and shook his head rather sulkingly. "Well, no... I mean, did I tell you this? I forget, but Aileron came by. He told me I can fly without it and he'd help me learn my magic good to do it but... I'm not so good with magic."
He stuck out his tongue a bit at the thought. "I like my own wings better, I dunno if it makes sense, its sorta weird to put it in the right words."Ares smiled a little bit, nodding slowly.
"I understand how that is...I prefer to use my own wings as well, since my magic is very poor," she explained. "However...sometimes, it's a little useful. What if you learned just enough to perhaps get around your home? So that you wouldn't be bored..."Tosten scrunched up his nose a little. Oh dear, she was pressuring him too on this magic thing. He tipped back his head and peered at the wind doubtfully.
"But it hurts when I move too much, even if I use magic to fly it'd hurt and I won't concentrate - cause you hafta concentrate right? - and I'd fall down and break it again!" A scary though now that he absorbed it, he had to admit he understood why Gogol had always so vicious avoided flying. While he himself wasn't scared enough to stop, it was a scary thought right now without his wings well.Ares' wings shifted a little bit on her shoulders, raising a brow. He seemed to be dead set against not learning to fly with his magic...but she wouldn't force him. If she could persuade him to learn, then that was good too...but it wouldn't be forced.
"And if your wing was healed?" she asked quietly. "Tosten, why di you seem to be against magic so much? You say that you aren't very good...so there must have been a point in time where you at least tried it. Did something happen?"Tosten blinked at her in surprise, having been unaware that he came across in such a manner. He shook his head immediately. "Oh! No no, don't be worried, its nothing like that...!" He dropped the cracker as he held up his hands innocently. "I mean I tried a few times, I just don't ever really need it... its neat and all but I don't wanna do anything like fight... and I like flying with my wings."Ares sighed softly, folding her hands in her lap. He was stubborn, she'd give him that. Not wanting to press the matter much further, she shrugged a little bit to pass it off.
"Just keep moving, Tosten," she said, scooting closer to him. "I wouldn't want you getting out of shape."Tosten looked sheepish at that, scratching the back of his head. "Well, thats true... I guess it won't be good if I just stay in one place all that time, thats reaaaaally lazy." Where could he could though? He figured he could wander around and play adventurer on the floor of the keep once she was gone.
"Okay, I will! And when my wing is better I'll come visit you again as usual." He promised happily, and when she dared to scoot closer he latched onto her arm lovingly.Ares ruffled his already messy hair a little bit, leaning down enough to rest her head against his for a moment.
"I'd like that," she said, nodding a little. "I bet Tahki would be happy to see you again, too."Tosten giggled at the ruffle, peeking at her as best he could given the position. At the name he looked thoughtfully, then startled.
"Uwah! Tahki!" He blinked at Ares wide-eyed. "I forgot all about her! I never visited or anything...! And I promised you too, I'm sorry! I hope she wasn't lonely...""It's...quite all right. I'm not sure if she was lonely or not, but I came home to a note and a lot of pixapets," she explained. "She wasn't there to tell me how she felt...all she said was that she'd be back later and that you never stopped by like I had said you would. That...was the whole point in me coming here, Tosten. I got worried."Tosten's ears drooped expressively and he clutched a little more to her arm apologetically. "I'm sorry~, I didn't mean you make you worried. I.. I kind of forgot about Tahki." He felt guilty now that he thought about it, he hoped she hadn't been alone the whole time as once he had snatched from the keep that night he had entirely forgotten about her until now. "I'll hafta see her once I can and apologize!" He decided firmly."Personally, I think she was too occupied to be lonely," Ares admitted. "There were quite a few pixas there...I have a feeling Neko got them to keep Tahki from thinking about being lonely."Tosten nodded quietly, though he had already decided to go off and apologize as soon as possible regardless of if she had been lonely or not. "Its good if she wasn't lonely. Lonely is icky."
As he looked off toward the television at a particularly loud noise, the show had changed without his knowledge, he recalled the waning time. "Oh! I don't know if you heard Nekota this morning, but he called Neko. She'll be here soon, I think... Nekota said afternoon and when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is on its afternoon. And its on now so I think that means soon."Ares blinked her red eyes a few times, rather amused by his logic. It did make sense, however.
"Mm, I heard," she said, nodding a little bit.And speak of the devil. Neko yawned quietly as he knocked on the door, rubbing his eyes as his tail flicked lightly behind him. To him, it was rather early, and he wasn't used to making such a long trip when so tired. He'd tripped along the way several times, he was ragged, mussed, and just a little dirty from falling into the dirt so much. Even his shirt was backwards, thrown on in a hurry when he woke. Augh...a nap would be called for later, he knew.Tosten snuggled closer to Ares and rested his head upon her as he studied the cartoon now that he had noticed it again. "Will you visit me again soon?"The door was answered by the dark haired youth that always lurked Hurog's grounds. Pale violet eyes blinked at the dishelved Neko a few times before he sighed, "We don't have any spare money, try somewhere else."
He promptly went to close the door in poor Neko's face but it was jerked open as Nekota ducked beneath the arm and forced it open again. "Oreg, Oreg no, that's Neko-chan! Sorta. I mean, er..." Well he had been startled when there had been a male voice over the phone but Nekota wasn't ever a very bright person, he accepted the oddness quickly. Oreg, however, didn't. He rose an eyebrow and stared between Nekota and Neko blankly. Chan? Him?"Would you like me to?" she asked him, petting his head softly. She didn't want to be a bother to him or anything, and it would be nice to get out of the house sometime, but it was a rather long trip...she just wanted to be sure to get enough rest ahead of time.Neko stared sleepily at the black-haired boy as the door almost closed in her face. He straightened himself up a little bit, tugging on his leather collar uncomfortably as he was about to knock again, only to have the door fling open once more. ...Too...early...in the morning. He blinked his gold eyes a few times before dropping his hand again, his ears perking up a little.
"Er...excuse my appearance. I was...up...late," he explained.Tosten glanced to her some but refused to move his head even to see her better, not wanting to discourage the petting. "Of course! Thats silly to ask, I love being with you.""It's okay, it's okay!" Nekota ushered the groggy boy inside eagerly, blinking him over head to toe. This sure was strange but then again around Hurog he had endured people turning into weirder things... but this still ranked up there. Oreg watched blankly, pointing a pale finger at Neko. "... You're letting that inside? He looks like a beggar. Are you sure this is why you think it is?"Nekota blushed fiercely. "Oreg, don't say that, of course it is! Because, uh... uh... its... the same voice as on the phone, yes." Oreg rose an eyebrow and sighed tiredly, just closing the door as Nekota tugged Neko upstairs. "Here, I'll take you right there so you can get home, you really look like you need sleep." Ares smiled slightly. "Then, I'll come by again sometime next week. Does that sound okay?"Neko narrowed his eyes at Oreg as he stepped into, looking annoyed just like a cat. His ears draw back a little bit as he resisted the urge to hiss at the boy, his tail lashing angrily. Begger? Twitch twitch... BEGGER?? Oh, he'd show HIM how to be-- He immediately calmed down upon hearing the word sleep, his ears perking up again as he was tugged up the stairs. Looking over his shoulder, he stuck his tongue out at Oreg rather childishly before looking back to where he was going.
"Again, I'm sorry about this. I appreciate you taking care of Ares last night...it seems everyone's caring for my own feien lately," he sighed, wondering what he'll possibly do when he leaves to visit Domonic's home town next week. "I doubt she was any trouble, but still..."Tosten nodded in agreement, even if that sounded like a long time to him. Then again a few hours sounded like a long time, next week sounded like a whole year away. "Uh-huh!"With a blank stare Oreg watched Neko retreat making such a face, to which he only rolled his eyes and was off on his way with a few unfriendly things muttered beneath his breath."Oh, no, she was fine." Nekota agreed happily. "Tosten was really happy to see her too, so it was quite all right - ah, here we are." It was a short trip upstairs, first door on the left and he was pointing across the room to the beside table where the two feien so obviously perched. "Ares, Neko-chan's here!" Tosten looked up in disappointment, frowning across the room at that announcement... only to look perplexed at what seemed like a stranger with Nekota. "Um..."Ares looked to the door and shook her head a little bit, rather disappointed by Neko's appearance. "He could have at least dressed properly before going out," she sighed, reluctantly standing up while keeping a hand on Tosten's shoulder.Neko frowned slightly, flicking his tail curiously. "I haven't seen you in two weeks, and you're already grouchy at me?" he questioned. "And I came all the way here just to pick you up...""Mmm," Ares hummed, rolling her eyes at his sarcasm. "And believe me, I do appreciate it. Tosten, again I thank you for helping me last night."Tosten blinked between them both puzzledly. That was Neko? But wasn't Neko always a... she? He twitched an ear blankly but mustered a smile, however confused, at her thanks. "Oh, you're welcome! Get home safe, okay?"Nekota itched the back of his head awkwardly as he squinted at Neko. "Or just get home cause you look like you're going to fall over any moment." He fought the urge to nudge him and see if he could be toppled that easily. Ares nodded, leaning down to hug him a little bit, kissing his cheek lightly. "I'll see you again soon, Tosten..." she assured him before unfolding his wings and taking flight, glancing over her shoulder. "Take care of yourself. Farewell."
Gliding over to Neko, she landed carefully on his shoulder before looking to Nekota. "And thank you for allowing me to stay here. Forgive my intrusion.""Er, yes...again, thanks Neko-kun," he said and glanced toward the stairs, hoping he wouldn't fall down them on the way down. Stone hurt...especially down that many stairs.Tosten peered after her as she went, waving regardless of if she noticed or not. "Bye bye~! Be well! Tell Tahki I'll be visiting to say sorry!" And a few other needless comments rambled after until she was gone."Ah," Nekota blinked in surprise at Ares comments and grinned a little sheepishly. "It's all right." He tagged after them to ensure they found their way out, and maybe to ensure Neko didn't trip over his own feet, though once at the doors he bid them farewell ... and a little silent hope that they didn't walk into any trees.

August 28, 2004 So, I now have one feien back at home. Merri is still at Karma's, and Tahki is still missing. I searched everywhere I could think of...Blayde-kun's, the forest, the shop, Karma's, Neko-kun's...no where. I'm very happy that Ares made it back home safely...but a little unhappy that she'd zoomed off to the Hurog with what little energy she'd had left. I can understand her being worried about Tosten (poor guy...he has a broken wing!), but she got attacked by an owl. ...What would I have done if she'd gotten hurt?? She admitted it was against her better judgment...but still. I don't need two missing feien and a dead one. crying On a side note, there's a certain boy that lives with Neko-kun that I quite despise. ******** turd...calling me a beggar. It's not my fault, I swear! I'm not a morning person...I'm lucky Neko-kun recognized me enough to let me retrieve Ares. Perhaps I should go back and apologize soon...and maybe explain why I'm changed. After all, I'll be gone for at least a week to visit Domonic's home...perhaps he'd be willing to watch over Ares and Tahki for me while I'm gone. Since...the two of them get along with Tosten so well. I'm not sure when Merri's coming back, so I figure he'll stay with Karma until I come back. I have no idea...he seems to be okay, though. I found out he grew up...why he wouldn't tell me that himself, I have no idea, but hell, I can't complain. I just want to see him again soon... ~~~~~~~~~~Ares Well, I've returned. The trip with Arturo was splendid, and I was really happy to get away from a few weeks. His homeland is absolutely beautiful, and one day I would like to go back to see it again. The forests, the river...truly, they will be precious memories. I have learned a little bit about the older feien... Unlike my generation, they seem to be much more attached to nature and their elements. Water feien existing within the water...earth feien living among the ground... I wonder if my generation still do these things?
I got to see a few swords that Arturo had made when he was still living there. They were quite beautiful... I had no idea that he used to hold more magic power than he currently has. So, an ancient bonding with a human can alter ones power...as well as physique, given that Arturo had gained his mini-wings from the bonding process. Very interesting...it's almost as if it were like merging with a gemstone, yet somehow reversed? I wish I could learn more about this... The ancients and feien in general are beginning to catch my interest more and more as of late. There is a name whispered among a few of the feien of an ancient named Julius...the one who summoned Corvus. Perhaps one day, I shall seek him for knowledge... Perhaps he could tell me more about the ancient feien, this High Counsel Arturo had explained to me once before...
Upon returning, I found Tahki to be missing. She said she'd be back soon, and I trust that statement, but something doesn't feel right. I do hope she's all right... I also found that Tosten hadn't visited like he promised. In a rush I went to see if everything was all right. I was tired...perhaps, too tired, and the choice wasn't one of my wisest ones, but I had to know. Had I not been chased by that owl, I'm sure I would have been fine, but...as soon as I had gotten to the Hurog, I collapsed. Tosten was there by my side, however, when I came to, and cared for me while I couldn't move. A noble soul, he is...and without a doubt, the greatest friend a feien could ever have. Had I never met him...I have no idea where I would be now.
I stayed the night with him, both to keep him company (as he seemed to need it) and to rest up before going home. His wing was hurt by Sunil, so I am rather worried about him, but I needed to be home... He's still hiding something from me, I know, but...I'm not sure I need to know any longer. He was hurt because of me...because he was going to tell me the secrets. However, him getting hurt is not worth the knowledge. My friend...my poor Tosten...
I promised to see him again soon. I need to take it easy for a few days to get my strength back up after that little fiasco, so I said sometime next week. Perhaps I should try harder to leave the house a little more... I would like to see Ruya again soon, but I wish Merri would come home so that I could take him with me. He hasn't seen her in so long... I want to see Nero, as well. Perhaps soon, when everything calms down again. Yes...very soon.

August 30, 2004 Merrimack I'm keeping this short because quite frankly, I'm very tired and all I want to do is sleep. A bit reluctantly, I've returned home for good this time. I really didn't want to leave Globin, but...I needed to be here, I felt, and I promised my friend that I would indeed return to visit him. HOW, I'm not quite sure yet, but I will visit him.
I should have used my better judgement and called Neko to pick me up, but being the foolish feien I sometimes am I decided to fly home by myself. Well, I'll never do that again... I'm incredibly sore, and I'm completely exhausted. The bed is practically calling my name... Something really soft would be good tonight.
~~~~~~~~~~
Poor Merri... For his sake, I won't comment on anything he said. Anyway, Tahki still seems to be missing, but at least two of my feien are home now. Ares, however, wants to go out again soon... Hmph. My feien seem to not like staying in one place...
I have a gift for Merri since I missed his summonday, but he was so tired when he got here that it'll have to wait until tomorrow. I'm hoping he likes it...I worked really hard to make it, so...yes. I need to speak with Ares about writing out that music...
(August 31, 2004)Neko yawned quietly as he lazily stopped at the bottom of the stairs, his tail flicking and stretching as his ears drew back for a moment. It was about the afternoon now, and had just woken up. Lazy cat he way, really, but who cared? Domonic had gotten up early that morning to take care of a few things in the city, so the house was to himself for the most part, Sora busy feeding the pets. Juubei was with Ares, interested about her trip, so no one was around to bother him. Good...nothing better than having an afternoon to one's self. As the demon hanyou leaned backwards to stretch his back, his stomach began to make a rather irritating noise, obviously letting him know that he was hungry. Lunch was in order, after all... Perhaps he'd cook up some chicken today. Sauntering over to the kitchen, Neko stopped in front of the refrigerator, pulling the door open and glancing inside. Rice...rice... Was there none made? Well, damn...more work. Shutting the door, he opening the one to the freezer instead, and pulled out a small package of chicken breasts, tossing them onto the counter and shutting the door. Stepping over to a cabinet to retrieve a pot to cook some rice in, and a pan to fry the chicken, he stopped after a moment, nearly dropping the two objects. Something...was different. Slowly, Neko turned around, a pan in each hand, and blinked his gold eyes a few times, staring at the counter where he'd thrown the frozen chicken. Next to the chicken resides two foreign objects: some sort of oddly colored mushroom, and a bloom that seemed to resemble a two-toned paintbrush. ...What...the ******** were those, and where the hell did the come from? Setting the pot and pan on the counter next to him, he stepped over to the other counter to get a closer look at the two new items. They were rather pretty...maybe Domonic had picked them up earlier and left them for him to find. Picking up the black, white, and green flower like object, he inspected the item further before his gold eyes shot wide open, his entire body freezing with his ears perked up and his tail bristled. This wasn't a sculpture. This was living. This object carried magic. ...This flower was a FEIEN bloom. " Oh my ******** God WHY?!??!?!?!" he screamed at the top of his lungs, quickly setting the bloom down and backing away from it like it were the plague. He had already touched it...it was too late! " NOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I don't need another one to lose!!" His hands began to tremble slightly as he could already feel his mind breaking down. Another bloom...another ******** bloom. That was FOUR!!! Oh Gods...why him? Did he do something wrong and he was being punished? ...Wait. ...Oh ********. Neko's fingers fumbled around the edge of the counter, looking for the utensil drawer. Finding it and opening it, he took out a pair of tongs, clicking a few times as he stared at the feien...mushroom. He would NOT have five...NEVER again would he care for two blooms at once! Reaching over, Neko carefully took the mushroom bloom in the tongs, turning around to open a cupboard. Fishing inside, he picked out a small container, and placed the item gently inside. " I'll take you to a friend of mine..." Neko said softly, flicking his tail curiously as he put the tongs away. " I doubt I'd stay sane from two of Tahki's kids...I doubt I'd be able to handle just one." Reaching over and taking up the black and white flower carefully in his fingers, he lifted a brow. " You, my friend...we're going to have an interesting time together."
August 31, 2004 What the ********? =_= Tahki disappears, and a bloom arrives. Just like Ares, ne? The connection is simple...and I think that mushroom confirms it, personally. I'll need to give Karma a call...see if she got a "gift" as well. Grah...this ticks me off to no end. >.< She could have at least talked to me before she just went off and did this! Gods...breeding is a big thing. It would have been nice to be warned that I was going to bond with another feien. I mean...I know I carry a lot of magic myself...and my life span is who knows how long. But...but WARNING! I hate surprises... crying ~~~~~~~~~~Ares Interesting. So, Tahki had gone to see Corvus, obviously, as Neko has left a bloom in my care, saying it belonged to Tahki. While they don't exactly belong to us...I understand what she meant. So...she bred with Talon it would seem. Hopefully, there's a chance for this feien and he or she will not be immediately dismissed. Perhaps it will be someone who can get along with Merrimack. He's been sulking ever since he left Miss Kitsune's, and hasn't really talked to me much since returning last night. He seems to have made a friend while there...a feien named Globin. This actually makes me feel quite at ease, as I never imagined him to trust anyone after his disappearance... It seems a lot of things have changed since I left.
RP that occured September 1, 2004: OOC note: Italics mean other side of the phone. "God damn it..." Karma cursed, unable to tear her eyes from the red and black bloom that sat unintrusively in front of her on the table. She thought she'd cooled off about it to the point of being able to spend a little quality time with the flower...to extend at least a bit of an olive branch about the whole ordeal.
She couldn't change it, after all, and it wasn't like this bloom -asked- to be born. But here it was. Another responsibility, another feien to keep track of, and one more headache to endure. At length, teeth gritted, she pushed away from the table and stalked across the kitchen, grabbing up the phone and punching in Neko's number.
Maybe Talon had gone back with Tahki and was there. For that matter, maybe she hadn't been the only one cursed with one of their offspring.Neko blankly stared at the two blooms sitting on the coffee table, eyeing the black and white one he'd touched yesterday warily. Twice he caught himself staring at the mushroom and contemplating eating the poor thing, but sheer will kept him from doing so as he sulked. His gold eyes had an irritant twitch, flinching for the past 30 minutes as he held the portable phone in one hand, and Karma's number in the other. His tail lashed from left to right behind him, ears drawn down in frustration as he tried to work up the nerve to call the other bonded. He barely managed not to throw one of his pots at Domonic this morning in a fit of anger and annoyance, so there was no saying what he might do if he called the foxcoon.
On one hand, dialing the number might calm his nerves enough to speak in a civil manner. However, the thought of Tahki possibly being there somehow made him livid, and it was hard not to just scream at the top of his lungs at the moment. Why the HELL did he have to get two of these damned things AGAIN, and did Karma even get one of these "gifts"? Sure, if it was all actually a joke, he'd feel like a fool for falling for it. But Gods be damned, no flower on this planet contained magic like that save for the feien.
With one last twitch, lash, and a soft sigh, Neko finally pressed the button to turn the phone one, and proceeded to dial the number written down without waiting for the dial-tone. Placing the receiver close enough to his right ear to hear, he listened for the ringing, still not calm. ...Wait a sec. It wasn't wringing.
"Why the ******** is the phone not ringing?" he asked more to himself than anything, unaware of the caller on the other side."The hell...?" Karma muttered, confused, wondering if there was a phone off the hook in her own home. She blinked then and decided to try just in case. "Neko?" she asked, quirking a brow. Had he honestly picked up just as she'd dialed?Neko's ears twitched slightly as he blinked a few times. ...Odd. Either she picked up fast or he did. "Karma?""....that was weird." she remarked, but...no matter. "I hope I'm not bugging you, just had a question for you." she said, narrowing her eyes and shooting the bloom on the table a glare."Funny, I have a question as well," he said, raising a brow. He watched the blooms like a hawk, as if expecting them to try and flee. "You first.""First of all, is Talon there?" she inquired, her hand tightening on the reciever. "Because if he is, he's in DEEP s**t with me about now..." her glare on the bloom was intensifying, making her see red as she forced her eyes away from it. If she got much angrier, she may damn well tear the thing apart.Talon? So, he wasn't there...meaning, Tahki wouldn't be there either.
"Well, that answers one of my questions," Neko grumbled, setting the paper with the number on it on the coffee table by the blooms before he started crumbling it up. He leaned back against the couch, grabbing a pillow and hugging it to himself for a moment. "No, he isn't here. I did a thourough (spelling...) check this time, and Tahki isn't here either."Karma sighed deeply and shook her head. "Then I guess you know what I'm going to ask next..." she growled, rubbing her temples with the hand that wasn't holding the phone. "Did YOU end up with any 'presents' left for you? Like...oh, I don't know...of the ******** bloom variety...??""If you tell me you only got one, there will be hell to pay," he said, his eyes twitching again. "The ******** things creeped up on me, I swear to the Gods. And like an idiot I had to touch one of the damned things. Four feien, Karma...I'm bonded to FOUR. Whose ******** BRILLIANT idea was this, anyway?""THEIRS, I guess!" she snarled. "God DAMN it, what the hell were they thinking?? Didn't ask, didn't even give it any thought, just ******** dropped what they were doing and decided they were going to go have kids? What the hell??" she collapsed back into a chair at her kitchen table, fuming."I thought maybe she'd been kidnapped somehow while I was gone, but noooooo," he growled, clenching tightly onto his pillow. "I wake up to see a mushroom and a flower on my counter. SO WHERE THE ******** ARE THEY NOW?! And here I'd thought my lecture actually WORKED.""Talon had BETTER be an adult right now, that's all I have to say." the foxcoon sighed, thudding her head down on the tabletop. "Because I swear to Christ, if he comes back here and he's still a kid with kids of his own---" she trailed off, making a sound of disgusted anger. "Three of them, then." she grumbled. "They can barely look after THEMSELVES, what the hell business do they have bringing three kids into the world?"Neko took a deep breath and exhaled it slowly. Gods...this was terrible. "Where the hell did we go wrong, Karma? Why can't they just listen to us?" he mumbled, his tail flicking a little bit."I don't know..." came the response. Good thing she didn't drink, or she'd be wanting one about now. "They drive me crazy, though. They sit there and nod and blow you off and act like they understand where you're coming from, then as soon as you're not looking, they go right back to it. They can't take your word for it that the stove might be hot, they HAVE to stick their goddamn hand on the burner. My two-year-old KIDS behave better than they do!"Neko closed his eyes for a moment, furrowing his brows and blowing his bangs out of his face as he leaned his head back. "They ******** up majorly this time. Did you get a bill with your bloom?" he asked out of curiosity, hoping he wasn't stuck with paying for it. Tahki was going to owe him for this one."No, not yet..." she sighed. "Guess I'll start watching the mail for one, though. ******** fairies...why don't they make them have to bring a signed release slip or something when they ask to breed?? It would make sense if they were going to drop their blooms on their bondmates to deal with afterward, the shop could at least make sure its all right with said bondmates first.""Yes...yes, something like that would have been REALLY nice. That way I could tell her she was being stupid before she goes to breed." Neko rubbed his eyes a little bit, trying to relieve some of the stress he felt. "Now I feel guilty... Here we are bitching, and we don't even know how much thought they'd actually put into this. I don't know about Talon, but Tahki forgets things easily and it's not completely her fault. It makes me wonder if I'm just being a whiner right now.""It just strikes me as odd, that's all...that Talon goes from being hellbent he never wants to have any kids -- or a MATE for that matter -- when he was younger. Then he meets Tahki and tosses the mate thing straight out the window. I'm wondering which one of them it was that decided kids would be a good idea." she paused, thinking on it for a minute "Or maybe they both did...maybe they were having problems. A relationship like theirs is pretty doomed with the age difference....maybe things were starting to fall apart and one of them got the ******** notion this would fix it."Neko twitched slightly. "I wouldn't blame the age difference, personally, given that I'm much older than only one I'd even think about dating. Maybe they'll fess up to this being a mistake whenever they return...""Still though....I don't know." she sighed. "At this point, who knows if they're even coming back. If Tahki's letting Talon lead this escapade, it might be weeks before we see them again. He'd be just as happy to never have to see any of us again, I'm sure." she felt her hackles rise at this and tears sting her eyes. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to drag anything personal into it. I know your relationship with Tahki is probably a lot better than mine is with Talon.""Perhaps," he sighed, opening his eyes a little bit to stare at the ceiling. "However, I know first hand what it's like to be hated by something you're raising yourself. Trust me...your relationship with him could be worse, and I know this first hand. Merri hated me the instant he saw me... At least Talon seems to tolerate you.""Very little." she grumbled, getting up from the table and meandering into the living room to sit in the armchair instead. Looking at the bloom was just making it worse. "What makes me the most angry about this is I feel like he did it to spite me. Like 'I finally made my own big decision and you can't do anything about it'. I wouldn't put it past him. But whatever...he's taking care of this kid, not me. He wanted to have it, he can get everything that comes with it too. And if he treats it the same way he treats Globin, I'm going to clip his wings, superglue a ******** pistachio shell to his face and sell him off as the world's ugliest parrot.""Mm. If he treats the bloom badly, I'll send Ares after him. The world's most intimidating feien mother, as well as the most experienced," he said, rolling his eyes a little. "I'm sure Tahki wouldn't tolerate that, as well. So don't worry...you won't be the only one hounding him.""Good." she said, sagging into the chair and smoothing her hair back. "All right...well...I don't want to keep you or anything. I just wanted to know if you were in as bad of straits as I was. Sounds like you got it worse, so I really have no room to be bitching here...""Oh, but feel free to do so all you want. So long as I'm not the only one 'suffering' here, I guess," he blinked, finally sitting upright. "Just hope they return VERY soon.""Likewise. But if they have any brains at all, they'll wait until we've calmed down a little more. I'm going to be pissed whenever he comes back, honestly, but....rrgh. You don't know how close I am to buying a new flyswatter." she paused then. "I'm trying to be okay with it, because there's nothing we can do about it now...but its going to take longer than I thought, I guess""It'll definitely take a little bit of time," Neko agreed, his ears flicking a little. His eyes glanced over to the clock on the wall, checking the time. "Come to think of it, I actually do need to go. I intend on giving this shroom to a friend of mine, and I want to see if I can catch her today so I'm not stuck watching it for too long.""All right." Karma said, grunting a bit as she stood again to go recradle the phone when their conversation ended. "Guess....I'll be in touch, then. If you see Talon, do me a favor and catch him in whatever canister is handy and mail him third-class back home?"Neko smirked a little bit, standing up to find Rhia's number. "Will do. Good luck, Karma.""You too, Neko. Later." Saying so, she hung up the phone and looked grudgingly back at the table and the bloom on it. She still didn't feel any better, though she wasn't quite as mad now. "All right, you...." she muttered at last, plucking up the flower and carrying it into the other room. "Back onto the air conditioner. Let's hope you aren't as much of a stonehead as your father."
RP that occured September 1, 2004: Talon, upon hearing Neko returning to hang up the phone, flitted from where he'd roosted to eavesdrop on the conversation back up to where Tahki was currently hiding on top of the fridge, likewise listening to what they had to say. They'd decided it would be less obvious if they were in different places than if they'd hidden together. Well....they'd taken THAT a lot harder than he'd thought they were going to...
"Did you hear that...?" he questioned in a whisper, folding his wings and ducking low and out of sight so he wouldn't be noticed should someone happen by.Tahki sat up a little bit from on top of the refrigerator, having been laying down. Her wings were draw close to her body in an attemt to keep them from being spotted, a couple of feathers resting around her. She looked rather disappointed, given what she'd heard, and began to wonder if what they'd done was such a good idea. At least Neko seemed to be giving her the benefit of the doubt, even if he was still angry over the issue.
"What do we do, Talon...?" she asked quietly, trying hard not to speak too loud. "They don't sound too happy..."Talonfaust's eyes narrowed a little in thought and then he shrugged. "I'd think coming back right now isn't much of a good idea. Not that we expected them to just be all right with it, but I don't want to get bitched at any more than we have to."
He sighed a bit, reaching out to absently stroke one of Tahki's wings comfortingly. "So I suppose we find someplace they wouldn't think to look and stay there for a day or so. We'll try them again later. They can't stay angry forever, Tahki."Tahki looked back to her bonded for a moment, looking rather sad. She hated making anyone upset, and this just made things worse. However, Talon had a point. They couldn't stay mad forever... They'd have to let up sometime, right? But when would that be?
"Where can we go, though?" she asked softly, sighing lightly. "There's no where here we can stay without Neko finding us. We're lucky he hasn't caught us now as it is.""I don't know" the earth feien sighed, groaning a little and sounding like he had a headache. Gods, they were just fighting this every step of the way, weren't they? First they weren't allowed to see each other. Then Corvus had given them a hard time about having blooms. Now their bonds were going to give them a hard time about coming out of hiding.
He sat for a moment more, watching Neko, waiting until he'd hung up the phone and left again. "Come on. Before we go -anywhere-, I need to stop by the room and pick up a few things." he whispered, getting up and flitting off of the fridge toward the open kitchen window.Tahki's ears perked up slightly as she checked to make sure Neko was gone before crawling toward the edge of the fridge and taking flight, gliding out the window after Talon.
"The room?" she asked curiously, wondering if he meant the one upstairs."Back at Karma's" he told her over his shoulder as they flew. "I don't know exactly where we plan on ending up, but I'm not going anywhere until I have my rapier and tail."
It wasn't that he worried they would run into danger, so much as he knew there was that possibility, and frankly he'd been feeling vulnerable without them. He'd forgotten to grab them when he'd stopped to drop off the bloom with Karma and had been cursing himself for it ever since.Tahki fluttered up next to him, and in an effort to comfort him and herself, she proceeded to cling lightly onto his arm. She closed her eyes for a moment, allowing Talon and her own magic to guide her along in the air, as she thought about what might happen when she did return. She knew she wouldn't be able to stay gone for too much longer, because worrying Neko was the last thing she'd wanted to do. Hopefully the lecture she would get later wouldn't be too bad, and the thought of Ares being possibly angry with her also scared her. What if this wasn't such a good idea? No...it had to be. She wanted it, and now that's it was done, she was happy. Hopefully, Talon was really happy, as well.Talon looked to Tahki as she clung onto his arm and crooked his own to let her know that her touch wasn't unwelcome. "Don't worry yourself." he told her gently. "It can't be undone, they know it, there's little they can do except get used to it. Even if we'd asked and they'd said no, there's little they could have done to stop it if it was something we wanted, Tahki."Tahki whimpered softly, nuzzling her cheek against his shoulder. "I know..." she sighed, opening her yellow eyes to look up at him as she frowned. "I just don't like seeing or knowing that they're upset, though. I like seeing them happy!""They'll get over it." he assured her, pulling his arm out of her grasp and putting it around her waist below her wings, flapping a bit harder to keep up with the shift in balance. "Its..." he tried to think of a good thing to compare it to. "Its like when Karma found out she was carrying Youko's children. Everyone was angry at everyone else for awhile, then when they were born, it was all forgotten and they went back to being a working family. Maybe it'll be the same thing for us and our bonds."Tahki thought about that for a moment, slipping her arms around Talon carefully and clinging to him. She didn't know anything about what he'd explained, given that there weren't any children within the house and Neko avoided the neighbors like the pleague. Would it be the same thing? After all, from the sounds of it, the children Karma had weren't exactly PLANNED, and this situation was no accident. She decided to take his word for it, however, finding him to know more about it.
"I hope they'll be okay soon, then," the cold feien said, ruffling her feathers a little bit. "And, I hope you're right."Talon banked downward as they neared Karma's home, holding Tahki a bit tighter. "I know that Karma, at least, doesn't stay angry long. She'll be moreso angry that we didn't ask than she will be about having another feien...so if worse comes to worst and Neko is angrier than either of us thought, you're welcome to stay with me for a bit."
He looked over at her then, his green eyes calm, despite the scathing phone call they'd just listened in on. "But I'm sure things will be fine, Tahki. Nobody is going to hate you for wanting to be a mother."Tahki blinked a few times, blushing slightly. Again, he had a point. The only one that HAD ragged on her over the issue was Corvus, but that couldn't be helped. From stories she'd heard, he didn't like anyone much so it wasn't too big of a surprise if he actually did hate her. What would everyone think, though, when they did meet her children...?
"Thank you..." she whispered softly, instinctively cuddling closer to him.He momentarily wrapped one white wing around her in as much of a hug as he could give her in mid-air as they neared the ground, before quickly withdrawing it and righting his balance as they neared the backyard and then the guest room windowsill. The window, thankfully, was still open.
He disengaged from Tahki and then peered through the glass, his eyes scanning the room to ensure it was empty before he began to edge himself in through the small gap between the sill and the pane. "I shouldn't be long, love." he assured her, grunting a bit as he got momentarily stuck and then slipped the rest of the way under. "You can come if you'd like, though."That last comment was said a bit too late. Already, Tahki had squeezed her way into the room, and had begun to inspect the windowsill. Didn't the big bird live somewhere around here? It had been a long time since she'd seen it, and wanted to make sure it was okay with Talon being gone for so long.He quirked a brow at Tahki, wondering what she was looking for and then looking at the now-empty bonzai pot. "Watchweyr's out on the patio now" he informed her in case that might be it. "Karma finally got sick of listening to her screech in the mornings and told me either I find another place to keep her or I let her go."
He shook his head disdainfully and then fluttered off of the sill to the guest bed, and from there to the floor beside where there was bedside table with an inch-wide gap beneath it he contemplated a moment before going about the motions of slipping into.Tahki frowned slightly at the news, folding her hands behind her back as she stopped searching and just began to look around the room. Poor birdie... Hers was at least still able to stay inside. Noticing Talon seeming to disappear near the bed, she grew a bit curious, wondering where'd he'd gone. Did the shadows eat him up? ...Was he going to come back? No, no... He went under something, didn't he? Stepping over to the edge of the windowsill, the cold feien fluttered down to the floor, drawing her wings close to her back as she waited.There were rummaging sounds from beneath the bedside table, and a moment later, Talon's head and shoulders emerged from beneath the piece of furniture as he heard her land nearby. A dust kitty was clinging to his cowlick, unbeknownst to him as he looked up at her, seeming to contemplate, and then motioned her forward with one hand.
"You can come under if you want...I've never shown anyone this before, actually." he said cryptically before withdrawing back under the nightstand and out of sight, continuing to try and find his rapier.Tahki couldn't help but giggle a little bit at the dust in his hair before stepping forward, leaning down to peer into the the make-shift cave-like hole the table created against the ground. It seemed a little dark, but enough light emitted from where she was standing outside so that she could see. If it was a private place for him, she didn't really want to intrude, but she was too curious NOT to go inside. Laying down on the floor, she crawled under the nightstand, flattening her wings the best that she could, and sat up a little bit once she was underneath.Underneath, the nightstand opened into a small cavity with a four-inch tall allowance for headroom. It was cramped, but just barely big enough that Talon could stand in it if he crouched, which he currently was as he searched a nearby pile of things fruitlessly, muttering at himself angrily for misplacing his damn weapons.
The walls, floor, and even part of the ceiling were crammed with shiny objects of all shapes and sizes that he'd collected since discovering this hiding place shortly after Globin's arrival. There were coins, bits of foil, glitter, some of Watchweyr's glossier feathers, gems, all manner of pirated earrings and bracelets that Karma never wore and had yet to miss, spare keys, marbles, and gods-knew-what-else.Tahki's eyes just seemed to light up as she noticed the faint glitter of the shiny objects, carefully crawling toward a ring she saw in the corner. Seating herself on the floor so she wouldn't be too much in the way, she picked up the cold metal ring, examining the bright stone that adorned the golden circle. So pretty!! Neko had a few items similar to this, but they were locked away in his room after finding out Tahki's slight obsession with glittery things. So brilliant... Even in the pale light, the cold feien was mesmorized by how it glistened, her yellow eyes closing halfway as she smiled happily to herself. She'd almost forgotten that Talon had liked these sort of things, but in a bit of a different fashion than she did.Talon looked over his shoulder at her, watching her admire the ring, and, at length, allowing himself to smile. "I'm surprised, actually, someone hasn't found this place yet." he said conversationally, tossing aside a few sequins and once again not finding his rapier. Hmf...oh well. "I keep waiting for the day Karma moves this damn table and I get an earful about it..."
Deciding to abandon the search for a moment, he approached and knelt behind her, likewise admiring the ring, though moreso admiring Tahki's reflection in the center garnet as he put a hand on either of her shoulders.Tahki's ears twitched slightly as he put his hands on her shoulders, and she leaned back just enough so that when she leaned her head back, she could look at him. Smiling up at him, she held the ring up a little bit.
"It's a very nice collection," she giggled, looking back to the red stone. "It's really pretty, and it kind of reminds me of all the crystals and glass that Tempest had. She had a whole room full of shinies! Like...like a big room! When I was there, I kept thinking it would be nice to be able to show you... But I haven't been able to go back 'cause Neko doesn't want me to go without him, and he was all stressed about..."
Tahki's voice trailed off as she sighed lightly, lowering the ring carefully back to the floor and letting it go. What if she'd made things worse for her bond by breeding with Talon? What if this caused him to need to wait even longer for that trip he wanted to go on? Looking back to Talon, she wasn't able to manage her usual smile.
"Couldn't find it?" she asked curiously, wondering if he'd given up on his search.He shook his head, a bit perturbed by her slip in expression. The whole point of bringing her under here in the first place had been to try and make her feel better from the turbulant mood she'd been in on the flight over and...honestly, seemed to have been in ever since their breeding.
"It'll wait." he replied disinterestedly as he placed a hand on her cheek, tilting her head up gently until her eyes met his. "I know you're still upset." he told her, sighing a little in concerned frustration. "And I know -why- you're upset, I guess what I want to know is, how can I make it better, Tahki...? I--I should be doing -something- for you to help..."Tahki's expression wavered again for a moment, turning her eyes to the left. She didn't mean to be upset, nor did she want to worry him. However, the idea of upsetting her bond was what kept her feeling down, and she wasn't even sure if there COULD be closure to that awful feeling. Finally, she lifted a hand and placed it gently over Talon's, turning herself around so that she could actually face him as she looked at him.
"I don't really know, Talon..." she replied softly, offering a bit of a sad smile. "I keep thinking back to Neko, and how upset he is. I'm really sorry...I don't mean to be this way, honest! I... I just... It does help that you're here, though. I don't know if I could face him right now, so time away should be good, right? Just.... Just the two of us..."He nodded once. "Right. Just the two of us." he agreed. The hand on her cheek strayed up to stroke her hair comfortingly as he drew her close with his free arm, hugging her tightly.
"Everybody gets upset, but at least he's getting it all out now....that means he won't be bottling it up and exploding over it later." he murmured. "And I think we've seen the worst of it...maybe he's yelling now so he -won't- yell when you get back"The cold feien wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug for a moment before she loosened up a little, nuzzling her head into his chest softly as she closed her eyes. Maybe he was right. Maybe Neko was just yelling now so that he wouldn't scream at her when she did return. If only that thought would just go away... She was fine when distracted, but the minute her mind wanted back to the thought of an angry bond...
"What do we do now, though, Talon?"Good question, what DID they do now? He wasn't going anywhere until he found his rapier at the least. That much he was firm on. And...frankly, he had no idea where they'd go even after he found his weapons. The woods were an automatic no...not after the last two times he'd ventured into them -- once to find Tahki and once to find his circlet.
And he didn't especially want to inflict himself on any of their friends....
"Don't know..." he said at length, sighing and looking down at her. Poor girl...seemed like ever since he'd gotten involved with her, he'd brought her into one mess of trouble after another, yet still she'd stayed with him. Not everyone would have done that...he was sure, in fact, that there were very few who would.
Feeling lucky suddenly to have her here with him, and acting on impulse, he drew away from her, caught her face gently between his hands and leaned in, kissing her deeply."Mm??" Tahki's yellow eyes grew wide for a moment, rather surprised by the sudden action, bringing one hand toward her to rest lightly on his arm. Of course, she really didn't mind because she LIKED doing things like this, finding herself kissing him back all the same. After all, it was a distraction... and a good one at that.Talon held the kiss for a long moment, one hand sliding further up on her cheek to trace the outline of her left ear absently before, somewhat breathlessly, he broke away again, green eyes glimmering in the dim light as he gazed at her adoringly.
"You mean the world to me, you know..." he whispered, leaning in to nuzzle her forehead. "...and that you chose me."Tahki blinked a few times before she smiled a little bit, closing her eyes. "I'm... I'm glad you put up with me, Talon," she said softly, blushing slightly as her ear twitched a little bit from being touched. "Your friendship meant a lot to me before, and now your love means even more. And, you've always been so nice to me..."
Why was it that now, when she could speak her mind without anyone saying anything, she couldn't? Opening her eyes again, she smiled. "I know I don't really know a lot of things, and I might not make the best choices, but... I know that I love you, and I'll never regret that.""And I love you..." he answered, his voice catching in his throat a bit. He wondered if he'd ever get used to hearing someone speak that fondly of him as Tahki just had. And...he wondered if it really mattered as long as he had one person who cared for him that deeply.
He leaned in to kiss her again, the arm around her shifting slightly upward as his hand pressed between her wings, doing nothing more for the moment except supporting her.Tahki blushed a little more at the feel of his hand against her back, her wings fidgetting a little bit. Shifting her arms again, she rested her hands softly against the back of his neck, her thumbs idly brushing against the base of his ears as she kissed him lightly on the lips.Talon's wings tensed a bit at her touch, feeling something in his chest tighten as his heartbeat quickened. Murring softly against her mouth, his hand found the base of one feathery wing and squeezed. Had this been what everyone had been trying to keep from happening when he'd yet to grow up, he wondered hazily?She gasped softly against his lips, her small eyes opening as her wings spread out a little bit, one of them smacking against the wall (though not harmfully). That...was an odd reflex. Though, a rather nice feeling as she remembered him doing that once or twice before when he was smaller. She blushed a bit out of embarressment, wondering if that kind of reaction was bad.His hand explored the base of her wing gently for a moment more even as he drew back enough to speak to her, sounding not completely there. "What--What do you say to just staying here for the night...?" he asked, brushing his lips over her cheek. He didn't especially want to go anywhere anymore and he doubted they would be discovered.Tahki bit her lip softly as Talon continued to play with her wings a little bit, exhaling a shaky breath. Goodness... This felt a lot different now that Talon was bigger.
"Anywhere is fine with me... So long as I'm with you, I'm happy," she whispered quietly, not even sure if she could speak any louder at the moment.At her words, Talon gathered her tightly against him, lifting her, and then leaned her back carefully against one of the smaller piles of shiny objects. Though he hadn't had it in mind at the time he did it, immediately afterward, it struck him as oddly appropriate. Hadn't it been her shiny feathers that had caught his attention in the first place about her? And now she was here among his vast collection of other sparkly objects too....
"Let's stay, then..." he murmured, planting a kiss softly beneath each of her eyes before taking the lobe of her ear between his teeth and nipping gently. He wasn't quite sure what had him in its grip at the moment, but he was in no hurry for it to leave as his heart hammered in his chest...and was only too happy to let it help him serve his purpose in making her feel better.
September 1, 2004 Okay... I feel slightly better now, knowing that I'm not the only one who got blooms. Unfortunately, Karma only received one... No matter, this other one WILL go to a friend of mine, just because I'm a b***h like that. Since I already touched the black and white one, I'll give her the mu--...I think I've said all of this before. Now that all of my frustrations and anger have been released upon a poor pillow, I have to say that above all else, I'm more worried and stressed than angry right now. Tahki hasn't come back yet, and I haven't seen any sign of her save for the blooms. So, at least I know she's alive, but... Damn it, WHERE THE ******** IS SHE??? Ares says I shouldn't worry too much about it, that she's probably with Talon and is fine. I want to believe that... I really do. However, the last time I believed she was fine was when she tried to go see Tempest by herself, and I found her with a broken arm. Gods... I really hate this. Not...what happened, but just the fact that I can't seem to keep track of my feien. Am I terrible bond...? Have I done something so wrong to make them disappear on me all at once? ...Shut up, Merri, I've never once even raised my voice at you. ...What? You think that's why Ta--HEY! ARG...brat. I did NOT make her run away, you little... ...But what if I did? What if somehow, though all of this, it's actually MY fault that Tahki's gone right now? Have I been too hard on her? ...Or have I been biased this whole time...? It's true that I've never really had any problems with Ares. Nor, have I had too many problems with Merri, despite the fact that I'd never meant any harm toward him and he's scared of me. But then again, Ares and Merri have never once done some of the things Tahki's doing. Ares didn't constantly knock things over, fly around recklessly without paying attention, or sneak out at night without my knowing. Ares...also never really acted much like a child, and neither did Merri. Maybe someone up there is testing me. Maybe I need to get used to behavior like this for some reason unknown to me. Whatever it is, it SUCKS. I love Tahki... I love her just as much as I do the other two, and will end up loving this bloom all the same. So... why am I so much harder on her than I am on the others? Perhaps this is what they mean by "tough love"...
(September 3, 2004)Merrimack warily stared down at the bloom that had been set before him, Tahki and Ares being literally forced to take a break for a day by Neko dragging them out shopping. The pixas had been officially dealt with, most of them actually being spread out to different parts of the room since they were about the size of mice, Winter and Lora sitting at his feet, sniffing at the flower. Tahki had tried to place the bloom in the refrigerator yesterday, but Neko made her promise not to do any other experiments. This one would grow naturally...it would only be in the company of the feien, demons, elf and human that lived within the house. Why? Because Neko didn't want another Tahki, nor another Merrimack. So why...the HELL...was the bloom placed under HIS care for the day?? " Hmph. Well..." he finally sighed, crouching down to pick up Lora before she stepped any closer to the bloom and trample it blindly, " What do you think we should do with it?" " Why don't you read it a story?" Winter suggested, peering up at her owner fondly. " I rather love hearing those plays you used to read. It was also wonderful to watch you and Glo--...er, forgive me. It just came out." Merrimack's expression changed into a rather sad one at the mention of Globin's name. It had been less than a week, and he was still rather depressed leaving his friend behind. His two pixas had been trying hard to keep him happy, to keep him occupied, but everything was the same: with all of their efforts, the only thing Winter and Lora reminded him of was Globin and Shalafi. " It's....it's all right Winter. I know you mean well," he sighed softly, standing up to his full height with the small white pixa in his arms. Lora curled up a little bit, rolling over onto her back so that she could pat at the air with her paws. Carefully, Merrimack reached his hand over to gently scratch her stomach and chin with his index finger. Winter smiled her kitten smile, finding it rather interesting that he'd show so much care for the blind cat. Jealousy was quickly placed aside upon finding out about the handicap when she first met Lora. " Listen...I'll tell the child a story. Why don't you two head on downstairs? There's something Neko wanted to give you the other day, but he'd gotten so caught up with this arrival that he forgot. Talk to Sora...she'll get it out for you." The tall feien blinked a few times, glancing down at the older pixa. Something...from Neko? What could that demon possibly give him that he'd want, much less enjoy? Well...perhaps he'd give him a chance. Nodding a little bit, Merrimack allowed himself a slight smile. " Okay, Lora...we're going to fly a little bit," he said quietly, stretching out his wings as he lifted himself into the air a little slowly. The kitten purred softly in response, squirming a little bit to roll over again as Merrimack floated out of the room. Clover eyed the two warily, making no effort to pounce at the feien as she stayed in her curled up position, reluctant to move even a muscle. Merrimack's glare alone was rather intimidating to her as he floated toward the stairs, and Neko had whispered about the once weak and scared feien to now be just as might and strong with his new size. The bigger the prey, the worse they are, he'd said. She wasn't about to test that theory...especially after trying to attack one of the cerebrus pups. " Sora!" Merrimack called upon reaching the bottom of the stairs. " Sora??" " I'm over here, Merri," the half elf called from the kitchen, immediately recognizing the voice. " What can I do for you?" The memory feien hesitated for a moment before flutter over toward the couch, landing on the back for a moment. " Winter said...that Neko had something for me?" Sora carefully set the knife she was holding down, stopping for a moment to speak with the feien. " Actually, yes. I'm not sure if he wanted to give it to you himself, but I'm sure it'll be all right if you get it now," she said softly, looking over her shoulder. She pushed aside a little of her black bangs. " Wait right there. I'll be back in a moment." With that, the elf disappeared to the opposite side of the kitchen. A door could be heard opening, and the soft thumping of feet against stairs, followed by silence. It ended quickly however as the steps returned, and Sora turned the corner with a small box in her hands. Walking over to the coffee table, she carefully placed the package down, smiling slightly before taking a few steps back, folding her dainty hands behind her back. " He wanted to give this to you when you came back. He must have forgotten..." Taking wing, Merrimack landed gently near the gift, carefully setting Lora down on the smooth wooden surface. " Stay there," he whispered quietly before stepping over to the box, inspecting it with his three orange eyes. Looking to the half elf for a moment, she only smiled as he seemed to just question the object. " Go on...open it." Warily, the feien complied, struggling slightly to lift the top of the gift box open. Pushing it aside, he peered into the box cautiously, immediately overcome with awe. This gift...it wasn't anything ordinary. Leaning down, he once again struggled to lift what was inside; carefully and gently, Merrimack had pulled out what seemed to be a feien-sized cello. " B-b-but... HOW?!" was all he could say as he inspected the craftsmanship, drawing out the small and short bow that was also inside the box. It was so tiny! It was...it was nearly PERFECT! " While you were gone, Neko worked very hard on making that himself," Sora explained, turning to return to the kitchen. " No one would make such an instrument so small, so he had to try himself. It took him quite some time, and...more than several tries, but he was finally satisfied with that one. He even had enough patience to write out one of those songs you enjoyed so much...of course, Ares helped with that part." Gently setting the cello down, Merrimack fished out the sheets of paper that were also in the box. Sure enough, delicate black lines and notes covered the page, the graceful writing of the title at the top: Pachelbel, Canon in D major. One of his favorite pieces... Glancing around for a moment, the memory feien glanced around for something to sit on, deciding the box would do for a bench seat. Managing to turn the now empty container upside down, he quickly sat down, arranging the music on the coffee table so that he could see them. Neko had explained the notes a long time ago... perhaps he could still remember, combined with watching the concerts on the television sometimes. Taking up the cello and his bow, he took on what he thought would be the proper position, carefully gliding the bow along the C string. He didn't even know if it was in tune... He didn't even know if he was doing any of this right. All he knew is that, whether he was right or wrong, he just wanted to start practicing.
September 4, 2004 The past few days have been a little quiet lately. Perhaps...a little too quiet. Well, until yesterday, but still. Tahki is officially back home, and helping Ares take care of the bloom that she dropped off. I really need to get this mushroom to my friend...I fear it'll bond to me before I can do that. She hasn't been home... and normally, I'd just leave it on her porch for her to investigate, but given its shape, I'm afraid she'll try to eat it. sweatdrop The bloom, by the way, seems to be fine, unlike the last two I had. Ares and Tahki both try not to give it TOO much attention, but just enough for it to feel safe and...well...not alone. I can't say that Merri likes the thing...he's already made it quite clear that he hates/despises the poor bloom with a passion. ...There's one in every family I guess. Merri has found something to preoccupy his mind, however. Over the course of the two weeks he was gone, I'd managed to make a suitable gift for him: a feien-sized cello. That...was a b***h and I hope I never have to do it again. I messed up at least 5 or 6 times, both on the cello itself AND on the bow, and when I made the original "final" product, Domonic accidentally dropped it. Needless to say...I wasn't a happy kitty after that one. stare But since I finally figured out how it was made, it wasn't too hard to make the one Merri has now. I taught him how to play last night after coming home...it wasn't too hard, and he picked it up very quickly. To be honest, I've never seen him so excited about anything in the three months he's been alive. He was nervous...he felt undeserving...but he did, for the first time that I can remember, tell me 'thank you'. That alone made all of my work worthwhile, and I'm happy that he's happy with it. ~~~~~~~~~~Tahki This is hard...really really hard! I'm trying to remember what Corvus said about not being a mother or something, but it's hard not to. I want to take care of it! I wanna watch over it! I want the bloom to call me mommy...
Neko said he was surprised with how well I'm taking all of this. He says I might be learning good patience, and that makes me happy! I wanna try to focus more since I'll be having much more responsibility, and I think I've been doing better especially after having to take care of all those pixas when they were all tiny! They're much bigger now, and Neko's even moved some of them to care for himself. It's a little quiet, but that's okay! Makes it easier for Merri to practice!
It's so cool! Merri got something called a cello! It's...kinda boring, but it makes pretty music! Merri's learning how to play Pa...paco...that song he likes so much. I think he's doing pretty good! At least he's not sulking like Ares said he'd been doing... He seems to miss Globin. I feel bad...I haven't talked to him since he arrived! Maybe I could go there and visit soon...I bet he'll wanna see the bloom, too!
~~~~~~~~~~
Merrimack Amazing. Absolutely amazing. I've been practicing the cello for about a day now... Neko taught me how to play and read the notes last night. It's a little tiring, and lugging this thing up and down the stairs isn't exactly my idea of fun (especially with how heavy it feels to me), but for the sake of practice I'll deal with it.
I think I've gotten a good portion of Pachelbel down, nearly memorizing it. I can play at least the first page without any problems, and I'm sure within a week’s time, I'll have learned the entire piece, if I haven't memorized it by that time. This is wonderful... I wonder what Globin will think?
...I suppose it's funny how I'm always reminding myself of him. I was reading Shakespeare the other day, and even that was bringing my spirits down as I remembered the two of us acting out the play. I couldn't even read The Labyrinth without nearly breaking down and just crying. I know that mother and Tahki are around, but...I still feel lonely. Even Winter (and now Lora) can't fill this void that has seemed to open up. I was there for perhaps two or three weeks time...and suddenly, it feels as if I've died upon returning to my own home. I miss him...and to be completely honest, I think those weeks I spent with him had to have been the best and most precious time I've ever had in my life, no matter how short it has been. I need to visit him... I want to see him again. Him, and Banana Tango, the feien I'd met while I was staying with him. (She was interesting...and she made me laugh.)
...And to be completely honest, I think I can safely say that Globin is, indeed, my friend...and that he was more than earned my seemingly forbidden trust. He's damn well deserved it...

Event #10: Bloody Hell?? Neko's harmful dream and the questioning traiter. "Where are you going?"Away from here..."Why? Why are you leaving?"I need to go... If I stay here, something terrible will happen."Something terrible has already happened."What? What happened?"...You died."
Neko's eyes slowly blinked open, a bright light shining from above. What was that...? Where was he? No, something felt different. Where was she...? Sitting up slowly, the demon hanyou lifted a heavy left hand to her chest, almost squeezing herself just to be sure it wasn't a dream. They were indeed there...somehow, she'd transformed back into a woman. So, why did she feel like she'd just been run over about 100 times by a semi?
Her breath was heavy, pain shooting throughout her entire body as she tried to stand, wincing and hissing lightly on the way up. Hunched over and hardly stable, her hand clenched tightly onto her shirt as if to hold it closed. Neko realized something else was wrong as he gold eyes stared in disbelief toward where she'd just been laying down. Blood covered the floor...and now, the crimson liquid was drenching her hand. Her right arm, which hung limply by her side, felt wet. Glancing to her fingers, she noticed the dark blood trickling down her slightly curled fingers, and dripping down into the growing puddle on the floor.
"What the hell is this?" she finally asked aloud, her voice raspy and whispered. Her tattered ears drew back as she was answered by silence, her broken tail unable to move. "What's wrong with me...?"
Once again, her eyes fell back down to the large body of blood on the ground, the crimson color still widening. It was soon coming some sort of red sea, with Neko standing over it. For a moment, she began to study her reflection, noting her wounds. Her left eye was closed, blood spilling down from her forehead and washing over it, a little dripping down from her matted red hair. Her lips were cut, nose broken, and across her right cheek was a deep slice running from one end to the other. Her clothes were ripped and torn, battered badly as if she were just getting out of a fight. Her right sleeve was gone, and it made sense to her now why she held her shirt closed. Neko's black pants hardly seemed like they even really fit her, being very loose around the waist and shredded in several places, the bottom of one leg missing and revealing her battered boot while the other covered her bare foot.
"What happened...?" Neko tried to ask again, red trickling down her lips as she opened her mouth to speak. She coughed hard a very times, spitting out more blood. "What the hell happened to me?"
"...You died."
In an instant, everything seemed to change, the sea of blood swallowing the demon hanyou in one foul swoop. For a moment, Neko fell in silence, her eyes closed tight as darkness surrounded her. Then, she stopped; both her body and the pain, and she dared to open her eyes once more. The wetness of blood she'd felt was gone, and she seemed to have been restored. For a moment longer, she floated in the air before "landing" on her feet.
"Where am I now?" Neko asked quietly, her ears perking up a little bit."Where else would you be?" the wind seemed to ask, whispering through the darkness.
"I don’t understand… What’s happening to me?" she called again, irritated by the riddles. "WHERE THE HELL AM I?!""Neko, wake up..." the wind answered louder. "Please, wake up." I am awake..."Wake up..." Am I not?"Neko..." Neko coughed a little bit before choking a little bit, quickly rolling onto his side as he hacked up blood. Grasping his throat, the demon hanyou painfully looked over the edge of the bed. A dream... It had all been a dream. But, it felt so real... Domonic gently placed a hand on Neko’s shoulder, a worried look on his face. The blond haired man had been trying to wake his partner for close to the last hour, when he noticed that the other had been coughing up blood. Once again, Neko had gotten a fever, and he'd done everything he could do to try and keep it down. He sighed softly with relief, running a hand through his short hair. "I thought you might not come back for a minute there..." he said a bit shakily, his blue eyes closing for a moment. "It seems...the dreams are getting worse." Neko glanced tiredly up at Domonic, flicking his tail a little bit. His body ached all over, and it wasn't exactly a good feeling. He shivered a little bit, the cool air making his sweat turn cold as the fever seemed to break, just like the last time. How strange... Ever since he'd transformed, murmurs and nightmares made it through to his mind, allowing him to grow weak. It was as if something was purposefully letting his guard down. Or rather...someone. Mustering up what strength he had left, the demon hanyou did his best to sit up, smacking away Domonic's hand as the other attempted to help. Weakness... While he didn't want to admit it, Neko knew well enough what was happening, and why his defenses were down. He'd always felt safe around the other man, like he didn't need to protect himself anymore. He trusted him possibly more than he trusted himself. Domonic was becoming his weakness. Domonic raised a brow as his hand was batted away, looking rather helpless for a moment as Neko sat up on his own. "Are you all right?" he finally asked curiously, lifting a hand to touch the other's face. He was a bit surprised as Neko batted the hand away again, hesitant before placing his arm back to his side. His partner leaned against the wall carefully, his gold eyes closed as his bangs clung to and hung over his face. Weakness was a terrible thing in Neko's eyes, and was the one thing that had almost killed him twice. Weakness was what had made him go insane all those years ago... What had made him turn to darkness... "Don't touch me," he whispered quietly, taking a few deep breaths as he hung his head. "Just...leave me alone." "Neko, if something's wrong, let me know. I just want t--" Again, Domonic had lifted a hand to place it on Neko's shoulder, but tan fingers quickly wrapped themselves around the other's wrist, squeezing tight with anger and frustration. " Don't...touch me." Domonic winced slightly before giving up, forcing his wrist from Neko's grasp before reluctantly standing up. For a moment he merely stared at his lover, rather hurt by the sudden actions, but in a way could understand why he did them. The demon was under a lot of stress at the moment, especially since they would be leaving in a few days. Turning his blue eyes to the door, he finally stepped away from the bed, starting to leave. "I'll...be downstairs if you need me," he called as he stepped into the hallway. Turning around, Domonic looked back to Neko for a moment before quietly closing the door. Feel better, love... he thought to himself before heading down the stairs. Neko's shoulders heaved slightly for a moment before he lifted his arm to wipe his lips, the copper taste of blood still in his mouth. That wasn't what mattered to him at the moment, however. Drawing up his knees, the demon hanyou buried his head in them as he hugged his legs, grasping onto his elbows as he began to weep silently. Love had a funny way of betraying him...

September 8, 2004 Have you ever tried to explain to a child why you shouldn't do certain things when you're young? Or have you tried to explain that when you're mad at someone, it doesn't mean that you hate them? What about trying to tell them that your dreams are killing you from the inside out, and you don't know how to stop it? I bet none of that makes sense... Because it doesn't to me. Except for that last part... My dreams are getting worse, and I don't know why. I was coughing up blood with my fever this time, and Domonic apparently had been trying to wake me for about an hour. Why the ******** is this happening to me? Who the hell is responsible for all of this? ...Why do I keep getting so worked up over it...? Domonic's avoided me most of the day due to my outburst last night. Honestly, I hardly remember anything I did much less said after I awoke, because it was all red. I know, that doesn't make much sense, but I'm being serious when I say that. All I saw was red when I opened my eyes, and something felt like it was tearing me up inside. Maybe all this stress really is making me insane... ~~~~~~~~~~Tahki Mushroom mushroom...okay, I'm done.
The blooms seem to be doing okay, and that makes me happy because I was worried we might be doing a bad job! Even the pixas are being nice and not trampling them when trying to get food and stuff. Merick is a little wary of the mushroom, but I like it! I kinda wish Neko had decided to keep that one instead, but I like the black and white one, too. It reminds me of Talon! ...I miss Talon. I wonder if the other bloom has arrived yet?
Merri looks happy! He got to see Globin yesterday, so he feels a lot better and stuff, and that makes me happy that he's happy! I kinda wish I could see Globin again because he seemed really nice, but Talon had gotten so upset that one day and it makes me wonder if it's such a good idea. But but but I wanna know what makes Merri to happy to see him! Ah well, maybe it's kinda like how I was when I first met Talon. Oooo, does Merri like Globin????
Ares looks a little sad. I dunno why, though! She says she wants to visit Arturo and Tosten, and Nero and Ruya. Hmmm...hm....I wish I could help! I don't think there's anything I can do myself, though. Neko told me I shouldn't go anywhere for too long since the blooms are my responsibility. Okay then, I'll wait! Maybe after they arrive I can go help.
I miss the shop! I miss the feien I don't get to see anymore! I MISS GOING OUT AND
Gem!
