Pagetos Just thought I'd share the online kanji dictionary that I use. Heh, I really need it since I only know like the first 80 kanji and I'm working on the 2nd grade level... sweatdrop sweatdrop sweatdrop sweatdrop Kiki's Kanji Dictionary! Thanks, I will look at that, because I'm learning kanji too, and they're a nightmare! They just don't stay in my head. I learnt all the kana in a fortnight, but I can hardly learn any kanji in that time. gonk Anybody else have any good ideas to help learn kanji?

I'd say make flashcards, and then have someone hold them up for you, so you don't cheat. lol. I learned the limited kanji I DO know by translating jrock songs from booklets. It's a good way to make connections between the character you see, and the word that it is. But that only works if you have a good kanji dictionary (or my cousin in your lap... haha).

Puffy was great. My ears are still singing. gonk I could understand almost all of what they said in Japanese. I felt accomplished.
They took the time to talk to the audience about the word 'Mecha' D: As in Mecha kawaii. Fun. I also picked up an unreleased CD by them. They keep becomming more and more generic. I remember when they were considered Shibuya Kei.

If the mods will let me I can make a whole thread for learning kanji for those learning Japanese in the lessons subforum if you'd like. I learned all of the kana in 6 hours using Remembering the Kana if anyone is interested. For learning kanji I suggest: Remembering the Kanji Remembering the Kanji II Remembering the Kanji III (out of print) Remembering the Kanji: Hyperkanji! (I think that's out of print too.) I forget the other two books James Heisig referenced to, but if you go to amazon and look for those books it will bring up his flashcards which will have them names of the books. His flashcards are too expensive so I suggest not buying those. He tells you how to make them in his books anyways so there's really no need to buy the set. I DO NOT suggest: Any Tuttle publications They write almost everything in roumaji and there's really no way to practice kana so I strongly advise againt it.

Thank you!

Can anyone help me with grammar? I really need help with particles and verb forms. Everything else I can learn on my own. Although, my volcabulary is rather limited too.

I can help with Grammar, that's my favorite part of Japanese. =3 And I'm alright with verb forms, getting a bit rusty though. I'm good with Kanji/vocab, too. PM me if you have any questions.

Jim Breen's WWWJDIC.How do I know which reading to use? Because I also found Ritsu and Sou for 律 and 朗 repsectively. Depends. Typically, [Or at least how I remember] if a word is part of a series of Kanji/Two kanji it will use the on'yomi(Chinese) reading. Kanji, usually alone, uses the kun'yomi(Japanese) pronounciation. An example; 風訓読み(Kunyomi)-かぜ 音読み(Onyomi)-ふう As in 台風(Taifu)Meaning"Typhoon" As it is not 'Taikaze' it's 'Taifuu' because of it's placement.
