Lot Tribal Sleeping Forest Silent Village
Lot looked around for the source of the mysterious sound. He frowned as he tried to place it. "It's like... It's like... I don't know. Where was it coming from?" said Lot as he got up from his chair. The sound was a little unnerving. "Lets ask William, he might know what it was." he said trying to be helpful.

Tal, William Tribal Sleeping Forest Silent Village ---> Hidden Northern Path
William had been speaking with a few of the villagers, when he heard the very same sound that his three new guests had heard. He wasn't as surprised as they were, and showed no outward signs that he had even heard it. He bowed to the old man who was respected by the entire village as the Elder.
"I thank you for understanding, wise Elder. And now, I must be on my way. There's really no time to waste. They've begun to call."
The old man hesitated for a moment, thinking to himself, then raised a grey eyebrow in William's direction.
"Are you....certain?"
"Yes, very. It won't be long now. There's no telling who else has heard the call...or who will answer it. I'd like to get to at least him first."
"I understand. Very well, then, I bid you farewell, and good luck. Try not to get killed, now, son."
"I'll do my best," Williamsaid with a smile and a nod. Then, after waving to the rest of the villagers who had assembled near the Elder's house, he took off quickly toward his own home.
"Alright, boys, it's time to mooooove out!" he shouted, grabbing a small sack from one of the hammocks and throwing it over his back. Tal jumped to his feet, a confused look on his face.
Tal dropped his cigarette to the ground and stomped it out with his bare foot, giving William a rather confused look. "Wait, that was only 'bout three minutes. What happened to 'two hours'?"
William burst into ecstatic laughter at Tal's words, and he reached his hands to his face to wipe tears of mirth from his eyes.
"You actually thought I was being serious?! IT WAS A JOKE!!!" He laughed more as he turned and began to walk farther into the village. Tal rolled his eyes and shook his head, obviously not finding the joke very funny at the moment, before he signalled the two mages to move, and followed after the laughing William.
Their forest-dwelling leader soon led the group to a small break in the wall of trees on the northeastern side of the village. Not pausing to give a verbal explanation to the obvious, he bent down and began to crawl through the tunnel of vines, shrubs, and other greenery. Tal quickly followed, and soon found himself back in the woods, on the other side of the thick forest wall. Now that he looked at it from the outside, he saw that this circular wall not only protected the village, but hid it rather well. He could barely see through the thick natural barricade.
After noting to himself that the path before them was much like the ones prior to entering the village - except without the signs - he lit another cigarette and waited for his mage friends to finish their own crawling venture through the tunnel. He assumed that, after they were free of the cramped crawlway, they would all be on their way once again.

Nikolas Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Southern Caves
"Well, well, well, what have we here?" Nikolas chimed as he turned the corner at the end of the tunnel and set his sights upon what lay in the cave ahead of him. The remainder of the rebel forces had gathered within: fifteen of them, precisely. As if that weren't bad enough, they were swarmed around a gargantuan cage which was build from the floor all the way to the rocky cave ceiling above...And within the cage, itching for the moment it would be released, was a horrific, gigantic monster known as a Hill Gigas.
Its skin was a sickly green color, and it wore a massive red and blue tunic which fit tightly over its terrible muscles. It held no weapons, but it obviously needed none. It was a wonder it hadn't broken out of the cage by now. That puny casing couldn't hold something with such brute strength. Perhaps it was trained...
Nikolas was now stricken with fear, although his life of being trained in his ways allowed him not to show it. He knew that they were in over their heads. The rebel army was a beast which he had underestimated, and now that beast was preparing to bite down on him with its vengeful fury. He didn't know how his small team of three could possibly overwhelm these odds. The army, maybe, if they were very lucky...But the Gigas...that was another matter entirely.
Suddenly, his thoughts strayed from their sudden-death predicament, when a strange sound filled his head. It sounded like several indistinguishable voices calling out in despair. It was so unbearably loud, as if it were close by, although he knew not everyone in the cave would hear it, if indeed anyone WOULD hear it other than himself. The girl and the moogle accompanying him heard it as well. And all three of them were unaware, of course, that several thousand miles away, four others had heard something very, very similar.
It's happening...now?! How is this possible? It's too soon...I didn't plan on this....Too much is happening at once. I can't deal with this NOW!
He kept his thoughts to himself, but the slightest crack formed in his apathetic "mask", his face now barely showing a small trace of the violent frustration and desperation he now felt.
Adelbert, leader of the rebel army, and commander of the final stand against the deep-seated corruption of his homeland, saw the small sign of negative emotion upon the crimson-haired mage's face....
....and smiled.

Lot Tribal Sleeping Forest Silent Village ---> Hidden Northern Path
Lot crawled out of the shrub tunnel. He was covered in dirt and green stains. His hair was disheveled and leaves and twigs were stuck to him randomly. He stood up, dusting himself off. "Wooh, I should not have tried to stand up half way," he said as he removed a leaf from his head. "Hey Tal, do you think William wants to get us out of here because of the weird sound," asked Lot in a rare moment of intelegence. then, without skipping a beat, he called into the tunnel. "Hey Remmy, hurry up!"
----------------------------------------------------
Dansworth Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Southern Caves
Dansworth rounded the corner and saw the rebels just as the sound entered her head. Unable to find the source, she looked to Nikolas. The slight crack in his mask revieled his fear. This would not do. If the leader could not be counted on, the entire group would fall apart. "Sir, when we win this fight, I expect to be paid double," she said with a smile.
This was not the worst situation she'd been in. The plan formed in her head of what they needed to do. The first part was to kill the rebels before they let loose the Hill Gigas. If that failed, the second part of the plan was to use the Hill Gigas, once it had been freed, to take out the remaining rebels. If that happened, they would then have to use the Gigas' size against it to bring it down. "Sir, what do you want us to do?" she asked.

Remetheus Tribal Sleeping Forest Silent Village ---> Hidden Northern Path
Remetheus winced when he heard the sound. It was unlike anything he had ever heard before. At William's sudden and loud return, he flinched, unprepared. The mage sighed resignedly. It seems like he had to get used to being surprised. He followed the group, keeping up with them but staying behind a bit though he hurried up at Lot's insistence. _____________________________________________________
Fals Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Southern Caves
The moogle followed Nikolas around the corner though cautiously staying back. A sound suddenly manifested itself in his mind. Fals winced. He looked for the source of the sound but he couldn't find it. It didn't seem to do anything else rather than be extremely disruptive and he seemed to have something else more pressing to worry about. He turned to look at what the group was facing: an entire army and a Gigas. Things weren't looking so good.

Tal, William Tribal Sleeping Forest Hidden Northern Path
At Lot's question to Tal, William's eyes suddenly went wide. He turned on his heel toward the young white mage and grabbed him by both of his arms. His gaze was unblinking, his pure green, pupil-less eyes fixed steadily upon Lot's own
"Sound?! What sound? You heard it too?!"
Tal raised an eyebrow at their odd leader's sudden behavior and took a puff from his cigarette. He thought it raher imperative to calm him down, for Lot's sake.
"What, the weird cry? Yeah, I think we all heard it. Why? You know what it is?"
William turned to Tal now, letting go of Lot. He seemed to have calmed down, but he did not answer Tal's questions - only stared at the young man with a curious look in his unusual eyes...

Nikolas Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Southern Caves
Nikolas hesitated only a few seconds before answering Dansworth's question. He had already begun to charge magic energy through both of his hands. He would go all-out, using all of his energy as best he could, gosh-darn the consequences.
"...I want you, my dear girl...and brave moogle...to KILL!!!"
The order was coupled with his immediate action. He launched a Fire spell, split into three separate spheres of flame, from his right hand into the crowd of enemies. He then followed it up instantly with an identical spell fired from his left hand. He had aimed for the same three men at the front of the assembly both times, and they had now fallen onto their backs from the force of the magic flames. Nikolas was certain that all three were dead.
Now he charged another spell, and prepared to aim it at Adelbert, even as the young rebel leader was charging at him. Most of the other soldiers were following, rushing into the fray after their seemingly fearless leader.
They aren't releasing the Gigas, Nikolas thought. They must be saving it for later...
Nikolas knew he would soon be out of energy. He could feel the first signs of fatigue already beginning to slow him down a bit. But it would not stop him from doing his best. He only hoped that his two unlucky comrades would somehow manage to stay alive, and possibly take a few of the rebels down in the process.

Lot Tribal Sleeping Forest Hidden Northern Path
Lot quickly rearranged his robe and nursed the spots where William grabbed his arms. "I think that's going to leave a bruise" he said, turning his attention back to William and Tal. For the moment, his attention was not wavering.

Dansworth Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Southern Caves
With out hesitating an instant, Dansworth entered the fray. As two of the rebels rushed forward, one behind the other, Dansworth used Piercedthrough to kill both of them in a single blow. suddenly, an arrow went whizzing by her. "Damn, an archer. This could be a problem," she said as she withdrew her rapier from the bodies.

Tal, William Tribal Sleeping Forest Hidden Northern Path"You....?" William's gaze was still fixed upon Tal. How peculiar....I should have foreseen this fifteen years ago, during the Race. But still....He shook his head from side to side, and waved Tal off. No need worrying about it now. The main thing was to get there. There was no telling who else might have heard the Call. "Let's just get out of here. We can talk about it on the way."And so, William set off northward, down the new path. Tal simply shrugged and followed, motioning for the others to follow him. Soon the dark, narrow forest trail seemed to grow tighter around them, the bushes and weeds on both sides closing in slowly but surely. Tal had almost finished his cigarette by the time he decided he had better speak up. "Hey Billy, you sure you're goin' the right way? Looks like this path is takin' us off the beaten...er...path...""Of course I know where I'm going! I've been in these woods for yea..." He suddenly trailed off, then put his finger to his mouth to shush the others. He had apparently heard something. Then, without warning, he unsheathed his dagger as a small gang of three goblins leaped from the bushes to their right. They were followed, more slowly, by an odd plant-like creature with long vines for arms. "This is getting old!""Tal, you and Lot distract the Ochu while the Black Mage kid n' me kill off the goblins. Let's make quick work of this, yeah?"Tal stuck his cigarette back in his mouth, and clenched down with his teeth to keep it from falling out in case he decided to pull some aerial tricks. He sighed, although there was already a grin upon his face, and drew his own dagger as well. "Nice day ta get raped by an ugly-a** plant. C'mon, Lot, you're on cleanup duty, too!" And with that, the green-haired thief leaped at the green monstrosity, while William made quick work of one of the three goblins with his own quick slashes. ___________________________________________ Nikolas Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Southern CavesWell, now there were only ten of them. Not counting the Gigas. Not too bad for the first few seconds of the fight. He released his next spell, a blast of Thunder magic, and sent it flying toward the rebel commander. However, at the last second, one of the other rebels had leaped in front of their leader and taken the hit for him. Now the crowd had shifted, and Nikolas had lost sight of his prey. On the other hand, however, he had spotted the archer who was giving Dansworth trouble. He charged up energy into both his hands, and fired a massive blue-and-white chunk of ice toward the rebel archer. The Blizzard spell caught the foe unawares, and he was sent hurtling toward the cave wall. He did not rise, but Nikolas guess he must only be unconscious, not dead. Regardless, that was another one down. "Eight to go....Well....nine...whatever...________________________________________ ((Yeah, I know, William's kinda talkin' nonsense, or so it seems, about crazy stuff, in this post. Lot Tribal Sleeping Forest Hidden Northern Path
Lot ducked behind Tal as they faced the ochu. "That thing looks angry. I wonder if it has okay soil and nutrients?" he asked while his brain worked on what to do next. Lot took out his rod as he chanted a few unintelligible words. He quickly aimed his rod and light engulfed Tal as Lot cast protect. "I hope this doesn't get nasty," Lot added as an afterthought.

Dansworth Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Southern Caves
As the archer got hit by the blizzard, Dansworth felt some relief. she would finish him off when she got the chance. But first she had to deal with another rebel that stood in between her and her prize. As this rebel charged, Dansworth readied her attack. Ducking under the downswing of the rebel's axe, Dansworth quickly made use of the close proximity and stabbed him through a weak spot in the leather armor. As he toppled over, Dansworth kicked the rebel off her blade. "Don't get in my way," she said to the dead rebel as she walked toward the archer.

Remetheus Tribal Sleeping Forest Hidden Northern Path
Remetheus simply followed and took in his surroundings. It was quite understandable that he was taken off-guard when enemies suddenly appeared. He recovered and set his sights on the goblin nearest to him, rushing towards it.
The goblin avoided his first blow and blocked the second with its sword before countering. Remetheus barely succeeded in avoiding the goblin's rapid slashes when the goblin suddenly brought down the blunt edge of its sword on the mage. Luckily, there wasn't too much force. It still hurt though.
Remetheus retaliated by thrusting his staff at the goblin, hitting its face and knocking the sword out of its hand. The black mage kept his weapon where it was and focused his magic. The tip of his staff exploded in a roar of searing fire, scorching the goblin.
The goblin fell, charred, and Remetheus stumbled as he panted, his lungs aching from the still-hot air.

Fals Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Southern Caves
When the fighting began, Fals did what came naturally to him-- he hid. He would have ran away, but he reserved that option for later, when there was no other choice. He took position in the nearest corner he could find that was close to Nikolas and Dansworth.
His two companions seemed to be doing quite well without him. Well enough to make the moogle think that they stood a greater chance than he thought after all. Fals brought his flute to his mouth and began to play.
The sound was fast. The moogle played staccato and the magical notes formed and moved rapidly, heading towards a small cluster of rebels he could see. The notes assaulted them. They didn't do much damage on their own. Combined though, they were enough to distract the rebels and send them into disarray. Fals paused in his playing to smirk as the rebels tried to find the source of the attack.

Tal, William Tribal Sleeping Forest Hidden Northern Path
William stabbed the third goblin through the chest, then pulled his dagger from the fiend to slice its neck. As its bloody corpse fell to the grassy forest floor, he turned to give Remetheus a nod and a smile.
The kid's got talent.
Tal's blade came down hard, slicing into the Ochu's sickly green flesh. He quickly retrieved the blade and backflipped swiftly out of the way of one of its flailing tentacles. He could feel Lot's spell of protection covering him, forming a barrier close around his body as he landed.
He then rushed at the monster again, only to have it wildly swing its right tentacle at him, hitting him square in the chest. The Protect barrier took some of the damage for him, but the beast was very strong; the blow sent the thief flying into a nearby tree. Once he got back onto his feet, he cursed the green monstrosity and charged again, this time followed by William.

Nikolas Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Southern Caves
Well, he was almost out of energy now. He'd have to do most of the rest of his fighting physically. He knew he had only one good shot left in him, and he wanted to make sure it hit the rebel leader.
The mage rolled on the ground to dodge a swipe from a shortsword. This maneuver brought him up against the cave wall, and he noticed one of the rebels standing conveniently near to him. Before the soldier could even think of attacking, Nikolas took the man's face in his right hand and shoved his head back forcefully into the wall. He then proceeded to bash in the soldier's head quite a few times against the cold, hard stone. When he was sure the poor b*****d had had enough, he released him and allowed his body to fall to the floor.
And it was then that he once again caught sight of Adelbert, the one he really wanted. The General was heading over to the Gigas cage in a bit of a hurry. Well...he wouldn't make it. Nikki reared back with his left arm, then flung his staff in a well-aimed shot. The old wooden stick hurtled through the air before hitting Adelbert in the back of the head. The blow threw the man off, causing him to lose his balance and slip to his hands and knees. Nikolas smiled and charged in to help himself to some fun. He hoped his own two little soldiers could deal with the other five remaining rebels.

Lot Tribal Sleeping Forest Hidden Northern Path
Lot watched as the other two charged. He knew that Tal was still injured from being thrown into a tree. He aimed his rod and cast cure on Tal. "Now what do I do?," Lot asked himself. He felt useless in this battle, not being able to do much damage to the Ochu. "If only William was not moving around so much, I could cast protect on him too." he thought out loud.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Dansworth Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Southern Caves
Dansworth finally found the archer. The archer was being guarded by three other rebels in disarray over Fal's staccato notes. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Dansworth stabbed one through the spine, severing the spinal cord and killing him instantly. As she kicked him off her rapier the other two rebels charged at her. A fast piercethrough impaled them both on her blade.
The sound of a swinging blade alerted Dansworth to the fact that the rear rebel was still alive. She attemted to jump out of the way, but could not react fast enough to avoid the blade completely, leaving a nasty cut on her left arm as she pulled away. Dansworth took the shortsword of the nearby dead rebel as the live one blindly swung again in her general direction, his vision obscured by his dead compainion. Keeping low, Dansworth first hamstrung the live rebel, causing him to fall backwards. Then, she grabbed onto her rapier and kicked the two rebels off. Then, she stabbed the live rebel in the neck, causing him to bleed to death.
Exhausted, Dansworth walked back to the unconscious archer while nursing her injured left arm. He was unconscious up until the moment Dansworth stabbed him in the heart. This b*****d was lucky. His death was almost painless, except for getting hit by the blizzard spell. How anticlimactic. she thought.
One rebel left.

Tal, William Tribal Sleeping Forest Hidden Northern Path
"Ready?" Tal asked William as they approached the Ochu. The older man smiled at him before turning his attention back to their target.
"I was about to ask you the same thing. You keep the tentacles busy while I go after its head. Try not to screw this up, alright?"
"Yes, dear" Tal replied with a roll of his eyes. The Ochu suddenly flicked its left tentacle at him. Wary of making the same mistake twice, he ducked and fell into a roll to dodge the green appendage, then quickly rose back to his feet to slice into it with an uppercut (pun intended) from his dagger.
While the left arm was busy writhing in pain, William nimbly leaped out of the way of an attack from the right, before stepping onto it with his left foot and pushing off to dive at the creature. His dagger impaled it at the top of its head, and the beast gave out an ear-splitting shriek - the sound seemed not to bother William, despite his being so close, but Tal had to struggle not to double over with his hands to his ears. You would think the blade had stabbed right into the monster's brain...if it even had a brain. Do Ochus have brains, or is it all like vegetable soup in there? Hell, I couldn't tell you. I'm not an Ochu. Or an expert in Monster Anatomy. Wouldn't really want to be either, anyway.
"Remmy, Fire, NOW!!!"
Apparently, William was very certain that the beast was NOT dead yet.

Nikki Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Southern Caves
The crimson-haired mage grabbed his long-sought prey by the neck and began to squeeze - lightly at first.
"Well, now that you can look Zalera in the face, what do you think of all the time you've wasted defying the inevitable?"
Adelbert, despite his situation, managed a short laugh. "I don't acknowledge your foreign Gods, you shameless usurper. I knew you weren't an Amorian from the moment I laid eyes upon you. I only wish the rest of my people could see it. Oh, what joy it would give me to watch them tear you apart."
Oh, damn it all. I mentioned one of our deities without thinking again, didn't I? Old habits die hard and all that. Well, this fool won't live long enough to tell anyone else about it, so it really doesn't matter.
Nikki's evil smile returned, and he gently stroked the rebel's cheek in a twisted, playful manner. "My little would-be general...What makes you think 'your people' would do that to ME? They love me! They think I'm the greatest thing since the invention of the telephone...of the steam train...of HOUSES. Face it, little boy: you never had a chance. Fooling yourself into believing that you did was...well...just sad."
"It's YOU who doesn't stand a chance, outsider. We may have lost this war, but it is far from over. You will soon have enemies on your doorstep from every nation in the civilized world. Our country shall be restored to its people. The wrath of Ifrit shall descend upon you in an undying flame, scorching your unworthy soul until the moon and the stars all fall from the sky!!! And His flames shall destroy your armies and purify our land while you lay in eternal torment for defying Him!"
"...Right. And chocobos will dig into the center of the world, and cows will jump over the moon. Remember, I don't acknowledge your Amorian Gods...you pathetic little worm. Now, since this is finally over..." Nikolas suddenly paused, because he heard a loud clanking sound from up ahead, accompanied by a sound much like gears turning. He looked up from the ground, only to see that what he feared had come to pass: the last rebel had opened the Gigas' cage.
The poor young man was breathing deeply, sweat pouring out of his body; obviously this whole underground battle scenario was not being kind to him. He needed a break. And oh, how they would give him one...a break in the SPINE.
"Dansworth..." He presumed that the girl was smart enough to figure out what to do with the boy. Meanwhile, they had to worry about the Gigas, and...
"Oh yes, back to you."
Adelbert laughed again, this time seeming very pleased. "Yes....You'll get what's coming to you, outsider. Just wait."
"I'm sure I will. Now, as for what's coming to YOU..." Without finishing the sentence, he laid his free hand upon the man's head and broke his neck like a twig. His evil grin had already faded to a dissatisfied look, and now it changed to pure sad dissappointment. "I was going to play with you, but well, you see what you made me go and do? Some men are SO difficult."
He rose to his feet and stared at the gate. It would still take a moment to open all the way, but there was no stopping it now. The beast was unleashed.

Remetheus Tribal Sleeping Forest Hidden Northern Path
Remetheus gagged as the scent of burnt goblin flesh assaulted his nose; it was absolutely nauseating. He wished he hadn't gotten so close to the goblin in the first place but he knew he was lucky when he fired off that fire spell when he did. He had panicked and did the first thing he had thought of. The mage moved backwards so he could escape the smell and catch his breath.
A few moments later, a shriek sounded out and Remetheus turned to his side to catch sight of Tal, their new companion William, and a distressed Ochu.
"Remmy, Fire, NOW!!!" William shouted.
The mage hesitated before bringing up his staff and pointing it towards the Ochu. He breathed in, trying to ignore the disgusting smell of burnt goblin, and concentrated. A dull red glow appeared at the end of his staff, lingered, then abruptly disappeared a second before a small burst of fire erupted from where it was, heading towards the Ochu. The force of the spell made Remetheus stumble backwards in an effort to regain his footing.

Fals Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Southern Caves
Fals stopped playing once he saw that Dansworth was taking care of the rebels. Rather bloodily too, he thought, allowing himself to flinch since no one was looking at him as she dispatched them. The moogle thought it was rather sad that it was getting easier for him again to not react to things like these. Nothing he could do about it, he supposed.
Seeing that Dansworth had finished, he played his flute again. The tune this time was slow and soothing and the magical notes glowed white as they surrounded Dansworth and faded away softly when the melody ended. Dansworth would feel that she was slightly rejuvenated.
Nearby, Nikolas had taken Adelbert by the neck and was deep in conversation with his victim. The moogle tried edging closer to listen in, but their voices were too hushed and harsh for him to make out clearly.
Fals was, however, more concerned about the fact that no one was paying attention to the thing he had been worrying about the whole time-- the Gigas. And now the last rebel had freed the monster. The moogle stayed silent and watched, taking note of the available escape routes that he could use.

The ochu's screech hit Lot like a shockwave, knocking him to the ground with his hands over his ears. "Ow, my ears," he said while rolling on the ground. Unable to work, Lot crawled away from the sound towards Remetheus. He felt the heat of the fireball pass him while clutching his still ringing ears, causing his to look back towards the ochu.

Dansworth Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Southern Caves
Hearing Nikolas's command, Dansworth moved quickly to the last remaining rebel. Fal's tune restored much of her spent strength as well as he sense of joy of battle. The tired young rebel attempted to defend himself with a dagger, olny to be stabbed through the stomach. "I'd love to let you suffer, but I have a Gigas to kill," she said just before he withdrew her rapier and stabbed him through the neck, slicing the carotid artery.
As she took out her blade, a fountain of blood briefly erupted from the rebel's neck in a series of spurts, just before he fell down dead. Wiping off her rapier, Dansworth then turned her attention to the Gigas.

Tal, William Tribal Sleeping Forest Hidden Northern Path
William quickly flipped backwards out of the way of the Fire spell, gracefully landing on his feet as if this stunt were child's play to him. Meanwhile, the ball of flame continued its course and hit the odd plant-creature dead-on, sending it into an even more violent fit of shrieking and flailing. It soon fell onto its back and proceeded to roll from side to side in a rather humorous - yet repulsive, what with all the writhing and blood - manner.
That spell seemed to had finished the beast off, but William wanted to make absolutely sure. He slowly approached the Ochu, then, with only a moment of hesitation, brought his dagger down into its sickly green flesh once again. He twisted the blade for good measure, then pulled it free of the corpse, which soon ceased moving.
Heaving a heavy sigh, Tal allowed himself to fall quite abruptly onto his backside now that all the monsters were taken care of. He wiped the sweat from his brow with the back of his forearm, flicked the remaining filter from his last cigarette into the air, and finally managed a smile as the small bit of trash found its way to the ground several feet away. "Well, we won!"
"Don't forget to clean your blade, kid" William said with a grin as he finished wiping his own dagger upon his pant leg. The monster's horrid green blood did nothing for his already-rough appearance.
Tal rolled his eyes once again and proceeded to wipe his blade on the grass. "Quit callin' me 'kid'," he mumbled, but said nothing else. He was too tired to b***h.

Nikolas, ??? Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Southern Caves
Nikolas sighed as the gate which had been holding the giant back finished its ascent. It came to a stop with a loud CLANG, and the beast took the sound as a sort of cue, finally stepping out of the massive cage. It didn't just charge at them recklessly as one might expect a Hill Gigas to do; it simply looked from one of its three tiny victims to the next in a calm manner, apparently deciding which one to kill first. It had apparently been trained.
"Well, I've only got one shot left in me...I suppose it's 'use it or lose it' now." The mage focused all the magic left within him into his right palm, creating a ball of fire which rapidly grew until it was twice the size of his own head. He then reared back his arm and pitched it straight at the enormous monster. The Fire spell hit the Gigas directly in the chest; it caused it to sway backwards for about half a second, but didn't seem to have any effect other than making it finally decide upon a victim.
The Gigas stomped towards the red-headed mage, covering the distance between them in just two steps of its massive feet. Before Nikki could do anything to defend himself, it swung out its right hand in a backhanded slap which hit him square in the side and sent him flying into the cave wall. Nikolas fell to the ground in a heap after the impact, and spent the next few seconds trying to catch his breath while coughing up a bit of blood.
"Damn....I think I broke a rib...This may be harder than I thought..." He finally managed to slowly get back up to his feet, but decided not to attack the Hill Gigas again...at least, not anytime soon. They needed some kind of strategy...
"Oh, come on, Nikki. Do I always have to save your a**?" The new voice came from the direction of the tunnel their group had entered from, just before a single arrow split the darkness and flew through the air, piercing the monster's eye. This agitated the creature far more than you would think, for as big and burly as it was. It fell to one knee and clawed at its face in a panic, leaving it wide open to attack.
Nikolas nodded to Dansworth and Fals, signalling them to go ahead and take advantage of the opening. He then turned his attention to the pitch-black tunnel, into which he could not see. The darkness shrouded the person who had apparently come to their aid, but Nikki didn't seem to be afraid of the possibility of an arrow in the face.
"You..."
