こんちゃ~。このページのカキコだけちょっと読んでみたんだけど、みんな日本語上手なんだね!ユイが知らない漢字とか知ってるし・・・

Sorry, I use my name whenever I speak in Japanese, it's just a habit for me ever since I could speak. It's much better for me than using 私.

日本語で話せる人が多いんだね。じゃ、今度何を書こうかな?ああ、皆さん、どうして日本語を勉強してる?日系人なんだ?授業を取ってるの?

ユイさん、日本人は「私」や「僕」を使わずに自分の名前を使うことは普通だろう?

Also, in reply to NakaTake's comments on 'shitsurei', 'shitsurei' itself means 'rudeness/impoliteness', and 'shitsurei suru' is the act of committing such rudeness. So 'shitsurei desu ga...' means 'this is impolite, but...'.

日本語の喋れる人が多いよね。僕は日本人から日本語を勉強してる。授業を取ってるけど仏教会で取ってる。

Thanks for explaining, I haven't heard shitsurei desu ga before.
Also, Nikkeijin refers to people of Japanese ancestry, or in this context, America-born Japanese.
Also:
I dislike using polite form, because it makes everything longer D:
Is it okay to use only the informal form of Japanese here, even if I just met everyone?

This has nothing to do with anything but... Watashino tanjyoubi wa 1-gatsu 9 desu! 3 hi! (I think that means three days... sweatdrop ) (Oh, and I really, really suck with dates, sorry about that!)

konnichiwa Marisu-san! nan sai desuka?

Lauren-san, sugoi desuyo! koko de, yasumi wa mijikai. demo, gakki no shiken wa (in two weeks.)

getsuyoubi
tomodachi: nani o shite imasuka?
watashi: benkyoushite imasu!

kayoubi
tomodachi: nani o shite imasuka?
watashi: benkyoushite imasu!

suiyoubi:
tomodachi: nani o shite imasuka?
watashi: benkyoushite imasu!
tomodachi: mata ne?

mokuyoubi
tomodachi: benkyoushite imasu ne? anata wa tsumaranai desuyo!
watashi: gomen!

benkyou ga kirai desuyo!

Um... sorry about that.
By the way, I never mentioned this before, but if you notice something wrong, please tell me! And I feel so smart for understanding your post! *dances*

I really like your kanji idea! I'm also thinking of getting some postits and posting random kanji around the house, then when I see it, I quiz myself on onyomi, kunyomi, and imi.

I'm getting much better at katakana now. It only takes me a few seconds to remember most katakana, as opposed to having to look up every single one! My hiragana is almost flawless, except sometimes I forget random characters that don't seem to be used as often. At one point I forgot mi for almost three days until someone showed me. sweatdrop As for kanji, I know all the days and numbers and such, and we're learning more... we haven't even gotten past the five-stroke ones yet, although I do know the one for date, which is like, ten BILLION strokes or so. sweatdrop

Annnnyway, long post. If I can find them, I'll post some of the skits I've written for Japanese class, (in Japanese)... they're really funny. At elast, I think so. sweatdrop

ごめなさい。 私の日本語は上手でわありません。

でも 9day=九日

hirgana: ごめなさい。 わたしのにほんごはじょうずでわありません。
でも 9day=ここのか

romaji: gomenasai. watashi no nihongo wa sougon dewa-arimasen.
demo 9day=kokonoka.

English ( I think I said it correctly): Sorry. My Japanese is not awesome. But day 9 of a month is (kokonoka)

I bet I got it wrong, my Japanese is not skillful, I'm still learning but day 9 is kokonoka. じゃありません。 I learned both dewa and ja arimasen, but I thought dewa was more formal so I thought I'd use it.

Sougon? I don't know the word, but I looked it up and it looks more like the 'looking at a huge old cathedral' sort of awesome - it implies solemnity and greatness. You might want to use something like 上手じゃない (jouzu - skilled) or すごくない. And 'ja' is just an abbreviated 'de wa', so they are the same thing, but 'de wa is indeed a bit more formal.

じゃ~。皆さん、この週末どうするつもり?私は奈良公園へ行きたいけどちょっと暑すぎるかもしれない。とにかく東大寺へ行って見たいよ!世界で一番広い木で作ったビルなんだよ。もう行った事があるけどとてもきれいな寺だからもう一回見たい。その公園にも可愛い鹿が住んでいる。
