Alice didn't feel the dart that was fired from the alerted guards, but she felt her body hit the floor as she was temporarily paralyzed. Around her she could hear the muffled voices of the guards.
"Jesus...I knew it was a bad idea to give her low dosages! Just look! And they haven't even taken her off completely.
"What's the status on Joe and Micheals?"
"Micheals' circuit is blown. How did she know to hit there?"
"I don't know. Just take her body to the lab. I just got a message from the com to meet with the doctor upstairs."
"Great. Now where going to get chewed out for this.."
Their voices faded with her consciousness.
Alice wasn't sure how long she had been out for, but in her experience, one dart usually meant an hour out. She opened her eyes and looked around, expecting to see the white walls of the "punishment" room. But instead she saw the grey walls of one of the lab rooms.
Why am I in here? She thought, her mind still groggy from the sedative. Behind her she heard a voice, one she recognized. It was a lab tech. The one she threatened to castrate with a scalpel if she remembered correctly.
"She's awake. Take care of that." He said, his voice cold. Yeah definitely the one she threatened to castrate.
Alice saw a shadow cross over her then a mask lowered on to her face, sending her back into darkness.

Dr.Gerard paced the length of his study, occasionally glancing at the screens. Alice took down two guards with a diluted serum, god knows what no serum would do. Then there was Dawn. The Dr. knew all too well what his daughter could do.
And what to do with the boy? It seems his drug addiction was more prudent then the doctor had expected. Security had to be tightened. The guards were in need of an upgrade anyways. The matter of their circuits was also due for some attention. Alice was too observant. The circuits had to be further protected. As for the boys punishment, that would come later. For now, the Doctor had bigger fish to fry.
A knock at the door stopped his pacing.
"In." Gerard uttered. His voice on the edge of anger.
The two guard who took down Alice stood before him, neither brave enough to make eye contact with the Dr.
"Sir she has been secured in the labs, and the technicians have begun."
"Good. Did you tell them to only do half the procedure? I want to see how she reacts first before we put everything in play."
"Yes Sir."
"Very well then. I want you to have the night shift report to the labs for upgrades, then the dayshift, am I understood?"
"Yes Sir."
"Okay, your dismissed."
Once the guards had left Gerard sat back at his desk, tapping his pen on the edge, deep in thought.

Jack had taken to lying on his bed and staring at the ceiling. He felt nothing. He should of snorted the painkillers, crushed them into a powder and snorted them; that might of done more. He wasn’t sure. This wasn’t his sort of drug.
Jack rolled out of bed and knelt at the side of his nightstand. For a moment he thought he had lost the pills within the depths of his pockets, but after a desperate moment of fumbling around he located the remaining few.
Just one. That was all.
Jack crushed the tiny tablets against the wooden nightstand and brushed the resulted powder into a thin strip, just long enough for a deep inhale.
He put his head down, but a movement across the door caught his attention. Jack whipped around and watched as two guards’ heads passed by the small window. They seemed to be carrying something…
Jack’s eyes widened and he shot up, forgetting about the strip of powder. He gave the guards a full minute to leave before dashing out into the hallway and Alice’s room, which was thankfully unlocked.
“Alice?” he called, closing the door quietly behind him. Alice was in her bed, sprawled out across the hard mattress looking bruised. Her skin was like wax, and when Jack touched her forehead she was cold but sweating. She seemed sick, but otherwise unharmed….that he knew off.
“Alice, are you alright?” He took a step away from the bed as he remembered his guilt. Maybe he should go, get out before she woke up. The painkillers were waiting for him anyway…

Kiri woke up in a small cell taht was so dark there was no shadow.
"Damn where am I."
Moving to quickly a pain shot through Kiri's skull, causing her to grab it and hold it in her arms.
"Oh my head, I feel like I got wasted but I haven't drank anything since i got here."
Looking up Kiri watched the door for someone to come get here. She could here people down the hall but they were to far away for her to know what they were sayin.
'I wonder if there coming for me.'
That's when Kiri realized her sun glasses were gone and both her large and tiny daggers.
"DAMN,DAMN, DAMN. Those bastards took my daggers. I can't believe I let them get me."
Stumbling over to the door Kiri started looking for the lock. After finding it she began to study it.
"I've never seen this type of lock before but I'm sure I'll figure out away to break it. Prehaps I can use my 'gift' to get out."
Looking around for a shadow Kiri found a small one near the edge of the door and starring at it she started trying to get it to move. After awhile Kiri stepped back to take a deep breath.
"This is going to take awhile. I wonder how long I'll be in here for?"
Going back to watching the shadow Kiri continued trying to get out.

Brynn Syvra was silently following Dawn, keeping a close eye on her. She saw Dawn glance around like she'd seen something, so Brynn hid behind a column. She saw Dawn rub her eyes like she was in a daze and walk on. As silently as she could manage, Brynn Syvra lifted up her hair and started braiding it as she went. When she braided it, it lifted up enough so that her hair wouldn't drag on the ground. It would make noise, Dawn would notice her, and although Brynn Syvra couldn't leave Dawn alone for a reason she didn't understand, she also knew for other reasons that Dawn wasn't a person you wanted to startle.

As she saw the girl called Alice rush out, saying something about "Dawn," Charlie knew that something was wrong. Not that aything could ever be right in a place like this, but more wrong than ususal. Charlie wanted to go see what was the matter, but that would involve human interaction. Charlie sat for a few more minutes, eating and watching the other girls at the other table. One of the girls, the one that had been dripping in here earlier quietly got up and left. The others remained, and Charlie felt a pang of loneliness. Not that it was any different than what she had always felt, but today, she couldn't brush it aside. Not when she knew that everyone else was feeling exactly the same insecurities as she. The fear and anger. The pain. Or what was left of it physically, at least.
With a sigh of exasperation at herself, Charlie took her plate of food over to the other table and sat at the table with everyone else. She continued to listen to them, but she was no longer as much of an outsider. She was one of them.

Kiri Stopped just as she was about to get her shadow to reach the lock.
"I'm so hungry I can't even concentrate on using my power."
Dropping to the ground Kiri held her stomach as she waited for the stomach gramps to stop.
"I need food."
Outside the cell a guard came up with a plate of food. "The Doc hasn't said when to let you out, or even if were letting you out. You did stab a guard, hmm maybe he'll give you to me."
Kiri looked at the plate of food she was being handed and through it up in his face.
"Eat your own poisoned food, you creep."
Smirking the guard hit Kiri across the face throwing her back into the wall opposite of the door.
"Guess I'll go ask the Doc what were to do with you."
Turning around the guard headed upstairs.

Reaching a dark study the guard knocked before answering.
"Dr. Gerard sir I was wondering what you want us to do with that Kiri girl?She's the one you gave the shadow powers to. Currently she's in solitary for attacking and injuring two guards witha weapong she some how got into the school. Oh and she refuses to eat since she believes the food is poisoned"

After a moment’s hesitation Dawn took in a great gulp of air, lifted her chin, and marched down the hallway in the direction of the dining hall. She had no idea that she was being watched for fallowed, brushing aside any thoughts on the matter as simple paranoia, though she had never been known to suffer from it before.
Dawn hesitated once more when her fingers brushed against the entrance to the hall. She could hear the din of voices coming from inside. People. People her age. Becoming acquainted, or rather, friends. This was all so new and frightening to her.
I can do it, she told herself. I am nothing if I am not strong. I must do it for my father. He wants me to get to know this people and so I shall. And I will do it with a smile.
And Dawn did smile, albeit a slightly frightened-looking smile. She pushed open the doors and moved fluidly over to the table with a gathering of students.
“Good day,” she said, sitting down at an empty spot. She nodded to each of them in turn.

Hal blinked. It felt like a shift change; the set of people at the table had changed in just a few minutes. And yet still more students were trickling in. This was definitely the place to be to meet people.
Hal smiled gently at the girl she'd seen earlier. "Hey, Dawn," she said to the girl. "It was Dawn, wasn't it?" She nodded at the short-haired girl as well. "Glad you joined us. I'm Hal McGee. How are you settling in here?"

Alice heard Jack's voice through the haze. The darkness faded and she opened her eyes to see him standing above her, hesitance in his eyes.
"Jack?" She said, her voice but a hoarse whisper.
Jack looked at her and knelt down beside her bed.
"Alice I am so sorry, you shouldn't have saved me..."
"Don't worry about it. That's what friends are for right?" She said, her mind still foggy.
"Jack, what where you doing in there anyways?"Jack paused, and Alice grew suspicious. She attempted to lift her head, but was over whelmed with pain from the back of her neck. She saw Jack flinch, and closed her eyes, trying to calm the pain. She reached back and felt the stitches, they were small, but a sign that she had been tampered with once again.
What has he done now? Alice thought to herself. She pulled away from her thoughts and looked at Jack expectantly.
"Well?"

Charlie was shocked that the girl Alice had been talking to...Hal...had spoken to her so soon. She had only intended to listen when she moved and to erase a little bit of the loneliness. She wasn't sure if she was ready to join the conversation yet. Ready or not, you've joined, silly. And don't you dare clam up. You know how bad that feels.
"Well, I'm doing about as well as anybody who woke up in extreme pain in a place they couldn't remember getting to and then finding out they'd been experimented on by a crazy doctor. In short, I'm still working on coping. You?" Charlie grinned as she answerd Hal's question in as light a tone as she could manage so as to not piss anybody off. But judging by the sudden stiffness of the girl who had just joined the table, the one Hal had just called "Dawn," Charlie hadn't avoided offending everybody.
"Oh, I'm Charlie, by the way." She made a short wave with her right hand as she spoke.

The word “friend” sliced through Jack like a battle axe. He tried not to cringe.
“Are you sure you are alright?” he asked, averting the question.
“I will live, Jack. Now answer the question.”
Jack sighed, looking defeated. “I needed painkillers. I know it sounds stupid, but those experiments really ******** me up. My whole body is killing me. I didn’t think the guards would exactly care if I asked for some aspirin or something.”
Jack flinched internally. At least it wasn’t a complete lie.
“Im sorry,” he said, and at least that was true. “No more going all Rescuers on me for now on though, alright?”
Dawn smiled widely. “Indeed, I am the one called Dawn. It is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Hal and Charlie.”
These people seemed friendly enough, but Dawn couldn’t help but stiffen at Charlie’s words. It seemed as though none of the new students enjoyed their gifts. But why? Even she could find use in her own and appreciated her father for giving it to her, however frightening it might be.
“I am coping just fine,” Dawn answered with a breezy smile, still a little confused as to why she wouldn’t be.
“How are you feeling? Have you discovered your gifts yet? They are all quite exciting, yes?”

Hal laughed at Charlie's words. "Well, when you put it like that..." she said, joking.
Hal stretched her arms. "I'm feeling pretty good, although I know I probably shouldn't. Everybody seems to be so messed up over being taken here and changed. But... I dunno." Hal leaned back in her chair. "I've always been pretty easygoing, so I guess that's why I don't think it's that bad here. Plus, it's a trip getting to read thoughts, or whatever my power really is."
Hal smiled at Charlie and Dawn. "Besides, we're juvenile delinquents with special powers. We should be running this place!"

The guard stood there a bit worried as the Doctor continues to ignore him.
"Umm sir what do you want us to do with her. I mean she's currently starving herself in her cell since she wont eat. What's more is it appears that she's starting to understand her powers and accepts them. Though she is also continusly saying that'll she'll torture and kill us all for what we did."
Putting his down the guard hopes he wont be yelled out for speaking out of turn.

In her cell Kiri has gotten her shadow to reach the lock. Reaching her own left arm up Kiri slips her finger into a small holding place in her left armpit removing a small pin. Slipping it to the shadow she works on getting it to open the lock from the inside.
"Come on, this could be my only chance to see what he did to me. I'm sure the labs near by. Which also means that the info on what he did is."
Concentrating Kiri could hear voices nearby but they werent coming in her direction.

((( Posting for Gerard))) Gerard eyed the man in front of him over the stack of documents gripped firmly between his palms. His face looked a shade redder.
"This isn't the first time a student has threatened any of us. Let the starve herself if that's what she wants. She will learn not to be so stubborn."
The guard nodded curtly, looking nervous, and began to leave the room.
"Oh," Gerard said icily, now looking back at the papers, "And do not forget that you are easier to replace then she is. If she kills you, so be it."
Gerard waved a hand, shooing off the guard that had pestered him.
