(back)
Taro still in the back of the truck would be more confused than ever. Who was this Bryant guy, why the hell were there robozombies everywhere and why had they stopped driving at ramming speed? He threw himself back into the rear of the truck with his head down, as the driver began to reverse them back the way they came in. Only when they came did he get up, recieving only a few bruises as the cab of the truck was serving as a very good cover although he did feel a bit queasy, damn landsickness. He rolled over the side of the compartment he was in, landing next to Caesar.
"Nice driving there."

The medibot slammed against the side of the truck at RAMMING SPEED, Mozz’s body jettisoning at the same moment his mold armor providing a small built of padding between him and the side of the car. He flopped back down for the pause as the car turned around before rolling at RAMMING SPEED into the other side.
The medibot got back to work.
Poor thing, it’d just fixed that guy.

Bryant looked at Aiolos and laughed as the knife impacted his chest, ripping through his jacket, but not harming him one bit. There was just the faintest tingle of the original Unity field that would impact Aiolos as it hit.
And the wall of tornado of bricks would find an interesting new direction. At his compatriots! And the way they flew, it would seem as if it was Jaknife that had attacked them this time, and not Bryant.
"What's going on is that this city is dead, and anyone here is as well."
And he reached around, and gave Aiolos a crushing bear hug, his thick arms wrapping tightly around the wiry musician and squeezing as his strength increased even as Aiolos' decreased.
At the same time, the zombie's moved forward, their arms moving in a grasping motion as they moved, their bones razor sharp.

"Oh, ******** this. Thanks for the information." Lah stood up, pulling both of the crossbows out of the straps and aiming them dead at Bryant, voice dripping with sarcasm. "You trying to say we're all dead, then?"

"Gracias." Caesar's eyes were mindful of the knife, his voice distracted. This was very not good. If the knife blow had done nothing, he doubted his pistols would. If Bryant had so much as winced at the blow Caesar would have blown it off as him being armored-- but this was something else.
So he brought up one reloaded pistol and rested its barrel on a piece of building, steadying his aim for a shot at one of the zombies--
When he pulled back around the corner to avoid a flying piece of rock. They were, once again, desperately in need of a plan.
EDIT: Caesar, back in the safety of the cover, fished briefly in his pack. Under the loot was, right where he had left it, a long length of nylon cord. Also known as parachute cord, it was tough stuff. He handed one end to Taro. "Tie this to the hitch as tightly as you can, and get ready to drive."

"Aiolos, Think about letting me move you." Jacknife shouted. He was running backward somewhat from the zombies now, still watching Bryant and Aiolos. The knife had done nothing, so it was probably safe to assume that s**t was going to go down if they had to fight this guy much more. With all of them being weaker by the minute, they needed to get out of here.
So Aiolos would find himself being lifted up into the air. If Bryant didn't let go, he would find himself being picked up as well... Unless he weighed more than two thousand pounds minus a skinny musician.
Aiolos would then find himself floating towards the door. Assuming that Bryant wasn't strangely heavy for some reason. If Bryant was still hanging on, he would be sending the two out of the palace. This nausea was really starting to suck.

Aiolos screamed. He heard his spine popping as Bryant's grip on him tightened. This was exactly why he wasn't a warrior class kind of guy.
Trying to think through the pain, Aiolos let out a strained yell, "MOVE ME, DAMMIT!"
Aiolos let go of the knife and Bryant's shoulder. His arms were still up a perfect position to fly upward and slip out of Bryant's grip. Aiolos held his breath, trying to give more room between him and his crusher's body so he didn't snap in half.

As the other man moved around for a shot, Taro reached his left hand into his right holster and retrieved his bolter. He was considering crossing over the small space betweenn the wall and the front of the truck when the driver pulled back and a rock whizzed back. Close call. The man then handed him a cord with instruction to tie it on back and prepare for takeoff.
Now Taro wasn't one to take orders sitting down, but at a time like this he wasn't really in his element, so he decided at the moment to shutup and follow along. He needed to get his land legs before he started even trying to take command. Damn, this felt worse than then last time he had been ashore, he usually was quick to adjust to the unwavering earth.
Shaking away this strange feeling, he ran over to the other side of the truck, poping off one or two shots towards a few robozombie heads before laying down low to tie the hitch. Once the job was done he would move his body back around to saftey and give the man a thumbs-up sign.
An interesting tidbit for any of these robozombie to get hit with his quick shots. Instead of piercing right through their heads the bolt would burst in an endothermic reaction freezing their whole head and all the wires within it.

Funny you should mention that. There was a moment, just a moment where it looked like Bryant might lift off with Aiolos; because he wasn't releasing him, in fact he was crushing him even further. But the moment ended with a deadening thump, and Bryant was as rock steady as ever.
He looked at Lah. "I'm saying that everyone is as good as dead. Or don't you understand Gaian, little man. Run, while you can...and you might survive."
Meanwhile, the rocks were still flying around the room, aiming to hit whoever they could.
The zombies were still coming forward, until one zombie got hit, and then it went down. (14)
And then the earth moved.
As a full scale earthquake rocked the palace and beyond, the truck would be immobilzed as it began to sink into the earth as well as the building and anything else.

"Then damn-well come with us. You're writing my paycheck, and I got a daughter relyin' on that!" Lah got thumped with more rocks and bent down again, trying to make himself as small a target as possible.
And then the earthquakes hit.
Lah was rolled to the side and slid a bit, before he regained his footing and got back to a crouched ********>

Oh sure, let Lah go. Aiolos sneered on the inside. He would've on the outside if it weren't for the fact he was getting CRUSHED right now. Now that all the options were pretty much gone but...
Well, if he let Lah go... Maybe a little reasoning would get Aiolos out of this mess. Bryant was just a man, after all. A very angry and increasingly powerful man, but man nonetheless.
"Hey..." Aiolos breathed quickly and weakly, "Sorry bout' stabbing you and all... Panic, you know? You let that guy go... Migh' as well let me die with a chance... Please?"
He coughed, getting crushed and being in the anti field: not a good combination.

Earthquakes!?
There's not a RAMMING SPEED joke big enough for that!
It was time to just cut and run. There was just no fighting a man who couldn't be hurt, and who could just negate anything that Jacknife did. He was just outclassed, and it ******** sucked.
Oh well, there was no shame in losing to someone who couldn't be touched.
There was shame in leaving someone who had saved his a** more than once behind though. So Jacknife cut and ran for the truck now sinking. He tried to swirl the rocks out of his path, but a few chips and chunks whacked him decently hard. Luckily he had that whole moss armor s**t going on, so what hurt him made him stronger... or it stronger... whatever.
Jacknife grabbed Mozz out of the back of the truck with a sweep of his mind. Unconscious bodies didn't resist much. He caught the green bundle up on his back, holding it half with his hand and half with his mind and using the thing to block any bricks coming at his back as he ran in a crouch for the door.
"I gotcha buddy."

Caesar then rapidly began to prep the rope, digging far back into his memories. It had been years, and the parachute cord was an unusual material for him to work with. It was, however, by far the strongest.
And then he fell against he wall as the earth moved against his feet. He had resumed his knotting when he realized the truck had dropped into an immobilizing hole. It was an impressive vehicle, but it wasn't going to learn to climb any time soon.
He unceremoniously dropped the half-completed lasso, feeling drained in so many ways. This fight was looking like a losing one. Regardless, he then drew his guns: The zombies would chase them even if they fled at this point; they needed to be put down. He stayed flush to the wall, not exposing his head to get a full range of view: he only needed to see the ends of the line of robozombies, meaning he could mostly still be shielded from flying rocks. He took aim at this zombie, carefully, and discharged a single shot for its skull.

As he leaned against the truck, the earth began to rumble and his landsickness got a little bit worse. His back support began to sink and he removed his weight from it and shoved off a bit. Whatever they were going to do with the truck was hopeless now.
Taro decided it to go back to the tried and true method of running, which began with a little bloodshed or oilshed in this case. He eased his body around the edge of the now lowered truck as one guy began his departure. Focussed on taking aim around a corner he did not notice a hitchhiker depart with the psion. Instead he kept his focuss on making a clean getaway. He quickly moved from his end of the truck to the wall, popping off two shots this time. Both bolts were aimed at the chest of a seperate machine, aiming for a larger target to compensate for the way his movement and sped of firing might make his aim a little bit off.
He did not want to find out if he was faster than a robozombie, so he needed to take them out quick.

Bryant simply looked at Lah with a look of utter despair and sadness it was hard not to feel empathy for him. "I am not coming back." But the idea of the daughter did soften him, and he looked back to Aiolos and squeezed again tightly before finally releasing him, with more than a few broken ribs most likely.
Everyone who was at five for the Unity fields or below would feel racking pain as if they were dying from the inside out. And then another quake rattled the earth.
Another one of the zombie's fell as it seemed some of Bryant's determination had faded. The bricks slammed even more forward towards their targets, swirling faster and harder than they had before.
"FLEE OR FACE ME NOW LITTLE MEN!!!"
