Emily made a point of not looking up after taking in the spectacle when eight of the missing nine first entered, instead keeping her eyes focused primly on her plate. She wasn't sure if she would be inclined to tell them off or laugh at how the perfect dinner had gone so overwhelmingly awry. She would have been appalled at Adrienne's choice of dress if it had been anyone else, but it was not anyone else; it was Adrienne. As such, she could only be thankful she hadn't brought her cat to the table. As for Madeline and Cecilia, they were being as close to perfect angels as they could be expected to get. Naomi looked small and very lost, sitting as silently as Emily herself in a sea of chatter and rude remarks. As for the stepbrothers... well, she wasn't here to enjoy herself. She just had to get through the dinner. Or... did she, really?
"Mother?" she asked. Her voice was fairly quiet, but somehow floated easily across the table to reach it's target. "I'm sorry to leave..." Barely a hint of sarcasm in those words. "But I must ask to be excused. I'm not feeling well." She thought about bringing up the fact that her stepbrothers' manners hadn't done much for her appetite, either, but immediately decided against it. She didn't want to pick a fight, after all; she just wanted to get away.
Her mother's eyes widened with concern, and, after a moment, she nodded reluctantly. Emily got gracefully to her feet and swept out of the dining room without another word, pausing only to touch her favorite sister, Naomi, lightly on the head; she understood only too well how the younger girl was feeling. The next second she was free. Free! The rest of the night was hers, to do with what she pleased. Perhaps she could work on her novel; yes, that sounded like just the thing.

Naomi watched silently as Emily asked to be excused, saying how she was not feeling well. Ah, how clever! Why didn't Naomi herself think of that one? Of course, Emily looked almost to be telling the truth; from what she heard from random house servants here and there, the girl had had a bad day at work, and had passed out fast asleep in her room. She needed this break, for she had less time than anyone to prepare for this dinner.
Naomi smiled kindly at Emily as the elder one passed her by with a light touch on the head. Out of all the sisters, these two were teh most alike. Both were usually quiet unless having something important to say, and both were probably feeling very, very lost. She'd brave it for her sister, for all her sisters.
Speaking of which, what the HECK was Adrienne wearing?! While she understood that this sister liked this style, this wasn't a funeral; there was no death. Or, was there...........perhaps for Daddy?
Wait, for Naomi, a daddy that she never knew...
Mentally shaking the thought out of her head, she looked about and tried to absorb in more detail; she'd need it to survive and find who is friend and foe. Some of the siblings were getting along well, others weren't. It appeared that this Domanik was being a pain in the a** on complete purpose. Naomi had a feeling she woudlnt' get along with this one at all, so best to avoid him.
Alyekzander was being neutral, and slightly sarcastic (no doubt scared from the tickle attack before).
Meanwhile Niklos, the youngest one, was actually trying to be nice (but not after sticking smelly feet on the table; a classic way to make an akward silence) and was talking to Madeline. This boy seemed relaxed and uncaring on how he looked; most boys his age were. Mark was being nice as well, talking to Adrienne. Cecelia was laughing about something about Domanik said, and was getting a warning glare from Mom.
Then there was one boy missing; that was bound to make the father angry. At a glance, she could see the man's stern glare go to the window, and Naomi focused back at the table to avoid a stare. This was so weird...he had no daddy-like feel to him at all. He had yet to even say anything to them. So, 11 kids and two parents.
Overall, not too chaotic...for now. Naomi decided to mabye be the silent observer for now; she wasn't great with starting conversations herself, and she was already rejected once by one of the boys.

"I'm feeling ill too." spat Domanik. And he was. This whole cozy little 'family' had him feeling quite sick. Before anyone could protest (not that anyone was likely to) he rose from his chair with a fluid motion and then made his way back to his room, careful to avoid the sister who'd preceded him from the dining room. He had some thinking to do.
Markus wasn't unduly affected by Madelines careless words. It was only banter, and in fact it heartened him to think that Niklos and madeline were having a relatively civil conversation. "Well, Miss Adrienne, would you prefer a tour after dinner or tomorrow morning? Well, we'll hve to do some of it tomorrow anyway. Can't show you the outsides when it's dark. Less impressive that way." Then, he smiled micheviously as he said, "Besides, you'll want to change before going out of doors, with a gorgeous outfit like that." he smirked then turned back to his food.

She decided right then and there that she liked him; a compliment was a compliment, no matter who it was from, and Markus seemed to definitely have escaped all the Beauvais-itis, the sad affliction that seemed to be plaguing the male species as of late. Grinning from ear to ear, Adrienne batted her eyelashes idiotically at him and laughed. "Why thank you, sirrah; you are obviously a man of good taste. Whenever's good for you is good for me, since you're being so magnanimous as to show me around. Muah ha. Magnanimous. Been looking for a chance to use that in a sentance." She did a weird little sitting-down dance that was made all the more weird because only the upper half of her body could be seen.

Cecelia eyed her sister, raising her eyebrows. "Well, that was an interesting dance. Show me later, kay?" Cecelia joked. She had started eating already, and was half-way done.

Naomi had to force herself not to roll her eyes and Domanik got up and sarcasticly excused himself. The absolute NERVE of that complete idiot! He was mocking the one who left because she ACTUALLY wasn't all there today, and yet he forces himself out with the largest smug look on his face. It made the youngest girl want to take his brainless head and ram it into a wall over and over again til it split open.......she took another bite of food as he left, to avoid giving him a stare of ultimate death.
But her strangely evil thoughts were distracted as she watched Adrienne do a little dance at her seat, a reaction of one of hte boy's comments. Naomi smiled for the second time that dinner, a goregous, adorable one: well, at least SOME men here had some civilness left in them. This Markus guy didn't seem too bad. Then again, that was what she said about Alyekzander before he threw him off. Perhaps her timing had just been bad: being in the prescence of three women before probably scared him. ANd men didn't like to show their fear, and replaced it with the "Grr-Imma-tough-MAN!" attitude.

Niklos peered at the youngest of the girls. The only one who hadnt spoken. As he watched she smiled. And it blew him away. He had to turn away and look down at his food because he knew his face was turning red. "Uh on second thought..Id like to cancel that tour for another date M'am. I have unpacking to do.." He flashed a smile at her and quickly got up from the table. Grabbing his shoes and almost running from the room. He mentally kicked himself for not speaking to that girl. "Oh Well" He sighed. Throwing his bag over his shoulder and making his way to his room for the night.

Madeline shrugged. "Okay." She stood up. "Well, since everyone else is leaving!" She leaned down and kissed her mother's cheek. "I'll go turn in for the night." She kissed her step-father's cheek and left the dining room.

Naomi noticed that one of the boys (the youngest one, Niklos being the name) suddenly had a desire to leave as well, only he looked a bit........panicked? Nervous? Wait, his face, it was actually getting a nice red blush.
But why?
She had not enough time to figure it out, for the boy had already left the room, mentioning to Madeline something about another date and canceling the tour of the house with her. Wait....was it something Naomi herself did? Now she was confused; boys were impossible to understand....
Seeing Madeline leave as well, Naomi wondered if she should turn in as well. The younger girl had already devoured the main part of dinner and the appetizers, and was now into some icecream cake. Mmmm, and it was chocolate, her favorite! Deciding not to let it go to waste, she finished the piece, savoring every bite. It was like love at first bite, although she did not let it show on the outside.
"Thank you very much for the nice dinner, but I think I'll go ahead and turn in for the night. Is that ok, Mom?" she asked her mom, who gave a nod. So Naomi left very quickly, for she didn't want to have to say anything to the man of the house. She couldn't do it, she just couldn't! No no no no NO!
She went up the stairs, holding a plate of.......two more pieces of the chocolate ice cream cake. After all, she saw a mini fridge/freezer in each room earlier, with a sticky note on it stating:
"We don't believe in leftovers for the next meal, so if you see any food or desert you like, feel free to take a bit up here for later! For it might not be here tomorrow, so grab some on a plate and take it with you. Believe me, it does us a favor, and helps us know the preference of each member of this family. smile
Chef"
Hey, this stuff was good; Naomi was NOT about to waste such a thing as awesome chocolate ice cream cake. It was like her fuel times 100! Grr, Mom probably mentioned that to her husband as well....

Cecelia watched as mostly everyone started leaving, and grimaced to herself. Why was she the one who resented formal things the most, and yet she was not the first to leave? Cecelia herself stood up, and thanked her mother and father for the nice meal, and left the room without another word. She really disliked these things, and wanted out of her dress, and into her pajamas.
Upon reaching her room, Cecelia found freedom. She slipped in quietly, and out of her dress. She stepped into the shower, and quite a while after she came out clean and refreshed. Cecelia cursed to herself as she changed into her pajamas (which happened to be sweat pants and a tank top), about how she was supposed to get her essay written. She sighed and went to her laptop, and pulled her hair into a ponytail, before starting to write.

Markus noted the steady flow of departures, and decided the time had come to make his own exit. "My dear Miss Adrienne, it seems you are the only one of my new sisters to put up with the nonsense my brothers and I dish out. I shall take you on a tour of the house tomorrow, as your prize. Feel free to invite any of your sister who want to come. We'll start tomorrow, right after breakfast, is that alright?" He looked to his remaining brother. "Will you join us as well, Alykzander, or do you have something else to do?"

Sometimes Alyekzander honestly could not tell if his brother wanted him to answer truthfully or just knew he would agree if asked. The truth was he had absolutely nothing to do tomorrow morning that could not be postponed. The only work he did was for his father and at his own convenience. To decline would simply be rude. "It would be my pleasure." He replies, even as these thoughts continue to process. "We would not wish the nonsense quota to be lacking, after all." Briefly Alyekzander wondered if Emilie would even be awake for breakfast. The thought was quickly discarded. The fewer the better, after all.

Naomi entered her room quietly shut the door behind her. How many had left the table she did not know. Turning on her radio to a normal volume for a moment, a rock song played as the girl sat the cake in the fridge and slipped out of her dress and shoes, hanging the dress back on the hanger and putting it in the closet.
One of the bright points of just finishing the unpacking and settling down, is that she knew where everything was for the time being. She put on a tank top and plad pajama bottoms, the shirt being orange and the plad being red and blue. Shutting the curtains and window and turning off the radio, she laid on the bed and let out a sigh of relief; it had gone well. No tears, no yelling, no food fight......
Was this a good omen, or just her luck used all up at this one meal?
Heh, either way, she was ok. Her santuary was yet to be needed. In a good mood, she turned on her computer and began to surf the internet; it was still early, and she took some time to get her thoughts together before her next vlog she'd make tonight. She plugged in her headphones and let music fill her ears, but quietly for now.

Cecelia realized she wasn't getting anything done. Nor was she trying. There were just too many distractions in her room. Grumbling to herself, Cecelia took a piece of paper and a pen, along with her copy of Macbeth, and headed out of her room. There was bound to be a place she could do her work in piece. One of her sister's rooms? Nah, still too distracting. Some deserted room in the house? Now there was an idea. The only problem? Where to find such a room?
Cecelia wandered the hallways, eventually coming to a nice, deserted, and of course, clean, room. Cecelia looked over it, inside it a couch, a couple chairs, and a table. Nothing really to distract her. Though, instead of sitting on the nice, white couch, she placed herself in a far away corner, so she wasn't tempted to do the childish thing by jumping on the couch and matching chairs. Cecelia sighed before getting to work, writing in her neat printing.

"Yeah, that's great. Thank you." Adrienne's gaze flicked to Alyekzander. Oh, he was a cool one. It was obvious. She'd have to come up with a nickname for him, too. She went through them in her head. Markus wasn't getting a nickname, because she liked him; Alyekzander she'd get back to; Domanik was Sunshine; Maksim was My Lord; and Niklos? Something about hair, because his was fantastic. She grinned. Apart from her little outburst earlier, this didn't actually seem too bad. Sort of. At least the food was good.
A minute later, she looked towards her mother. She really didn't watnt o sit through this without any of her sisters, and they'd all ditched her. "Sorry, Maman, but could I be excused, too? I need to see to my baby." She was refering to her cello, but let them think what they want. Adrienne waited until her mother nodded, then stood. "Markus, seriously, thank you." She nodded to the rest of the assembly, and waltzed out of the room.
