Pili made her way back to the boy and stood in front of him.

"What do ya' think?" she said as she spinned around. She smiled and giggled abit.

"Oh, and I think I could use that ride home..."

((Oh god, I've been so busy with uni work, it's been MOST unfunny. Anyhoo, I'm back now biggrin ))

Devasad felt a little something in his throat. Also most spluttering, he managed to croak out, "Looks very nice 'pon you." Goddamn it, was he falling for her? Gods, he didn't even know her. He didn't even know how old she was.

"Ride home. Right. Yes..", Devasad said, remembering what she had said. "Erm... Mabel... is right over there." Quickly, he stood up, and started walking toward the Leaking Keg, where he had tethered up Mabel before.

Pili joged after him with a smile on her face. "Where do you live? I'm in Saphire Springs. Just me and my da', mom's the dragon, ya' know. What are you? A human? Elf? Maybe a halfling?" And there she was again, talking and talking and saying nothing.

Devasad gave the girl a funny look. "You can't tell by looking at me? I'm human. Alas, no pointy ears or stubbly feet for me." Reaching the horse, he batted her mane, and gave her a spare apple from the few kept behind. Mabel seemed to appreciate this, neighing at him and showing her teeth. He liked to think that she was smiling, and not just being an idiot.

Swinging himself onto the carts seat, he took hold of the reins and waited for the girl to get on.

"I'm by the Sapphire Springs by the way, further down from where you live I think. Closer to this town anyway. I live with an old guy on his apple farm, Haskill be his name. I help him out when its harvest, he gives me board and a bit of money. I try to refuse the money, but he still gives it to me, saying iI'm the son he never had."

Devasad laughed. "Have to say, I'm fond of the old codger."

"That sounds nice," Pili said with a smile as she jumped into the air and landed soundlessly next to Devasad.
"My da is probably worried about me. He doesn't like me bein' out by meself. Even though he well knows I can give any ruff-nik a beatin'. I think he jus' misses me." Pili sighed and glanced over at the man, "So, you're a... oh what do they call it... a, ummm... oh! A mercenary of sorts?"

"Heh, you could call it that. When harvest period is over, i always set off on... 'expeditions', as Haskill likes to call them. I just go out, exploring, helping people I meet along the way. In return, they put me up for a few nights or so, and provide food." Devasad said.

Giving the reins a quick flick, Mabel started to plod forward, the cart lurching as the wheels moved over potholes and stones

"So.. you're a half-dragon, half-human eh? Ain't seen many of you about. Only other one I seen was about two years ago, and he was dead. Stoned to death by some backwards village on the plains." Putting the reins to one side, he reached back into the basket that he kept behind, and tossed an apple to the woman, before taking one for himself. Biting into it with a crunch, he ate while looking into the sky.

"Pili, wasn't it? Don't think I told you my name. It's Devasad." Looking down, he looked at Pili. "Pleased to meet you." He said with a grin.

Pili wrapped her wings around her body when Devasad told about the dragonhalfling that stoned to death. She accepted the apple and bit into, letting the juice dripple out the sides of her mouth. She licked around her mouth, her long tounge easily doing the task.
"What kinda expeitions? Do you live on apples?"

(I'm so sorry for my extending absence! D: I've been so caught up in school and work and rehab that I haven't found time to RP. But, exciting news: I can walk again! biggrin Hopefully, now, I'll have more time.)

"As if I had a choice," Astraea remarked, trying to brush off her appreciation like a pest. It was buzzing around like an annoying fly, and refused to give up, despite her (metaphoric) swatting. "Lead the way," she said in a huff, cracking her knuckles impatiently. "My feet are at your command."

((I forgot all about that fact. Nice to see you aren't a cripple anymore. Oh, wait. You still are. Hahahah. Sorry, I'm bored))

Cyrith chuckled, becoming used to the happy sound. It almost made him nervous, but not anymore. This girl was the first person in forever to make him feel human, although she was still annoying as hell. Walking over, he helped pull her up off the ground, via grabbing her arms. "Well, we better move out now. I'll make sure you don't trip, you carry Slash. We need to go at least five miles before we set up camp." He started walking, his hand on her arm to guide over roots and junk.

(Touché XD )

Five miles? At the rate they were going? Perhaps they'd reach their destination in the next millenia. It wouldn't do as much to her appearance as his, but what did she care? At least she wouldn't have to look at the sagging, wrinkled mask of flesh that would be his old man face. she suppressed the urge to laugh at the vibrant imagery in her mind, although a smirk managed to squirm its way through her sealed lips.

Registering his command to hold the bird, she reached her hand out towards the human and left it hang for a moment. Sure enough, a gigantic, leathery limb enclosed firmly around her hand, followed by another. The weight of the bird was, surprisingly, a lot. She wasn't quite sure how he stayed airborne with his design most agreeable with gravity. Then again, with such a big hawk, there was usually a wing span to match. Carefully, so as not to receive an annoyed peck from a beak that was surely as large and powerful as the rest of the raptor, Astraea brought her hand to her shoulder and prompted the bird to hop off. It did, and as an added bonus, without a peck.

"Nice bird," she commented. "Animals have a tendency to... not like me. Have you ever been mauled by a bear before? I have. Twice. And it's not as though I was disturbing them either. Animals seek me out, just to harrass me. And although some of my fellow elves think it's amusing, I would much rather switch places with them right before the crunch of the bear's bone-snapping jaws."

Cyrith kept walking, but thought back to all the times he had been attacked. "No. Never any bears. They tend to tolerate me. Now, I've been attacked by two wolves, five cougars, and 17 different platypuses that all seemed out for my blood. Don't let their funny appearance fool you. Those platypi are dangerous creatures. After all, their beaks are filled with sharp teeth."

((I have no idea, but it sounds cool))

((It's French -pronounced too-shay- It's used when you concede to another person. Originated in fencing, I think... : ))

"Oh dear, you sound like an expert on the subject. Pardon me; it wasn't my place to educate you on the horrors of wild animals. Especially of platypi. I assume you're aware that their claws are poisonous, yes? It would be positively dreadful if one were to scratch you." Dreadful was dripping with sarcasm, but she grinned to sugarcoat it.

((I know what touche is. Used in fencing, yes, when one scores a point right after the other one. I was talking about the platypus and its razor sharp teeth))

Cyrith snorted. Telling him that they were poisonous was like saying the sky was blue. He knew that one, really well. "Yeah, they are. I lost feeling in both my legs at one point, after being scratched by them. Was that way for a couple weeks, along with a fever, delusions, and voices in my head."

Like this one?

"Yeah, like that one. Wait, that wasn't you, was it?"

((Haha, my bad. I thought you were commenting on my chat. Guess who feels dumb? XD And I think platypi do have teeth... But don't take my word on it.))

She had been about to remark with something to the effect of "bet you've never been attacked by a mongoose" but she stopped mid-sentence. Speaking of delusions... Staring (not that he could see it) at him blankly (or at least the direction of his voice), Astraea asked, "Have you encountered any platypi lately?"
PostPosted: Thu Mar 20, 2008 11:18 am

Cyrith glanced at her with a strange look. Platypi.....HERE? What kind of moron was she? "You do know that the platypus is a water-bearing creature, right? And we happen to be landlocked as well? How do you figure that they could attack anytime soon? I mean, after I was attacked last time, I avoided the plagued water like it was the devil."

Sighing and putting an arm on his shoulder(?) soothingly, she replied simply, "I was referring to the fact that you just had a side-conversation with someone, not me. And, unfortunately, there's no one else around. I was just curious if some sort of poison was making you delusional. But, since that's not the case, I'll just assume you're mad."
