((Alright, I'm sure nobody wants to hear about why I was gone, so I won't bother.

Long story short: I'm really lazy.

Anyway, I think I know what's going on, so let's give this a swing.))

Francis stood awkwardly among the group as people came and went, vanished and reappeared. He'd been here way too long. He should have come back by now. Unless he was dead, or in a coma. Either way it wasn't good.

The Faeries were mentioned several times in the conversations that drifted through the back of his mind as he worried about his physical body and future, whether he would be stuck here or get to go home. "C'mon," He growled to himself, "Wake up, please get me out of here."

---

"Where are you going?" Rowan demanded as he slagged behind a determined Willow. He was tired and out of breath from every attempt to make her stop. He'd torn down trees, but she burned right through them, created winds to move them, or buried them in the ground.

"Have to find the others." She replied blankly. The trees were thinning, Rowan was out of ammo to stop her.

"Hey," Rowan said sternly, grabbing her by the upper arm, "You're gonna let me do the talking." He commanded. "I'm gonna explain this. We already lost one and your style of recruiting just going to make things worse." Willow remained blank to his speech. "Sometimes I think you want to die." He added before stepping in front of her and continuing to the clearing where he could hear voices.

"Well, I don't." Willow whispered, standing still on the path, "I'm, I'm just scared. I don't know what's gonna happen." She glanced up at his back through her hair. He'd stopped walking and turned halfway around.

"You've got a funny way of showing it." He said plainly. Why did he have to be such a nice guy? "Let's go. I'm still doing the talking though." Silently, Rowan stepped out of the tree cover and halfway into the clearing. Willow stood by his shoulder, poised at the ready.

T.K. turned as two faeries entered the clearing before she had gotton a reply. she looked to them, her hands still on her bow and arrow, hopeing that they weren't the sort of faeries that would judge her for her sister dryads decisions. she coolly tied her long green hair back in a leather thong, and turned to face them, legs crossed and bow and arrow in her lap. "okay, so who are you now?" she asked, slightly annoyed at the fact that so many people seemed to be joining them here. "are you more of the earthlings who have come here in their sleep?"

Aidan didn't even blink at the arrow in his face or the strange green-haired girl and her strange demands. If this is a dream, there's really no point in trying to make sense of anything. he thought.

He had a lovely response all planned out inside his head when his attention and the girl's were drawn away by the arrival of two more very odd-looking people. Aidan's amusement only grew, This is the most populated dream I've ever had. he thought cheerfully.

((actually, the thing with kat only took about a second in 'dream-time', and she stayed completely normal. i know i probably didn't make that clear in my post, but please could you edit that?
ill delete this post tomorrow.))

Francis glanced at the object of the green haired girl's attention. The faeries. He'd never been more happy to see them, or ever at all. "Oh my God, thank you." He said to the sky before bounding up to Rowan. "Listen," He explained quietly, "What happens if I'm hit by a car in my world and I've been here for way, way too long? Am I dead?" He was becoming more and more desperate, "You gotta tell me. You have to know."

Rowan blinked as though he'd been smacked in the face at the small assult of questions berating. "C-Car?" He muttered. "N-no, I don't know." He tapped Francis' shoulders and poked his forehead, "You don't feel dead." He stated uncertainly. Taking a half step around the human who now gaped at Willow for an answer, Rowan addressed the other voice he had heard. "I assure you, milady, though I don't know quite what an earthling is, I am not one, neither is she." He gestured shortly over his shoulder. "We are true born Faye."

Aidan frowned. This was getting a little too weird so his mind went to the one thing he could make some sense of. "Wait," he said, looking at Rowan and Willow. "Fae? As in faeries? What are you doing in my dream?"

"Give the boy a prize," said Aria dryly. "You just asked the million dollar question." He eyes stayed on the two fairies as she spoke. She was glad to see Rowan again, as much as she hated to admit it; this was an undeniably bizarre situation, and his very presence was... soothing. Willow, of course, was a different matter entirely, but a few moments of observation told her that the faerie seemed to be holding herself back. Thank god for small favors.

She finally actually turned and looked at the blue-haired boy. "We are all having the same dream, and this world is apparently real, at least in some capacity. When we wake up, we disappear in this world, one that has a sort of fantasy backdrop, complete with faeries, elves, and our very own Gandalf," she added, shooting Monollius a grin, "When we go to sleep, we return." She shrugged. "We are supposedly part of some prophecy that says we'll rescue this place from dark spirits. That's about it."

Aidan listened intently to the winged girl's explanation, shrugging off her sarcasm.

"That's...interesting...and explains quite a lot. I've never considered that we could actually go to another world while we dream. But...what happens to our bodies in the...well, the real world, I suppose for lack of a better name? My brother shares a room with me, so he'll be really freaked out if I vanish from my bed when I sleep."

Aria smiled slightly, but there wasn't any real humor in the expression. "I assume we stay there, as I keep getting shaken awake."

"I don't think you quite grasp the word 'dream.'" Francis stated, complete with quotation fingers. "You're still in bed at home. The body you have here, I'll take a swing, is your mind, probably your inner self, or what you want yourself to look like and be."

"Didn't know you were such a philosopher." Willow muttered into her shoulder, glancing at the human behind Rowan's back.

"I get a couple good ones here and there." Francis replied bluntly.

"Alright," Rowan began, "I understand that assisting creatures who, in yours minds, don't exist seems like a waste of time, and useless, and 'why should you care anyway?' But, I assure you that if I were in your world in my sleep and your world was in crisis, I would do everything in my power to help you." Here he paused for a second to allow his words to sink in.

Francis believed him. He barely knew Rowan, but did believe he'd sacrifice himself. Willow drew designs in the dirt with her foot; she didn't want to listen but, though she didn't show it, hung on every word.

"Before you refuse anything," Rowan began again before there could be any rebuttal, "Think of everyone native here. Think of mothers too scared to send their children out to play. Think of all the Faye who can't eat, can't sleep, can't do anything because they're so scared they won't see tomorrow." Willow looked up at his back. "To you, we may not seem like we matter or that we even exist, and to tell the truth," He sighed softly, "We thought the same of you. But regardless, we do exist, at least here, we are alive, and we can very much die just as well. Can you live with something like that, know that you let a whole world die when you could have done something?" Rowan bowed his head. "Thank you."

Francis stared at the ground about twenty feet away. His lips were slightly parted. This place was real, whether it seemed so to him or not, maybe it wasn't so terrible if he stayed here. Then the feeling came, he'd felt it before, the sensation that he was dissolving, disappearing. He was waking up.

*~*

"Oh thank God you're alive." Francis could hear his mother's voice. He was suddenly aware that his head felt like it was split. Slowly opening his eyes, the glow of halogen sterile hospital lights surrounded him. His mother's face, wrinkled with worry and blotched with tears, smiled down at him. He could see his sister and father stood beside her, marginally less blotchy and wrinkled, but still glad to see him alive.

Normally Francis would be happy to be back with his family and finally awake, but why at this moment was he only worried for a world filled with creatures of folklore?

Doragon listened to the conversation quietly. He flopped down on his back, still listening. It was getting pretty late. "I think that all Fae that can fight should help these Earthlings, along with elves. We need as many as possible, anyone who believes these few humans can do it with out help is a selfish p***k. We all need to help them, and they all need to help us." Doragon sat up to a sitting position as he said the last sentence.

"He didn't say they'd be doing this on their own." Willow growled. There was a small tremor under the earth as she stepped forward with intent to let loose a strip of fire. "The fact that anyone could think Rowan would suggest that is simply-"

Rowan put an arm out in front of her. "We agreed." He whispered over his shoulder to her. He turned back to Doragon, "I understand your concern and the suggestion is wise, but," He glanced to Willow.

"Titanya has taken all the Faye into hiding except for us and a few other scouts on a separate squad." She finished Rowan's sentence, but knew it would bring trouble.

"We haven't heard from the other scouts in day," Rowan let his arm down, "I wouldn't be surprised if they were dead."

Aidan felt the first pricks of annoyance in the pit of his stomach at his rather rude welcome, but opted to simply take a deep breath and say nothing. After all, he was sure that none of the others were any less confused, which made them more frustrated and more likely to lash out.

Instead, he directed his entire attention to Rowan's speech and then Doragon's, his mind racing. "Well," he said slowly, thinking out loud, "I don't have any real reservations about helping you, though I would like a bit more information about what we're up against, exactly. Also, I know I'm carrying this weapon, but I have no clue how to use it so I don't think I'll be of any use without help."

Aria nodded. "Ditto. I have no idea how to use these," she said, jerking her finger over her shoulder, indicating her wings, "And whatever I did before with the..." she trailed off, trying to find the right words to describe what had happened with the black snake. She shrugged helplessly at Rowan, unconsciously drawing the reassurance to continue from his presence. After all, he'd seen. He'd know what she was talking about, even if she wasn't completely coherent. "The thing with the snake suddenly being ash. I have no idea how that happened; next time I could blow one of you up, or even hurt myself. It seems that we're a bit of a liability. With the obvious exception of the Arch Sage," she added, glancing apologetically at him, "And TK, I suppose. They know what they're doing."

T.K. looked from one person to another as the conversations continued around her. her thoughts kept going back to her theory of how these other people got here. and hadn't she disappeared when Kat had woken up? she was still here.. well, don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
she looked over to Aria, the winged girl, as she mentioned her name, and smiled slightly. looking to Aidan, she said "you'll probably know how to use it in your subconscious, but if its sword training you need.." she gave a slight, devilish smile, that for a moment showed the wild beast within her civilized shell, before retreating as quickly as it had came. "then why not look towards the only practicing Wardancer in the forest?"
