Luke didn't sleep as solidly as he had before he had woken and lay down in a proper bed, which was strange really, since he would have thought he would sleep better in a bed than an armchair, but he was so used to sleeping lightly so he could hear what his father was doing.
After a while he snuck out of bed and sat down in a chair by the window. Opening the window up to the dawn of the new day he sighed. Smoggy as always, he thought with a smile.
Hearing someone on the stairs outside he turned to face the door, half expecting trouble, though what kind of trouble he didn't know.

"Oh. That. Well, I really don't know. What do you watn to do?" Arba asked, masking the smug tone of his words. Really, it was so easy to get a rise out of Dani sometimes, especially when she was tired. Yawning, Arba stretched his legs, and trotted in a little circle, "Well? Make up your mind already!"
Dani glared at the wolf, fuming. "I asked you first! So you have to decide!" She stamped her foot on the ground, throwing her hands into the air as she began working towards a temper tantrum. Arba could be so frustrating sometimes. She could swear he was doing it on purpose, just to annoy her.

Alirialie opened her eyes. It was difficult to do so, as Walter was still asleep, but she managed. She moved her head slightly, and noticed both Luke and Rhynll sitting in the chair by the window and staring apprehensively at the door.
"What's going on, Aliri?" came Walter's voice, still thick with sleep. It was suddenly much easier to keep her eyes open.
"I don't know," she murmured.

Hearing Walter wake up he glanced towards him with a half smile before turning his gaze back to the door.
"Someone's coming up the stairs," he said softly. He couldn't help himself but his imagination kept conjouring up images of his drunken father stumbling up the stairs of their home, looking for him. He had no idea what happened between his brother and father, wasn't entirely sure he wanted to know, but he hoped it wasn't possible for it to be him coming up the stairs.

Arba sat on his haunches, wagging his tail as he smiled up at Dani. "Oh, but I really don't know what we should do. My mind is muddled because we slept late."
"Slept late?!? You idiot, we only had a few hours of sleep! And you were supposed to wake me up earlier!" Dani shrieked, walking as far away from Arba as she could and sitting down with her back to him, sticking out her lower lip in a defiant manner.

Jane knocked on the door of Luke and Wink's room. "You two awake? I've got some breackfast." She shifted her weight from one foot to the other as she waited for the door to open.

Luke gave a sigh of relief when he recognised James's voice and smiled. The mention of breakfast made him realize he was slightly hungry, not a lot but more from a knowledge that he had to eat, so he slid off the chair, Rhynll climbing from his lap to his shoulder, and went to the door.
Opening it, he stepped aside to allow James and his daemon in. "I wonder where Dani and Rayne are," he said, before glancing to Walter, "Are they coming with us? Rayne kind of freaks me out but I like Dani."

Walter blinked. "I don't-"
Alirialie put both of her enormous front paws up on Walter's bed. "She was leaving. Last night when we came in."
Walter reached out to stroke her ears absently. "And you didn't say anything because..." He raised a dark eyebrow.
"You had other things on your mind," Alirialie said dryly.
Walter's face was touched briefly by his small, secret smile; the next second he was up and heading for the door. He nodded his thanks to James and took the tray. "Did you already eat?"

Jane nodded. "I have. I can find the others while you eat. That way we can plan the day." She got up and walked to the window. She opened it up and looked outside. She saw the girl Dani sitting outside and looked back to the others. "Found one. You want me to call her in? It's Dani."
