Jacob looked after addie as she ran off, wondering why she seemed in such a rush to leave them all there. he looked to the others and shrugged, figuring she'd be back after getting the files to the earl. Before any of them could sit down though, Two akuma seized Liv and began to drag her away.

"HEY!" Jacob shouted, and turned to order them to stop, but froze in panic as he saw Dr. Kaito standing behind him. Isaiah had already been injected with a sedative and was now also being carried off by a pair of akuma. "W-what the ********!?" jacob back away from the doctors with a sadistic smile.

"my my...little jacob finished a whole mission....now be a good boy and come along...you have another mission right away..." the doctor ordered, a cruelty in his eyes that made even jacob quake with fear.

Jacob stared at the needle in the doctors hand. needles...he hated needles. Jacob turned to take off running, hoping to find safe haven with addie or the earl....they wouldn't let Kaito p***k him with that evil instrument...would they?

((I really... really thought it was strawberry ice cream. REALLY REALLY. ;_; I think that's part of the reason I'm extra sad right now. LOL.

Eira shifted a little from one hip to the other, her arms crossed along her chest. "I don't really want to be bonded. Does anyone like someone else having control over them? I want to be free to do as I please as any human would." It was an honest admission that didn't specifically say she disliked who she was bonded to, but she certainly wasn't happy about the arrangement. "What if she wants me to do something terrible? There's nothing I can do to stop myself," a slightly sulky tone came to her voice, almost fearful, though it was impossible to tell whether there was any sincerity in the worry.

"I can see why freedom is your main concern," said Mizaka as she pursed her lips, "but the truth is, a lot of Masters allow their Spirits a great range of freedom. Like Jack and I, for instance; sometimes the stupid bugger wanders off somewhere on his own, and while I have the ability to summon him back within my presence, I choose not to because I respect his privacy."

"It's true," said Jack with a wide smile. "This girl is like a favorite younger sister to me."

"Besides, the whole Master and Spirit dynamic is built on trust," continued Mizaka. "If a Master doesn't trust their Spirit, the Spirit won't trust the Master and can even sometimes disobey commands. Then the Master is left without protection, and will most likely end up dead because of it." She shifted her feet a bit. "This doesn't happen quite as often as you think, and besides, Sil doesn't look like the type who would force you or anyone else to do to terrible things..."

Sil should have been surprised by his outrage, but she honestly wasn’t. It wasn’t even in her plans to tell him her reasoning behind calling off their engagement because she was well aware Cross would react badly. On top of that, he wouldn’t have accepted her reasoning even if she felt that it was necessary down to her core. He would have fought harder, and no matter what she said he wouldn’t have listened to her. Now time had passed and she knew that she had made him angry enough, perhaps hurt him enough where he’d have no such intentions.

It wasn’t a plan that had been good for either of their hearts, but as far as she was concerned it had worked for one simple reason.

As he cut her off without another word, she let out a long sigh and stared up at the dark roof of her room. “If we were still together you would have fought anyway, even in no condition to fight,” the words were quiet and he would never hear them, but she knew they were true even if he didn’t. There was no way he would have run and left her to the wolves, and even if it was a a little backwards and wrong, she was glad that he had. Her importance should be below The Order, always.

Things were better this way, and she hoped that she wouldn't affect Lavi's life nearly as much as she had Cross's. At the end of the day, Lavi knew his fate; he would become a Bookman and Sil would eventually be a distant memory. They had no future together, and no matter how much she loved Lavi there would never be a future, even if they wanted one. Clean cut, clear; his Bookman duties would come first. She was probably the only woman in existence who wanted to be lower priority than a job, but the jobs that they did had no room for weakness, and love could be just that.

However, whatever she had been thinking was quickly interrupted by the report of fire that came through the communicator earring laying on her table top. She shot up in bed and hobbled over to the door, rushing as quickly as she could towards the location of it.

"I'm not sure if we work the same way," Eira started to say. She wasn't sure how much power Sil had over her, but she knew she felt obligated to follow commands and that was already too much for her. "I hope you're right, though, that I can disobey. If that's true then perhaps this situation isn't as bad as I thought it was..."

The young woman didn't seem very satisfied by the words of the two, but she honestly didn't have time to push the subject further. The screams about fire frightened her and her icy eyes opened wide. "I'm sorry, I have to go. This body can't withstand any heat!" She made a little squeaking noise and disappeared again in a flurry of white snow that blew out into the evening.
