"Note that that was the foruth time that you had put me off that day. The fourth time that you said 'you needed a moment'. So all in all, I didn't blow it out of proportion. My reaction was just a bit harsh...the arrow thing was probably a bit much." Frowning as he pointing though. "You still obsess over stranger things. I'm only crazy when I'm pregnant or horribly stressed out. Don't push me, or I'll lock you out of places again." It was harmless teasing yes, but the stress thing was true...often involved more of her locking herself away though than locking him out of places.

"I have seven to be exact. And I have no particular stake in this all. I was asked in vague terms to come here and explain things to one who could not see beyond the past. Yes, I do advocate surface to underdark relations, but beyond that no personal agenda. I however, do not see the ability to stand idly by and let someone destroy another's family based on their faulty logic." And the part about Kieran being related through marriage? That wasn't a component to this equation as far as he was concerned. Right now he was being unbiased and logical, thinking outside the box. "Things change, Lord Wyndrider. Is that so hard to believe?"

"Mom and the girls can but I'm not leaving Malikhai's side. He needs support right now more than Malik and you've got Malik covered anyway. Not much I can do with that."

"If you think I'm leaving either of you here alone, you are sadly mistaken." Said right off the bat just so no one could get any ideas. Crossing her arms and glancing between her husband and son. "And we will not be sending the girls home without supervision so we're all staying." That was an easy decision, wasn't it? "Don't mind him, Mykorian. He likes to play protector for everyone. It's sweet and unneeded right now." Ruffling her son's hair despite his pulling away and frowning. Ah, teenagers.

Lhairka giggled as the two adults went at each other and shook her head. "Okay you two. Let's not digress into outright violence here. Malik, let her win. I think it will go better for you in the end. And yes, Lateef is much happier knowing where his daughter is all the time now, even if she's not."

"If you had seen what I had...you might not be so eager to defend him. I don't doubt things can change. which is why I allowed this audience in the first place. what I doubt is leaving something to chance that never should have happened. what I doubt is how my honor will survive if I return home, and have to lie to those that heard the rumors of the butcher of bloody kithcor's continued life. to look in those eyes, eyes that show a pain that I have never had to bear and hope never to see."

a frown.

"they did not even get to bury thier loved ones. they didn't get to clean the bodies, dress then in thier burial shrouds and entomb them with the rites and prayers of a tunarian priest. the only solace those people had was that malik D'vinn was dead, and would never harm another life. that he might suffer the pain that they suffer."

closing the journal and handing it back to Kieran.

"Those men and women were my friends. they trusted me to lead them into battle. while I will not say that casualties are not bound to happen, at least they had the faith that I would be able to return thier bodies home. Now you tell me, you find the method that satisfies both my honor, and her wishes. You find the way to lie to young widows, and parents. to brothers and sisters and children...that the one that left not even enough to bury is dead, when you know he's not."

brushing his hair back.

"and knowing, everyday, that no matter what the outer shell, no matter how many trappings of nobility, or family, surround him, that in his soul that creature still lurks. that it's only a matter of time. something will trigger it, something will set it loose again. and hundreds more will die, and you could have prevented it. that one woman, and two children's pain was worth the potential risk of hundreds of lives and even more mourning families."

"true, it was. and I hadn't been gone but moments. I had work to do."

though a small smirk at Lark.

"speaking of which. how is Fianna? everything alright with her?"
PostPosted: Sat Oct 27, 2007 12:55 pm

"In all honesty...I could say that you have no right to seek revenge. Those who go into battle know they may die. So do their families. They know that sometimes bodies are not brought back, and they have to merely live with a memory or a token object. You seem to make thier pain something more. And who's to say that that Malik is alive? Who's to say he hasn't died. No one deserves a second chance in your book. For there is always a chance that things can go wrong."

Shaking his head lightly.

"By your own definitions...I could call you a Butcher yourself. I can not see how destroying someone else's life justifies the destroyed lives of others. One woman and two boys seems little in your grand scheme of things, but it still will do nothing. You create pain by making another pain, you continue a line of destruction and pain. You kill Malik...now Piper will seek to kill you. Would you take a mother away from her children? And then when the children are old enough to seek revenge take brother from brother? And the families connected to them, when they want revenge? Will you kill them all as well? One woman and two boys are merely a thread in this web you weave. And this is precisely the flaw in your plan...such things are not contained. You'll be killing and killing until the day you die. Now, you are the Butcher."

Then a blink and a look to him as a key fact he remembered came to his head. "A Butcher of a whole plane. If Malik D'vinn dies...you will cause the destruction of this entire plane. Far more lives than he ever took. Is that a reasonable price in your opinion? To top his death toll and take more innocents than he for his one life? No bodies to bury or send home, no loved ones left to even morn that loss."

"I'm supposed to come before your work when it's frivilous work." Giving a snicker and shaking her head, turing a look to Lark as the girl took on the parent role and chastized them both. "He never lets me win. And I can just make him sleep in another bedroom for it too." Giving a sigh. "She won't be able to climb out of windows soon enough. For now though, let him think he knows. Will save him the stress."

"And there you have it. Zahara says we're not going anywhere." Shaking his head lightly and giving a sigh, adjusting the hold on his daughter slightly before he turned on his boot heel and started walking, knowing Zahara and the children would follow. "Better get along then."

He blinked at the interaction betwen all of the family and took to following behind. "A protector is never unneeded. Even when you think that the times don't call for one. Things can happen in the blink of an eye and it's always better to be prepared."

Zahara's gaze moved over the boy before her and she once again had that niggling feeling that he wasn't being completely upfront about something. It was a rather odd philosophy for a half surface elf who didn't seem to have spent that much time down in the Underdark. If he'd lived down here all of his life, she would agree that was the wisest course. Nodding, she shifted her son in her hold and started after Sevilin.

Faate gave a look to Mykorian and then jerked her head towards her family that was already heading off in another direction. "Come on. It won't do you any good to be out here all alone. If you're with us, we can keep you safe." She didn't quite understand why he didn't want to live with her family but wasn't going to argue too much about it.

Lark just rolled her eyes, "And everyone wants to know if I'm ever getting married. I'm adopting Isle's course. No man is needed to make my life complete. I can sleep with whomever I want and if I get pregnant, well, there's an heir to pass the throne onto."
PostPosted: Sat Oct 27, 2007 3:05 pm

"Wrong. we always have bodies to bring back. even the other teir'dal left bodies. it is a form of minimum respect. the only one to ever do something like that to a body is him, and creatures from planes I wouldn't want to go to again."

a frown.

"Anyone who had ever seen malik would know him at a look."

before his face loss all experession.

"and how, praytell, did someone such as him get linked into the very fabric of a plane to an extent that it would collapse without him?"

"You however, Lark. need to consider marriage for a great many reasons. first of course are the political ones. second, if you do sleep around, and by stroke of luck become pregnant...said child's father now as a legitimate reason to claim the throne himself as it's his child that is heir. I'm sure you wouldn't want to be stuck ruling by a one night stand for what is it? five hundred years, do you?"

a smirk.

"Isle gets away with it becuase she doesn't have such responsibilities. you do."

"Safe? Wouldn't I be safe in the city anyway?" Shrugging he followed, merely watching where things lead which seemed to be toward the inn that they had all left this morning. Apparently they didn't care what tournament officials decided, or rather didn't care for the fuss.

Sevilin didn't give any outward acknoledgement to the statement, and the chidl didn't strike him as a pessimist. Thus...well there was something else to that statement. But children that were not his own or D'vinn, were rarely his concern right now. He had greater things to attend to, like undercover horse thieves and strange energy trails. So back to the inn with them, making sure his family was all safely in.

Piper only gave a laugh. "While I don't recommend getting married for political reasons and the like, getting married for love I will say just kind of happens. Even when you're not planning on it." Swatting at Malik. "Don't try to scare her like that."

He found it amusing that this one didn't acknowledge himself to be committing hte same crimes as Malik eventually. Which was one of those nonverbal indicators that he knew Kieran was right. But for the moment he was quiet, merely watching the other as everything dropped from his face. "How? I know not how. Just that that is how it is." Getting that thinking look as he tried to recall what he had been told. "Soul switching if you will. When he and his wife came here, they were placed in positions that they knew nothing about. It's as simple as that. And it is the truth. Methods aside...does that thought at least give you pause? Or do you want to make yourself no better than he was? What would relieve your pride and honor other than taking his life?"

All this talk about marriage and puffiness didn't settled with the elf much. Yeah he didn't mind relationships, after all he was still fairly young and had many years ahead of him. He will meet many interesting people over his life time. Marriage though, well it'll happen when it does. A look to Lark for a moment. "Just be careful with who you're with that's all I'm saying." A light nod as he rested against the wall of the room and sighed a little, the kids were quiet. Seemed that either they had nothing to talk about or waiting for the grownups to leave. Malikhai was going to have a lot of fun trying to figure out Kaelin. Though a light chuckle at Piper. "Hey it's Malik, he always installs a little fear out of fun."

Lark shook her head but grinned, "Marriage is not required to rule. If anything it's better not to be linked to someone else. Less chance of issues arising within court. And love just gets so tangled. But, no, I'd rather not have some elf I don't even know taking things from me. I think Daddy Kieran and Council would have something to say about that as well. But I don't think you have to worry too much, Malik. Sex is not something I'm particularly looking forward to engaging in, really. I'd rather focus on Lucana and learning as much as I can before Daddy Kieran's time is up."

Zykariel strolled over to Malikhai's room and knocked lightly. 'Knock knock? Good Kefele. I guess you don't need company after all, do you silver eyes? I just wanted to let you know that I'll be getting your money back for the race. I'm not participating."

"Those boys might come after you again? You just never know. Much better to stay with us." Giving a nod and following along.

Zahara followed her husband up the stairs and into their room, watching the girls and Mykorian head for their own room. Had Faate been a little bit older, she would have worried. But neither of those two had any real knowledge on what sex was and she knew hormones weren't racing just yet. Setting Kelligrin down so he could crawl about and play as he wanted, she flopped on the bed. "You're worried about something..."

Kelligrin found a small yellow ball and pushed it across the floor, then crawled over to the bed and clutching the edge, used it to pull himself up. He held up the ball to his father, shaking his little fist. "Daddy promise play."

"and Council, as well as the infamous Crest, should have been able to stop an overly unbalanced surface elf from coming here as well. bonds of blood are stronger than anything. claiming parentage to one on the throne or inline is a powerful tool. even if said person can't assume the throne."

though a smirk at Lark.

"You say that now. I bet Isle said the same thing a long time ago. Piper here as well."

"destroying a plane to redeem a much smaller number is not something I want to engage in. provided this isn't some clever ruse, or some intricate web spun by a tier'dal to ensure his continued existance when his 'wife' was discovered."

a more thoughtful look.

"However, it is not a chance I am willing to take. in the off chance things did get into this tangled web in the correct manner, then that would be suicidal to kill him. and such a thing is not looked upon favorably. In light of this information, and you evidence that does proclaim an actual marriage to his wife, honored by a non Innoruukian priest, I'll revoke the claim on his life. However, under the following stipulation. Malik D'vinn will face me in combat on foot before this tournament ends."

"Malik does love his scare tatics."Laughing...Galesen didn't like them so much. "Love is supposed to be tangled and frustrating. That's the point." Giving a little chuckle some and swatting at Malik once more at his opinion on the subject. Sex, wasn't that something that was twisted. It seemed the young women always didn't want to engage because it had less than pleasant connotations in the sense of being clean and what not. Oh but that thought was fleeting once it got into your head and you then experienced it. "For now, I'd say that's the best thing to think on. Besides...boys are so much trouble and they're so clingy. Who wants that all the time, right?" Turning a look to the door at Zykariel. "Might as well join the party...he's all mopey looking."

He had been quiet or rather more or less brooding over his crumbled social image. But a look up to his friend's voice and he swallowed before tkaing a breath before talking. "Oh so they're silver now? Trying to get on my good side?" Giving a laugh that made him cringe and cough. "Why aren't you racing? You know you can win."

He flushed slightly, cheeks tinting as he followed after the girls. "Oh yeah, forgot about them. I'd be fine...except they're bigger and like in a pack or something."

Picking up his son, he moved him away some and let him sit on the floor before taking the ball and sitting on the edge of the bed, throwing it softly to the baby across from him. "This whole house threat thing aside from Wyndrider. I haven't felt anything that matches since we left...which means we're still at square one and still have to worry. I hate worrying."

"I wouldn't lie to you. I have no cause to and by my own moral code, it would be wrong to even if I had something to personally gain." Nodding and giving a mental sign in his head over the turn of things. Everyone could be reasoned with...it just had to be dealt with in the proper manner. "If you need any further proof of their marriage, I have many an example and resource. And face you in combat...that either by direct or indirect means does not cause his death, " Offering his hand and wrist to the other. "Do we have a deal?" Oh Piper was not going to be happy...but compromise was something must bend to, even when they didn't like it.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 27, 2007 5:33 pm

A little nod to Piper, yes he didn't like how Malik went about things; especially when it's directed at him. There were a few things he wanted to forget but that was the curse of an elven memory. Still now he learned to let things go and everything was alright from his point of view. Though a small smile as Zykariel came in to check on his friend. Now this was a good example of best friends, he knew though that those two will stick by each other for gods know how long. "I was wondering if you were going to come by or not." A blink though as he checked his internal clock, Kieran has been talking to that elf for quite awhile. Has he resolved anything by now?

Zykariel shrugged and waved a hand. "I thought I'd let you win since you're losing in every other sphere. As for the race, it isn't a big deal, Malikhai. Truly. I wouldn't be able to focus knowing that you are down and out anyway and I'm not willing to risk my reputation and your money on a foolish whim. Besides, I have plenty of schoolwork I could work on instead and keep you company while I do it." Lowering his voice to a whisper, "Maybe you could even help me on some of it and we could get it done faster." Giving him a lazy half grin.

"We don't talk about such things, Malik. Council is not infallible and everyone does make mistakes. No one knew Kaden was quite the way he was. Despite what you might think, he lived a normal life in Odaria." Yes, Lharika had been told of that when she became old enough to understand why Andal was a closed plane and precautions had ot be taken with travel arrangements. "Bonds can also be broken and Council will not hesitate to do so if sufficient proof is found."

Faate watched him for a moment then stood and lightly pressed her hands to his cheeks. "You can blush..." Then again he did have lighter skin. "Yes, they are. And if you happened ot take on the pack and defeat them they would only resort to unfair fighting like they attempted to do with me."

Zahara scooted down on the bed to be leaning against Sevilin's shoulder watching the two play for a bit before she took to gently moving her fingers along his shoulders. He always tensed when he was worried. "The stolen horses and whatnot? I didn't realize we were still looking for things in regards to that." Great, now she had to worry as well. "We should probably lock Destyny down and ensure nothing could get to her. Though if a horsethief was going to take from this race, I would think Wyndrider's horse would be first to go. She's a beauty."

Kelligrin giggled happily and tried to catch the ball. What he ended up doing was crawling to get it, then throwing it back. A few times he crawled and pulled himself up to hand it to his father since that seemed to make him happy, too. Playing ball was one of Kelligrin's favorite things to do. It was something he could actually throw without getting in trouble.

Rainmare offered out his hand and shook Kierans.

"As I said. killing him is not something I will risk given the situation. and I am a paladin. methods of indirect death are not methods I will stoop to."

Rainmare gave a nod and turned the other way. facing Malik in combat would provide two means. if he lost, he would simply state he could not complete the task. there was no lose in honor to try, and to fail. if he won, he could without a lie, tell those that wanted reassurance that he had defeated malik. they could take the meaning of defeat in thier own way.

"I am not the one that causes all the trouble. your trouble outwieghs mine by at least a boatload. mine trouble just happens to be more dangerous, is all."

A slight smirk...though a raise of the eyebrow to Zykariel. that was interesting.

"Oh gee thanks." He felt a tad bit better with Zykariel around, after all Zykariel was the social confident one and could command attention away from himself. "Aw, you care. Isn't that nice to know." He would of chuckled again but that really really hurt and he didn't want to engage in that. "You would like that wouldn't you? It will at least give me something to do while I lay around and recover."

Sometimes she wished that Lharika didn't know that story. But you coudln't always get what you wanted and this was one of those things. "Well well...you've learned quite a lot haven't you. Don't turn pessimistic on me now. No one would like that at all." Ruffling the girl's hair again with a grin of sorts as she looked to Malik. "My trouble sometimes is quite fun. And you enjoy it sometimes."

He blinked oddly as if amazed that she was well..amazed. "Of course I can." And her mentioning it only made his cheeks heat more. Being a young boy, he hated it because it was a 'girl' thing. "Can't you?" Tilting his head lightly though not disrupting her hands. "I think they would go for unfair fighting first. Though I'm glad you're not hurt. If they hurt you...well I'd just have to go hurt them back."

So it was a game of catch between father and son, helping him develop that throwing thing the baby loved so much. But at least the child was still working on that standing up thing as well...even if Sevilin couldn't get him to walk. A look to his wife though. "I don't think it was ever about just stealing horses. Not with all the details that me and Malik have. Something that goes deeper than that. Something that threatens our families more than your horses."

Kieran nodded and turned on his boot heel, heading away from that spot. He knew where they were staying so then it was off to the inn with them and up on to their room. He gave a nod and merely let himself in quietly, not looking to disturb anything that was going on and preparing his answers for questions.
