Damn, i hope not. i wanted to get to work on a renegade chapter using night lords rules. Go stealth heavy with stealth adepts, move through cover and infiltrate, mixed with their night vision, and get some ninja marines going.
I may hold off until some rumors seem to become more substantial.
I did enjoy this signature though from the forum
""Suck it, Ork players! Your near-decade long gravy train is over, and Space Marines are finally getting a place at the table." - dienekes96"

One other thing, if the rumors Im reading in Dakka end up true, and if the new marine codex rumored that uses the DA codex set up, then Ill just play with friends using the old codexes. No reason I cant just ignore the new ones.
And as I see people in here posting and saying its all over, I just keep thinking, "if you all agree, why not just keep using the rules you like?"
Seems simple to me.

Well, like so many other things, the hobby is largely competition driven. Most players will migrate to the newest, most up-to-date rules, for better or worse.
That is to say, absolutely nothing is preventing you from using an old Codex or ruleset in friendly games, you'll just find fewer and fewer friendly games like that (outside your circle of friends) as time wears on. confused

Today I got to see someone who had chosen Khorne Beserkers, and had the normal save, plus an invunerable save, and then the feel no pain save. Then when they got into close combat, they got like some four attacks each. Coupled with (beserker rage?), they got into combat fast and packed a hard punch. They may have been point heavy, but they seemed well worth it.

Plus, that alone would be 33 points before gifts, 15-25 each alone with Aura, No pain, and maybe armor, and another 3 each for furious charge and 1 for Chainaxe. Assuming that was all he gave (Which I doubt), between 52-62 points each. An 8 man squad, at least 416-496 points with just that. How many points was the game?

And most of the poeple at the store near me are a bunch of nostalgic old guys who all whine about rouge trader and 2nd edition. So it shouldnt be too hard. especially with all the chaos players there.
And if I couldnt use the old chaos army assuming this new one sucks, then Ill just play marines (assuming they dont get changed) or eldar.
Im suprised the ork related quote didnt get any response.

I've seen similar turbo-Berzerkers in action, someone was low on models and powerpacked them to the max... they mincemeated everything in hth until got pasted by rapid firing plasma rifles of some IG...

5+ aura doesn't do a whole lot when you're eliminating armor AND FNP.
Speed's dangerous - but it's ultimately just another chunk of points - and it has to be modeled, naturally.
When I meet someone who converts a whole squad of speedy chosen berserkers, I'll gladly let him field them without a word of complaint. 3nodding
What're the odds of that, though?

Well, it was a 1850 point game, and he had two suped up squads of Beserkers, some bikers (which got instantly destroyed), and a summoned suqad of Bloodletters. Oh, and a Demon Prince that never got summoned in, and maybe another squad of Bloodletters.
They had the speed bonus thing, demonic arua, FNP, a lieutenant that was floating in the air and looked insane (champion?). In one game, he was down to one Marine left, and the other player shot thirty seven shots (rapid fired) from Eldar Guardians. After the armour save and FNP though, only four hit him. That's pretty good, I'd say.

The way I intend to model demonic speed on the champions I want to use in my LatD is to simply paint on the flock those simple arcane circle-y rune thingies that every spellcatser got whenever they did a spell in the classic rpgs like Shining the Ark and s**t like that. Then apply the same color to the bottom of their feet, and raise them a bit with some shaving off of a sprue or plasticard. Ta da.
Im big on minimalism.
My big question at the moment is, I want some chaos hounds for a liutenant, but I cant decide between kroot hounds or the chaos warhounds. I like the kroot hounds sleek look, but the warhounds have poses that make them look like theyre at least moving somewhat.
