Chakra_Thief Reddemon Id go with a custom chapter because you can have Assult Marines as Elites Yeah, thats why i was going to do Raven Guard, but they have No Mercy, No Respite, which i find kinda useless, and i don't like Flesh Over Steel, because I'd like to have a Land Raider and either a Predator or a Whirlwind, so a custom chapter would probably suit me best, so i have to decide on a chapter name, color scheme, symbol, etc. One of my ideas was to use the Ultramarines Symbol upside down, cause it looks like the symbol for Omega, so maybe something like that Try something your into. Like a anime theme(like a Hellsing orginization witch hunter theme) or prehaps something like a samuri theme

Chapter founded by, you guessed it, the Ultramarines! Nothing that prevents you from using the omega with say, a skull in the center of that. You may even put a sword through it.

Jerhien On the topic of space marine armor I"m forced to disagree with you caga. I think a dreadnought is an incredibly good deal and much more flexible then most other pieces of armor that most space marine players use. The best Ultramarines player I know uses two dev squads with a jump pack chaplain and a dread to play bodygaurd. Of course he plays a static fire army (which is still a damn hard nut to crack). He compliments it with three landspeeders. I think Pred's are awesome too, don't get me wrong, but dreads and speeders are a damn steal for the points you pay for them. I think the most important thing I ever learned in 40k was that if you take armor, you better take it in spades because a solitary tank or dread is always number one on the enemies hit list. If I play with Pred's it's always two with a Vindicator (my personal favorite of the true SM tanks, and sadly the most often overlooked) a dread and a squadron of landspeeders. And yes dark elf, I too am head over heels in love with landspeeders. Cheap a** canons and hvy bolters are the win. Just my two cents! Oh and for a bad a** 500 pt list, take two small squads of space marines, a dreadnought, a chaplain, and a dev squad with 4 hvy bolters. 500 pts exactly, and damn hard to beat. Poor Vindicators always had a bad rap unless you were playing the old Cleanse mission and placed the tank so your enemy had a cramped deployment zone. Of course now they can move and fire, properly upgraded with a Machine Spirit so they'll be hard to disable. Even though I still don't use one. How strange...

Actually, i made my chapter last night, and thats what i did. I made a succesion chapter to the Raven Guard, and named them the Omega Ravens. The symbol is a raven with the omega symbol over it. The chapter traits are Blessed be the Warriors, Purity Above All, Eye to Eye, and Have Faith in Suspicion. The color scheme is black with midnight blue. I plan on having a Commander with squad, terminator chaplain (waiting for new one to come out) with terminator command squad, Dreadnought, 4 Assault Squads, at least two tactical squads with apothecaries as veteran sergeants, a Land speeder squadron, a devastator squad, a land raider, and a whirlwind.

Mat no you should do the 3 Whirlwind Castellian Army those are great Heavy support is actually my hardest decision with marines... I like all the heavy support options, but i love land raiders, and i found from experience how effective Whirlwinds can be. I figure in the mass of tanks, assault squads, and other distractions, my devastators have a good chance of being ignored a bit. I love land raiders for a few reasons... -Terminator transport -Moving Terrain -Hard to take out -Twin-Linked Heavy Bolter and two Lascannons What is there not to love? (One of the best things i've ever done: I once took out a Land raider with a strength 8 power fist. It was awesome. very lucky rolling)

What do whirlwinds do? The ld codex lists them as having a guess range 5 strength normal blast. In my opinion, that sucks, so the new rules must be different...

ubergeist What do whirlwinds do? The ld codex lists them as having a guess range 5 strength normal blast. In my opinion, that sucks, so the new rules must be different... you can choose between the Vengeance blast missile and the Castellan mine missile. You must declare before the game what you're using, and only have that type for the duration of the game. For their stats and rules, check the codex when you have time. 3nodding but this makes them MUCH more flexible.
