dr1v3thru Sentient232 .Savage_Kitten. And baris are really expensive, always over 2,000 bucks. Unless you want a real piece of crap, which you obviously don't, so that's why I suggest you try and get your school to purchase a new one. Love bari the most, I would say. My Alto alone costs near 2,000 bucks. It was brand new when I got it. But the guys here kinda over charge sweatdrop wwbw ftw! only thing is, you wouldn't be supporting your local music store. oh well, i buy reeds from them anyway. domokun my sax came up to about 1.4k yamaha yas-475. i with my parents went for the 62 instead but hey, i'm not complaining. MWAHAHA!!! MY saxaphone along with everything I need was 500 bucks!

iBandGeek I play the alto!!! Alto all the way!! =) lol anybody got any tips for me so i can play louder? my teacher said everything i play is good i just gotta add more volume to my sound. lol All I can think of is more air. And if you play on the edge of your mouthpiece, you should probably play with more of it in your mouth. That's really helped me.

Yeah, that helps too, especially for low notes. (But not when you're all sick, like me...D: My throat hurts a lot, and if I did that today in band, stuff probably would've come up. >_< )

More air for low notes does help, though, because the air has to pass farther through the instrument, but if the air can't get past the reed well, then the sound won't come out.
Sorry if that doesn't make sense, I'm still sick. xd

DemonicCurse I play alto sax. All saxophone have the same fingerings so you could play almost any of them if you could play just one. Yes you are right about that. The only difference is the mouth positions and the amount of pressure you put on the reed.I personally play with Van 4's on my Jupiter Bari.,you need to have a large lung capacity, and be able to pass a lare amount of air quickly, not recommended for marching though,Rico 2's are great for that XD

Sorry if that doesn't make sense, I'm still sick. xd Try getting a lighter, thinner reed,if marching go for some thin Rico's if concert go for a medium Van.Also like most others say pass more air,and lower jaw. Also hold your lips WAY tighter around the saxophone mouthpiece. You will eventually get use to it,and try to get tighter, and tighter each time you play.I hope that helps

Yea if you want a good bariton with a great special low "A flat" [personal favorite] you are going to need to dish out a good $5000-$10,000.I personally love JUPITER'S they have amazing sound quality and avery versitle and are great for both marching and concert...dont ding them though, its silver lined for a richer sound.
