amanda234254 hi! i have been on here in a while sweatdrop ...has anyone heard of the song"portrait of a clown"? my band class is playing it...its really cool.. I played it back in 7th grade in an honor band...it was okay... but then again, in 7th grade I had the Band Director Who Would Be Antichrist so I didn't really think much of anything of any music she'd (literally) throw at us. Thank God she was sacked, and thank God that the honor band was conducted by Dr. Raiber, the Professor Who Would Be God. 3nodding cool

Hello every one. I don't know If I've posted here before or not. If I havn't then Hello everyone. I love this guild because playing clarinet and drawing are my two passions. And importance in my life goes: 1. Family 2.Friends 3.Clarinet 4. Animals So yea I play the clarinet (duh?) for my high school band. Our directors are called by Mr.Williams, Mr.Jones, Mrs.G (she was our marching band director) and Mr.Montoya (he's my favorite. ^^) I only see mister jones because he's the one that teaches the band I'm in (there's Freshman, J.V. 1, J.V. 2, Symphonic, and Honers bands) So yea that's alittle random history about me.

i have had my bd blow up at me before and the class..... and it wasnt good. hes always pissed at the class bc they are always talking.... and hes always pissed at me for some wierd reason. i almost never know what it is that i have done wrong.... although there was those few times that i forgot my clarinet when we were in critical crunch mode... which i dont think is a good thing... and then there was that time that my instrument got locked in the band room and i had to show up to the concert without an instrument. that was bad. i failed that concert bc my father took me home because the bd was angry at me for "forget my clarinet!" but hey anyway.... i havent been on in a long while... our computer crashed and we still dont have a new comp.... i was sharing a laptop with my sister and now shes stolen our mothers... its funny.... lets hope this one doesnt crash. lol. we should be getting a new one soon... i hope.... were power crunching now bc our festival is in 3 weeks.

Mine gets impatient and yells and tells up to shut up and then yells at us to play, otherwise he just splits everyone up...

Riku_Cloud224 Mine gets impatient and yells and tells up to shut up and then yells at us to play, otherwise he just splits everyone up... Maaaaaan...I can't count on my fingers and toes how many times Davis had shot his mouth off, this year and last year. Last year, only one of his 15-minute+ long tirades was actually motivational. This year, he got a little bit better (TWO motivational speeches! OMG!) but he talked for far too long both years in any case. Davisson (AKA Fearless Leader) on the other hand...he rarely loses his cool. And when he does, you'd better run the other direction, 'cuz he's scary eek And Davis wonders why he doesn't command the same respect as Davisson... and Dr. Raiber is God, so he automatically gets 100% obedience from everyone. The only time I saw him really mad was when he pulled a couple of freshmen aside because they did something really stupid (and potentially illegal) and they were crying, and I, just walking by, wanted to crawl into a corner, assume the fetal position, and cry, too. And neither Fearless Leader nor God needs to use expletives. Now that is class. 3nodding

Yup Mister williams calls himself a band director. It's kinda sad because when he taught at my middle school *before he moved to highschool band* He would coup himself in his office and grade papers and that was it. And the only time he came out was to yell at us. He tried to direct once but we were soooo used to the other directer. So he started to do wierd stuff and we got confused and stopped playing because he was off beat making us play the sond like 4 times as slow as it origonaly was so when we stopped he took the baton and threw it across the room (it ended up hitting someone on accident) and then he started yelling at us then he yelled at the other director asking him what he was teaching us then the other band director (Mr.Montoya -he rocks-) Blew up at him saying that it was all mr.williams fault.

kilala0461 well I've been playing about 3 years now and I've been in marching band and concert band this year though not at the same time. Is that a good or bad thing for someone at my level? I'd have to say it would depend on how you feel about it, and how it's offered. If marching and concert band are part of being in band class (like it is here-marching first semester and concert second) then unless you're really lacking in skills required for both then I wouldn't worry about it. If you have doubts about what's going on in band, have a chat with your director, and listen to his/her advice. Directors don't bite...not usually, anyway. 3nodding

amanda234254 hi! i have been on here in a while sweatdrop ...has anyone heard of the song"portrait of a clown"? my band class is playing it...its really cool.. frankie---I mean Frank Ticheli made that song right? I LOVE Ticheli's works, our band plays his music alot. last year we play Joy [for seventh grade] and simple gifts [for wind ens]. This year we're doing Shenandoah, we might do sanctuary though anyways... I'M BACK FROM ALL STATE!!!!! AND FRANK TICHELI WAS THERE!!!!!!!!! it was awesome! Miyokoko made new friends and st00f!!! my percussion friend told me that the conductor up at our high school is quitting next year. Her mom overheard him saying, "Every time I get off the freeway from Chino, I shudder because I have to spend my day teaching you guys" and so now he's quitting and my BD is taking over =0. Its kinda cool .

Reading all these stories make me sad, because being trained as a band director myself, I can DEFINITELY understand where you all are coming from...Some band directors may be wonderful musicians but simply should not be teachers....Who thinks there should be more female band directors out there, ne?
