Lin blinked back, it seemed to have answered her question. Her parents had met this woman, but she never had.

"Uhm yes..." Lin murmured, "I'm Lin Winters, this is Haldia, and this is Earendil Aldirch, and this is my daughter Miyuki."

This was a bit strange for her, maybe because she had come all the way up here for a doll.

The woman smiled at her and motioned for all of them to come inside. "Hurry in, it's getting windier again," she urged them. As they headed into the warmth, she introduced herself. "I'm Amara, and this is my husband, Fletcher."

Inside, the living room was the first room, and there was a warm fire in the fireplace. A blond elven man was sitting next to it on the floor, whittling at a piece of wood. He nodded at the strangers politely in greeting.

Amara closed the door behind them. "Though I'm sure you already knew that, of course."

She turned to Earendil. "Alrich, eh? Related to Ulani or Serenity?"

"Serenity is my grandmother," Earendil explained.

Amara nodded. "I see. Well, take a seat." She motioned towards the couch and chairs. "What brings you up here?" she questioned. "I don't think we've had visitors in ..."

"Seventy years," Fletcher spoke up. "Not since Aliya was born."

That was a long time, at least to Lin it sounded like a very long time. She nodded thoughtfully at this...

"Well this is going to sound really odd...."

Odd, if it weren't for the fact they lived in the middle of nowhere and doll making wasn't as simple as it was in Gaia, this was probably a bit extreme.

"But Haradhel suggested you, when I asked for help in getting a doll for Miyuki."

She glanced over at her daughter who seemed perfectly happy to be in Earendil's arms, granted she was looking every which way and sniffing the air and just overall being curious.

"She's really attached to Earendil, and I'm hoping that maybe a doll would distract her when it's time to go home."

Otherwise it was going to be a very, very difficult adjustment period.

Amara smiled warmly and nodded. "Understandable. From what I hear, she's as attached to Earendil as if he were her father. Of course that would be a little awkward ... take a seat, take a seat," she urged them all.

Earendil blinked and did as he was told, sitting on the couch so that he could set Miyuki next to him. Haldia sat in one of the chairs near the fire. She was colder than the others, having endured the cold in her own body but also in that of her roc.

Amara turned and spoke rapidly to her husband, and he got up and headed off to the kitchen. As he went, she turned back to Lin.

"So," she smiled, sitting across from her, "tell me. What sort of doll would you like for your daughter?"

Lin absently took a seat next to Earendil. She couldn't help but wonder how often Amara went down from the mountain because she certainly hadn't seen her ever, and couldn't help but be somewhat nervous about how good the grapevine was around here.

"Uhm.... I'm not sure, maybe a plush doll, a person..."

That was the type Lin had often grown up around, though she never played dress up or anything like that.

Amara nodded and made a mental note of it.

"Stuffed solid? Or more like a ragdoll?" she asked. "Usually the stuffed ones last a bit longer, and are better for comfort, since they have more substance to hug."

Somehow, Lin foresaw her child being the rough and tumble type and not just because she had been the rough and tumble type as a child.

"Stuffed," Lin finally replied, "That would probably be for the best."

She didn't know how long it would take Miyuki to grow, so it was best to go with what lasted.

Amara closed her eyes and nodded to herself. "And -"

She was interrupted by her husband's return with a tray of steaming mugs.

"Cider?" he offered, holding the tray out to Lin first of all.

"Oh!" Lin leaned forward carefully picking a mug off the tray, "Thank you."

Just to thing to warm up after a trip like that.

Miyuki wiggled on Earendil's lap, sniffing the air. She smelled something sweet with a hint of a cinnamon. What was that yummy smell?

Earendil accepted a mug from Fletcher and sipped at it carefully. It was too hot to drink just yet, and he set it aside on a side table.

"Just wait a bit," he murmured to Miyuki. "I'll give you some once it's cooled down some."

Fletcher gave Haldia a mug as well, then gave one to Amara, taking the last one for himself before setting the tray down.

Amara took a slow sip before turning back to Lin. "And what would you like the doll to look like?" she asked, going back to the question she had been about to ask before.

"Huh.... that's a good question," Lin murmured thoughtfully.

Should she get it to look like a human? Maybe an angel? Or an elf since that's really the kind of people Miyuki spends a lot of time with, or maybe Lin should opt for a kitsune, a person that Miyuki could relate with. Since really Miyuki was the only kitsune she had ever met.

"I'm not sure," Lin blinked.

Lin had many dolls, not withstanding she had two of parents, but.. most she knew would find that creepy, and the only reason why she had them was because the doll of her father was made for her mother. Lin had... taken that so to speak as a child because she had been insanely attached to her father.

"Well," Amara said slowly, thoughtfully, trying to be helpful, "what do you think Miyuki would like best? I mean, you're going to be trying to distract her from something with it, aren't you?"

She raised one eyebrow as if to drive her point home.

Miyuki pouted up at Earendil, not understanding the term hot. She pointed up at him and exclaimed, "Dil!"

Lin glanced over at Earendil and chewed her lower lip trying not to giggle or laugh or do anything because this was getting to be a bit weird even for her.

"Well... at this point there are few things Miyuki likes, sweets, her tails, flying and Earendil."

She paused and then added.

"And Earendil...."

She really wasn't seriously considering it was she? Well, she had done the same as a child, that's how she became so independent so fast.

Earendil wasn't paying too much attention to Lin and Amara, he was too busy with Miyuki. He chuckled at her and nibbled on her fingertip. It was just too adorable when she tried to say his name, even if she couldn't do it just yet. Still, it was a start.

"Hot," he repeated to her. "You'll burn yourself. Not good. Wait."

Amara laughed softly at the expression on Lin's face. "I don't know if that's a repetition of thought or if it's actually a request," she grinned. "If you would like a doll that resembles Earendil, I could do that for you. It may take a week or so, however."

The implications of getting a doll that represented her best friend made her really wonder if she should encourage such a thing. She looked at Earendil for a moment who was obviously busy at the moment.

Though it would probably make the separation easier, Lin knowing how she was with her father.

That somehow made it sound a bit strange.

"It was a repetition of thought, but..." Lin trailed off for a moment before continuing, "I think maybe it might make it easier on Miyuki if it was a doll of him."
