2nd. Best Potter film ever? :/ I read the 6th book a long time ago and it took me a while just to follow up with the direction of the movie. Totally forgot about the vanishing cabinet. I loved the scene with Ginny and Harry fighting in the wheat field (?) Wish it happened in the book. But the 6th book wasn't that great anyway and the 7th was never my favorite. Sorry, none of it made sense.

Personally, I loved it. It told me a story and kept me entertained. There was only one change/fudging that I minded, and considering how I tend to hate any form of change, that's saying a lot.
With the story that the movies alone have built up, regarding everything they've left out and/or added over the years, I would say that yes, this was probably my favorite of the film series.
But then, I'm a sucker for Bonnie Wright/Ginny.
(Another thing that might have added to my liking it was that earlier in the day I had watched Howl's Moving Castle. Miyazaki, I love your films... but Howl was s**t.)

stupid stupid stupid...had to reply to his email....he can sound so sweet sometimes. I hope there's still a shred of good in him, but what's done is done. Thankfully he moved out of state, but why did I have to keep a line of communication open. it just gives him another chance to hurt me and he'll find a way. crying

What are you talking about Xan?! Howl's Moving Castle is awesome! Great characters, imaginitive world very cute romance.....how can you not like it? That's my favorite of his series! I love how vain Howl can be and how Sophia is so insecure about herself that she stays old and crepit even if Howl thinks she's beautiful. It's so great.
Erm, liking the new HP film because it told a story? You'll have to give me a better reason than that for liking it. I felt it was incredibly disjointed and I could hardly follow up with every scene. There wasn't much left to the imagination other than this compact castle and the thin storyline of the main story of Voldemort's past and the lost memory. Then the substories that clashed with it.
The ending scene was suppose to be the best action part in the whole 6th book but the director just left it to be another tired fight between Harry and some baddie rather than Harry and his friends getting in on the action. I can understand the last part but it just felt like it was one long continuous note.
Then again the 6th book was ehhhh.... :/
Ginny was awesome in it and I was glad (in the movie and book) that her character became a very strong one.

As someone who grew up reading the original story of Howl's Moving Castle, by Diana Wynne Jones, I found Miyazaki's interpretation to be probably the weakest film adaptation of a book I've ever seen. Michael was changed to Markle and dropped from 15 to about 7-8, which caused the removal of the love triangle/confusion with Michael, Howl, Lettie, and Sophie's other sister, Martha, who was dropped entirely. The Witch was made an obese, unattractive tottering moron, characters were merged to create Sulimon, while others were ripped apart to create background noise. So many other things were completely rewritten, including where Howl actually comes from, that it seriously felt like an entirely different story, barely palatable to my tastes. Yes, it was beautifully animated and the characters had a somewhat likable appeal... if not being rather hollow by comparison.
What I meant by it telling a story was that it gave me a beginning setup, a rise in conflict, filler humor to flesh it out, and provided a climax. I've seen various movies recently that only entertain on merit of flashy cinematography and/or special effects. With HBP I got that and the fulfillment of following a tale being told.
The ending, while being the one part I disliked having been altered, still capped out how the rest of the story went. If they'd given it a bit more meat, I'd have been more pleased, but ah well. I wasn't going into it looking for the next Oscar winning performances or a summer blockbuster poised to take my world by storm. I went to see a movie. I went to be entertained. Did I? Was I? Yes and yes. Therefore, thumbs up in my book.

I'm so tired. Cleaning up the mess in the computer room, finally. Making progress, but there is still so much to go. And I already pulled just about every muscle on my right side. Makes it kinda hard to lug boxes around.
And when I'm done in here, I get to do my room, which is even more of a ********. Yay!

HBP was a long book and it was only a 2 1/2 hour movie, they were going to have to make cuts somewhere. *shrug* I liked the book and I liked the movie. Angels and Demons, on the other hand, infuriated me. *shrug*
I've only seen Howl's Moving Castle once and I liked it, but felt it was a little dull compared to what I'd been expecting from hearing everyone say how wonderful it was. I think I might have to find the original story, 'cause that sounds really interesting.
And damn it, I submitted my paperwork two weeks ago - just send me the phone already! D:
