It was now time for Tai Wei to focus on the next leg of his toughening up training session. He needed to work on his endurance, which had shown itself to be completely lacking in his last training session. He really needed to work as hard as he could to get things done, because if he didn't he wouldn't be able to do much for long. He already felt like his strength was alright for where his goals were, but Tai Wei decided he needed to work on his own weaknesses before he continued to work on anything else. If he was more well rounded, he would be stronger than if her had a bunch of glaring weaknesses that offset his own strengths.

Nat 1. Failure.
As soon as Tai Wei attempted to start moving, he fell flat on his face after tripping. That was not only pathetic, but embarrassing as well. It was clear that he needed to make more improvements than he realized. As such, he got up, dusted himself off, and went back to running. This was just another example of how weak he was in relation to how he wanted to be. Tai Wei figured that by running around the entire training facility, he would not only increase his stamina, but he would also find his way around the place. Hopefully he wouldn't end up somewhere he wasn't supposed to be, but that man had said that he was allowed anywhere in the facility itself.

18-2 = 16. Pass.
Somehow, Tai Wei was beginning to feel a bit better about this whole thing. While he was only running, he was also building up his stamina and his physical constitution. He knew it was his weakest area, and so he knew he was going to have to build it up before he did much else. Otherwise, he would end up screwing himself in the long run. There was nothing worse than getting into a fight and then running out of gas a minute into it. At least, Tai Wei thought there was nothing worse. He assumed that the ninjas of Oto could probably come up with a lot worse... but that wasn't something he needed to be thinking about right now.

Tai Wei was doing just fine, at least until he ran right smack into a door when he wasn't paying attention. This proved that even when he thought he was safe, Tai Wei needed to make sure he was paying close attention to his surroundings. Otherwise, he might get killed before he ever realized that there was someone around, and he'd hit the ground before realizing he was even dead. Neither of those options made life fun to live, but then again it wasn't fun to be alive anyway. Tai Wei and rubbed his nose, before getting up and setting off at a jog again. There were more than enough problems with everything that was happening right now, he didn't need to add extra pain on top of it.

Just as Tai Wei got up off the ground, he tripped over his own feet again and landed face first into the ground. He was grateful that he was strong enough to deal with the pain, because if he wasn't this would probably have knocked him out or worse. He had a lot of things he needed to take care of, and being in pain would just make the entire situation worse. After getting up yet again, Tai Wei started trying to run for a third time; this was getting to be an ordeal. After all, he really didn't want to be the one who had to explain that he got hurt by repeatedly falling and hitting his head against the ground. And that was something he really didn't want to do.

Tai Wei was really having a bad day. Why? Because he was repeatedly tripping and falling, just as he was trying to run. He assumed that he was dealing with the after effects of his strength training session, which had highlighted his deficiencies in multiple areas. He seriously needed to up his game, or Tai Wei had a feeling that someone in the village would off him in order to increase their own standing. Not that killing him would merit them much... but it was probably the symbolic part that counted the most. He pushed himself up and looked around, thankfully no one was around to see him fail so much.

Now he was getting somewhere. Although it wasn't likely that this particular burst of energy would hold, Tai Wei secretly hoped it would. The fact of the matter was that he couldn't just sit around and not do anything just because he failed. He was barely out of the gate and already he had caused himself pain. While there was the idea that without pain there wouldn't be any gain, Tai Wei knew that too much pain would destroy any gain that he might get out of this training session. Not to mention it would make him the laughing stock of the village if people found out he was this much of a failure at the simplest of tasks.

Tai Wei didn't fall over this time, but he did feel the cramps coming on as he moved. His mind wanted to keep going, but his body was starting to rebel against that with how tired it was. Even so, he continued to move forward even though he was already tiring out. Still, that was the whole point of this exercise; he needed to increase his stamina and continue moving forward. If he didn't, he would never manage to be a ninja, let alone any sort of professional fighter. He assumed that that's what he wanted after all. Ever since the murder all he cared about was getting stronger... but he didn't know why he would want to do that.

11-2 = 9. Success.
Tai Wei moved out of the training facility itself, and moved out into the open area. Now that he was outside, he hoped that he would be able to get some benefit from the rougher terrain and the fresh air. This was probably not true in any conceivable way, but Tai Wei hoped it was. He was looking for anything that could help him get stronger and tougher without cutting any corners. That part was important to him; he considered those that cut corners and looked for quick solutions the worst people of all. He never trusted anyone who didn't work for what they had or who didn't do things under their own power.

One step at a time; that was how Tai Wei had to see his life and himself. He couldn't afford to plan ahead, because he wasn't sure that he would be alive long enough to warrant planning for those moments. Instead, he used the training he was currently doing as a metaphor for his own life, and that gave him some measure of confidence in himself an how he was acting. He wasn't entirely sure that this was a good idea, or that he should place his faith in anyone at all, but he was sure enough that he would do whatever helped him out in the end. He just had to keep moving forward, just like he was doing now with this currently training exercise.

Everything seemed to be going alright until Tai Wei failed to see a tree root in front of him on the ground. As he fell down onto the ground, he briefly asked himself, "why didn't you see that?" After all, he should have; it wasn't like it was something that came out of nowhere or came at him. He was the coming coming towards the branch, so there was no reason that he should have tripped over it. Oh well, he'd have to live and learn and hope that he wasn't dumb enough to do it again. It didn't help him in the slightest if he didn't get up off the ground and keep moving. He could never stop moving; there was never a time to rest.

After getting himself away from the tree that had tripped him up, Tai Wei moved towards the back end of the training complex; he figured that the more laps he did the better off he'd be. Of course, he wasn't sure of this, but he had to keep moving. He looked around at the scene, trying to get himself worked up about what he was doing. He felt that he was about halfway done the training he was doing; but he knew that even when he finished he wasn't going to be able to stop then and there. There was a lot more training to be done after that and a lot more work to be done that the academy would be giving to him. There was no time to lose.

The cramps were coming back again with a vengeance. Every time he took another step, the cramping pains hit him again. Tai Wei kept moving around, he wondered just how far he could move before his legs would give out from under him. At the same time, he was also very sure that he'd keep running until his legs fell off, and even then he'd probably try to finish by dragging himself with his arms across the ground. That probably wasn't the smartest thing to do in terms of the long run; But he needed to show that he was determined enough and driven enough to push through any pain and any suffering to achieve his goals. The ninja way demanded it.

This time Tai Wei's legs really did collapse out from under him. He hit the ground, breathing heavily and sweating. He laid there for a few moments, trying to will his body to move, and it continued to refuse every command he gave it. Tai Wei lay there for a few more minutes before forcing himself to get up to rest. After resting for a bit, he got back up and started running again. He had lots of time left, but his body wasn't likely to have a lot of endurance remaining. Tai Wei refused the demands of his body to stop, and pushed forward because if he didn't, he would never make any progress or get passed his own weaknesses.

For now, he was doing better than he had expected after being as tired and as worn out as he was. For now, he was working as hard as he could just to keep himself from passing out and screwing himself over in the eyes of the ninja elite. After all, they would either kill him or never let him live it down if he showed himself to be that weak. Weakness was always a pain to deal with, so the more pain you experienced the less weakness would be left when you were done. At least, that's what Tai Wei assumed from all his experiences thus far. For someone who had to deal with pain his entire life, this was the only philosophy he could get behind.
